'Oh, damn.' Buffy thought. 'I had lunch with Willow and Johnathan and it never once occured to me to find out if they were planning to go to the Bronze tonight, they did hint yesterday that they would. I should have remembered, that damn Watcher, gods I want to blame him, but it's my own fault and there they are and my vamp senses are going haywire!' She stared in dread at the door, waiting for the mass of vamps coming to do this Harvest dealio with her new friends as sitting ducks.
Alex looked at the group of badly dressed individuals just walking down the middle of the street, heading, if he wasn't mistaken, toward the Bronze. "I'm not imagining this, am I?" He asked Cordelia.
"If you are, then I am too." She assured him. "Vampires, stinking vampires and not being at all discrete."
"Make sure your buckle's secure." He told her. "Detroit steel beats pretty much everything."
Cordelia threw him a wild look and grinned at his gleeful look. "Are we going bowling for our date, Alex?" She asked.
"What the Hell, there's a first time for everything." He pushed the accelerator to the floor of the car and shot forward, slamming into the group of about a dozen vampires, sending some flying and others were run over by the restored Bel Aire. He swerved and hit another that was trying to get up and then slammed into reverse and drove back over some of them. "Uncle Rory will be both impressed and annoyed." Alex said, as he felt a tire give. "Okay, out and run for the Bronze. We can outrun vamps any day of the week." The two teens were out and running as the vamps struggled to pick themselves up off the ground. Every one of them had injuries, including broken bones and were bleeding and hurting and reduced to snarling fury as they tried to follow the racing teens, who really could out run vamps.
"Gang on PCP incoming!" Alex yelled at the bouncer, who took one look at the things chasing Alex and Cordelia and swung the door open and motioned them in. He slammed it shut as he followed them in and locked it.
"Everyone out the back!" The bouncer yelled. "There's a messed up gang out front and that's more trouble than we need! Get to your cars and get out of here, I'll call the cops and they can deal with those guys!" A banging on the door convinced the teenagers he was serious and they made for the back door of the club and their cars. Buffy herded Willow and Johnathan in front of her, throwing looks over her shoulder at the front door and wondering how long it would hold.
Alex and Cordelia followed Jesse and Aura to Jesse's car. "What happened to your car?" Jesse exclaimed as the four climbed into it.
"We went bowling with vampires." The incredulous look Jesse shot hin would have been hilarious under other circumstances.
Buffy had just gotten Willow and Johnathan to Giles' car, when the vampires reached them. She swung around to face them and was astonished to see the massive number of injuries they were sporting. She dusted the one nearest to her and kicked out the injured leg of another. She could see others struggling to walk or shuffle toward the teens locking themselves in their cars and trying to drive around them.
"Alex, look." Aura pointed. "Isn't that the new girl, Buffy. Looks like she didn't quite make it to the car. We have to help her." Jesse aimed his own car at the vamps and ran one down as Alex jumped out and grabbed another, it was a huge guy with a weird fleshy mark on his head. Alex punched him, than planted a foot on the guys knee and jump kicked him in the face, bloodying it. The big guy staggered back into the path of another car and got slammed hard by the panicked teenager driving it and sent flying, hitting the ground hard and not moving, either knocked out or in too much pain. The panicking teens in the various cars kept driving, getting as far as they could from the crazy gang members. Jesse drove over another and none of them noticed Buffy staking the vampires, too busy attacking or fleeing them, as the case might be, themselves.
No one except a wide eyed Willow and Johnathan, locked in Giles' car. His tiny, ugly, old and very slow moving car that he couldn't get to start.
"What the Hell is going on?!" Willow demanded.
"I really hope someone has an explanation that makes sense." Johnathan answered as he saw Buffy dust the big guy they'd seen Alex attack and the car send flying. "Or maybe somebody spiked our drinks."
"We had cans of pop." Willow reminded him. "I'm pretty sure we haven't been drugged. Which means that is not a gang on PCP. They're not people at all. People don't turn to dust."
"By morning you'll have convinced yourself it never happened." Giles told them. "It's easier to do that than accept that vampires actually exist."
"Vampires?!" The two teenagers exclaimed as the pieces of the puzzle clicked into place as quiet descended around them, the rest of the teens having driven off and they saw Alex climb into Jesse's car and Jesse drive off as well. Giles was still struggling to get his car started when Buffy returned and Jesse stopped down the block next to Alex's car and the two of them changed the blown tire and Alex carefully drove his no longer in perfect shape Bel Aire away.
"Another date night ruined by vampires!"
