6pm

"I should probably get going soon. Am I still OK to have a Emilia for a few hours?" Jack asked Rose quietly. "Of course…" she answered "Emmy, are you ready to go?" Rose asked, getting a nod in response "can I go in my pyjamas though? My dress is annoying me now" Emilia complained, getting a small chuckle back. "If Jack is happy with that" Rose said "that's fine" he let out a small laugh before noticing the disgusted look that Betty was giving him. "Having your child walk the streets in her pyjamas? You're not serious?" She spat at Rose. "It's Christmas Day, the roads are hardly busy… and Jack lives 5 minutes away. No one will notice the 7 year old in her pyjamas" Rose shook her head, trying not to roll her eyes. "Go and get changed Emmy" Rose said and watched as Emilia left the room before seeing Henry glare at his Mother.

6.30pm

Once Emilia had said goodbye the 4 remaining adults and her brothers, she and Jack headed back to his house.

"She couldn't have gone with him tomorrow? She had to be away from her family on Christmas Day?" Betty said, once again in a passive aggressive tone as she held Alfie. "For the love of God" Rose muttered and stood up, leaving the room and heading to the kitchen. "Kitchen. Now" Henry glared at Betty as he instructed her to leave the room, not wanting Charlie to hear their conversation.

Henry entered the kitchen to find Rose washing the dishes, clearly trying to distract herself, but she stopped when Henry took the towel from her and looked up as Betty and Theodore entered the room, Betty still holding Alfie.

"I would like you to leave" Henry said bluntly as Betty. "I'm sorry?" Betty raised an eyebrow. "We made it very clear how we wanted you to behave in our house and you have chosen not to respect that- even in front of our children. So I want you to leave. Dad, you are more than welcome to stay, seen as you have respected us" Henry nodded at his Father. "Have you lost the ability to speak?" Betty raised an eyebrow at Rose "no" Rose said, confidently for once. "I just don't have anything to say to you. I agree with everything Henry has just said" Rose said. "Well I have a lot to say!" Betty snapped "in all honesty, Betty, I don't want to hear it" Rose shrugged. "Mother, I won't ask you again!" Henry snapped, not wanting the situation to escalate. "Jack wouldn't be here if she hadn't slept around out of wedlock on some stupid ship! None of this would be happening to you!" Betty said, her voice ever so slightly raised. "HOW DARE YOU?!" Henry shouted, but soon regretted it when Alfie began to cry as he reached for Rose, who walked towards him and Betty. Betty moved away so Rose couldn't take Alfie. "Pass him here" Rose said firmly "he's fine with me" "I'll ask you one more time, give me my baby or I will happily drag you out of my house. You may be my Mother in law, but right now I despise you just as much as I do my own Mother" Rose gritted her teeth. "Betty, give Alfie to Rose- he's upset" Theodore said, relieved when she handed him over. "You are unbelievable! How dare you speak to me like that! Henry, aren't you going to say something?!" Betty look at Henry, shocked that he hadn't jumped to her defence, but he shrugged "yes, you should have handed our son over to his Mother when you were told to the first time" he said coldly as Rose walked towards the door to leave the kitchen. "Oh, and just so you know Betty, I will never regret sleeping with Jack 'out of wedlock', I wouldn't have Emilia if it wasn't for that, and she is something I will never regret" Rose glared at her "and as you have supposedly considered her 'your grandchild' since Henry and I met, I thought you may agree. Darling, if you wouldn't mind showing your Mother out?" Rose looked at Henry as she left the room and headed back to the living room to check on Charlie.

7pm

Once Henry had shown his parents out, after much protesting from Betty, he headed in to the living room where Rose was sat on the sofa holding a now sleeping Alfie, as Charlie lay cuddled in to her side, half asleep.

"Tired buddy?" Henry asked, getting a small, sleepy nod in response. "Come on, let's get you up to bed" Rose said quietly as she squeezed Charlie's shoulder gently before Henry lifted him up as Rose stood up and followed them upstairs with Alfie.

8.30pm

"What. A. Day" Rose sighed as she collapsed on to hers and Henry's bed. "I'm sorry for threatening your Mother" she said, not meaning it, but feeling the need to apologise for putting Henry in the position she had. "You shouldn't have done it…" Henry sighed, seeing Rose's side of the argument but also being annoyed that she had threatened to drag Betty 'out of the house'. "And she shouldn't have made such comments about me 'sleeping around' nor brought Emilia in to it. I didn't sleep around at all- one person, Henry. And as I said, I'd do it all over again if it meant I got Emilia" Rose snapped "and you didn't seem to have a problem standing up for me downstairs!" Rose continued. "You're my wife! Of course I'm going to defend you! But that doesn't mean it's OK for you to speak to my Mother like that!" He snapped back "but it's OK for her to speak to me like that? More or less call me a whore, imply she sees Emilia as less than Charlie and Alfie because she's not their biological grandchild?" Rose raised an eyebrow "she didn't say any of those things!" Henry suddenly began to defend his Mother "no, but she implied them, and that's enough" Rose shook her head in disbelief. "I'm going to collect Emilia" Rose said as she stood up. "It's late and dark out, why isn't Jack bringing her back?" Henry asked. "Because I need the walk" she said. "He didn't even offer to bring her back? Wow, what a gentleman" Henry scoffed. "No, in fact he DID offer to bring her back, and that was the plan, but right now, I need a few minutes to myself, if that's OK with you?" Rose glared at him as she left their bedroom and headed out the house, not giving him a choice.
