Rising to Grand Duchess (Part One)
With the Lumiose Conference behind them, the group now find themselves standing in front of the Battle Chateau.
"You think there's any ranks higher than your Duchess rank, Nazz?" asked Kevin.
"Not sure; never occured to me to ask." replied Nazz. "But I'm going to find out. I may not have come out of the Lumiose Conference as one of the top three trainers, but if there is a highest ranking here, I want to rise up to it."
"That's the spirit, Nazz." said Kevin. Nazz and the others then walked to the Battle Chateau and walked inside.
"Duchess Nazz." Nazz hears Mr. Hennessy call out to her. She turns to see him walking over to her.
"Hey, Mr. Hennessy." said Nazz.
"Allow me to extend to you my congratulations on making it so far in the Lumiose Conference." said Mr. Hennessy.
"Thanks, Mr. Hennessy; I didn't make it to the top three though." said Nazz.
"It doesn't matter; how well you battled in the Lumiose Conference showed you may be ready to rise to the final ranking here in the Battle Chateau, Grand Duchess." said Mr. Hennessy.
"Awesome." said Nazz.
"I feel I must inform you that Dukes and Duchesses gets to use three Pokemon in battle here." said Mr. Hennessy.
"Got it." said Nazz. She then walks further into the Battle Chateau; she was suddenly approached by a teenage boy wearing a Duke cape.
"Excuse me; didn't you compete in the Lumiose Conference?" asked the Duke.
"Sure did." replied Nazz.
"Then I feel you will be a worthy opponent." said the duke. "I would like to challenge you to a battle."
"You're on." said Nazz. Soon, Nazz and the Duke were facing each other, while holding pokeballs.
"Mothim, go!" said the duke, throwing a pokeball and releasing a mothlike Pokemon.
"Didn't that Devon guy Eddy battled at the Lily of the Valley Conference had a Pokemon like that?" asked Nazz as she takes out the pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Mothim, the Moth Pokemon, and the evolved form of a male Burmy. It flutters around at night and steals honey from the Combee hive." said the pokedex.
"Farfetch'd, go!" said Nazz, throwing Farfetch'd's Pokemon and releasing him. "Okay, Farfetch'd, use Air Slash!" Farfetch'd's wings glowed blue, and he flaps them, releasing circular blades of energy from them and they hit Mothim, dealing super effective damage to it, and knocking it to the ground; as it tries to get up, it was surrounded by a light green aura.
"It would appear you activated my Mothim's Swarm ability; now his insect type moves should be more stronger now." said the duke. Mothim, use Bug Buzz!" Mothim lets out a loud cry and releases red soundwaves from its body and it hits Farfetch'd, but not dealing much damage.
"Farfetch'd, Peck!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd flies at Mothim and pecks him, dealing super effective damage to him, and knocking him out. "Great job, Farfetch'd!" The duke returned Mothim to its pokeball; he puts it away and pulls out another one.
"Swanna, go!" said the duke, throwing a pokeball and releasing a swanlike Pokemon.
"Oh, it's so beautiful!" said Nazz, taking out the pokedex and pointing it at the Pokemon.
"Swanna, the White Bird Pokemon, and the evolved form of Ducklett. Swanna start to dance at dusk. The one dancing in the middle is the leader of the flock." said the pokedex.
"Okay, Farfetch'd, use Aerial Ace!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd flies at Swanna while white streaks surround its body and it rams Swanna, knocking it back.
"Swanna, use Bubble Beam!" said the duke. Swanna unleashes a beam of glowing bubbles from its beak, and it hits Farfetch'd.
"Farfetch'd, use Acrobatics!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd flies past Swanna quickly, hitting it each time he did.
"Swanna, use Aerial Ace!" said the duke. Swanna flies towards Farfetch'd while white streaks of light surround its body and it rams into Farfetch'd.
"Farfetch'd, use Fury Attack!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd repeatedly strikes Swanna with his leek, damaging Swanna, and knocking it out. "Way to go, Farfetch'd." The duke returns Swanna to its pokeball and puts it away, then pulls out another one.
"You're truly a strong trainer, Duchess Nazz." said the duke. "But you still have to beat my last Pokemon to claim victory; Doublade, go!" He throws the pokeball and releases a Pokemon that resembled two swords. Nazz points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Doublade, the Sword Pokemon and the evolved form of Honedge. The complex attack patterns of its two swords are unstoppable, even for an opponent greatly accomplished at swordplay." said the pokedex.
