Thank you very much for the reception of my story.
A few things to clarify. Although Sasuke is very skilled, he will be nerfed at the beginning. As seen in the previous chapter, he's too exhausted after the fight against Momoshiki and one thing the anime and manga have made clear is that it takes him a long time to recover all his Chakra, so even if he recovers enough to do Jutsus, don't expect even an armful of Susanoo. I'm partly doing this because the post-Fourth War Sasuke is too powerful for the start of the fic in the MK world.
I don't own Mortal Kombat or Naruto. They belong to Neterhealm studios and Kishimoto respectively.
On that note, here's today's chapter.
Chapter 1: The Moon in a New Kingdom.
Sasuke doesn't know at what moment he changed places. A moment ago, he was talking to the mysterious hatter named Raiden, then, lightning struck him and the next second, he was in front of some stairs that led to a large palace with different floors, with a design similar to the palaces of Konoha, but this one looked older than the ones he knows. The roofs of the palace were covered in snow, frozen. As she turned around and inspected behind, she saw a statue of a man sitting cross-legged where there were braziers in each hand
"Let's go inside. You don't want to keep the Grandmaster waiting too long," Raiden said, addressing Frost primarily.
The Criomancer had his eyes on Sasuke like daggers. The red-haired man was indifferent to the girl's fury for him. If he hurt her pride by defeating her it wasn't his problem. He could even be considered to have helped her. He knows better than anyone what it feels like to have his pride hurt.
At this point, the Last Uchiha had no choice but to follow Raiden down the stairs. The man brought him to this place like it was nothing; also, he could feel the great power he emanated. It wasn't Chakra, neither was it natural energy like Naruto's Senjutsu or Jugo's.
With his Sharingan, he had tried to see that energy inside him, but it didn't do much good; all that energy covered him completely, as if he was made of it. The only person he saw something similar with was Hagoromo, but that's because he was a spirit when it manifested.
The best course of action was to follow Raiden and get as much information as possible on where he was. He already ruled out that he was in Kaguya's ice dimension since he ran into the Lin Kuei clan members… whoever they were.
The large doors of the temple were opened by two ninjas inside, and they bowed in respect to Raiden, who reciprocated the greeting with a nod of his head, being followed by Sasuke and Frost. The latter stopped to give them orders to take the men who accompanied her to the infirmary.
Walking inside, Sasuke made sure to scan the entire place for possible escape routes. The floors and walls were made of wooden planks, though as he went further inside, he noticed parts made of stone. There were sliding doors made of bamboo, where you could see the silhouettes of different individuals who, by the sounds they were making, were training. There were also other doors made of stone.
"What is this place?" asked Sasuke, after noticing the difference in architecture between stone and wood.
"This is the Lin Kuei Temple, which was formerly the Temple of Delia, but after it was abandoned, the founders of the clan took it as their temple when they had to flee to survive. Here, warriors train to become part of the Lin Kuei, a clan of elite warriors. In the past, the Lin Kuei became assassins and mercenaries, but with the reformation of the clan and the guidance of the Grandmaster, it is now a clan that defends the Earth," Raiden explained, also explaining in passing what the Lin Kuei are.
"And who is this Grandmaster? You seem to respect him."
Raiden knew these questions were to gather information, just as he knew he was assessing the place since they entered for escape routes or potential threats. That's why they were purposely slowing down. His guest was too tense, too on guard, as would be expected of a person in an unfamiliar place, but he wants him to feel comfortable and know that he is among friends. No pointless quarrel would do any good and the young man knows it, so he follows him obediently and only asks common questions that a stranger would ask when visiting a place for the first time without knowing it.
"The Grandmaster is the leader of the Lin Kuei, who freed his clan from the corruption of his predecessors. He is also a great ally and one of the Champions of Earth. You will meet him. I feel they have a lot in common."
No sooner had he finished saying that than they reached the end of the hallway. The floor area and walls were entirely rock, except for the large door, which was carved from a fine blue with the clan symbol painted in white.
Those same doors opened and the three individuals entered. They saw stairs carved in stone going up different platforms that rose several feet off the ground. At the top, sitting on a large seat made entirely of ice, was the Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei.
