Anistar City Gym Battles (Part Two)
Twenty minutes later, Nazz and Olympia were in the Anistar City Gym, facing each other on the arena while Kevin, Jonny, and Rolf watched.
"This is an official gym battle between Olympia the gym leader, and Nazz the challenger." said the referee. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon; whoever defeats their opponents Pokemon first will be the winner. Let the battle begin." Nazz pulls out a pokeball while another pokeball floats out of Olympia's belt and hovers in front of her.
"Sigilyph, go!" said Olympia, her pokeball flying forward and releasing her Sigilyph.
"Corsola, go!" said Nazz as she throws Corsola's pokeball and releases her. "Corsola, Power Gem!" The horn on Corsola's forehead glows pink and a beam of pink energy fires out of it towards Sigilyph.
"Sigilyph, Light Screen!" said Olympia. Four transparent squares appeared in front of Sigilyph; Corsola's attack hits one of the squares and it shatters, taking most of the hit, but still dealt super effective damage to Sigilyph. "Now use Psychic!" Sigilyph's eye glows purple; Corsola becomes surrounded by purple energy and she gets knocked back, but she remained standing.
"Ancient Power!" said Nazz. Corsola becomes surrounded by a white light; it forms into a silver ball of light and Corsola launches it at Sigilyph, hitting another of the transparent squares, but still dealing super effective damage to Sigilyph. Corsola begins surging with energy. "Looks like all of Corsola's stats increased."
"But will it be enough to earn Corsola a victory?" asked Olympia. "Sigilyph, Psychic!" Sigilyph's eye glowed purple and Corsola gets lifted up, and then gets slammed back down, but not doing much damage due to Corsola's special defense being increased; her special defense weakened from Psychic.
"Corsola, Power Gem!" said Nazz. Corsola fires an even stronger beam of pink energy from her horn due to Ancient Power increasing her special attack strength; it breaks through another transparent square, and it hits Sigilyph, dealing enough damage to knock it out.
"Sigilyph is unable to battle; Corsola wins the match." said the referee.
"You were great, Corsola." said Nazz.
"Go, Nazz!" said Kevin. Olympia returned Sigilyph to its pokeball.
"You did well, Sigilyph." said Olympia. She puts Sigilyph's pokeball away and another one floats out of her belt. "Slowking, go!" Slowking's pokeball flies forward and releases it. "Slowking, use Yawn!" Slowking opens its mouth, and a blue bubble comes out of it; it floats to Corsola's face, and it pops. Corsola begins to get drowsy.
"Corsola, use Power Gem!" said Nazz. Corsola fires a beam of energy from her horn, and it hits Slowking, knocking it back. Corsola suddenly falls asleep. "Wake up, Corsola!"
"Slowking, use Calm Mind!" said Olympia. Slowking closes his eyes and its body glows brightly, increasing its special attack and defense.
"Corsola, use Iron Defense!" said Nazz. Unfortunately, Corsola was still asleep.
"Slowking, Psychic!" said Olympia. Slowking begins to glow light blue and Corsola begins to as well; she gets lifted up and slammed into the arena floor, doing enough damage to knock her out.
"Corsola is unable to battle; Slowking wins the match." said the referee.
"Excellent work, Slowking." said Olympia. Slowking nods in response. Nazz returns Corsola to her pokeball.
"It's okay, little dudette." said Nazz. She puts Corsola's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Dedenne, go!" She throws Dedenne's pokeball and releases her. "Dedenne, use Nuzzle!" Dedenne runs to Slowking and rubs her cheek against it, dealing super effective damage to it; electricity surrounds Slowking's body.
"Looks like Slowking's paralyzed." said Jonny.
"Slowking, use Zen Headbutt!" said Olympia. Unfortunately for Olympia, paralysis stops Slowking from attacking.
"Dedenne, Charge!" said Nazz. Dedenne's body becomes surrounded by yellow sparks.
"Slowking, Zen Headbutt!" said Olympia. Slowking fights through its paralysis and leaps at Dedenne; it rams its head into Dedenne, knocking her back.
