Author's Note: Hey guys, I'm so sorry that it's been almost three years since I updated this story. Reasons being that after graduating high school, I ended up moving to a new city and started my first year of college. Then afterwards, I moved again and I now have a job and I work almost every day of the week; therefore you can definitely see how busy I am now.
But anyways, I really do hope I start to write again because I miss doing it so much and I really want to be more active on here again.
Also, a little side note: Since the first chapter I made is technically not a chapter, I have decided to now add the chapter numbers in the AN and say the real number chapter as I write the story. Hope you all don't mind.
Alright, that's all the updates I have. Enjoy this chapter.
Chapter 3: The Nicest Monsters in Town
"Come on Draculaura, we're going to miss it!" Frankie screamed as she dragged Draculaura by her arm while the two were running out of the school building to make it home in time s they can watch their favorite show.
As that moment was happening, the station and crew that aired The Wherey Where Show was getting ready themselves. Camera mansters were setting their cameras on the producers were putting things in places, and of course the show's dancers were applying themselves with makeup, style, and the station's hairspray, Ultra Clutch Scarespray which was mostly being used by the ghoul dancers. And since most of them were impatient and were in a rush, some of them started to complain when their hairspray was being used way too much since it got into their faces. With Frankie and Draculaura, the ghouls with stitches and fangs climbed all the way in the bus that took them home, and after they made their stop on one of the blocks Frankie used to get home and to school both, the girls kept running and running as fast werewolves would run to catch their breaths.
"Oh my ghoul, this is way worse than P.D.!" Draculaura complained as sweat poured down her face.
"No time to complain, must get home!" Frankie commanded her dead tired out friend. Eventually for them, when the two ran by a TV store they saw the channel that aired the dance show was about ready to air, meaning the two ghouls had enough time to make it; and lucky for those two as well, the mansters and ghouls of The Wherey Where Show were still getting ready.
A few blocks later, the Frankenstein monster and Vampire duo ran up to a joke and prank-influenced store that was owned by Frankie's adopted fire-element father, Heath Burns, and as the store was, Heath was a practical joker. He loved making a fool out of himself and getting a laugh out of whoever stepped into his store; which is what Frankie and Draculaura just did. When the two saw Heath's store, they made their way up the store's steps and then Frankie swung opened the door and saw her father with a few customers.
"Hi dad," greeted a happy, yet desperately Frankie and she shut the door and ran off again. Only leaving behind her confused father and his customers.
Meanwhile back at the show's station, the show was airing in ten seconds and while that went on, Toralei Stripe and Jackson Jekyll from earlier were seen chatting, but also arguing a bit due to Toralei's bossiness and Jackson's insecurity, and also how he was the only normie who worked for the show. However, their argument ended briefly when Jackson was being shoved by the orange werecat from the side and she ran off to be with her co stars.
And finally with the two main ghoulfriends, they made their way to Frankie's apartment to watch the show they were in love with.
"Come on Draculaura, we're missing it!" Frankie squirmed with excitement as she dropped all of her school stuff.
"Gory said that I can't be here without her permission!" A scared Draculaura said but she still dropped her stuff and joined her best friend as Frankie turned on the TV, starting the show.
(As the TV turns on, a black and white screen appears with the show's logo reading "The Wherey Where Show." The show's host, Mr. Wherey Where starts to speak.)
Mr. Where: "Hey there, Teenage Bootimore! Don't change that channel, 'cause it's time for The Wherey Where Show! Brought to you Ultra Clutch Scarespray!'
(Mr. Where starts to sing now, followed by the council members.)
Mr. Where: "Oh every afternoon when the clock strikes four,",
Council Monsters: "Bop-bee-ba, ba-ba-ba-ba, bee-ba."
Mr. Where: "A crazy bunch of monsters crash through that door yeah."
Council Monsters: "Bop-bee-ba, ba-ba-ba-ba, bee-ba."
Mr. Where: "Well they throw off their coats and leave the squares behind, and then they shake it, shake it, shake it like they're losing their mind. You'll never see them frown 'cause they're the nicest monsters in town."
