Chapter 6: I Can Hear the Bells
"Woohoo, I am so ready to get my groove on!" Frankie cheered as she kept on dancing to the beat on her own drum; only to turn around and see that the main male dancer for The Wherey Where show, Holt Hyde himself had just opened the door to the Detention Groove Room. Much to her embarrassment and her new friend's amusement.
"Hey," Holt said as he caught the green ghoul's embarrassment, thus changing the topic and giving her confidence. "You know, Wherey's hosting the Hop tomorrow, and if he saw you dancing like that, he'd put you on the show." Feeling flustered around her celebrity crush, all Frankie could do was smile and nod politely. The fine manster smiled back.
"Cool," The school bell then made its ring. Detention was over and so was the conversation.
"See ya," Holt greeted goodbye, but as he and Frankie were about to go their separate ways, they accidentally made a bump on each other.
"Ooh, sorry little lady." Holt played it off. "Hope I didn't dent your do." Now feeling the confidence she had from growing in the detention room to feeling butterflies in her stomach from finally getting into contact with the monster she loved watching on TV, the green Frankenstein ghoul could only mean one thing: She was falling in love with Holt Hyde from The Wherey Where Show. The more feelings she felt, the more her bolts made a spark, even if it did shock a few bystanders, but at the moment, she didn't care.
After the stitched-up ghoul made her way out of the classroom, she bumped into her best friend Draculaura, who greeted her.
"Hey Frankie, I was looking for you everywhere." However, Frankie was too in love to greet her back.
"What," The vampire replied again, all concerned.
"I can hear the bells." The Frankenstein Monster began to sing.
"What, what are you talking about?" The pink vampire asked all curiously.
(The two ghouls then stared at Holt from down the hallway.)
"Well, don't cha hear 'em chime?" Frankie sang again.
"Chime's not exactly how I'd put it." Draculaura chuckled.
"Can't you feel my heartbeat, keeping perfect time?"
(Frankie grabbed her BFF's hand and placed it on her own chest; which ended up causing awkward stares from others, so the vampire let go on the frankenstein's hand.)
"And all because he: Touched me.
He looked at me and stared.
Yes, he bumped me."
(The two ghouls began walking down the hallway, with Frankie still happily in love and Draculaura still confused over her friend's behavior.)
"My heart was unprepared when he,
Tapped me, and knocked me off my feet."
(Frankie and Draculaura keep walking down the hallway, and even the Frankenstein monster does a little twirl.)
"One little touch, now my unlife's complete."
(Eventually, Frankie's love struck mood causes her to bump and push other students aside; much to their annoyance.)
"Cause when he nudged me, love put me in a fix.
Yes, it hit me,
Just like a ton-a bricks.
Yes, my heart burst."
(The mint green monster pulls a manster student aside to the lockers as she continues singing.)
"Now I know what life's about!
One little touch and love knocked me out, and I can hear the bells."
(The scene then switches over to Frankie accidentally wandering off into the teacher's lounge, where some of them were even smoking cigarettes.)
"My head is spinning!"
(She begins to sing in front of the teachers.)
"I can hear the bells, something's beginning!
Everybody says that a ghoul who looks like me,"
(Draculaura eventually finds her best friend and pulls her out of the room, just as Frankie takes the teacher's donut to munch on.)
"Can't win his love. Well, just wait and see 'cause,"
(Frankie is now seen in the nurse's office; courtesy of Draculaura due to still being concerned for her best friend's health.)
"I can hear the bells,
Just hear them chiming."
(The nurse treating Frankie shakes the thermometer and puts it in the monster's mouth.)
"I can hear the bells,
My temperature's climbing.
I can't contain my joy,
'Cause I finally found the boy
I've been missing!"
(Finally, the nurse takes out the thermometer to check Frankie's temperature. Frankie then lifts herself off from the mat excitedly.)
"Listen, I can hear the bells."
(Frankie then drags Draculaura and her out of the nurse's office, leaving the nurse confused. The scene then turns to Frankie's locker.)
"Round one, he'll ask me on a date,
And then,"
(She sings this as she not only places a kiss on her locker-sized Holt Hyde poster, but then Holt himself appears as she slams the locker door.)
"Round two,
I'll primp but won't be late
Because,"
(As she sings, she once again opens up her locker to prepare herself for the date. The date being them in a car as Holt fixes his flaming, fiery hair in the rearview mirror while Frankie is at the wheel.)
"Round three, is when we kiss
Inside his car!
Won't go all the way, but I'll go pretty fa-ar!"
(The scene turns out to be nothing, but an imaginary sequence all made by Frankie as she's in her Driver's Dead Class and the instructor looks puzzled at her. Later, we switch to the Frankenstein ghoul in her music class with her playing the triangle.)
"Round four,
He'll ask me for my hand and then,
Round five, we'll book the wedding band so by,"
(We are now in Frankie's gym class as they are playing Dodgeball.)
"Round six,
Toralei, much to your surprise,"
(Frankie sings this part with much aggression, but she ends up being hit by a ball in the torso so hard that it causes her arms to pop up.)
"This stitched-up champion takes the prize!"
(Later on, Frankie makes her way to the ghouls' restroom; still singing her love song with Draculaura still following along.)
"And I can hear the bells, my ears are ringing."
(She then enters a stall.)
"I can hear the bells.
The bridesmaids are singing!"
(She sings this towards a trio of female students, who look annoyed at her as they smoke some cigarettes themselves. The mint monster with stitches comes out of the stall with a veil and bouquet of flowers made out of toilet paper.)
"Everybody says that a manster who's such a gem, won't look my way,
Well, the laugh's on them 'cause,"
(She throws the toilet paper bouquet at one of the ghouls, who catches it out of confusion, but also annoyance as well. Afterwards, Frankie makes her way up to the mansters' restroom window as she views the fire manster grooming himself in the mirror; without getting caught. She continues her song.)
"'Cause I can hear the bells,
My father will smile.
I can hear the bells,
As he walks me down the aisle!
My mother starts to cry,
But I can't see 'cause Holt and I are French kissing!
Listen, I can hear the bells."
(A background voice then begins to join Frankie.)
("Ahh, ahh, ahh,
Ahh, ahh.")
(Draculaura and Frankie then make their way to another class.)
"I can hear the bells,
My head is reeling.
I can hear the bells,
I can't stop the peeling!
Everybody warns that he won't like what he'll see,
But I know that he'll look inside of me.
Yeah, I can hear the bells.
Today's just the start
'Cause I can hear the bells!"
(The green-skinned monster opens up a curtain to see both Holt and Toralei about to board the bus to the show, along with their other cast members. She also smiles brightly and places her hand on the glass window.)
"Until undeath do us part and,
Even when we undie,
We'll look down from up above,
Remembering the night,
That we two fell in love."
(As Toralei plants a kiss on Holt, Frankie's smile fades away and she removes her hand from the window.)
"We both will shed a tear,
And he'll whisper as we're reminiscing!"
(Frankie then sits down in her seat as she's about to end her song.)
"Listen, I can hear the bells."
("She can hear the bells.")
"I can hear the bells."
("She can hear the bells.")
"I can hear the bells."
("Bum, bum, bum.")
AN: Good god, this chapter took forever to write! I felt like I was going to get carpal tunnel the more I kept writing it Lol. But yay, it's over! I will admit, I didn't want Frankie smacking her butt at the beginning of the story, just like what Tracey did in the original movie, but yet, I had her reference frenching. ^^; Honestly, I refuse to sexualize her at the beginning since she technically qualifies as a minor.
Anyways, hope you all enjoy it!