"Dedenne, use Charge Beam!" said Nazz. Dedenne fires a yellow beam of electricity from her paws, and it hits Slowking, dealing massive damage due to Charge powering up Dedenne's electric attack. Dedenne begins surging with energy and her special attack strength increases.
"Slowking, Heal Pulse!" said Olympia. Paralysis stops Slowking from using it.
"Charge Beam!" said Nazz. Dedenne fires an even stronger Charge Beam at Slowking, hitting it, and dealing enough damage to knock it out.
"Slowking is unable to battle; Dedenne wins the match." said the referee.
"All right, Dedenne!" said Nazz.
"You're doing great, Nazz!" said Kevin.
"Just one Pokemon to go." said Jonny. Olympia returns Slowking to its pokeball.
"You did well, Slowking." said Olympia. She puts Slowking's pokeball away and another one float out from her belt. "You're doing quite well, Nazz; but you still need to beat my final Pokemon. Meowstic, go!" Meowstic's pokeball flies forward and releases it. "Meowstic, Fake Out!" Meowstic quickly runs close to Dedenne and claps its paws, releasing a shockwave that hits Dedenne, making her flinch. "Now use Shadow Ball!" Meowstic creates a ball of black energy and throws it at Dedenne, hitting it, and weakening her special defense.
"Use Nuzzle!" said Nazz. Dedenne runs to Meowstic and rubs her cheek against it, damaging it; it becomes covered in electricity.
"Meowstic's paralyzed." said Kevin.
"Meowstic, Psychic!" said Olympia. Meowstic fights through its paralysis and its eyes glowed purple; Dedenne gets lifted off the floor and get slammed down into it, knocking it out.
"Dedenne is unable to battle; Meowstic wins the match." said the referee.
"Excellent work, Meowstic." said Olympia. Nazz returns Dedenne to her pokeball.
"You were awesome, Dedenne." said Nazz. She puts Dedenne's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Farfetch'd, go!" She throws Farfetch'd's pokeball and releases him. "Farfetch'd, use Swords Dance!" Farfetch'd jumps up and spins around, increasing his attack strength.
"Meowstic, use Psychic!" said Olympia. Unfortuantely, paralysis stops Meowstic from attacking.
"Farfetch'd, Night Slash!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd runs at Meowstic and strikes it with his leek, dealing super effective damage to it.
"Meowstic, Psychic!" said Olympia. Meowstic's ears unfold, revealing a pair of eyes underneath them and they glowed purple; Farfetch'd gets send flying back and lands on the floor, but he gets back up.
"Fury Cutter!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd's leek glows green and he strikes Meowstic with it, dealing super effective damage to it.
"Use Psyshock!" said Olympia. Unfortuantely, paralysis prevents Meowstic from attacking.
"Fury Cutter!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd's leek glows green brighter and he slashes Meowstic across the chest, knocking it to the ground, unconscious.
"Meowstic is unable to battle; Farfetch'd wins. The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Nazz." said the referee.
"All right!" cheered Nazz. Farfetch's raises up his leek and he cheers.
"Nazz is victorious!" said Rolf.
"She was awesome!" said Kevin. Olympia returns Meowstic to its pokeball.
"You did all you could, Meowstic." said Olympia. She puts Meowstic's pokeball away and walks to Nazz. "You raised your Pokemon well, Nazz."
"Thanks, Olympia." replied Nazz. Olympia reaches into her pocket and pulls out a Psychic Badge.
"As proof of your victory here, I reward you with the Psychic Badge." said Olympia. She gives Nazz the Psychic Badge, along with pokedollars.
"Radical; I won the Psychic Badge!" cheered Nazz. Olympia then looks up at Kevin.
"As soon as I return, we will have our gym battle." said Olympia.
"Radical." said Kevin. Olympia then exits the gym, followed by Nazz so both can get their Pokemon treated at the Pokemon Center while Kevin walks down to the arena floor.
