Mario's Madness: Sky's Story

Chapter 1: Sky Meets Horror Mario

Dead weight... That is what Sky was feeling before slowly opening her eyes and regaining consciousness. When she came to, she sat up and checked her surroundings, unaware of where she was or what had happened to her.

All Sky could remember was going into Boyfriend's house, only to find the couple not present, finding the TV showing red static, and getting pulled inside by a bloodied hand. She clutched her head, feeling it pulsating from the impact as she very weakly tried to move.

"Ugghhh...My head. Where am I? What happened?" Sky thought to herself as she got to her feet and dusted herself off. "What is this place?"

Sky began to walk around, in hopes to find out where she is and what situation she landed herself in. While she was walking, she felt something crack underneath her boot. She looked down to see what she kicked, only to see a lantern on the ground. Sky kneeled down, picked up the lantern, grabbed her lighter and lit it.

With the light source, she was able to see the area a bit better. That's when she noticed a building in front of her. Upon closer look, she noticed that she appeared to be in front of a destroyed castle of sorts.

"I need to find a way out of here. Hopefully, I can find something in this castle." Sky thought to herself.

With that, Sky held the lantern and proceeded to walk inside the dark castle.

If she thought the outside of the castle looked destroyed, the inside looked worse. The inside looked like something out of a horror game. Regardless, Sky continued her walk through the dark castle. While she was walking, she suddenly began to feel shivers down her spine.

Every step she took, she can hear things. Some of the sounds were cries and screams, and other sounds could have been her footsteps on the cold hard floor. But what freaked her out more…was the whispers she was hearing. She tried humming her own songs to get her mind off the sounds, but it didn't help all that much.

As she was walking down one of the hallways of the castle, she began to smell blood coming from the throne room. Due to her curiosity, she stopped in her tracks before deciding to walk towards the room. The more closer she got, the violent the smell got. She managed to get close to the door, but the smell was now unbearable. That is when she noticed some dried up blood staining the doors.

Covering her nose and bracing herself, Sky gently opened the doors.

"Hello? Is an-"

Sky stopped mid-sentence, dropped her lantern and covered her mouth to prevent screaming due to the horrifying sight she has seen.

There, right in front of her…were the dead bodies of Boyfriend and Girlfriend. The couple were hung by strings and their chests were torn open, along with other horrific injuries. The sight was so horrible that it almost made Sky vomit. She also noticed that Pico was in between them, looking utterly horrified and distraught at the sight of his friends. He had his back turned to her, so he didn't notice her walking in.

"What the hell? WHAT THE HELL?" Sky thought to herself before walking into the room. "P-Pico? What happened here?"

Pico snapped out of his distressed state as he heard Sky's calming voice. He looked behind him and saw the former fangirl standing right before him. Surprised to see her here of all places, he slowly stood up and walked over to her.

"Sky? What are you doing here?" Pico asked.

"Um, I can ask you the same thing." Sky replied. "Also, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO OUR FRIENDS?!"

"Look, it doesn't matter. You shouldn't be here. You need to leave, or else, he'll kill you too!" Pico warned.

"Who will? Pico, who are you talking abo-"

Just then, Pico grabbed Sky's shoulders and pulled her towards him. Sky could see the hint of fear in Pico's eyes. For the time she knew him, Pico has NEVER shown this side of him before, so there must have been something about this world that got him rattled.

"JUST GET OUT OF HERE BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!" Pico yelled.

"Well well well. Who do we have here?" A sinister voice said.

The voice made Sky's heart skip a beat. She slowly turned her head and looked behind her, only to see a pair of red glowing eyes in a dark corner, catching Sky and Pico off guard. Pico released his grip on Sky and started to back up slowly.

"Oh god!" Pico muttered under his breath.

"Oh? A new victim has entered my realm… Interesting."

"What the hell? Who are you?" Sky exclaimed as she jumped back.