(As this goes on Frankie and Draculaura are dancing a long to the song while Toralei who is dancing on the actual show tries to be the center of attention but has a hard time doing it).
Mr. Where: "So every afternoon your turn your TV on,"
Council Monsters: "Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na."
Mr. Where: "And we know you turn the sound up when your parents are gone, yeah."
(Once this happens, Toralei gets pushed away by another female council monster, making her shriek. The orange werecat shrugs it off annoyingly and continues on.)
Council Monsters: "Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na."
Mr. Where: "And then you twist and shout for your favorite star, and when you've practiced every step, that's in your repertoire. You better come on down and meet the,"
Mr. Where and Council Monsters: "Nicest monsters in town,"
Mr. Where: "Nice light monsters who like to lead the way and once a month we have our,"
Mr. Where and Council Monsters: "Dark Monster Day!"
Mr. Where: "And I'm the monster who keeps it spinnin' round Mr. Wherey Where with the latest, greatest Bootimore sound!"
Mr. Where: "So every afternoon, drop everything woo!"
Council Monsters: "Bop-bee-ba, ba, ba, ba, bee ba!"
Mr. Where: "Who needs to read and write when you can dance and sing?"
Council Monsters: "Bop bee ba, ba, ba, ba, bee ba!"
Mr. Where: "Forget about your algebra and clawculus, you can always do your homework on the morning bus. Can't tell a verb from a noun, they're the,"
Mr. Where and Council Monsters: "Nicest monsters in town!"
Mr. Where: "Roll call!"
(The Council Monsters all get in a line and start to introduce each other, starting off with Toralei.)
Council Monsters: "I'm Toralei, Deuce, Venus, Invisi Billy, Cleo, Hoodude, Rochelle, (zombie moan/"Slo Mo,"), Spectra, Gil, Garrot, Lagoona, Skelita, Catrine, Bram, Simon, Operetta, Meowlody, Purresphone, and I'm Holt!"
(After Holt introduces himself, Frankie and Draculaura scream in excitement as he is their favorite star on the show.)
Mr. Where: "So, if every night you're shaking as you lie in bed."
Council Members: "Pony-pony, ooh, pony-pony."
Mr. Where: "Shake it baby, and the bass and drums are pounding in your head."
Council Monsters: "Mony-mony, ooh, mony-mony."
Mr. Where: "Who cares about sleep when you can snooze in school" They'll never get to college, but they'll sure look cool. Don't need a cap and a gown, when you're the,"
Mr. Where and Council Monsters: "Nicest monsters in town!"
(As the song on the television still keeps on going, Abbey Bominable, a yeti monster and adopted mother of Frankie, walks from her room to the living room.)
"They think ears are garbage cans," The yeti mother irritated as she sees her child and her beast friend happily dancing. "Will you turn racket down, I'm trying to make ice here." Abbey annoyingly explains, but walks away ignored as the song is about to end.
Mr. Where: "They're the nicest, nicest. They're the nicest, nicest. They're the sugar and spice-est nicest kids in,"
Mr. Where and Council Monsters: "Kids in town! Woo!"
(Frankie and Draculaura then clap as the song finishes. The frankenstein monster then turns over to Abbey who is in the middle of making ice.)
"Mom, it's not racket, it's The Wherey Where Show," Frankie calmly debated, but her mother argued back. "Well, it's turning your brain into mud." Draculaura decided to join her friend to help her mother understand by adding, "Mrs. Abbey, it's a new dance!" As they see the show's members dance on screen. Frankie gasped.
"The Stricken Chicken," then she and her pink friend began to copy the show's dance. Abbey exasperated "Well, I can't hear myself think." They yeti monster then focus on her ice making until a voice called her name.
"Abbey," the voice made Frankie and Draculaura looked at each other in concern as it was Draculaura's watcher, Gory Fangwell! Desperate, Draculaura jumped behind the couch as the said watcher came in and just saw Frankie dance in disgust before she eyed the yeti. "Abbey, is my ice ready?"
