Chapter 4
She knocked. She needed to organize her portfolio but she couldn't afford a computer or even the money she needed to print. All she had was a stack of four plastic folders she had brought for a dollar to place every
"Hi, Sheldon" She was so happy he answered the door. "Can I borrow your computer"
"Of course. Here you go but I don't own a laptop. It's in the middle of the living room. Don't worry Leonard isn't here. He went to a conference"
She smiled and took out her notebook. She had to retype a lot of her poems. She had already selected them by using a happy face but she hated typing.
She barely typed half the page and it was already 7 pm.
"My you type slow. Want me to type it?"
"Are you sure, Sheldon? Sure I am sure plus this will count as my computer time. So what am I typing?"
"Only the ones with a smiley face. The first one is half-way finish"
Sheldon began to type and she was grateful for his assistance. She moved towards the kitchen to grab something for them to drink. Five minutes later two cups of hot chocolate were ready. When she approached Sheldon she saw him still typing. She smiled and said "Sheldon sweetie your hot chocolate is ready"
He turned around and she could see a faint line of tears. He wiped them away and took the cup. He turned around again and began to type once more.
Penny didn't know what to say but she was too afraid of breaking their silence. Another hour passed and Sheldon loudly proclaimed "Now we press print!"
Her poems were printed and before she could grab them to leave Sheldon stopped her. "I haven't finish binding them yet!"
"Sheldon, you don't have to do that. "
"I always print and bind my most important presentations. I select the best linen paper and the transparent swirly thing better than Kinkos."
"Uhh, Sheldon Kinkos doesn't exist anymore"
"Well, of course not their service was awful"
He returned a minute later with two bound copies.
"I always print two. One as a keepsake"
"Thank you Sheldon"
"You're welcome. By the way Penny thanks for making me cry"
"What what?". Penny looks shocked.
"No, it's fine. It was a good cry. Scientists say it's good for you anyhow.
Well, I'm rambling. Tomorrow is a special day you should go get some rest"
"You're right. Good night, Sheldon"
Before she fell asleep Penny prayed that everything would turn out fine.
