The Legacy You Leave
Chapter 5
You're my weak spot and I'm yours.
"My day was long and boring. This summer is going to suck." Oscar proclaimed.
"We warned you what would happen if you didn't take school seriously. Stay here with you're brother." Lucas replied.
"Want to play basketball.? Winston asked.
"Next time Win. I need a shower and sleep."
"Growing up is not as fun and cool as I make it look."
"Being a kid is alot better. Don't rush to get older. Trust me." Oscar advised.
...
"Brooke i'm here." Lucas said. Entering the bedroom as he closed it behind himself.
"I don't know what's wrong. And yes I did what you recommended."
"We'll leave now." Brooke replied.
Looking to Lucas. "What's going on?" He asked.
"She's pale. Not hungry. Has a fever."
"I called her doctor. She wants us to bring her in now." Brooke explained.
"Okay. I'll tell Oscar to stay here and watch Winston."
"You get her in the car." Lucas replied. As he left and went into the hallway.
"I'm not staying here. I've been in school all day!" Oscar exclaimed.
"We need to take Stella to her doctor and it would be alot easier to focus on her without bringing winston along."Lucas explained.
"But dad. That's not fair." Oscar replied.
"I don't have time for this." Lucas said. As he left and went after Brooke and Stella.
Oscar let out a frustrated sigh as he laid back on his bed.
"First they make me go to summer school. Then i have to stay here and watch winston for hours."
"They are ruining my life." Oscar confessed.
"My dear let grandma Victoria make everything okay." Victoria replied. With a smile. Clutching her cellphone.
...
Stella was laid on the exam table and carefully examined.
Brooke and Lucas close by.
"Do you have her in daycare?" She questioned.
"We did during the school year and we do now. Why?" Lucas asked.
"She probably caught an illness from one of the other kids."
"Little ones can be germ magnets."
"I'll prescribe medication for her. She needs rest and her hungry will return once she feels better."
"I know it isn't easy seeing her like that but it will go away."
"Medication. Rest. If she wants somethig to eat let her have it but don't push her to eat she'll just reject it." The doctor explained.
"Thank you. We'll do exactly that." Lucas replied.
Brooke thanked the doctor. And grabbed Stella.
Who clung tightly to her.
"Let's get my girls home." Lucas said.
...
"Mom. Dad. What are you doing here?" Brooke questioned.
"You should get Stella up to bed." Lucas said.
"Ma Ma." Stella said softly.
Brooke nodded her head and went upstairs.
When they were out of earshot. The couple glared at Lucas.
"We're well aware you grew up having to fend for yourself while Karen worked at the cafe. But it isn't right fair or proper to leave the boys without an adult in the home." Victoria proclaimed.
Lucas glared at his mother in law. The expression on his face hardened.
"My wife and my children are my first and only priority."
"There was an emergency with Stella. We don't owe you answers and reasons for what we do in our house."
"Brooke's an adult. A wife. A mother. She isn't someone you get to hold back and control." Lucas stated matter of fact.
"When my grandchildren call or visit they will be heard and listened too. I know that's foreign between you and Dan."
"But we are parents. Husbands come and go. I'm waiting for the day my daughter comes to her senses and realizes she deserves alot better Tree Hill Trash. Let's go Vickie." Ted proclaimed.
Lucas sighed deeply. Swallowing hard.
As he heard Brooke's footsteps come towards him in the living room.
"She's asleep. We'll give her the medicine in the morning."
"What did my parents want?" Brooke questioned.
"It doesn't matter now. You need to relax. Our girl will recover just fine." Lucas replied.
