Hey everybody.
I wrote this story so long ago, that I completely forgot about it. It was way back when I first started as a writer so it's embarrassing to look at now. Lol.
So, I thought that I would try a re-write and make it better with a new updated version. I'll be changing a few things around and giving different characters different names, but I won't tweak it too much. After all this was one of the first stories I ever made.
So, without further ado, let's get this show on the road. Remember to leave me some reviews if you can.
Sarabi had always been a strong lioness. She really had to be she was still the queen of the pride lands. Even though she had suffered so much loss in her life, she had still pushed on and remained brave not only for herself, but for the sake of the all the other lioness. She was still their leader and they looked to her for guidance and strength. Scar's reign had nearly broken them, physically and emotionally. But despite the suffering and pain Sarabi had still found reasons to tell her pride to smile and keep going. She still held her head up high to show everyone just how resilient and courageous the queen truly was. She refused to let herself slip away into the pits of despair and heartbreak.
She didn't even bat an eye among hundreds of hyenas when the tyrant king hollered her name, summoning her to his side.
"Yes Scar? You called me".
"Where is your hunting party?! They have not been doing their job lately".
"Scar, I'm afraid that there is no food. All the herds have moved on".
"No! You just haven't been looking hard enough!".
Sarabi gave a tired sigh "It is over Scar. There is simply nothing left for us. We have only one choice at this point, we must leave Pride Rock."
"Scar turned snapped his head back in fury "We are not going anywhere!"
Sarabi was shocked "Are you crazy?! You have sentenced us all to death!".
"I do not care. I am the king; I can do whatever I want".
"Scar be reasonable. If we stay here, we will all die, there is nothing left for us whatsoever".
The so-called king merely scoffed "We will not go anywhere. We will stay here until the end of time". Sarabi was now angry, how dare he bring upon this death wish to them. "If only you were half the king Mufasa was then we wouldn't be in this hell!".
Outraged by her words Scar raised his paw and smacked her hard across the face, the force sent her tumbling to the ground, leaving Sarabi temporarily unconscious "I'm ten times the king that Mufasa ever was!" he spat.
At that moment a deep growl was heard from above, and Scar was in disbelief to see a fully grown young lion with a golden pelt and a blood red mane. "M-Mufasa?! No that's impossible, you're supposed to be dead".
The lion jumped down from the rocks and made his way over to Sarabi with concern in his eyes. He nudged her gently before sending a glare to the tyrant king. Sarabi stirred still feeling a bit dizzy and she looked up seeing a face that looked so familiar to her. "Mufasa? Is that you?" the lion shook his head "No. It's me".
Sarabi felt like she was dreaming. This wasn't her departed mate; it was her beloved son. "S-Simba? You are alive? How can that be?"
A soft look fell on him "It doesn't matter. I'm home now mother". He bent down to nuzzle her and for the first time, Sarabi felt more hopeful than she had in years.
Scar was still taken back but he quickly regained his composure "Simba? Well, this is quite a surprise. I did not expect to see you…alive" he cast a glance to the hyena trio above and they swallowed hard scurrying off.
Simba was glaring hard at his uncle "Give me one good reason right now, why I shouldn't rip you apart". He said as he moved closer forcing Scar to move back "Oh, Simba you must understand now the pressures that come with ruling a kingdom-", "Are you longer yours now. Step down Scar". His voice was low and cool, a sign that he was serious.
Scar chuckled nervously "Oh believe me I would, naturally of course. However, there is one small problem" he pointed upwards to the army of hyenas looking down at them "Do you see them? The thing is, they think that I'm king".
"Well, we don't!" both lion turned their heads to see Nala who had rallied up the lioness, "Simba is our rightful king".
Simba turned his attention back to his uncle "I'm giving you a simple choice Scar, either you step down or you fight".
Scar tsked as his words "Oh, my. Must everything always end in such violence? I would simply hate to be responsible for the death of a precious family member. Wouldn't you agree Simba?"
"That isn't going to work Scar. I've put it behind me".
A sly smile "Yes, yes. But what about your faithful subjects" he gestured to the lionesses "Have they put it behind them?".
Nala looked bewildered "Simba what on earth is he talking about?"
Scar's smile turned into a smirk "Ah, so you haven't told them your little secret yet. Well then Simba, this is your chance to tell them all. Tell them who is responsible for Mufasa's death?".
All eyes were on him now, Simba hesitated for a moment "I am. It was me". Everyone was looking at him with wide eyes of shock and disbelief. There was simply no way, right? It couldn't be the case.
Sarabi couldn't believe what she had just heard as she approached her son "It's not true". Her voice was wavering, she was on the edge of tears "Please tell me it's not true". Simba couldn't look his mother in the eye with his shame "Yes. It's true".
"You all see that. He admitted it! He's a murderer!".
Simba tried to defend himself "No! It was an accident I swear!". Scar didn't hesitate to fan the flames of fear "If it weren't for you then Mufasa would still be very much alive. But it's your fault that he's dead. Do you deny it?".
Simba shook his head "No I don't".
"Then that proves that you are guilty". Simba didn't know what to say, "No. I'm not a murderer". Scar now had the upper hand and with his army of hyenas behind him, he had Simba intimidated and cornered, forcing him to fall back unaware that he was getting closer to the very edge of Pride Rock.
"Oh Simba. You are in trouble again. But this time Daddy isn't here to save you. Now everyone knows the reason why!".
"Ahh!" Simba yelped as he felt his back legs go over the edge. He didn't even hear Nala's cry as a massive lighting strike hit the ground below him igniting a huge fire from the tinder dry earth. He was clinging on for his life now, he would fall to his death if he didn't.
