"No, no, no!" Asuka cried. "It can't be."
"What the fuck?" Marlis whispered.
"It's not real," Finn raised his voice. "You're not fucking real!"

Maryse was placed between them and walked towards Asuka who was standing on top of the stairs. Maryse didn't utter a single word but just slowly walked forward. Asuka took a step backwards to get away and fell down the stairs with a scream. Maryse disappeared into thin air, and Finn and Marlis ran over to the stairs. The way Asuka's neck bent made it clear she was dead from the fall. Her glass eyes stared back at them but there was no life in them.

"Asuka!" Marlis cried.
"We need to get out before that becomes us!" Finn growled.

He grabbed her hand and pulled her back into the biology room. The door slammed behind them but he ignored it and pulled her over to the fire escape. He grabbed the door handle and let out a little chuckle when the door opened. His smile grew when he heard sirens in the distance.

"They're on their way to put out the fire. We're saved," he said.

He stepped out on the spiral, metal staircase that led downwards. He turned around and froze when he saw Maryse walk towards Marlis.

"Get away from her, you bitch!" Finn screamed.

Marlis stood still and watched Maryse come closer. She had a feeling this was important. Maryse placed her hands on Marlis' cheeks and leaned in to kiss her forehead like Finn had done earlier that evening. Marlis sucked in her breath when all her missing memories suddenly came flushing back. Everything that had happened that day leading up to Maryse's death in this very room and the real reason she tried to kill herself. She snapped her head around and stared at Finn.

"You pushed her," she said.
"No, I... I... I..." He stuttered.
"You killed her!" She raised her voice in anger. "You told me all kinds of lies about her instead of just leaving her alone after you fucked her. She didn't want you, Finn. She came to me and apologized for what you two did. You got so angry that she told me the truth that you spun the whole story around and made us chase her down that day. I was only there to keep you in check but I couldn't stop you from pushing her. And then you threatened me to a point where I was so scared that I didn't see any other way out than to kill myself. I wanted to get away from you, and instead you kept my memories hostage for over two decades just so you could keep me in your life."

Finn looked over at Maryse and saw the wicked smile on the ghost's face. She knew exactly what she had done.

"You bitch!" Finn snarled. "I'm gonna fucking kill you again!"
"You don't fucking touch her!" Marlis screamed.

Marlis ran towards Finn and he saw anger in her face that he had never seen before. She ran up to him and pushed him with both hands. He stumbled backwards and fell through the side with the missing railing the same way Maryse had done all those years ago. He screamed as he fell down, and then everything went silent when he hit the pavement. Marlis turned around and looked at Maryse again.

"Maryse," Marlis said softly. "I'm so sorry. I tried to stop him."

Maryse walked over to Marlis and handed her a piece of paper. Marlis looked down at the paper and recognized Finn's handwriting. It was a letter detailing what they had done in the past and how Marlis had been getting her memories back lately. The letter detailed a plan about how he was going to kill them all and take his own life. She looked up from the letter and saw the look in Maryse's eyes.

"It was all you," she said. "The invitations and this letter. You copied his handwriting. You put all this together as a way for us both to move on. Thank you for giving me my missing pieces. I won't let you down, Maryse. Everyone will know what they did to you."

Maryse smiled and disappeared in the air. Marlis ran out on the fire escape and made her way down just as a firefighter ran up to her and got her away from the burning building.

"What happened in there?" He asked.
"Finn!" She cried. "Finn tried to kill us all like he killed Maryse!"