"Oh? I thought you'd recognize me." the figure said with a grin. "Allow me to introduce myself…"

The figure emerged from the darkness and revealed himself to be none other than Mario, but something was different about him. He had sharp bloody teeth and was holding a jagged meat cleaver, and he had an evil grin on his face.

"Its a me, Mario… almost."

Sky looked at Mario in shock, but then, Sky made some kind of connection. For a while now, she noticed something about this world. The brick ground, the weird trees outside, and the destroyed castle itself. They all looked familiar to her, but she didn't know why at first. Now, she knew.

She was in Super Mario's world, but at the same time, this wasn't Mario's world, or at least, the one she was familiar with.

"M-Mario?" Sky stuttered in fear.

"Oh? You DO recognize me? I'm honestly not surprised. Although, I mostly go by "M" or "Horror Mario" now…" M said.

"Oh. Well M, what happened to you?" Sky asked, still freaked out.

"Its… complicated, but its because of what that traitor of an old man that girl calls a father did to me all those years ago…" M replied.

"Oh… So Daddy Dearest did something to you too, huh?" Sky asked. "Honestly, when has that guy NOT fucked up somebody's life?"

"Yes. That traitor broke our deal a long time ago, and now, he'll pay. Well, step one is already done since I killed his daughter." M said, letting out an evil laugh.

Sky suddenly changed the subject as she looked over at the dead bodies of her friends.

"So…You killed them." Sky muttered, a look of sorrow and hatred on her face. "Why? What did they have to do with anything?"

"Those two? Oh yeah. The girl had it coming… Consider it as revenge for what Dearest did to me. As for the blue haired one, he broke a deal that I made with him! I promised to let him and the girl go if we did three songs, but he ran after the second one. So, he kind of dug his own grave for that one." M explained.

"He probably ran because he knew you would kill them anyway!" Sky snapped back. "Every rival he faced in our world almost never kept their end of deals and tried to kill him. What would make him think you were ANY different than an-?"

M suddenly pulled back and threw the meat cleaver at Sky's head. Luckily, she moved out of the way in time and the cleaver missed her, planting itself in the wall. However, Sky lost her balance and fell to the floor. M walked over to her and kneeled in front of her, towering over her.

"Of COURSE I was going to kill them! He and his Girlfriend's fates were sealed the moment they laid eyes on the bloody cartridge. They are my playthings now. NOTHING would've change that!" M exclaimed, his voice sounding more demonic than before. "They belong to ME now! Get used to it!"

Sky had no words to describe the amount of fear, horror and sorrow she was currently feeling. There was so much for her to take in, but she knew deep down that she didn't have time for that, at least not now. She wanted to know what she was doing here and why was she pulled in unexpectedly. So, taking a deep breath, she looks up at the demon Mario with a brave expression and asked her question.

"What am I doing here?" Sky asked. "Why did you drag me in here?"

"You ask a LOT of questions, do you?" M said with a sigh. "Well, don't worry. All your questions will be answered... if you survive this!"

With that said, M looked over at the bodies of the couple and snapped his fingers. Sky looked at him for a moment, confused on what he just did as she stood up, but then, she looked over to where Boyfriend and Girlfriend's dead bodies were. A mysterious red aura began to surround Girlfriend's body and it stayed like that for a few seconds until the aura faded. Sky and Pico looked over to where the bodies were, only to see that the area was suddenly pitch black for some reason, with the exception of red glowing eyes appearing. Sky and Pico sighed in relief, thinking that Girlfriend was just brought back to life and was unharmed, but when she emerged from the darkness, the relief on Sky and Pico's faces quickly faded with looks of disgust, shock and horror replacing it.

Girlfriend did NOT look okay. Her skin was now pale and she had puppet strings attached to her. Her eyes weren't visible cause they were shaded out, she had a gaping smile and was wearing a golden crown with purple gems on her head. She was in her demon form, with wings and all, but it seemed like she was now stuck in it permanently. The most disturbing thing about her appearance was that her abdomen was split open and her organs were still spilling out. Sky nearly threw up upon seeing her. She NEVER wanted to see Girlfriend like this. Sure, at one point, Sky previously hated her and wanted to kill her so she can be with Boyfriend, but she never had the thought to go as far as M did.