"Doublade, use Slash!" said the duke. Doublade flies at Farfetch'd and slashes him with one of its body swords, damaging him.
"Doublade's part ghost, so dark type moves should work." said Nazz. "Okay, Farfetch'd, use Knock Off!" Farfetch'd flies at Doublade while his leek glowed white and he strikes Doublade with it, dealing super effective damage to it.
"Doublade, use Night Slash!" said the duke.
"You too, Farfetch'd!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd and Doublade fly towards each other while Farfetch'd's leek and Doublade's swords glowed light purple; they slash each other as they passed each other, dealing damage to Farfetch'd while dealing super effective damage to Doublade. Farfetch'd lands on his feet while Doublade floated in place until it falls to the ground, unconscious.
"We did it, Farfetch'd!" cheered Nazz. Farfetch'd lets out a sigh of relief. The duke looks with a stunned look on his face, before smiling and returning Doublade to its pokeball; he then walks over to Nazz.
"An exceptional battle, Duchess Nazz." said the duke.
"Thanks, dude." said Nazz. The duke gives Nazz pokedollars and walks away. Nazz uses a Potion on Farfetch'd before returning him to his pokeball. Nazz then goes on to find another opponent. For over an hour, Nazz has defeated several Dukes and Duchesses; she was currently facing another Duchess.
"Lapras, go!" said the Duchess, throwing a pokeball and releasing a blue Pokemon that looked like a Plesiosaur with a cream-colored underside and a gray shell on its back. Nazz points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Lapras, the Transport Pokemon. Its high intelligence enables it to understand human speech. It likes to ferry people on its back." said the pokedex.
"Dedenne, go!" said Nazz, throwing Dedenne's pokeball, and releasing her. "Okay, Dedenne, use Charge!" Dedenne becomes surrounded by sparks and her special defense increases.
"Lapras, use Ice Beam!" sadi the Duchess. Lapras fires light blue beams of energy from its mouth, and it hits Dedenne, doing minor damage due to her special defense being increased.
"Charge Beam!" said Nazz. Dedenne fires a beam of electricity from her paws, and it hits Lapras, dealing super effective damage; energy begins surging through Dedenne and her special attack strength increases.
"Lapras, Body Slam!" said the Duchess. Lapras jumps up and slams down onto Dedenne, damaging her.
"Use Discharge!" said Nazz. Dedenne releases bolts of electricity from her body and they hit Lapras, knocking it out. "Great job, Dedenne." The Duchess returns Lapras to its pokeball, then pulls out another one.
"Go, Simisear!" said the Duchess, throwing a pokeball and releasing a red and cream colored, simian-like Pokemon. Nazz points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Simisear, the Ember Pokemon, and the evolved form of Pansear. When it gets excited, embers rise from its head and tail and it gets hot. For some reason, it loves sweets." said the pokedex.
"Simisear, Flame Burst!" said the Duchess. Simisear fires a fireball out of its mouth, and it hits Dedenne, knocking her back.
"Dedenne, Volt Switch!" said Nazz. Dedenne forms a ball of electricity between her paws, and she throws it at Simisear, hitting it; Dedenne returns to her pokeball due to Volt Switch's secondary effect, and Corsola comes out of hers.
"Simisear, Lick!" said the Duchess. Simisear charges at Corsola and licks her, damaging her; Corsola begins twitching.
"Corsola's paralyzed!" said Nazz. "Fight it, Corsola!" Corsola lets out a yell and the static surrounding Corsola's body disperses, surprising the Duchess. "Now use Power Gem!" Corsola fires a red beam of energy out of her horn, and it hits Simisear, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it out. "Great work, Corsola!"
"I should have known you would be a challenge after seeing you battle at the Lumiose Conference." said the Duchess while returning Simisear to its pokeball, then pulling out another pokeball. "But I'm not going to yield; Bellossom, go!" She throws a pokeball and releases a green Pokemon with two red flowers on its head and yellow and green leaves around its waist, resembling a skirt.
"Oh, it's so cute." said Nazz, pulling out the pokedex and pointing it at the Pokemon.
"Bellossom, the Flower Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Oddish. When the heavy rainfall season ends, it is drawn out by warm sunlight to dance in the open." said the pokedex.
"Bellossom, Leaf Blade!" said the Duchess. The leaves around Bellossom's waist glowed green and she spins towards Corsola.
"Quick, use Endure!" said Nazz. Corsola braces herself as the leaves around Bellossom's waist slashes her, dealing super effective damage. "Now use Flail!" Corsola leaps at Bellossom and repeatedly strikes it with her coral branches, knocking Bellossom to the ground, but it gets back up.