Sasuke observed this man with attention and attention to detail. He had an aura of power and respect equal to Kakashi's, telling him by that alone the skill and experience he should have. He also had an aura that made the room cold. The whole place was cold in general, but this room was colder than the hallways and he felt it was because of him.
The Grandmaster was a grown man in his early forties, but with a physical build of that of a man in his early thirties, with a well-developed musculature. Black hair as well as his beard, which encircled his jaw and mouth and joined his sideburns. He had black eyes and a cut scar ran across his right eye. He wore the same blue vest as Frost, but with nothing else underneath, showing off his skin that didn't seem to be affected by the cold.
The Grandmaster's eyes were fixed on the three, but quickly settled on the one who was a stranger to him.
Raiden and Frost put their palms together and bowed in respect.
"Grandmaster Sub-Zero, I regret my unannounced arrival in your territory, but I sensed a disturbance in space-time near this area and after locating it, I came to inspect it," Raiden explained, knowing full well how territorial both ninja clans were and how little patience they had for unexpected visitors.
Sub-Zero leaned back a little on his ice seat, letting the crook of his right arm rest on his leg as his hand ran through his beard.
"I suppose that disturbance has something to do with the young man accompanying you, doesn't it?"
Raiden and Sasuke knew it wasn't question.
"It would seem so. He is…" he left the words in the air for Sasuke to introduce himself to everyone.
"I'm Sasuke Uchiha," he introduced himself. "And I'm not from this world," he said bluntly. There was no point in hiding it. It would only make these people more suspicious of him than they already were and he was in no condition for a prolonged escape, much less a fight against clearly skilled warriors with powers that while familiar to him, were different from what he knew. "And before you think otherwise, I'm not here by choice."
I add the latter so they don't start suspecting something like an invasion from another universe or that he was an infiltrated spy. He preferred to avoid the looks of suspicion that were very annoying or being made to do certain things to prove it.
Though he doubted they wouldn't do the latter, but it was worth a try.
To his surprise, Raiden nodded, not looking surprised or incredulous at the statement, as Frost was. Sub-Zero kept his expression emotionless, attentive to what he heard.
"Just as I thought," the Thunder God said. "I knew right away that you weren't from any realm in our universe when I saw your eye."
Speaking of which…
"How do you know the Uchiha Clan?" he asked, squinting his right eye, which had deactivated his Sharingan for Chakra saving.
"I'll answer that and any other questions you have in a moment. First, you should take a shower, change your clothes and eat. You'll probably be very tired."
To emphasize his words, Raiden pointed at him fully. He had slight, visible bruises on his face, his hair was dirty and his clothes had scratches everywhere. In addition, although he wanted to look strong so as not to appear vulnerable to strangers, Sasuke was exhausted. He had learned to carry the exhaustion and not show it since he was a child, but Raiden could see past the superficial.
"Sure, only if, our host allows it," he added, looking at the Grandmaster.
"I have no problem," he said. His gaze had never left the young man. "As long as I don't cause trouble or seriously harm someone."
"As long as you don't provoke me," Sasuke replied. His gaze swiveled from Sub-Zero back to Raiden. "And why should I trust any of you in the first place?"
Frost took a step forward, wanting to restrain this ill-mannered man who, even after allowing him to enter the temple as a foreigner, dared to taunt and be rude in front of the Grandmaster. Sub-Zero stopped his apprentice from making any rash moves by raising a hand and giving him a cold stare.
This young man was a matter for Raiden to handle.
Raiden was unaffected by Sasuke's words. He almost seemed to have expected that question.
"I understand your distrust. I can't imagine what you're going through right now, finding yourself in another world, one completely unknown to you, not having the strength to defend yourself against whatever threat is thrown at you," he paused, then continued in a strong voice. "But you are here. Whether it is by accident or fate, only time will tell. But for that, you must allow us to help you. Even if we only provide you with food and a roof to sleep under, you must allow us to help you. In return, I will answer all your questions and help you find your way home."
As a ninja, he had learned that his primary duty was to fight for and on behalf of Konoha Village. After leaving the village to be trained by Orochimaru, assassinating his brother and discovering the Uchiha Clan's plot and learning Itachi's version of that event, resurrecting the last 4 Hokages and asking him, especially the First Hokage, what the village and being a ninja meant, he had changed his whole mentality of revenge, coming up with one answer: revolution.
