Chapter 5: Detention Grove
After she had found herself failing the audition and returning to school, Frankie did her best to return to her homeroom as much as possible; once again by not getting caught by her nasty Home Ick teacher, Ms. Kindergrubber. As the green monster with stitches made her way to her desk, little did she know that she would be exposed.
"Cutting my class, Miss. Francesa Stein?" Hearing her name caused the Frankenstein monster to blush in embarrassment.
"I bet it was important too, huh?" The German accented witch asked with a nasty tone.
"Should've been," Frankie answered in a deadpan tone. With that said, Mrs. Kindergrubber glared at her student and off she wrote her a detention slap; making the mint skinned monster even more embarrassed.
When Frankie made her way to the Detention Room however, she was astonished to hear music and see monsters her age dancing, but it wasn't just any ordinary monsters: these monsters were a lot darker in appearance than her and her own classmates. In fact, there was even a voice in Frankie's head that was telling her that she saw these monsters before, but didn't know where.
The more Frankie kept eyeing them, the more concerned they were, and rightfully so due to the school's own prejudice problem.
"What you looking out," one tan troll said in discomfort, which startled Frankie a bit.
"Nothing! Not at you!" The green monster quickly walked away, setting her bookbag down and went across the Detention Room, and then she saw some big werewolf dressed in a teal and black shirt as well as black pants and sneakers dancing a move that she could easily recognize. Eventually, a dark-skinned mummy boy got her attention.
"Can I help you?" He asked her, being more impatient than the troll.
"That move's swish!" Frankie answered. Seeing how intelligent the ghoul was, the mummy was a bit calmer now.
"You got that right." Afterwards, the big werewolf spoke his turn.
"The manster can dine me on a diet of detention, so long as he don't starve me of my tunes, baby." The werewolf explained his motto as he continued to dance, thus leaving Frankie even more impressed.
"Does that dance have a name?"
"Oh this," the werewolf began to explain. "Call it the "Pawton Place After Midnight," He then went on to reveal why he used it.
"I use it to attract, uh, the opposite sex." Hearing that made Frankie's sparks lit.
"Wow, that is so groovy." The stitched up monster then found her way dancing with the werewolf one step at a time to the point where he returned the favor with both his moves and a big smile on his face.
"You're really good," Frankie complimented.
"Why thank you." The green ghoul finally felt confident enough to reveal her true talent.
"So, would it be kinda like this?" Frankie then began to repeat the same dance moves as the werewolf one by one; eventually horrifying and disgusting the other monsters.
"You can't do that dance!" One monster protested, but the werewolf defended his new friend.
"Hello now, not bad for a light-skin ghoul!" He complimented Frankie, which finally caused her sparks to recognize who she was dancing with.
"Hey, I know where I've seen you before!"
"Where?" the werewolf asked.
"On Wherey's show on Dark Monster Day!" Frankie continued as the two kept dancing. "Dark Monster Day's the best, I wish everyday were Dark Monster Day!" The werewolf was happy to hear someone from a different background recognize him.
"At our house, it is." He replied while looking at the other Dark Monster Day students and around the class as they all chuckled in response.
"Hey, show me another one?" Frankie asked with conviction. The werewolf raised his eyebrow a bit.
"You wanna see another one," he then got ready to show off his skills.
"Well well, here's a little something signified to say: Hello, my name is Clawd," with that said, Clawd began to mimic a lasso as he pretended to grab Frankie with it and started to pull her over.
"Wolf." As the werewolf finished his part, not only were the Dark Monster Day kids impressed by him, but even Frankie was too.
"What's yours, girl?" Now Frankie knew exactly what to do.
"I'm, Fran-kie Stein!" Eventually, now the green ghoul earned the respect of the dark monsters as they cheered her on for dancing.
"You're gonna get it, mint ghoul!" A spider girl with red hair exclaimed.
"Well Frankie," Clawd went on. "You got it going on, ghoul. You one of us." Listening to the words coming out of the werewolf helped boost the undead girl.
"You're joining this program already in progress!" She responded as she danced along to her words.
"So, let's go." Clawd ordered. Now feeling assured and proud of herself, Frankie danced with Clawd and the rest of the Dark Monster Day pupils for the rest of the detention period. Meanwhile, outside of the halls, Holt, The Wherey Where's main male dancer was seen walking with Deuce Gorgon, another dancer on the show.
"No, I get who Caesar is." Holt was explaining to the snake boy. "But what's the Ideas of March? I mean, how can a month have an idea?" Afterwards, the two mansters stopped in front of the Detention Room as they both heard the music coming from the doors.
"Hold on," Holt walked over to the door and along came Deuce as they both were able to view Frankie showing off her skills.
Whoa, was that a short, yet fun chapter or not? I promise to make the next one longer because I really want to continue this story. Man, it felt good writing this again. :)
I'm definitely gonna do my best to update this and A Princess and A Rebel Queen ASAP! Promise this time! See you all later~
P.S. If anyone is wondering why Frankie goes by she/her and not they/them, it's because this was written around the time G1 was still a thing is why. :)
