Chapter 6: Strike Out

HAHA! Strike! Did you see that kid? Kid?

"Arms… Hurt… Tired…"

Ah, well I guess you did have to carry me and the nut so you would probably be tired. Though, I wouldn't recommend lying down on that rug, last thing we need is bits of ceramic in your shoulder.

That prompted the kid to stand up, though a bit slowly, and to pick up the potted plant. The clear cresses on the rug from the Wall-nut rolling over it leads the two into the direction of the kitchen where…

Hey, where did the zombies go? There's clear marks where that giant nut had hit them, but the bodies are just… gone? Weird. Maybe they flew further down the hallway?

At the end of the dark hallway, no zombie bodies are found, only a giant nut blocking the way to the kitchen. The body is clearly upside-down, what with the face being on the bottom. It looks at the two with an unamused expression, as if they're the reason for the Wall-nut's current situation. The Wall-nut grunts.

"Hmph"

We kind of are the reason, honestly. Hey kid, your arms good for some more lifting? Big lug's in our way and we might as well set 'em upright.

"I. I think I'm okay."

Good. Let's do it then.

The Sunflower raises her vine arms, which she just realized she forgot to retract and were just trailing loosely behind them on the floor. They were also numb, which was a bit worrying. Regardless, Sunny launches her arm vines around the base of the Wall-nut and the both of them pull at an angle.

The Wall-nut shakes a little at first, before starting to pick up speed as it rolls to the side and crashes against a window. The window cracks against the sudden weight, but doesn't break, and the Wall-nut smiles, happy just to be upright.

The vines slowly unravel, and sink back into Sunny's body.

"Hmph"

Yah, your welcome buddy.

The kitchen is just as bright as usual, which allows me- Sunny to dip her lights. Though Sunny's body seems oddly droopy. It doesn't help that the kid is stumbling around as they walk.

The Sunflower suddenly falls a few feet and makes a dignified noise, definitely, as the kid sits down against one of the thick legs of the wooden table.

Hey kid, watch it. Your head almost crashed into me.

"..."

Kid?

"..."

The Sunflower turns back to look at the kid. It suddenly hits her how tired the kid looks. Their dark green hair casting a shadow over their eyes, but failing to hide the bags under their eyes as their head tilts back.

The kid's fallen asleep, in the shadow of the table. Guess whatever adrenaline the kid had finally wore out.

Honestly, I'm pretty tired too. Been practically up all night.

We're not exactly safe, but maybe some shut-eye would do us both some good. Maybe.

After some time, the lights in the kitchen suddenly shut off, plunging the house into darkness.

Soon after, the Sunflower follows.

A/N: Exams kicking my rear, other stuff bonking me over the head. Delays and delays, but, nevertheless, the arc has ended. Next arc will be a little more difficult to write, as it'll be from a different POV, but hopefully I can write it well. Time will tell. *tips hat* Have a good day.
