AN: Took me quite the time rewriting this due to complication from home and school.

3rd of Esvallia 1915.

Major Manroe sternly observed yet another illegal immigrant attempting to cross the borders, noticing a steady increase in their numbers.

Desperate pleas fell on deaf ears as the man begged for mercy, but duty prevailed. "Send them away," commanded the Major firmly.

Days like this dragged on relentlessly, each one a cruel reminder of the shattered lives left in the wake of a civil war.

Families torn apart as some were allowed passage while others faced rejection, their hopes dashed against the harsh reality of border politics.

The sudden attacks on the Gloni Border Companies only added to the pervasive sense of unease.

The memory of the sudden assaults in Ansver, which claimed countless lives, lingered like a haunting specter, a constant reminder of the ever-present danger lurking beyond the border.

In the midst of such chaos and uncertainty, one couldn't help but wonder why anyone would choose to remain in a nation torn apart by corruption and consumed by conflict.

The Major's contemplation was abruptly interrupted by his First Lieutenant, who reported, "Major, we've apprehended all the trespassers."

A nod. "First Lieutenant Marsh, don't be too formal," said the Major before sighing.

The First Lieutenant chuckled, "Why not? Not used to the rank?" said Marsh.

The Major slumped, nodding silently before casting his gaze back to the border, where barbed wires and wooden pillars stood as their support.

With towers erected every mile, they also had their own guardhouses stationed along the border.

Not far away, he could see the refugee camp with his bonocular, the problem only continuing to grow along with the threat it posed.

Those damned Cinyan politicians, they never even gave a damn about their own people. And of course, the problems were most certainly never because of that war.

The Major wanted to believe, sighing again this time in exhaustion, with the First Lieutenant growing increasingly concerned.

"You know, maybe you should take a bit of a break, Manroe," Marsh suggested, his tone tinged with concern.

Then again, he might be right, considered the Major. Ever since the 88th Light Reaction Force Regiment had been ordered to withdraw.

They had been left overstretched, especially his own company, which had previously been jointly manning Fort Gloni's operation with them.

Another pressing issue was the ever-increasing influx of refugees, with no signs of it slowing down.

This posed a significant problem as the potential for foreign spies and terrorists infiltrating their country grew larger by the day.

Consequently, the previously under-equipped border guards were equipped with military-grade gear.

Suddenly, Marsh stated, "You know, a lot of our guys... I mean, a lot of people within the border company see you in high regard," he said, glancing back towards the border.

The long lines of immigrants being still checked, their days seem to constantly worsen by the day.

Not to mention the attacks within the border and clashes against Cinyan separatists.

"I might just take you up on that offer," the Major replied to his friend.

With a nod, Marsh spoke, "You should know you're highly respected by both the brigadiers and other majors. I'll send this request up." With that, he left the room.

He continued to observe, the constant repetition of events was taking its toll on all of them.

At any moment, one of those refugees might pull a bomb on them, killing themselves and others.

And it already happened, with Ansver being the worst hit out of the entire border region.

He doubted the peaceful days would last. However, he wondered if someone might have been tampering with the barbed fences.

All that pondering had to wait as he had stacks of documents to go through. Of course, all most all of them were inspection background checks.

A knock on the door interrupted the Major's thoughts. "Come in," he replied, wondering who it was.

"Captain Lagoon reporting!" shouted the newcomer. Captain Lagoon had been given the green light from the Major, and he was now waiting for his report.

"Abnormal activities have been reported near the border camps," reported Captain Lagoon with a salute.

"According to eyewitnesses, they've seen men with armor similar to the Sadianan design, riding on horseback. Conditions are worsening, and the number of refugees continues to increase."

With that, the major nodded, issuing his order to Captain Lagoon. "Captain, get me a drawing of this mystery. But first, inform the lead organizer of the aid workers here to get that."

"Sir, yes, Sir," replied Captain Lagoon.

As he leaned back in his chair, he began to ponder when this situation would reach its breaking point.

He turned to sign some of the papers for inspection, carefully scrutinizing each one.

Additionally, he had to ensure that the lists suggested by other majors were properly reviewed and considered.

Normalcy came to an abrupt end as his friend burst into the room in a panic.

"Manroe, there's been another attack!" he shouted as he entered the room.

Taken aback, Manroe asked in utter confusion, "From who?"

"I'm not too certain, we got multiple reports from Major Traze. His company force just got attacked by something," he worriedly said.

"Marsh, where was his company at right now?" asked the major as he turned towards the local map, with pins designating where each company was stationed.