"Yep, three dollars hun," The yeti handed the vampire her ice as the latter handed her her cash. "That's pricey for only some ice," Gory began to argue, and so did Abbey.
"Well, I'm sorry Gory, but it's lots of ice required for many vampires."
"I don't know what you mean," Gory finished her argument and once again looked disgusted at a dancing Frankie. "You're letting her listen to that monster race music again?" Abbey reluctantly nodded as Gory continued on.
Draculaura spends every afternoon at Belfry Prep to learn how to be a real vampire." When the simulacrum girl heard this, she turned in shock as her mother was about ready to exposed her best friend.
"Oh really? Well, your "so-called" real vampire hap-" Before she can reveal anything else, Frankie attempted to distract her. Abbey saw her daughter waving her arms and just sarcastically went, "Oh, what that, Wavin' Raven? A little twitchey there." The more Frankie went on, the more she attempted to hide her best friend. However, her yeti mama rolled her eyes, put down her ice and thought that it was time for a game of Charades.
"You, Draculaura, no," Abbey said as Frankie began to give her the message, but then gasped in fright. "Francesca Stein, are you telling me that Draculaura didn't get permission from her watcher to be here?" Now with the truth revealed, Draculaura came up from the couch disappointed, but not as disappointed as her watcher.
"Draculaura," Gory began to stomp at her in anger and grabbed the vampire by the arm and began to pull her out of the house. "You are banned from this house and you will never watch this show again!" Draculaura fought back. "Without that show, I have nothing!"
"Having nothing builds character!" The mean vampire shouted back. "Good day, Abbey," Gory happily said before she went to discipline Draculaura.
"Mom, I," Frankie began to talk to her mother, but Abbey just told her to not have another word.
Meanwhile, at the studio where the show was being broadcast, the cast members have just finished their dance and applauded one another for a job well done. Mr. Where especially could've been even prouder.
"Give them a hand everyone." The camera then zooms towards our host with a gentle look on his face. "And once again, that's the Stricken Chicken. We will be right back for some more of that Deadtroit sound." As the buzzer for the show to go off came in, so did Nefera de Nile, a mummy monster and the stern manager of the show's station. Not only was she also these, she was even Cleo de Nile's older sister, one of the show's female leads and in return, they were both Ramses de Nile's daughters, whom happened to own the show's sponsor, Ultra Clutch Scarespray. In conclusion, all three were basically in charge of the show.
"And we're off!" Nefera said as she walked over to show's host. "Wherey, Deadtroit sound? What's that, the cries of monsters being mugged?" The mummy asked in a snooby way as the two went walking off stage. Mr. Where just gently replied. "Nefera deary, the kids dig the rhythm and blues." The mummy just rolled her eyes. "Yeah, their kids; that's why we have to steer them in the light direction." She revealed her plans for the show as the lost was being applied with make up.
"Right direction?" Mr. Where corrected her with a raised eyebrow. Nefera quickly covered her up. "Didn't I say that?" The blue-haired mummy then walked back to the stage and saw her three favorite stars; or at least in her eyes: The female and male leads that keep the show running high, Toralei and Holt, and the star that wasn't perfect in her eyes, but she was her sister in the first place, Cleo. With the show on break and Nefera glaring at him hard, Holt reluctantly morphed back into the person that no one but The Wherey Where cast knew about: Jackson Jekyll, his human and real self both.
"Hello Nefera," Jackson said all sadly.
"Jackson dearly, don't give me such pessimism, you did fantastic like always!" Nefera grinned, which just made the normie upset even more.
"Only because you guys know how I'm only good as a monster for this show." Toralei glared and then turned at him with such death looking visions.
"And you know for ghoul sake, that if you ever expose your little secret, then you expose all of us and we are over!" The orange werecat then hissed before going on. "So be lucky you have us, normie." She looked up at the mummy and they both shared a devious grin. The blue-haired then eyed her little sister. "You're getting the picture, Cleo? My dear young little sister?" Nefera mocked her young sibling by pinching her cheek which just annoyed her, so she briefly pushed her off. "Of course Nefera, what else would I not get?" The young mummy rolled her eyes with detestation as she and her boyfriend, Deuce Gorgon met up with each other and they share a kiss.