If he destroyed the old Ninja World by assassinating the Kages and getting rid of the Bijuu, he would create a new world, one without darkness. Live in the shadows, protect the village from the shadows, receive all the hatred and watch over the peace, as his brother did.
Having no parents, no siblings, no lovers, he had been willing to be the enemy of the world, bearing all the hatred alone. That was the kind of Hokage he had wanted to be.
But Naruto showed him that there were things he couldn't do alone, no matter how much power he had.
He stopped him from cutting off his past and showed him that there was another way, a way covered with light and people.
A path of people who were now far away.
And here and now, in a world totally unknown to him, he could not survive alone. He would need the help of these people to survive until he returned to Konoha. Besides, the questions they had could not be answered alone.
"Okay..." he said. "I just need to rest for a couple of days. I can go home alone."
Once his Chakra was fully recovered and his Rinnegan ready, he would open a portal and and go home. Until then, he would stay.
Raiden smiled, sincerely relieved that the young man had agreed.
Sub-Zero sat back in his chair.
"If you are going to stay, there are some rules you will have to follow, but they will be explained to you later. Frost will escort you to an empty room to rest and we'll leave you a change of clothes," he saw that his ward didn't like the idea and was about to protest, but he beat him to it. "That's an order."
Frost clenched his fists and growled under his breath. Next, he started down the stairs.
"Follow me and I'll show you the passageway. Don't expect a special room just because you're a guest."
"I've slept in worse places," Sasuke replied, following Frost. He wasn't lying. Orochimaru's lairs were anything but cozy. Now that the guy was "redeemed," his lairs looked more usual for humans.
As the two young men left the room, Raiden and Sub-Zero could now talk alone.
"What do you think of him, Kuai Liang?"
Kuai Liang was the Grandmaster's real name. Sub-Zero is a warrior's nickname used by his grandfather when he served the clan, and then used by his brother, and he inherited it after his death at the hands of Scorpion in the tenth Mortal Kombat tournament, a little over two decades ago.
"He is young, but his posture and the way he breathes indicate that he is very well trained. He also knew how to recognize my warrior ability just by looking at me, which tells me he has a lot of combat experience for someone so young. He was probably trained from a very young age."
"He also had wounds all over his body and looked exhausted. Clearly, he had a difficult battle before he arrived, which explains why he didn't try to fight or escape," Raiden added.
"If he was able to defeat Frost while tired from a previous battle, it means he's more skilled than he looks. He might even be a match for me."
There was also the possibility that Frost got overconfident and that was why he lost. Kuai could almost be sure that happened, but it doesn't alter anything. It was Frost's fault that he got overconfident, when in a battle one should never take victory for granted.
"But his skill isn't the only thing that caught my attention."
"Oh no, what else?" Raiden would listen with interest to what Sub-Zero would say.
"His eyes. Although only his right eye was visible, I could see something in his eye that I had only seen once before on someone else…"
Raiden needed no more to know who Kuai was referring to. After he purged his clan of the Cyber Lin Kuei and restructured his clan with his help, Sub-Zero and Scorpion, now bearing his former name, Hanzo Hasashi, were finally able to make peace between their clans and between them personally. He does not know what agreement they came to, but as long as it is in favor of peace and the safety of Earthrealm, he will not meddle between them.
If Kuai Liang claims to see something in Sasuke that he had only seen in Hanzo, perhaps a little more care should be taken in his guest, just as a precaution.
But even so, Raiden would trust the kindness and rationing that Sasuke has shown so far. He would always choose to advocate for peace rather than fight.
"I have to admit that I am surprised at the Lin Kuei's response to Sasuke's arrival in our world. I didn't know his training was also included space-time disturbance alert," Raiden said in compliment.
"My men weren't looking for him…" replied Sub-Zero, knowing he could hide no more from Raiden.
The Thunder God raised an eyebrow. "If you didn't deploy troops for Sasuke, then what has you so worried?"
Raiden knew that anything that kept the Lin Kuei on their toes was something to be reckoned with. Their numbers were not as great as they had been in the past and they still had many trainees who lacked training. If they received an attack, they would be at a disadvantage.