"Bellossom, Magical Leaf!" said the Duchess. Bellossom releases glowing green leaves from her body, and they hit Corsola, dealing super effective damage, and knocking her out.
"Corsola!" said Nazz; she then returns Corsola to her pokeball. "You were great, little dudette." She puts Corsola's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Pyroar, go!" She throws Pyroar's pokeball and releases her. "Pyroar, Flamethrower!" Pyroar unleashes a stream of flames from her mouth, and it hits Bellossom, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Bellossom, no!" said the Duchess.
"Great job, Pyroar." said Nazz. The Duchess returns Bellossom to its pokeball, then walks to Nazz.
"A wonderful battle." said the Duchess.
"You bet." replied Nazz. The Duchess gives Nazz pokedollars and walks away. Nazz releases Corsola from her pokeball and uses a Revive on her. "You okay, Corsola?" Corsola smiles and nods, making Nazz smile. After using a Super Potion on Corsola and returning her and Pyroar to their pokeballs, Nazz continued to find more opponents. After defeating several more opponents, she was now facing another Duke.
"Go, Farfetch'd!" said Nazz, throwing Farfetch'd's pokeball and releasing him.
"Whiscash, go!" said the duke, throwing a Lure Ball and releasing a Whiscash.
"Farfetch'd, use Air Cutter!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd flaps his wings and releases an X-shaped, light blue wave of energy from them, and it hits Whiscash.
"Whiscash, Aqua Tail!" said the duke. Whiscash's tail becomes surrounded by a spiral of water and it hits Farfetch'd with it, dealing damage. "I feel I should inform you my Whiscash is holding a Splash Plate, which increases the power of his water attacks."
"Farfetch'd, use Knock Off!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd runs at Whiscash and hits him with his leek, damaging him, and making him drop a blue plate.
"Whiscash, Water Pulse!" said the duke. Whiscash forms a blue ball of water in front of his mouth, and he launches it at Farfetch'd, and it hits him.
"Use Brave Bird!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd flies at Whiscash while blue flames surround his body and he rams into Whiscash, knocking him out. Farfetch'd receives recoil damage from Brave Bird. Nazz decides to return Farfetch'd to his pokeball to rest while the duke returns Whiscash to his Lure Ball. Both trainers each pull out another pokeball.
"Accelgor, go!" said the duke, throwing a pokeball and releasing a Pokemon with pink head resembling a helmet and the rest of its body was covered in a blue cloth. Nazz points her pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Accelgor, the Shell Out Pokemon, and the evolved form of Karrablast. When its body dries out, it weakens. So, to prevent dehydration, it wraps itself in many layers of thin membrane." said the pokedex.
"Pyroar, go!" said Nazz, throwing Pyroar's pokeball, and releasing her.
"Accelgor, Quick Attack!" said the duke. Accelgor charges at Pyroar and rams her, knocking her back.
"Pyroar, Fire Fang!" said Nazz. Pyroar lunges at Accelgor with fire covered fangs.
"Double Team!" said the duke. Accelgor splits into several copies of itself; Pyroar bites one of them, but it was only a copy. "Now use Acid Spray!" The real Accelgor sprays a purple liquid from its mouth, and it hits Pyroar, dealing damage, and weakening her special defense.
"Overheat!" said Nazz. Pyroar releases a stream of spiraling fire from her mouth, and it hits Accelgor, dealing super effective damage, but weakening Pyroar's special attack strength.
"Accelgor, use Swift!" said the duke. Accelgor releases multiple stars from its body, and they hit Pyroar, damaging her.
"Fire Fang!" said Nazz. Pyroar leaps at Accelgor and bites it with fire covered fangs, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Accelgor!" exclaimed the duke.
"Great work, Pyroar." said Nazz. The duke returned Accelgor to its pokeball.
"You're doing quite well; but you still have to beat my last Pokemon to be victorious." said the duke.
"Bring it on." said Nazz. The duke pulls out an Ultra Ball.
"I shall grant your request." said the duke. "Goodra, go!" He throws the Ultra Ball, releasing a bipedal, light purple, dragonlike Pokemon with a dark purple underside. Nazz points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Goodra, the Dragon Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Goomy. It attacks with retractable horns. It throws a punch that's the equivalent of the force of a hundred pro boxers." said the pokedex.
"Goodra, Rain Dance!" said the duke. Goodra lets out a cry and dark clouds form above it and Pyroar; it then begins to rain heavily.