"Can you believe it," Cleo asked her boyfriend with an angry expression. "You can tell that she only likes Toralei just so our show can be "popular" when she knows I'm her sister!"
"Babe, calm down; your sister is proud of your skills as much as she is of Toralei's." The gorgon monster with the shades and snake hawk told his girlfriend.
"Oh really," Cleo asked which made Deuce nodded. "Then explain to me what is she telling our camera gargoyle over there?" The mummy pointed into the direction where her sister and the gargoyle were being shown talking to each other. Deuce just shrugged and replied with "something to do with ratings."
"No, she's obviously criticizing him for not allowing Toralei to appear on screen that much today, and how our city is so small, barely no one will recognize her."
"How can you tell," The mummy girl counted down from three and then after one, came Nefera walking towards Cleo and said the exactly following in an upset tone: "I can't believe our camera gargoyle is so useless, he couldn't even get Toralei to barely appear! Does he know how small our city is, how will people recognize her now?" The older sister stomped away upsetting which left the boyfriend of Cleo surprised that his girlfriend was right.
The next afternoon, Frankie and Draculaura were in their school clothes at a TV store where they were watching the show before they were about ready to head home from school. On the show, Holt was about ready to end the song he was singing, "It Takes Two" as the ghouls were watching the show. However, seeing Toralei with the male lead of the show just made the stitched up girl angry.
"This is nuts, she can't even dance!" Frankie told her pink partner which made her agree with her. Frankie just sighed. "Oh Holt, I can dance so much better than her. Why don't you notice me at school?"
"Right," Draculaura agreed.
"Ooh," sung Holt as he finally finished the song; everyone clapped and smiled while Toralei just pecked his cheek with a kiss.
"Hey, that was our very own Holt Hyde singing It Takes Two." Mr. Where explained cheerful and right by him was a werewolf monster whom then revealed herself as Clawdeen Wolf, the host of the show's Dark Monster Day.
"And I'm Clawdeen Wolf, reminding the last Tuesday of this month's your rhythm and blues day. That's right! Dark Monster Day will be coming your way." Clawdeen excitedly explained, but then the camera moved over to Toralei who was being all cheerful for the fame, which just confused the werewolf.
"Uh, over here please," The camera went back to Clawdeen who thanked the camera gargoyle. "So, catch all the crooning when y'all set and tune in." When the host of Dark Monster Day ended her event, the owner of the store saw the gals which made Draculaura panicked.
"The owner's here, he'll call Gory again, let's go!" But Frankie stopped the vampire before she can go because the show had one more announcement to make.
"Well now, it's time to talk to our fun-loving, Rochelle Goyle." Mr. Where said as the female gargoyle came over to his table with a smile on her face. "Rochelle will be taking a leave of absence from the show. How long will you be gone, Rochelle?"
"Just nine months." Rochelle answered towards the camera which surprised the two best friends. Mr. Where continued, "Seems like we'll have an opening here on the show for a ghoul just as fun-loving but maybe not quite as freewheeling."
"Wanna be one of the nicest monsters in town," Holt picked up from the host, "Cut school tomorrow and come down to station MYZT to audition." After hearing the announcement for the show's audition, Frankie's bolts sparked in amazement and she and Draculaura turn to each other as they both knew what they had to do.
AN: Oh man, sorry for this being such a long chapter, I'd wanted to fit in as much elements from the original movie but also mixing in some elements from the show in order for the story to work (That's kind of why the station is called MYZT instead of WYZT to make it stand for monster. XD) Also, in order to avoid some confusion if anyone is new to the story, I made this story before MH was rebooted so that's why there is barely any mentions of the parents of the monsters. Oh and I'm planning to have Deuce and Cleo be main characters in later chapters as the story goes on. Maybe they can be a mix of Seaweed and Penny together along with Draculaura and Clawd since they are also the ones playing the said characters. What do you guys think?
Well, I hope you all enjoy the story!