"G-Girlfriend?" Pico muttered before looking back at M. "M, what did you DO to her?

"Oh… nothing much. I just reanimated her as my puppet. I call her "GX" now…" M told her.

"You BASTARD!!!" Sky exclaimed, tears slowing streaming down her face. "Its one thing to kill her, but to bring her back AS A SERVANT? Oh, when the Dearests find out about this, you're fucking dead!"

"Oh yes! Tell Dearest about it! I'd be more than happy to show him what I did to his dear daughter!" M responded before letting out an evil, sadistic laughter.

After that, Sky was looking at the now reanimated corpse of Girlfriend, completely speechless. GX didn't respond and just stood in silence, grinning at her. Sky was breathing heavily, her hands were shaking and her heart was beating fast. She was scared. This was the first time in her life that she was ACTUALLY scared of Girlfriend. This was no longer the nice, carefree Girlfriend that she knew anymore. She now looked like something out of a horror movie.

"Anyway, enough talk! Its time for you... to die, stupid fangirl! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! GX, get her!" M commanded.

Then, as on cue, the strings attached to GX began to move as she was lifted into the air and forced forward, landing in front of Sky. Sky stumbled and fell to the floor again, but this time, she felt paralyzed in fear. She couldn't move. GX revealed her sharp nails and started to slowly move towards her. Sky closed her eyes and braced herself for whatever GX was going to do to her, when suddenly, she heard Pico scream. Sky slowly opened her eyes, only to see Pico wrapping his arms around GX's waist, holding her back.

"Pico..." Sky began.

"Sky, run!" Pico exclaimed. "Find a way out of this place! Save yourself!"

"What? Pico, I'm not leaving you here!" Sky said as she stood up.

Then, GX was lifted into the air by her strings, almost causing Pico to let go, but he kept holding on as she was bounced up and down in an attempt to knock Pico off.

"GO! NOW!!!" Pico exclaimed.

Upon hearing Pico's plead, Sky quickly stood up, spun on her heel, grabbed her dropped lantern and began running towards the throne room doors.

"NO! You won't get away!" M exclaimed.

M grabbed his meat cleaver from the wall and threw it at Sky.

"SKY! LOOK OUT!" Pico shouted.

Upon hearing this, Sky turned around, only to see the cleaver flying towards her. She was able to dodge it in time and watch as the cleaver hit the throne room doors, forcefully opening them. Sky let out a sigh of relief as she ran out of the room and into one of the hallways.

"NO! GX, stop her!" M commanded.

On command, and after a bit of struggling, GX forcefully pushed Pico off of her and began pursuing Sky, who was now on the run. Pico tried to follow, but he was suddenly grabbed by M.

"Not so fast, ginger. I got something special planned for you…" M said with a grin.

Pico let out a scream as M dragged him out of the throne room and into the dark hallways.

Meanwhile…

After going through hallways after hallways, Sky had made it out of the castle. However, she couldn't stop yet because she knew that GX wouldn't be too far behind, and since this was M's world, they would have the knowledge of ALL the areas within it, so hiding would almost be impossible.

Once she was FAR enough away from the castle, Sky stopped at a tilted goal post to catch her breath. She looked behind her for a moment and didn't see anyone outside. Once she was in the clear, she sat down and slammed her fist into a wall out of frustration.

"Why is this happening? What is this world? This is not the world of Super Mario Bros in any way. The red sky, the creepy looking Mario, and him turning his victims into his servants!" Sky thought to herself.

Suddenly, Sky snapped out of her thoughts when she began to hear something in the distance. She looked around the area she was in and saw nothing out of place, but then, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a figure gliding towards her at an alarming speed.

"Oh god! Where do I go?" Sky said to herself, looking around for a hiding spot.