The rarity of its usage stemmed from communication challenges, sporadic movements, and staff reductions.

First Lieutenant Marsh quickly pinpointed the location, stating, "They're over there in the refugee camps, escorting international relief workers."

Manroe paled at the boldness of the Cinyan rebels. He quickly turned to relay his orders, "Tell the section manning the communications to alert other companies. Also, send this up the chain of command. After that, take command of the front sections." With that, First Lieutenant Marsh left swiftly.

The major swiftly stood, gathering his equipment—a standard revolver and a saber given by a friend.

Soon, he would leave the room. Major Manroe's company had the task of protecting and manning Fort Gloni, and they had been trained to utilize Gloni's 120mm Fose Fixed Howitzer.

Along with the 7.5 caliber Coolent Machine gun and the Wilson machine gun, most of which had been distributed around the fortress.

As soon as he arrived at the communication room, the first thing he asked was about the status.

"Sectoin Captain Caiga, what's the status of Major Traze?" asked the major urgently, eliciting only a sigh in response.

The section captain spoke, "Major Manroe, the only thing we heard after his call for reinforcements was silence. We tried changing the frequency, but nothing came," he said despondently.

Manroe quickly inquired, "What about the brigadiers' and colonel's orders?"

The section captain then reiterated what the brigadier had conveyed through the transmission.

"Section captain, tell your major not to advance nor send anyone to aid. I will be going there personally alongside my company. Instruct him to get the howitzers ready and wait for our command. Put everything on the highest alert."

With a swift nod from the major, Manroe turned to the section captain to see if there were any more updates.

The section captain replied that it was the last one and added that other Gloni Border companies were heading their way.

With that information gained, they acted swiftly. Manroe left the room and headed towards the artillery section, only to hear the sounds of the Wilson gun come alive.

He heard a roar that sounded like some sort of animal, prompting him to sprint towards the three sections manning the artillery post.

As he arrived, he immediately checked the status of the four 120mm howitzers, then turned to inspect the remaining six 80mm cannons.

As soon as he arrived, one of the section captains approached him, waiting patiently until the major finished observing before giving his report.

As the major turned to the section captain, who saluted, he received the report. "Major! Reporting, we spotted a mysterious flying creature high above us. It was moving in an observing pattern. Another thing, when I used my binoculars to get a closer look, well..." He stopped there.

The major looked serious. "And what is it that you saw, Captain?"

The captain spoke a bit more skeptically before he finally continued. "It's a dragon with a human rider. Please do take it seriously."

"So, what did you do?" asked the major.

He replied, "Major, I ordered it shot down."

"And where's the body now?" inquired the major.

He only pointed outward to where he estimated it was. With that, the major ordered them to be ready at a moment's notice.

With a nod from the section captain, the major left, heading for the barbed wires to organize teams for retrieval.

As he headed for the barbed wires, he was accompanied by two other Border guards armed with the Fose Volt-Action rifles.

They continued, passing other border guards, many of whom had seen the five dragons that had been observing them.

As he stepped outside of the fortress beyond the gate, he could hear the roars of 80mm cannons. He observed the concrete trenches ahead.

As he ran, heading for the guard post accompanied by two other border guards, he opened it, spotting 1st Lt. Marsh and 2nd SC Callen. Both stared at his interruption.

Both would salute, but dismissal stopped that. "So, what's the situation on the ground?" asked the Major.

2nd SC Callen spoke, "Not too great, sir. Those Cinyans are getting antsy. Sooner or later, they're gonna start making trouble."

Meanwhile, 1st Lt Marsh gave his own report, "We were contacted by Major Garez. His heading to the fort to rally just in case. On another point, our sections are ready for anything they would throw at us."

He waited to see if they had any additional information to provide. With nothing more forthcoming, the Major gave new orders, saying, "Very well, 2nd Sc Callen, assemble five men who can quickly move and send them to me."

"Understood, Major!" replied 2nd Sc Callen as he quickly left the guard post.

The Major then turned towards 1st Lt Marsh. "1st Lt Marsh, any update on the response from the brigadier?"

"Major, we have yet to receive any response from the brigadier," stated the First Lieutenant.

With that, the Major waited until five men soon arrived. As they entered, the men gave a quick salute. The squad then introduced themselves as Corporal Ederson, Lance Corporal Bover, Enlisted Yiur, Enlisted Varco, and Enlisted Garet.

"Now listen up squad, your new order is to take samples from this location and ensure its complete delivery to me."

"Do you understand that, Border Guards?" The major shouted.

