Confirmed, resuming deployment

Section 3, Courtyard

Fire

Fire and smoke clogged the courtyard, as the fire suppression network had completely failed. Screams and gunfire could barely be heard over the roaring fire.

There trapped between the flames and giant monsters of men a tube approximately two metres wide rocketed out of the tiled floor of the courtyard. A click sounded and out stepped a man of metal.

With a wide and tall frame the iron behemoth stood at four metres tall with lanky limbs made of a black metal with few decorative elements two stood out in contrast. Its left arm was made to resemble its organic creators but the right was devoid of such notion

A singular long barrel protruding in clear defiance of the human form marked the machine as a threat with a big gun.

An emblem of blue paint prominently showed on its chest was a singular large star surrounded by over 6 dozen letters of different languages. But on the head of the creature was a designation, a serial number of white reading IRO-N.

Awoken from its slumber the creature stepped out of the courtyard. It saw only destruction and danger, and its overlord of programming deemed where to go next.

NEW DIRECTIVE: ENGAGE ENEMY COMBATANTS IN HAB 4

Each step of its metal talons were a warning to those who could hear the sound, but uninterrupted the machine marched to the place where the overlord said to go.

The fire was lessened here and the lingering smoke couldn't hide the forms of the first other sentient creatures IRO-N had met. Its overlord deemed them to be the threat, the machine thrusted forward it's right arm and the directive was only one word.

ENGAGING

Heavy thumps of thunder echoed leaving a clue on what was causing the giant holes in the wispy smoke as well as the enemy. Though the smoke didn't hinder its tracking in any way the metal man took in the details at who they were firing upon.

Black spiky armour clad over giant men that bore a ironic colour resemblance to their attacker. The thumps though quick weren't left unanswered as explosive shells began to slam into the metal torso.

large dents in its armour did not deter the thumps as their number went from 8 to 5 to 3 to 2 and then the last. For a reason unknown to the unfeeling creature the last one ran towards it. It made frightening progress considering its size, but a final thump took the head and a solid chunk of the neck and the warrior collapsed to the ground.

The machine waited for the next directive to reach it.

CONFIRM KILLS

More metal steps as the talons that were its feet stomped into the concrete like ground leaving cracks as it passed. Sensors flickered over the bodies. Pumpkin sized holes had been bored into them causing organs still defiantly trying to work not knowing their death.

The bodies squelched as the creature confirmed that the warriors had all been neutralized. Sensors and cameras feeding information to the overlord as it determined where to go next.

A directive hadn't come yet so the machine continued to confirm the bodies were dead by crunching them. No directive had come yet

The Machine waited.

It waited more.

...

...

The machine stood rock still as it waited.

...

...

Movement. To the left of the machine.

FIND SOURCE

using its human like appendages it dug into the habitat's wall and scaled to the roof. Swinging its gun over a small squeak could be heard.

Raising its head the sensors saw a small child.

Identification: Adeline Pearl, 13 Earth years, next of kin: Laurence Pearl (robotic engineer)

RETURN CIVILIAN TO SENTIENT SUPERIORS

Reaching for the child she watched with horror until the machine just grabbed her. She screamed as she was hoisted off the ground crying at the monster that was going to kill her.

Jumping off the building's roof to the ground the child fainted from the sudden Gs. Child clasped firmly in its metal grip the machine followed the directions.

Though before they truly left this former place of homes and happiness a sudden burst through the ground came from behind.

An armoured creature resembling a snail with spider legs began to sniff and even further mutilate the corpses of the chaos marines.

It hadn't noticed the machine who ran probability calculations.

Chance of victory... ... 86%

Chance of IRO destruction ... ... 58%

The head of the machine turned down to survey its current mission

Chance of civilian's survival... ... 13%

The snail thing's unknown mission overrode the machine's mission. Logic dictated combat.

Raising the gun the shots peppered into the snail's backside, it shrieked in pain. Armour pinged and cracked as the snail spun around to its more armoured front.

It ran straight at the machine and unlike earlier it's charge was much faster. The scythes was blocked by the gun arm, but the punch the machine deemed necessary would crush the civilian.

Direct action to harm a civilian wasn't allowed no matter how broken the logic, so the machine just dropped the unconscious child.

In reaction to the feeling of falling the child woke up and screamed upon barely grasping the situation. She had to watch her be metal monster drive its fist through the other's head causing her to be drenched in blood.

The machine yanked out what flesh it had hold of and went deeper for more ripping away at the flailing snail creature. The child tried to flee but if she did she could get ambushed by another threat.

Clamping the right foot talon around the child the machine pinned her to the ground keeping her in place. It's arm had fully torn away the head so the machine drove the gun down the apparent throat.

The vibrations of gunfire ran through the air and racked against the child. As the machine had shot the creature into an unrecognizable mass it assessed the damage.

The point blank firing of an anti armour weapon had exasperated the damage the scythes had done rendering it useless. Minor dents on armour plating on torso and head.

The child was retching as the machine ran some final assessments.

No major physical damage detected. Probability of psychological trauma... ... 93%. Overall current condition deemed... ACCEPTABLE.

The machine scooped the catatonic child before resuming its journey to friendly forces.

Classes of AI and the SOCKET protocol

The galaxy has had access to AI for extremely long time. Originally categorized as non-organic workers the lower stages of AI would drastically improve the efficiency of any nation who could create them.

The Classes of AI model was created through the Robotic Intelligence Collective of the Raltek Kingdom. The collective was a combination of engineers of all kinds, robotics scientists, and a few philosophers. At the time of its creation the Raltek had the ability to create up to class 5 AI but theorized up to class 8.

The current model is as follows

Class 0: Simple machines capable of information recognition

Class 1: Information retrieval systems

Class 2: First introduction of advanced recognition algorithms

Class 3: Using a defined information database to achieve tasks

Class 4: Able to take in new information independently and add to database

Class 5: Able to create new tasks for self

Class 6: Able to decide ethics programming independently

Class 7: Emotion replication

Class 8: Advanced emotion interaction

Class 9: Indifferent from Organic

Though AI rights have historically been through the ringer the general base for what was considered sentient was class 6 and above, but these classes are a general guide to sentience recognition.

Sentience advancement. For reasons still unknown and only occurring as an extreme rarity AI are able to randomly advance their class. Engineering logs see this occur completely randomly in both cause and time, with some advancing only a few weeks after activation and others never advancing even after decades.

The SOCKET protocol forbids any discouragement of sentience advancement and if it occurs then said AI must be upgraded to a class 6 at minimum. This was considered a major success by AI rights activists.

Though the proof of sentience advancement and the belief of upliftment if possible all nations in the CA still employ unsentient AI labour. The employment of IROs come to great disapproval as while supremely effective their often prone to find ways to be brutal within their ethics programming no matter how clear and direct the instructions.

The issue is considered an extremely divisive subject to approach as efforts to prove class 5s and below as truly sentient have all failed. This in combination with the heavy reliance on mechanical workers and soldiers makes the line drawn for AI clear in the sand.

For most sentient AI they exist in the Golem mechanical operator a body fully resembling the human body. Designed in 2454 by High Seas Industries the body is provided to each sentient AI by right.

The body is made to be modifiable with work implants and cosmetics available for purchase. Sentient AI in the military often find themselves in the navy due to their processing time and reflexes.

"I know what I'm going to do even though it goes against logic" - L-OJA13 after being uplifted to class 8.

I just wanted to make some funny war crime robots ok. I think it's kinda cool. But like idk what I'm doing on the programming side of this, so if you gotta a better list for the classes of AI then put it in the comments and I'll appropriate it.