Ten minutes later, Olympia and Nazz return; with Nazz heading up to the walkway to join Rolf and Jonny, while Olympia goes to her spot on the arena.
"Are you ready for your battle, young man?" asked Olympia.
"Bring it." said Kevin. The referee steps out onto the field.
"This is an official gym battle between Olympia the gym leader, and Kevin the challenger." said the referee. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon; whoever defeats their opponents Pokemon first will be the winner. Let the battle begin." Kevin pulls out a pokeball while another pokeball floats out of Olympia's belt and hovers in front of her. Olympia launches her pokeball forward, releasing her Sigilyph; Kevin throws his, releasing his Tyrantrum.
"Sigilyph, use Psybeam!" said Olympia. Sigilyph releases a beam of psychic energy from its eye, hitting Tyrantrum.
"Tyrantrum, use Crunch!" said Kevin. Tyrantrum runs over to Sigilyph and bites down on it, doing super effective damage, as well as lowering its defense.
"Sigilyph, use Psychic!" said Olympia. Sigilyph's body glows blue, as well as Tyrantrum's as he's lifted up off the arena floor, then slammed back down onto it.
"Tyrantrum, use Dragon Claw!" said Kevin. Tyrantrum's right-hand claws glowed blue as he runs at Sigilyph and slashes its body, doing enough damage, partly thanks to its lowered defense, to knock it out.
"Sigilyph is unable to battle. Tyrantrum is the winner." said the referee.
"Way to go, dude!" said Kevin. Tyrantrum roars in triumph.
"Tyrantrum did it!" cheered Jonny.
"Tyrantrum is a mighty beast." said Rolf.
"Keep it up, Kevin!" said Nazz. Back on the battlefield, Olympia returned her Sigilyph to its pokeball.
"You've earned a good rest." said Olympia. She puts Sigilyph's pokeball back onto her waist and uses her power to lift up another one and throws it, releasing her Slowking.
"Tyrantrum, use Crunch!" said Kevin. Tyrantrum runs over to the Slowking and bites down on it, doing super effective damage, and lowers its defense.
"Slowking, use Water Pulse!" said Olympia. Slowking releases a pulsating mass of water from its body that hits Tyrantrum; making him stumble around.
"Tyrantrum's confused, dude!" said Nazz.
"Tyrantrum, use Crunch again!" said Kevin. Tyrantrum tries to do so, but confusion kicks in and he trips over his own feet, making him fall to the floor, hurting himself.
"Slowking, use Zen Headbutt!" said Olympia. Slowking's shell crown glowed blue as it runs towards Tyrantrum and hits him, making him flinch in response. "Now use Psychic!" Slowking's eyes glowed blue, making Tyrantrum lift up off the floor, then crash down hard onto the floor, knocking him out.
"Tyrantrum is unable to battle. Slowking is the winner." said the referee.
"Excellent work, Slowking." said Olympia. Slowking bows its head in response.
"Don't worry, Kevin!" said Jonny.
"You can still win this!" said Nazz.
"Rolf believes in you!" said Rolf. Kevin returns his Tyrantrum to his pokeball.
"You were great, dude." said Kevin. He puts Tyrantrum's pokeball away and pulls another one out of his pocket; he throws it, releasing his Vivillon.
"Slowking, use Water Pulse!" said Olympia, making Slowking releases another mass of pulsing water.
"Vivillon, use Protect!" said Kevin. A green barrier forms around Vivillon's body, making Slowking's attack bounce off it. "Now use Struggle Bug!" Vivillon flies at Slowking and starts wrestling it, doing super effective damage, and lowering its special attack power.
"Slowking, use Psychic!" said Olympia. Slowking's eyes glowed blue again, making Vivillon crash to the ground, but not doing as much damage as it normally would've, thanks to its reduced special attack power.
"Vivillon, use Draining Kiss!" said Kevin. Vivillon flies at Slowking and kisses its forehead, draining some of its stamina which is used to heal herself.