The men returned a salute and shouted, "Sir, yes sir!" as they quickly left, heading for their destination.

As they left, the major retrieved his binoculars from within the guard post, observing the situation from afar.

Slowly, he turned towards the Cinyan refugees, the two sections having been sent to reinforce the border customs. With so many refugees, the situation remained tense.

And then he saw it, a number of refugees panicking and running desperately towards them, with many more following behind.

They were soon followed by disgusting-looking creatures, and to his disbelief, a massive ogre.

He watched patiently as the slaughter unfolded, witnessing another refugee being cut down, desperately pleading for her child's survival, only to be brutally stabbed by the grotesque creature.

His patient watching the sluaghter as another refugee was cut down desperately pleading for her childs survival, only for her to be stab brutaly by the grotesque child.

He looked toward the two border guards with him and gave an order, "Sergeant Hazo, send word to 2nd Sc Caiga, transmit to high command that Fort Gloni is under serious attack."

Next, he turned towards the 2nd Lieutenant and gave another command, "2nd Lieutenant Faser, send word to 2nd Sergeant Callen. Lead the refugees within the fort. I will take full responsibility for the outcome." With his orders sent, 2nd Lieutenant Faser left.

Left alone, the Major cursed under his breath. He then used his binoculars to double-check on Corporal Ederson's squad, feeling weary of the upcoming days.

"Marshal Frank!" the transmission officer's urgent voice pierced the air. "We've got a situation unfolding all along the Gloni border, Marshal." The urgency in his tone was palpable, echoing the gravity of uncertainty.

As the marshal swiftly moved to inquire about the situation upon his arrival at the transmission officer's station, he wasted no time in seeking answers. "What's happening?" he demanded, his tone brimming with concern.

"Marshal Frank, we're receiving reports from multiple Gloni Border Companies of attacks unfolding across the entire border," the transmission officer reported.

However, before he could delve further into the details, the marshal turned his attention to another transmission officer, indicating a sense of urgency and the need for immediate action.

"

Get me the general staff. Another thing, I want an update from the Ansver border, tell me their situation. Put them on Defense Status 1. I need more information on what's going on in Gloni. Get me in contact with Colonel Evermark, order him to mass the Gloni Border Guard in the fortress."

With orders swiftly given by the marshal, his staff sprang into action with organized chaos.

They moved quickly and efficiently to fulfill the marshal's commands, ensuring that each task was carried out with precision and urgency.

As hours passed, the reports from Fort Gloni continued to grow ever more grim.

Colonels and generals arrived, their faces etched with concern and determination as they assessed the situation and deliberated on the best course of action.

After thorough discussions, orders were swiftly sent to the nearest regiments, mobilizing them for action.

The urgency of the situation was palpable, and every moment counted as they prepared to respond to the escalating crisis at the Gloni border.

--(88th LRFR)--

In the outskirts of Ansver, within the Esliledio region, the 88th Light Reaction Force Regiment had recently been roused from their slumber.

Sudden orders, emanating from the highest echelons of command, had commanded the full mobilization of the regiment for battle.

Colonel Lergas Whaker, a seasoned veteran, swiftly received the comprehensive directive, his senses heightened by the gravity of the situation.

Even at their most prepared, it was unlikely they could arrive swiftly, hindered by the incomplete state of the railroad. Adding to the challenge was the suddenness of the call to action.

Two companies had already been dispatched to reinforce Ansver, highlighting the urgency and severity of the situation from pass attacks.

Their best estimate placed their arrival at a minimum of fifteen days, and at worst, seventeen.

Within this timeframe, the primary challenge would be organizing the force swiftly upon arrival, ensuring they could effectively respond to the escalating situation.

With all considerations taken into account, the 88th LRFR initiated the mobilization process, a meticulous undertaking that would consume at least a day.

The soldiers of the 88th LRFR swiftly embarked on their assigned vehicles and horses, their determination palpable as they set forth towards Gloni, leaving two companies behind to fortify Ansver's defenses.

(Fose Volt-Action Rifles)

The Fose Volt-Action Rifle emerged as a solution to the pressing need for a replacement of the aging Marshal Falher breech-loading rifle. Recognizing this imperative, Schneider Von Fose, driven by a vision for the future armament of the Charterian army, embarked on the design process.

After rigorous development and refinement, the rifle was finally accepted on Saterian 28, 1887, with its design receiving approval from the Ministry of Capital Defense. Officially designated as the standard rifle for Charteria and its Empire, it was swiftly integrated into military operations by Markvia 19, 1887.
