Season 3: Episode 2

Violet bit her lip as she left school and checked her phone for the time. She was nervous and, shaking her head, she hurried her pace.

'Gotta get home and get changed...gotta get to the interview.' She reflected. 'I just...urgh, that outfit, I can't believe I had to wear it, but mom said I need to make a good impression and it's the best outfit I've got that can do it.'

She shook her head and self-consciously touched her hair as she walked, no matter how well she dressed, no matter what she did, she'd never be able to do anything about the green tinges to her hair from her swimming. She silently cursed but it was something she had chosen and so, she felt determined to see it through.

'I need more money, so I need a job, that's why I agreed to this interview...still, who would've thought I'd end up interviewing at the same diner mom works at.' She thought to herself.

Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, Violet finally reached her and her mom's apartment and quickly let herself in. Her mom wasn't home, she was still at work, nevertheless she hurried through to her room and quickly removed her clothes from school, showered and dried herself off quickly before getting dressed and leaving for her job interview.

Violet walked down the street, feeling awkward and just trying to keep her balance.

'Urg, damn heels...why the hell would mom insist on these to make a good impression.' She thought angrily.

She was indeed wearing heels, a pair of small black heels which, making her feel frustrated and awkward, was paired with a black mid-thigh length pencil skirt and a white blouse. She hated showing her legs at the best of times, except when swimming, but now, here she was. Not helping matters, her awkwardness and frustration were compounding her nervousness. Nevertheless she headed to the diner, quickly checking the time again and making sure she got there in plenty of time for her interview. She cleared her throat as she stood outside the diner, this was it.

She smoothed down her skirt. 'Wish I had a longer one, but damn, here now...let's do this.'

She straightened up and walked into the diner, the click of her heels made her feel just how awkward she was in them.

"Hey Vi."

She started and turned, to see Clem who had greeted her, smiling warmly at her, dressing her usual schoolgirl style which Violet tried not to pay too much attention to, not wanting to get hot and bothered. She wasn't alone either as she was seated at the group's usual booth with the rest of the girls.

"What the, you guys…?"

"We know you have an interview here." Brody explained. "We're here to support you. You've got this."

Becca nodded. "Yeah, what she said."

"Just remember, you know what you're doing, Violet. You can handle this." Sarah added to her friends words.

Violet bit her lip but smiled, relief filling her, chasing away the nervousness, awkwardness and frustration.

Thanks to her friends reassuring her beforehand, and some added reassurance from her mother when she delivered her friend's food orders, Violet walked into her interview feeling more confident than she had earlier. Her smart outfit did indeed make a good impression and, with the only thing that matched up to her concerns was the question about the green in her hair. But she was able to explain about her swimming and such and the interview shrugged the minor issue off completely after hearing that. For the rest of the interview, Violet was confident she did well and so she was in a much better mood than she had been when she left, accompanied by her mother who had finished her shift. This was a relief for Violet as she was riding home in her mother's car, giving her feet a rest from the heels.

"You did great Violet, I know you did." Amy said softly to her daughter as she drove home.

Violet blushed a little but nodded. "Thanks mom, I'll just be glad to get these damn heels off."

Amy laughed softly but nodded. "I can understand that. It'll take a day or two but then they'll call you when they've made their choice."

Violet nodded and considered. "So, do they call even if I didn't get the job, like, to tell me that I didn't or…?"

"Or do they only call the person who gets the job. No, they'll call you if you get the job or not." Amy explained gently.

Violet nodded, at least she only needed to wait a couple of days to hear if she got the job or not. Once back home Violet let out a sigh of great relief as she removed the heels before changing out of her skirt and blouse into her usual clothing at last.

Meanwhile, back at her own home, Becca bit her lip, considering the strange thoughts and feelings that were running through her.

'Dammit, what is wrong with me, I've been...I've been feeling like this ever since, ever since that creep Chapman took me hostage along with the other girls.' She wondered worriedly. 'I can't help but feel, weird.'

She bit her lip, trying to figure it out, all she could say with certainty was that she seemed to have been feeling like this, ever since Chapman tied and gagged her.

"Becca!"

She started out of her thoughts and approached the door to her room. "Yeah, Shel?"

Her sister smiled lightly. "Mom, dad and I are going out...you wanna come or will you be okay by yourself?"

"Oh, I'll be fine, have fun." She replied.

She smiled and waited until the door closed and she knew now, she could consider the strange ways she'd been feeling. She had a suspicion but now that she was alone and had quite some time alone, she could find some things that she could use to help her confirm if the things she was feeling were indeed what she was suspecting.
