It's time for me to write night 2! Honestly writing night 1 was harder than I had expected it to be; although on the one hand, writing something based on a storyline that already exists is easy because it's something that I already know and, on the surface, that means less work for me, on the other hand, it's hard because it becomes almost scripted, and nobody wants to read a script, right? So to make it interesting, I have to re-read every paragraph and add what I think it needs. But don't worry- I won't give up on this project until I've determined that I'm finished- and I'm nowhere near done yet!
This time, Russia plays the role of the night guard! I have my doubts that it'll be as fun as America, but we'll see! Maybe the magic metal pipe of pain will play a role? Like he'll do what you can't do in the actual games- physically defend himself against the animatronics? Not like putting on the mask in the second game or closing the doors in the first and fourth games or playing the child voice in the third game- like actually physically attacking the animatronics. Idk, we'll see!
Working on getting a job that pays better than my current one, but as of now, I can't afford to buy Hetalia/FNAF. All rights belong to Himaruya-Sama and Scott Cawthon. See the previous chapter for the citation. If I use anything else, I will cite it at the end of this chapter. Alright, please enjoy!
Night 2- Russia
12 am. Ivan heard enough from America to know that he was not looking forward to this. He had literally just started, and he had 6 more hours to go! How would he survive?
The phone rang. Alfred had told him that this would happen. Expecting a somewhat unsettling message, Ivan answered, trying to mentally prepare himself for what he might hear.
The message was, somehow, less unsettling than anticipated. Alfred had told him that, when it was his turn to work, something about potential death due to animatronics stuffing you into a suit was brought up. The only thing remotely close that Ivan heard was that you wouldn't be in any danger if you didn't react quickly enough to an animatronic being outside of a door, although it didn't seem like that could really be taken at face value. Oh, well; it's not like Ivan wasn't used to dark times. Maybe this wouldn't be as scary as Alfred had chalked it up to be?
Alfred had taught Ivan how to check cameras, so he did that. Although the voice on the phone (Alfred had dubbed him "phone guy") had told him to check the cameras during his speech, Ivan has never really been much of a multitasker, so he didn't do that. When he checked the stage, he saw three huge animals just standing there, which he concluded to mean that they weren't going to cause problems. However, when he checked Pirate Cove, he saw that a pirate fox had its head out.
Although Ivan knew that the animals on the stage were fully capable of moving on their own and likely would that night, if he didn't see it happen, he wasn't going to worry about it. Worrying about something is putting yourself through it twice. As he would find out later, that's the last thing one needs in this line of work.
Ivan checked his battery level- 87%. He then checked the time- 1 am. Not too bad, but probably should still keep an eye on things. However, he did want to save his battery, so he set a timer on his phone to go off in half an hour, since nobody seemed to be moving all that quickly. As satisfied with his choice as he could be, he watched everything fade into nothingness.
1:30 am- his phone went off. Ivan groaned and opened his eyes, only to find that his head was on the desk. He started panicking. Had he fallen asleep? This wasn't good; from what America had told him, it seemed like this job could kill you if you slacked off!
Well… was there really anything Ivan could do but check? First thing he checked was the battery; 85. Pretty good, but not much change was to be expected, given that he wasn't looking at the cameras, plus the doors were open! Speaking of which… probably best to first check those doors to see if anyone's there. Was there a way he was supposed to know besides constant checking? Like should he be able to hear something? Neither Phone Guy nor Alfred had told him anything, so he assumed the null hypothesis.
Door light went on and sure enough, that bunny was there. Door closes immediately. Check the other door… nobody there. Door stays open to save battery. Check cameras… chicken is nowhere to be found. Not good.
This is scary… until Ivan remembers that the video in the kitchen is disabled, but there is audio. He checked it again, but made the frightful discovery that there was no audio! What could that mean in terms of the chicken's location? If he was lucky, the audio simply wasn't working (would he be responsible for fixing it? Not that he would, since he was quitting the next morning), but if he was unlucky…
Scarily enough, after Ivan took his eyes off the camera, the chicken was RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM! It looked like it was ready to kill. Well, he thought, it's for moments like these that I always have my trusty Magic Metal Pipe of Pain with me! But will that work? I mean, I've only ever used it on people (nation and normal), never on robots! But right now, that's my only defense…
Realizing this was his only chance for survival, Ivan took his magic metal pipe of pain out of his coat pocket and hit it on the chicken's head. Although that didn't kill it, it did knock it out. He checked the time- 2 am. 4 more hours to go, so that meant there was a "dead" (he was convinced that those animatronics were actually living things despite evidence pointing otherwise) chicken for him to deal with. So he managed to pick it up (kinda hard given that it was made of metal!) and dragged it to the space outside his door. He figured that, since Phone Guy implied that Freddy (who he guessed was the bear, given that the restaurant is called "Freddy FazBEAR's Pizza") wouldn't move, the fox was likely only going to move if he never checked the camera in Pirate Cove, and the bunny so far hadn't used that entrance, it would probably be safe to leave the chicken there. Who knows, maybe the chicken wouldn't bother him for the rest of the night- or anyone ever again? If he didn't get fired (the chicken was the property of the restaurant, and property destruction is a good reason for termination), he was still going to quit after tonight, so it wasn't like that would matter anyway.
