This book will serve as the first in the Threads of Dissent trilogy, which was conceived by myself and a friend as continuation of the EU timeline. The goal of the series was to better bridge the gap between the end of FOTJ and the Legacy comics, while still using legacy characters and continuing the stories setup at the end of FOTJ. New chapters will be published as they are completed, and the entire novel will hopefully be up in a timely manner. Enjoy!
Background:
Six years have passed since the death of Abeloth, and the galaxy has endured a tentative peace under the eye of the Galactic Alliance, Imperial Remnant, and Confederation. The New Jedi Order has managed to stay out of galactic politics, despite maintaining loose relations with Alliance Chief of State Wynn Dorvan. Luke Skywalker still leads the Order, although he has become less active in terms of missions taken, spending his time deepening his connection to the force and grooming his son to take his place as the Grand Master in the not so far future. Jaina Solo, Sword of the Jedi, has taken on her niece Allana as an apprentice, much in the way that Mara had once trained her.
However, in the years since Abeloth's death, a new grassroots neo-imperial movement has been gaining traction within the GA, led by younger politicians and activists. They condemn the current Alliance leadership, claiming that they have failed to stop wars and conflicts from happening. They believe that if the Empire had continued, and the Rebel Alliance had failed, the Yuuzhan Vong invasion would have halted much faster, and that war in the galaxy would have mostly ceased. Even though they condemn Emperor Palpatine and his enforcers for some of the acts they committed, they claim that Palpatine's government was strong and his ideas were good. The movement failed to gain traction until the Central Party, one of the two major factions within the GA, elects Gage Kendall, the leader of the movement, as their party leader. Meanwhile, in the shadows, a rogue element among Darth Krayt's One Sith seeks to gain power, and will use whatever means necessary to achieve it….
