Stiles was zoned out the entire time I was working to get him undressed. I left his undergarments where they were and got him redressed in the comfy pajamas as quickly as possible. I laid him down and moved to go sit in the chair, but he asked me to stay with him. So I sat on his bed and he rested his head in my lap. I covered him up and sang him a lullaby. He fell asleep quickly and I knew it was because he was so exhausted. I kept my hand on his forehead so that he knew I was here. I heard the front door and then shuffling footsteps coming down the hallway. I looked at the door.
"Stiles," Stiles father was standing there, "who the hell are you?"
I smiled at him, "This isn't what it looks like, sir. I'm your new deputy, sir. I'm here because something supernatural happened to your son tonight. I was there right after it happened and brought him home. The thing that happened tonight really scared him, sir. I didn't want to leave him alone, and I need you to listen to what happened before you get mad for my presence in your son's room."
He looked between me and Stiles and then back at me.
"I'm listening." I smiled at him.
"When I found your son tonight he was hiding in his jeep and he was afraid. He seemed to be hiding from something when I found him. Before I brought him home he told me he had been attacked by a supernatural creature." He narrowed his eyes at me.
"So since you know about the supernatural what are you?" I let my eyes glow.
"I'm an elf," he gasped in surprise, "your eyes. I've never seen any supernatural creature with glowing green eyes before. What exactly are you capable of?"
I reached my hands around to the back of my neck and unclasped my necklace. I heard him step back and I looked up at him.
"I am able to hide what I am with magic through enchanting an object. I am here because the group I'm apart of has sent three people here and only one returned. However he was severely injured and his memories had been altered. The group I am apart of has a job to investigate supernatural occurrences, but we also protect those who know of the supernatural yet don't have any abilities. We protect people like you and your son." I looked down at Stiles remembering how much he didn't want to tell his dad what happened.
I looked back up at Stiles father, "the supernatural being who attacked your son is dead. Are you ready and willing to ignore the law for your son?"
"Are you telling me he actually killed someone," I could see that he feared arresting his son, "no. Stiles didn't willingly kill anyone. He defended himself against a human boy who had been given supernatural abilities. Instead of that boy moving on, he tried to kill Stiles and Stiles defended himself. That resulted in the boys death. You know what's worse than that though? Stiles said you would react the way you did. He was so afraid to tell his own father because he knew exactly how you would react. Take it from someone who has been protecting humans her entire life. You are lucky he managed to survive being attacked by a supernatural all on his own, Noah. A normal human with no knowledge or belief in the supernatural wouldn't have survived. Your son came out injured instead of dead, be thankful for that Noah. His injuries are healed already. I made sure to heal his wounds because I knew he wouldn't go to the hospital. Be thankful he is alive, home, and in one piece."
Noah came closer and knelt down next to Stiles bed. He reached his hand out to touched Stiles' shoulder and he flinched in his sleep. I saw guilt flash in Noah's eyes as he looked up at me.
"Are you absolutely sure he had no other choice?" I nodded.
Noah looked back down at his son and sighed.
"I wish he would've come to me, but I know him. He's had to deal with so much, most of it by himself. I know deep down he shouldn't have had to," he looked up at me, "thank you for being there for him when I couldn't be."
He stood up his eyes never leaving his son. I could see that he was blaming himself.
"Noah," he looked at me, "I feel like I failed him."
I shook my head, "you'll only fail him if you don't take his side, Noah. He blames himself enough for killing someone even though it was in self-defense. If Stiles hadn't fought back Noah, he wouldn't be home safe and sound."
Noah glanced down at Stiles, "will you stay with him tonight? I need to go speak to the vet to get a supernatural safety measure for my home. Then I have to go back to the station. I want to stay, but I think it will be better if it's just you in the morning. If you harm him though in anyway I will kill you myself, do you understand?"
I smiled at him, "I would expect nothing less, Noah. Just make sure you're home before he wakes up, it won't be me he wants in the morning. It will be you."
Noah nodded, glancing at his son one more time and then walked out of the room.