Alright… time to check the battery. 68. Wow, wonder what drained it so much? Oh wait… that other door is closed! But is it safe to open it? Better check it, da?
Before Ivan could check that door, however, he heard four knocks. What could those have been? Whatever they were, they appeared to drain his battery (he was now at 60!), so unless it wasn't safe to do so, he would need to open that door. Ivan checked the door- nobody there. Assuming that it was safe, he opened that door. Why there wasn't a way to charge the battery, nobody would ever know.
Well… Ivan checked the camera, and it turns out the fox had moved back into Pirate Cove, behind the curtain. That's fine; he preferred not to have to deal with it. The bunny was in the closet, so Ivan concluded that it was safe to open the door, which he did. Battery- 60. Time- 3 am. Not the best, but not the worst. Could he survive? That depended on his next actions!
Ivan had to make a choice- he could either continue checking, which had the advantages of making time pass quickly and keeping him safe from animatronics, but had the disadvantage of draining battery, or he could take another half-hour nap, which had the advantage of conserving battery but had the disadvantages of putting him at risk of death and making time drag on. The choice was up to him- which one would he choose? Well, if you simply compare the pros and cons, plus which pros and cons are most important to him, the Russian decided that his life was too important for him to risk, and constantly checking had the added perk of making time pass more quickly. That always happens when you're actually doing something, even if you're not having fun, right? Although Ivan was quite tired, he decided to choose that, as he knew that he'd be able to go home and sleep pretty soon.
Luckily, constantly checking cameras did make the time pass pretty quickly- by the time Ivan had finished his first round (and nobody had moved), it was already 4! He checked the battery- 56. Take a 15-minute break, and check again. Ivan did check again, and at 4:15, still nobody had moved. Was the coast clear? He didn't want to let his guard down, but by being too vigilant, he ran the risk of jinxing himself, so he decided to check every 15 minutes and pray that there would be no problems during the breaks.
At 5 am, Ivan's battery was at 20, but nobody had moved. Although it probably would have been safer to do otherwise, he decided to just sit and do nothing in order to conserve battery. He strangely wasn't tired, so he decided to sit rather than sleep in order to remain vigilant. But what could he do to pass the time? Well, his phone battery level was at 70- why not play a few rounds of Tetris? But with the volume off- he had no idea whether or not the animatronics could hear, would be kinda strange if they could, but he was paranoid!
Turns out, Tetris did the trick! Before Ivan knew it, he heard a bell. Ivan checked the time- 6 am, which meant that he could finally leave!
As soon as he exited the building (leaving the chicken at the entrance of the door; it wasn't like he really cared about keeping his job), Ivan saw his friend Yao. He wondered if it was a similar situation to the previous day, when he was scheduled to work the day after Alfred without Alfred knowing.
«Привет, Yao!" he said. "Are you working as the night guard tomorrow? I'm emailing the boss to tell him I'm quitting as soon as I get home."
"Yes, I start at midnight, aru! I'm just going in to do some onboarding stuff. Anything you'd like me to know, aru?"
"Uh… well I don't want to make you quit already, but I did not have a good experience. The animatronics are terrifying and probably life-threatening, but I suppose you could get used to it since you like horror movies and stuff, да?»
"Aiyah, what did I sign myself up for?! Well, ok, I guess I'll try just to see if I'll survive tonight, aru?"
With that, Ivan decided to let Yao do his thing and left. He prayed that his friend would survive, but had a feeling that, with his martial arts training, he would probably be ok? Although those animatronics are made of metal, and Yao doesn't carry a magic metal pipe of pain, just his bare hands and feet… whatever, not Ivan's problem anymore. Although he did feel somewhat traumatized after the experience, he decided that he would be able to relax after drinking more vodka than he probably should.
Aaand this chapter is over! Wonder how China will do as the night guard… guess we'll see! And yes, I headcanon China as being trained in martial arts. This WILL play a role in the next chapter!
Also, as promised, Russia's Magic Metal Pipe of Pain did play a role in this chapter! Not sure how much damage that would realistically do- I mean, the pipe and Chica are both made of metal, да?- but I'm not ready to kill anyone off just yet. Don't worry, I'm not 100% opposed to the idea- now just isn't the time. The time may or may not come while writing this story. We'll have to see about that.
See the previous chapter for citations- nothing changed with that!