"Slowking, use Disable!" said Olympia. Slowking's eyes glowed red, making a red aura appear around Vivillon's body. "Now your Pokemon can't use Draining Kiss for a while."
"She has other moves!" said Kevin. "Vivillon, use Bug Buzz!" Vivillon releases a powerful sound wave which hits Slowking, doing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"Slowking is unable to battle. Vivillon is the winner." said the referee.
"Awesome, Vivillon!" said Kevin. Vivillon flies around with joy.
"That was awesome!" said Jonny.
"Just one more to go, dude!" said Nazz. Olympia returns her Slowking to its pokeball.
"You fought bravely, Slowking." said Olympia. She puts Slowking's pokeball back onto her waist and levitate's her last one and launches it forward, releasing her Meowstic.
"Vivillon, use Quiver Dance!" said Kevin. Vivillon does a midair dance which boosts her special attack power, special defense power, and speed.
"Meowstic, use Psychic!" said Olympia. Meowstic's eyes glowed blue and Vivillon is slammed to the floor; thankfully her special defenses got a power boost, so she wasn't hurt as much as she would've been.
"Vivillon, use Bug Buzz!" said Kevin. Vivillon releases another powerful soundwave which hits Meowstic, doing super effective damage, as well as lowering its special defense.
"Meowstic, use Psyshock!" said Olympia. Meowstic releases a wave of psychic energy which hits Vivillon, doing damage to her.
"Vivillon, use Struggle Bug!" said Kevin. Vivillon flies over to Meowstic and wrestles around with it, doing super effective damage, and lowers its special attack.
"Meowstic, use Disarming Voice!" said Olympia. Meowstic quickly releases a soothing soundwave which hits Vivillon, doing enough damage to knock her out.
"Vivillon is unable to battle. Meowstic is the winner." said the referee.
"Magnificent, Meowstic." said Olympia, making Meowstic take a bow.
"Poor Vivillon." said Nazz.
"She did her best." said Jonny.
"Kevin will triumph!" said Rolf. Kevin returns his Vivillon to her pokeball.
"You were great, dudette." said Kevin. He puts Vivillon's pokeball back into his pocket and pulls out his last one; he throws it, releasing his Golurk. "Time to finish this; Golurk, use Shadow Punch!"
"Meowstic, use Sucker Punch!" said Olympia. As Golurk brings back his fist as it was coating itself in a gray energy, Meowstic moves in close to Golurk with its fist coated in dark energy and strikes its chest, doing super effective damage; Golurk brings its fist down onto Meowstic, driving it into the floor, and doing lots of super effective damage thanks to its Iron Fist ability and Spell Tag, knocking it out in the process.
"Meowstic is unable to battle. Golurk is the winner. The winner of the match is the challenger, Kevin." said the referee.
"Yes! We did it!" cheered Kevin as he does a fist pump.
"Kevin won!" cheered Jonny.
"Way to go, dude!" said Nazz.
"Rolf is pleased that Kevin won!" said Rolf. Back on the arena floor, Olympia returned her Meowstic to its pokeball.
"You battled well, Meowstic." said Olympia. She puts Meowstic's pokeball back onto her waist and walks over to Kevin. "You trained your Pokemon well, young man."
"You know it!" said Kevin. Olympia reaches into her pocket and pulls out a Psychic Badge.
"As proof of your victory, I present you with this Psychic Badge." said Olympia as she hands it, along with some pokedollars to Kevin.
"Righteous! I won the Psychic Badge!" said Kevin as he holds his new badge in triumph.
Later at the Pokemon Center, the group was celebrating their Anistar gym battle victories.
"We're doing awesome!" said Nazz.
"Yeah!" said Jonny.
"We need only one more badge each to being able to enter the Kalos League." said Kevin.
"What will the next gym leader be like?" asked Rolf.
"Don't know, man." said Kevin.
"I guess we'll find out when we get there." said Nazz.
Now that everyone has earned their Psychic Badges, they're only one badge away from competing in the Kalos League. Will they succeed?
