Rosalie
"I'm telling you, a human knows of our existence! She has knowledge of our kind. We need to keep an eye on her if we stay here for Renesmee." Everyone looked uneasy.
"We can't stay. You know that Rose. Edward is unhinged and Renesmee is growing too fast. The best thing for Renesmee and Edward is for us to leave." Esme said.
"I don't think it is. You weren't there when that woman spoke to me about Renesmee's happiness. This woman was able to get more out of Renesmee than any of us beside Jacob has in months. I don't think this is what Bella would want for her daughter." I surprised everyone.
They were all shocked that I had even spoken her name. Alice gasped. I snapped my head towards her as Jasper helped her sit.
"What is it, Alice?" Alice shook her head.
"I, I'm not sure. It's different. It's like I'm seeing the past. Something that's happened already." I could tell Jasper was using his ability to keep her calm.
Alice shot up. She rushed out of the room. Jasper followed behind.
Alice
I rushed out of the house. I followed the scent of that woman all the way back to her apartment. Jasper wasn't too far behind. I knocked on the door. A red haired green-eyed woman opened the door. She looked surprised.
"You must be Rosalie's and Renesmee's family. Please come in." She stepped away and pulled the door open wide.
I walked in with Jasper behind me. The door closed behind us. I saw boxes all around. Some were packed, others were in the process.
"Where are you going?" I turned to the woman who I had a vision of earlier.
She smiled at me, "I'm leaving. I've stayed too long. I'm sad to be leaving, but it's for the best that I don't get involved with you or your family."
She turned away. Her red hair fell off her shoulder. She kept a great distance away from me.
"Why are you leaving?" She bit her lip.
"It's best that I don't get too close. I said my piece to Rosalie. I meant what I said about Renesmee." She smiled at me.
"So why are you leaving now?" Her green eyes met mine.
"I'm not fully human, and yet I'm not completely a vampire either." Was she like Renesmee?
"No," could she hear my thoughts, "I can't hear thoughts. I'm just really good at reading people."
"Then what are you?" She looked hesitant for a moment.
She pulled her left sleeve up. There was an old scar. One that looked white as snow against her skin. I looked at Jasper. He looked troubled.
"How? How are you not a vampire?" She shook her head.
"I don't know. What I do know is I can copy abilities. All I have to do is touch a vampire. Or they use their gift on me like Renesmee did this afternoon." She looked sad.
"How long have you been alive?" She shook her head.
"Too long." She looked up at Jasper.
I felt angry, then I was calm. Then I saw her. A younger version of this woman in front of me. No more than 13. She was screaming in pain. She had been attacked by a newborn and Jasper saved her or at least he tried. She was the first life Jasper thought he took.
"Alice!" Jasper was afraid for me.
I snapped out of it.
"I'm alright." I glanced up at the woman in front of me.
She smiled at me, "it's a pleasure to meet you Alice. It's nice to see you again Colonel Hale."
"That's impossible. You can't be alive. You died. I killed you." She shook her head.
"You didn't kill me. You saved me. One of your newborns had gotten to me. All I remembered was pain. It was like I was on fire. Then I saw you. I felt calm even though it felt like I had fire coursing through my veins. Something weird happened. I could feel all of your emotions along with the other newborns in the area. I could feel your panic. I felt you start to take the venom out, but then you were shoved away from me. It was strange. I felt everything stop working in my body. My heart quit working. My eyes may have been closed, but I could hear you snarling. I heard Maria holding you back. She said I would be a welcome addition to her little army. It was nightfall when I came too. I sat up in pain. It felt like I was on fire. I could hear my heart beating. I was scared. I saw you standing watch over me. You were a shell. However I could feel some emotion underneath that cold exterior. I ran from you. I made you think I was dead. It was my gift. I didn't stick around after that. Clearly it worked. You never came after me. You let me go. I was grateful for that." She smiled at Jasper.
"Why do I remember your death? What exactly is your gift?" She sat down.
"It's what I made you see," she looked up at us, "it was the ability I had besides yours. I've gathered quite a few over the years. Though I normally leave town after I get a new one. It's just been how it's been. It's not a great way to live. It's why I intervened with Renesmee."
She seemed to be telling the truth. She took a deep breath and let her head fall into her hands.
"There's something else," she looked up at me, "my parents are vampires. I have to move so they don't find me. Normally the moment I come in contact with another coven I leave. It means I've been in one place too long. However I'm so tired of having to move, but no one wants a vampire who is a gift magnet. Think of me like a mimic." She was looking down at her hands.
I glanced at Jasper. He met my gaze. I saw a flash of Aleatha spinning around with Renesmee in her arms. They were both happy. Then I saw Edward. He was smiling from afar.
"Alice," I saw Aleatha standing up, "what is it? What's wrong?"
"Nothing. I have a preposition. Why don't you stay here with us?" Aleatha shook her head.
"I can't," she turned away, "I won't be the reason my family comes after you. I think you should leave."
I stepped towards her, Jasper stopped me. He shook his head. I looked towards her.
"Think about it, please Aleatha." She nodded her head.
"I'll think about it, but I think you should know what my parents are a part of before you request that I stay." She turned back to us.
"We're listening," she took a deep breath, "my parents joined the Volturi."