As she was looking, Sky noticed that the goal post she stopped at was right next to an old, abandoned fortress. She recognized it as one of those small fortresses that you find at the end of each stage in many Super Mario Bros games. She didn't know why this one looked broken down and abandoned, but she didn't care. Wasting no time, she quickly ran inside, sat down, blew out the lantern and waited. She stayed quiet and heard footsteps outside, assuming that those footsteps belonged to whatever was gliding towards her. As they got closer, she peeked outside one of the windows to take a look.

She watched as the figure landed next to the goal post and began looking around the area. However, the figure wasn't GX at all. It looked like an undead Koopa, more than anything.

"What the hell is that thing?" Sky thought to herself as she looked at the figure.

The figure in question was a sepia-colored Parabones with dark red shoes, tan gloves, tan bat-like wings and cracks in his skull. He also had red eyes and black irises.

The undead Parabones looked around for a bit, even listening for any signs of movement, but then, GX lowered to the ground next to him. Upon seeing this, Sky ducked out of sight to avoid being seen by her.

"John Dick, have you found Sky yet?" GX asked.

The Parabones, whose name was John Dick, shook his head. GX groaned and stamped her foot in annoyance.

"Dammit! She couldn't have gone far!" GX exclaimed before letting out a sigh. "Well, we need to keep looking. Master is already taking care of Pico…"

"Please go away... Please go away... Please go away." Sky silently thought to herself.

Sky sat silently in the fortress and waited for GX and John to go away. She heard the footsteps once again, but after 4 minutes, the footsteps were gone. It was now completely silent. Sky let out a sigh of relief as she relight her lantern and was prepared to leave her hiding spot, but then, she got jumpscared by GX when she suddenly landed in front of Sky.

"FOUND YOU!!!" GX exclaimed.

GX sliced at Sky, but Sky ducked past her and started to run again, not even bothering to look back. Sky thought she got away with it, but then, she could hear the clicking sounds of its footsteps. She turned around, only to see GX running towards her.

"WHAT THE HELL?!?" Sky exclaimed.

She kept running and running, with GX getting closer and closer, the sound of her heels clicking on the brick ground. As Sky was running, she felt something grab her arms from behind and lift her off the ground.

"What the?" Sky exclaimed.

She looked up at what grabbed her, only for her to see John Dick. The undead Parabones had just grabbed her and lifted her off the ground. After catching her, John changed direction and flew back towards GX. Sky was now in the grasp of the undead Parabones as GX was hovering in front of her menacingly.

"Nice work, John Dick. Master will be pleased…" GX said, praising the Parabones. "Report back to Master. Tell him we got her…"

John nodded as he released Sky and flew away to notify M about the successful catch. Meanwhile, GX was towering over Sky, who was now back on the ground. Sky tried to back away, but before she can, GX grabbed her by the neck and pulled her close to her.

"Now… You put up quite a fight, Sky, but did you REALLY think you could escape M's world?" GX asked, tightening her grip on Sky's neck. "If so, then you thought wrong…"

"Agh... Girlfriend... Please... d-don't do this..." Sky tried to say through her choking. "You're stronger than this. Don't let M… do this to you…"

Sky looked into GX's eyes and saw anger and hatred within them. GX's grip on Sky's throat began to get more and more violent, literally to the point where GX's sharp nails began digging into Sky's skin.

Sky tried to punch, kick, and scream, but nothing good came out of that as GX's grip got more violent.

"Y-Y-Y-You're going to kill me! Stop!" Sky shouted through her "close to dying" breath.

GX's grip got tighter, and tighter, and tighter, and tighter until she let out a chuckle and released her grip on Sky. Sky let out coughs as she tried to regain her breath.

"As much as I want to kill you, I won't. Master has "OTHER" plans for you…" GX said with a sadistic smile.

Then, before Sky can say anything else, GX grabs her and jams a tranquilizer dart into her neck, causing her to pass out. The last thing she heard before falling into a deep sleep…was the evil, sadistic laughter of M.

To be continued…