"Now this looks very familiar. Hmm, where have I seen this before". Simba was still holding on for his life. Scar's face lit up "Ah! Yes, I remember everything. This is exactly the way that your father looked before he died". Simba felt his grip loosening, Scar dug his claws into his forearms and leaned down fully intending to throw him over like he had done to Mufasa all those years ago. "And here is my little secret" he moved towards his ear "I killed Mufasa". Sudden flashbacks of that tragic day flooded Simba's memory and a deep, seething anger had risen and took a hold of him. It gave him the strength to pull himself back up and he pinned Scar down "Murderer!" he screamed "My father, your own brother. How could you do that?!"
"No Simba please". The lion didn't budge "Tell them the truth! Or I will do it for you". Simba pressed his paw against Scar's throat making him gag "Alright. Alright. I did it".
"Louder, so they can hear you".
"I'm the one who killed Mufasa!". Everyone heard him clear as day and that was all that was needed. Nala was the first to charge, Simba didn't have time to react as his was suddenly thrown down by hyenas but with help from the pride Simba was able to escape and made a dash for Scar who had been trying to slip away from the chaos. He chased him up to the very top of Pride Rock and Scar couldn't run any further, there was a huge drop in front of him and with Simba blocking the only exit. He knew that he was trapped. There was nothing but pure hatred in his eyes "Murderer" he spat.
Scar couldn't think of anything else but to beg "Simba, please. Do have mercy". Simba moved closer "Mercy? After what you did. You don't even deserve to live". His voice was cold as ice.
As Simba steadily came closer Scar began to panic, quickly tried to make up an excuse "But Simba. I am family. It's the hyenas that are the real enemy, those horrible, filthy scavengers made me to do it. It was all their idea, it's completely their fault". He had been unaware that Shenzi, Banzai and Ed had been behind Simba and had heard every word growling lowly as they left in betrayal.
"Why should I even believe you?! Everything you ever told me was nothing more than a damn lie".
Scar's voice quivered slightly "What are you going to do? Surely you wouldn't kill your only uncle".
Simba didn't move an inch "No Scar. I'm not like you and I never will be".
Scar saw an opportunity "Oh Simba, you are very noble indeed. Please tell me how I can make myself up to you. Tell me what you want me to do, I'll do anything".
"Run. Run away Scar. Run away and never return". He had used the same words that he had spoken to him years ago.
At first Scar looked like he would comply, but all of a sudden Simba had burning embers thrown in his face blinding him for the briefest moment but that was all Scar needed to make his move and tackle him to the ground. Despite his physical disadvantage Scar was gaining the upper ground on Simba. But younger and more muscular Simba quickly gained control. The two lions rolled around in battle, blood splattered, and blows were exchanged taking their toll. Scar managed to knock Simba down and he jumped preparing to end his life by tear his throat out. Thinking fast Simba used all his strength on his back legs to push Scar away from him and sent him over the ledge. Quickly getting to his feet Simba looked down below and witnessed what could only be described as gruesome.
As Scar opened his eyes from his fall, he saw Shenzi, Banzai and Ed approaching him. Scar breathed a sigh in relief as he stood up "Ah my friends".
"Friends? I thought I said that we were the enemy" Banzai nodded "Yes, that's exactly what I heard". Scar's eyes widened in horror as he realized his mistake, but it was too late. "Ed?" He began to laugh manically and licked his lips in anticipating, as more hyenas appeared. Their woops of sinister laughter would be the last thing that Scar would ever hear.
"N-No! Let me explain-No! You don't understand-I didn't mean-" his stammering would fall on deaf ears as the hyenas cornered him against the rock wall and the last image Scar would ever see was an army of starving hyenas devouring him alive as the flames from the fire grew larger. At long last, the evil reign of the hateful, tyrant king was no more.
As Simba walked down Pride Rock to meet his pride, rain began to pour from the sky extinguishing the fire. It was almost like Mufasa was crying from above, now that everything that was evil had been destroyed. When he reached the bottom, he was battered and bruised but his face held a look of triumph. Everyone had fought so bravely there was a rave of relief and hope in everyone. Simba nuzzled his mother before he nuzzled Nala, glad to see that she was alright. The moment was cut short when he heard Rafiki shake his staff and point to the ledge of Pride Rock. Simba then made his way, over stopping briefly to give the old monkey a hug in gratitude. It was time to take his place as the rightful king of the Pride Lands.
As Simba ascended all eyes were on him. It was a magnificent sight to behold. The second that Simba made his way up to crown the throne, Mufasa looked down from the heaves above to give his son one final reminder to remember everything he was. With the reassurance of his father Simba then gave a mighty roar for everyone to hear. The lionesses roared back in loyalty to their new king. From across the Pride Lands the booming sounds of the crowning of the new king traveled far and wide.
But not everyone was so thrilled that Scar was now gone. Far off in the distance a lion's ears picked up the sound and his head turned in the direction of Pride Rock, from the grass a young lioness named Jasi appeared out of breath and looking frightened. "What is it Jasi? What's happened?".
"M-My Lord. It is Scar, he is dead now. His nephew Simba is now the king of these lands".
"What?! How?! Who killed him?"
"I c-couldn't s-see it all. B-but it looks as t-though S-Simba had something to d-do with it".
A low growl was heard "Jasi you are to go back to Pride Rock and observe, report back to me every detail of what you know later". She bowed "Y-yes, my Lord".
Once alone the lion began to pace. Scar was dead now; Simba was the king. In the blink of an eye everything had changed. He looked back to Pride Rock and the sounds of Simba's roars were sickening to his ears. He growled again in fury "This is not over; this is only the beginning".
And we'll stop here.
Looking back on my old work while I was writing this made me realize what a creative imagination I had back in the day. Lol.
I'll have the next chapter up real soon, I hope you enjoyed.
