White Shadow knew as soon as Batman left the bridge area that when Evan would attack. She moved fast from one roof to another trying to catch any unwelcome activities from the city side. If he attacked people at the beach area they would be trapped between him and frozen river. They would have to go on ice in order to run from danger and the ice might not be that strong for all of them at one time.
People were gathering around fires. Some of them were sleeping especially children. The dark bridge was hanging over the ice river as a dark claw ready to scratch the surface.
White Shadow didn't have a screen where she could see unknown people moving toward the river bank but she sensed them. Moving inside the shadows people were coming from the city side. She saw one with a gun and then the next one and one more.
James Gordon and his people couldn't see the intruders because they were over the city side. "I have to make them shoot so people on the bank knew somebody is coming" thought White Shadow going down from the building.
She lended right behind a guy with a gun and he got scared. The fight broke up but yet he didn't make a single shot. They both struggled and then she got a hold of his gun and fired. She didn't kill him as she promised to Batman. Immediately after the shot she heard people on the beach screaming and cops turned on huge projector lights. More people with guns were coming and they didn't hide anymore they we shooting at anything they could see. Police secured the camp but all they could do was defense they couldn't attack because there weren't many of them. White Shadow was fighting as hard as she could but she found herself very hard not to kill people because she didn't have enough strength left. When somebody started to shoot an aromatic gun instead of regular guns it was when she decided to take it from a shooter and made it hers. She killed him and took his gun and then it was easy. By the time pontoon boats column came to the camp and police received more help from convoy the fight was almost over. Unfortunately some civilians were shot, injured or even killed but definitely there could be many more dead if not for White Shadow's warning.
James Gordon had no idea about the white caped figure but figured out he or she must be Batman's friend because he fought on their side and as soon as fight was over the figure left unnoticed.
Batman came back with the boats column just in time to get some of attackers. They had to lock them in a big truck which came with the column because police couldn't take them to jail. A jail simply didn't exist anymore.
-Batman! Are you ok? Your suit! - James Gordon met with the dark knight on the edge of a river bank far from lights and people.
-I'm fine Gordon. How many people are dead?
-We have five dead and twelve injured but we would definitely have more if not for your friend! Who is he or she?
-I can't tell you Gordon you know that. I'm glad she was here to help.
-She was a great help but she is different from you.
-What do you mean? - his open wound on the back hurt a lot but Gordon's words made Batman pay close attention to their conversation.
-I mean… ahh… well, you know we cops we just have to protect people and sometimes all we can do is to just shoot a bad guy. My guys did it here today if not for them those pricks would kill us all… so this friend of yours she … she kills them too. She is not like you Batman she kills people and I have to tell you that as a sworn in police officer and now Captain when it all ends I will have her arrested for murder.
Batman kept the silence for a couple seconds.
-I got you, Gordon. - he finally said. - I'll be back before the sunrise. - after that Batman vanished behind the fog coming from the water.
-And yet if not for her we would be dead… - said Gordon into nothingness of the dark night.
