The next morning, Erin was woken up by a familiar, uncomfortable sensation. She groaned softly, realizing that her period had started. She carefully got out of bed, trying not to wake Jay, who was still resting peacefully.
Erin made her way to the bathroom, taking care of herself and grabbing some pain relief for the cramps that were already starting to set in. She sighed, knowing it was going to be one of those days.
After getting dressed, she headed downstairs to start the day. The house was quiet, with everyone still asleep. Erin took a moment to enjoy the peace, making herself a cup of tea and sitting down at the kitchen table.
A little while later, Jay came downstairs, looking much better than the previous day. He still had a hand on his jaw, but the pain seemed to be more manageable. "Morning, Erin," he said, his voice still a bit groggy.
Erin smiled up at him. "Morning, Jay. How are you feeling?" she asked, her concern evident.
Jay nodded, sitting down beside her. "Better, thanks to you," he replied, giving her a grateful smile. "How about you? You look a bit tired."
Erin sighed, taking a sip of her tea. "My period started this morning. Just feeling a bit off," she admitted.
Jay reached out and took her hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. "I'm sorry, Erin. Is there anything I can do to help?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.
Erin shook her head, appreciating his offer. "Just having you here helps," she said, leaning in to give him a quick kiss.
As they sat together, Chantelle and Will came downstairs, ready to start their day. Chantelle ran over to her parents, her face lighting up when she saw Jay. "Daddy, are you feeling better?" she asked, her voice filled with hope.
Jay smiled and nodded. "Yes, sweetie. I'm feeling much better," he said, pulling her into a hug.
Will joined them at the table, giving Erin a knowing look. "Rough morning?" he asked gently.
Erin nodded, managing a small smile. "Just one of those days," she replied.
Erin was feeling the full effects of her period. The cramps were intense, and she found herself practically crawling out of the bedroom, trying to make it to the bathroom. Her face was pale, and she was clearly in a lot of pain.
Jay, who was downstairs with Chantelle and Will, heard her and immediately ran upstairs. He found Erin on the floor, struggling to move. "Erin!" he exclaimed, rushing to her side. "Let me help you."
As he gently tried to lift her, Erin screamed in pain, her body tensing up. "No, Jay, it hurts too much," she cried, tears streaming down her face.
Jay's heart broke seeing her like this. "Okay, okay, just breathe," he said softly, trying to soothe her. "We'll take it slow."
Chantelle and Will, hearing the commotion, came to the bottom of the stairs. Chantelle's eyes were wide with worry. "Mommy, what's wrong?" she asked, her voice trembling.
Will gently held Chantelle back, giving Erin and Jay some space. "Mommy's just not feeling well, Chantelle. Daddy's helping her," he explained, trying to keep her calm.
Erin took a few deep breaths, trying to manage the pain. "Jay, I just need to get to the bathroom," she said, her voice strained.
Jay nodded, carefully supporting her as they moved slowly towards the bathroom. "I've got you, Erin. Just lean on me," he said, his voice filled with determination.
With Jay's help, Erin finally made it to the bathroom. She leaned against the sink, trying to steady herself. "Thank you, Jay," she whispered, her voice filled with gratitude.
Jay kissed her forehead gently. "Anything for you," he replied, his eyes filled with concern.
Back downstairs, Will kept Chantelle occupied, reassuring her that everything would be okay. "Mommy's strong, Chantelle. She'll be alright," he said, giving her a comforting hug.
The family rallied together, supporting Erin through her difficult morning.
As lunchtime approached, Jay decided to check on Erin, who had gone back to bed to rest. He quietly opened the bedroom door and was immediately alarmed by what he saw. Erin was passed out on the bed, her face pale and her breathing shallow. Blood had stained her leggings, and there were pads and tampons scattered around her.
Panic surged through Jay as he rushed to her side. "Erin! Erin, wake up!" he called, gently shaking her shoulder, but she didn't respond.