"This will weaken Pyroar's fire attacks; but she knows more types of moves than those." said Nazz. "Pyroar, Rock Smash!" Pyroar leaps at Goodra and hits it with her paw, damaging it, and weakening its defense.
"This rain will also strengthen my Goodra's water attacks." said the duke. "Goodra, Muddy Water!" Brown water forms around Goodra and it washes over Pyroar, dealing super effective damage, and knocking her out. "Splendid work, Goodra." Nazz returns Pyroar to her pokeball.
"You did great, dudette." said Nazz. She puts Pyroar's pokeball away, then pulls out a Great Ball. "Florges, go!" She throws Florges' pokeball, and releases her. "Okay, Florges, use Disarming Voice!" Florges releases pink soundwaves surrounded by hearts and musical notes at Goodra, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage.
"Goodra, use Body Slam!" said the duke. Goodra jumps up, and lands on Florges, damaging her; static surrounds Florges' body and she twitches. "It would appear your Florges is paralyzed."
"Florges, Aromatherapy!" said Nazz. Florges releases a pink mist from the bouquet around her neck onto herself, curing her paralysis, surprising the duke. "Now use Moonblast!" Florges forms a pink ball of energy between her hands, and she launches it at Goodra, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage.
"Goodra, Body Slam once more!" said the duke. Goodra jumps up into the air and down towards Florges.
"Fairy Wind!" said Nazz. Florges spins around, releasing sparkling pink wind from her body and it hits Goodra, dealing super effective and sending it flying away from Florges and it crashes into the floor with swirly eyes. "Way to go, Florges!" The duke returns Goodra to its Ultra Ball; he then walks over to Nazz.
"You're an exception trainer, Duchess Nazz." said the duke.
"Thank you, sir." said Nazz. The duke gives Nazz pokedollars and walks away.
Later, Nazz was sitting on a chair, using a Max Revive on Pyroar and Hyper Potions and Ethers on her other Pokemon.
"I hope I'm not putting too much on you guys." said Nazz. The Pokemon shake their heads, indicating they didn't mind the battling, making Nazz smile. Soon, she returns her Pokemon to their pokeballs. "Now let's see if there's anyone here I haven't battled yet." She begins to look around the Battle Chateau until she sees a large crowd.
Curious, Nazz makes her way through the crowd; when she gets through, she was surprised to see Charlotte with her Gothitelle; they were facing a woman with long, curled, blonde hair, wearing a flowing white dress, long white gloves, a white choker that had appeared what appeared to be a Mega Stone on it, a white, wide brimmed hat, as well as a Duchess cape. In front of the woman was a Florges, but unlike Nazz's, this Florges had white flowers around her neck. Gothitelle was battered and breathing heavily.
"Oh, Florges; do use Petal Dance." said the woman. Her Florges spins around, releasing multiple pink petals from her body and it hits Gothitelle, knocking her to the ground with swirly eyes.
"Gothitelle!" exclaimed Charlotte, running to Gothitelle.
"Man, that Anastasia's one strong trainer." said a teenage boy with a Viscount cape.
"And very pretty." said another teenage boy, wearing a Marquis cape. Charlotte returns Gothitelle to her pokeball.
"You did your best, Gothitelle." said Charlotte. She puts Gothitelle's pokeball away just as the woman walks over to her. "That was some battle, Anastasia." She gives the woman, now identified as Anastasia, pokedollars.
"It would have been for me if you weren't a pitiful opponent." said Anastasia, making Charlotte recoil.
"Hey, that was so not cool saying that to her!" exclaimed Nazz, getting Anastasia and Charlotte's attention.
"Nazz." said Charlotte. Anastasia looks at Nazz and a look of recognition appeared on her face.
"I do believe I saw you compete in the Lumiose Conference on television some time ago." said Anastasia.
"Yes, I did." replied Nazz.
"Would you like to have a battle with me?" said Anastasia. "Perhaps you won't be a disgraceful opponent like this one." She points at Charlotte, making her flinch, and Nazz glare at Anastasia.
"You can't talk about Charlotte like that; she just got her spirits back up days ago!" said Nazz. "Okay, I accept your challenge!"
"Marvelous." replied Anastasia. She uses a Max Potion on her Florges to heal her wounds after her battle with Gothitelle; she then returns Florges to a white pokeball (Premier Ball). She and Nazz walk until they're several feet from each other while Charlotte watches from the crowd.
Who will win this battle? Wait and find out.