Without wasting another second, Jay carefully picked her up, cradling her in his arms. He ran downstairs, his heart pounding with fear. "Will! Chantelle! We need to go to the hospital, now!" he shouted, his voice filled with urgency.
Will, who was in the kitchen with Chantelle, immediately sprang into action. "I'll get the car ready," he said, grabbing the keys and heading out the door.
Chantelle, seeing her mother in such a state, started to cry. "Mommy, what's wrong with Mommy?" she asked, her voice trembling with fear.
Jay tried to stay calm for Chantelle's sake. "Mommy's not feeling well, sweetie. We're going to take her to the hospital so the doctors can help her," he explained, his voice steady but filled with worry.
With Will's help, they quickly got Erin into the car. Jay sat in the backseat with her, holding her hand and whispering words of comfort, while Will drove as fast as he safely could to the nearest hospital.
"Hang in there, Erin. We're almost there," Jay murmured, his heart aching with fear and concern.
Chantelle, sitting in the front seat, kept looking back at her parents, her eyes wide with worry. "Daddy, will Mommy be okay?" she asked, her voice small and scared.
Jay forced a reassuring smile. "Yes, Chantelle. The doctors will take good care of Mommy," he said, hoping his words would be true.
They arrived at the hospital, and Jay carried Erin inside, shouting for help. Medical staff quickly took over, rushing Erin into the emergency room.
As they rushed Erin into the emergency room, Natalie quickly took charge. She began ordering the other nurses with tasks and setting up IVs. "We need a saline drip and a blood transfusion ready, stat," she instructed, her voice calm but authoritative.
Natalie then turned to Jay, who was standing nearby, looking pale and worried. "Can you tell me what happened?" she asked, her tone gentle but urgent.
Jay took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "Erin woke up this morning in a lot of pain. She was bleeding heavily and passed out. I found her like that and brought her here as quickly as I could," he explained, his voice shaking slightly.
Natalie nodded, taking in the information. "Thank you, Jay. We're going to take good care of her," she reassured him. She turned back to the medical team, continuing to give instructions. "Let's get her vitals and prepare for an ultrasound to check for any internal issues."
Jay watched as the team worked efficiently, feeling a mix of fear and hope. Chantelle, still holding onto Will, looked up at her uncle with wide eyes. "Uncle Will, is Mommy going to be okay?" she asked, her voice trembling.
Will knelt down beside her, giving her a comforting hug. "The doctors and nurses are doing everything they can to help Mommy. She's in good hands," he said softly, trying to reassure her.
Later that day, after several hours of tests and monitoring, Natalie approached Jay and Will in the waiting area. She had a reassuring smile on her face. "We've completed all the necessary tests, and it looks like Erin is going to be okay. It was just a case of severe stomach cramps and heavy menstrual bleeding," she explained.
Jay let out a sigh of relief, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders. "Thank you so much, Natalie," he said, his voice filled with gratitude.
Natalie nodded. "She's resting now and should be able to go home soon. We'll give her some medication to help manage the pain and the bleeding," she added.
Chantelle, who had been clinging to Will, looked up at her father with hopeful eyes. "Daddy, can we see Mommy now?" she asked softly.
Jay smiled and nodded. "Yes, sweetie. Let's go see Mommy," he said, taking her hand.
They followed Natalie to Erin's room, where she was lying in bed, looking much better but still a bit tired. Jay rushed to her side, taking her hand. "Erin, how are you feeling?" he asked gently.
Erin smiled weakly. "A bit better now. Just tired," she replied, squeezing his hand.
Chantelle climbed up onto the bed, hugging her mother tightly. "I was so worried, Mommy," she said, her voice trembling.
Erin hugged her back, tears of relief in her eyes. "I'm okay, Chantelle. Thank you for being so brave," she said softly.
Will stood by the door, smiling at the touching reunion. "We're all here for you, Erin," he said, his voice filled with warmth.
The family stayed close, grateful that Erin was going to be okay.