Sub-Zero got up from his seat and walked down the steps until he was on the same level as Raiden.
"In the last month, some of my agents were killed and after capturing those responsible, we discovered that they were members of the Red Dragon," he revealed. "A week ago there were sightings of them around Lin Kuei territory, so I've been sending out patrols around the clock since then. Frost's patrol ran into Sasuke by pure coincidence."
Raiden frowned in concern upon hearing that name. The Red Dragon was a centuries old cult of the Earthrealm, created by one of Argus' sons. It was a criminal organization with many resources and they made deals with people not only from Earth, but also with the Outworld, a kingdom homonymous with Earth and under the leadership of its tyrannical leader, was Earth's main enemy for centuries.
The current state of the Outworld is that of a civil war between the heiress of its former leader against the new ruler of the Outworld, chosen by the high officials of the crown and by all the people of the Outer World who are tired of senseless wars.
The Red Dragon relies on stealth and secrecy to carry out their operations, although when necessary, they are willing to come out into the open.
That there are agents lurking near Lin Kuei territory was worrisome.
"Why didn't you warn them earlier?" Raiden questioned softly.
"It's Lin Kuei's problem. I don't need you or your Shaolin meddling," Sub-Zero replied firmly. He could accept help from the other organizations charged with defending Earth, but he wouldn't ask them for help in problems of his clan, not when it had yet to be proven that they couldn't themselves. "But what I don't know is why the Red Dragon lurks near my territory. I didn't do anything to turn against him."
What Sub-Zero says was true. He never encountered any members of the Red Dragon or had any problems with them. Sub-Zero was focused on destroying the Cyber Lin Kuei, before he was possessed by Havik's blood curse by one of the Kamidogu daggers. When he was released after a fight against Hanzo and eliminated the Cyber Lin Kuei for good, he focused entirely on the restoration of his clan until today.
It would make more sense if they went against the Shirai Ryu, since Hanzo killed one of their leaders, Hsu Hao, long ago. Why then are they stalking Sub-Zero?
A possible answer popped into Raiden's mind.
"Maybe they know we have him here..."
Raiden and Kuai Liang looked into each other's eyes. In both of them, the feeling of concern at such a possibility could be seen.
"I know you don't like others meddling in your clan's affairs, but if Daegon found it, he'll come for everything to take it. Even your forces won't be enough to repel him."
As much as he hated to admit it, Raiden was right. The Lin Kuei's forces were too low at the moment. They would be no match against the Red Dragon's numbers and armaments.
"If you don't want the Shaolin, I understand. But at least accept the help of the General Blade and the Special Forces," Raiden added as an incentive for Sub-Zero to accept help.
I don't need any more. He may not have been closely related to most of the defenders and for a while they were enemies when he was a returnee, but Kuai Liang was confident in Sonya Blade and Jonnhy Cage's abilities.
"Agreed."
(One hour later)
After being left in a room by Frost, Sasuke allowed himself to see the place. It was a simple room that reminded him of his own when he still lived in Konoha, with a sliding door, a futon, a small table, a small closet, a window and a lamp hanging from the ceiling. He waited a few minutes for them to bring him some change of clothes. When they were brought to him, he took off his clothes and left them folded in the corner of the bathroom and stepped into the en-suite shower, allowing the warmth of the hot water to wash over him. A luxury that, since he left on a trip after the war, he didn't always have.
After staying longer than he wanted to, he stepped out of the shower, dried off and put on his new clothes and looked at himself in the mirror. He wore a blue long sleeve shirt with dark blue pants and black boots with blue laces. The blue shirt reminded him of the clothes he wore when he was Genin and changed to black during the Chunnin Exams, but which he wore again during his journey to Orochimaru where he fought Naruto for the first time in earnest.
Although he doesn't like to wear clothes that didn't have the Uchiha emblem, he won't be ungrateful to his guests, who offer him to stay, give him food and clothes without anything in return.
But he felt that something was missing…
It took him no time at all to notice and as he reached for his discarded clothes, he pulled out his old shinobi sash that Naruto gave him before he left on his journey of redemption. The metal of the sash was held in place by a blue cloth that he used to wrap it around his head, on his forehead. The symbol of Konoha bore a cut mark, caused by Naruto in the first fight in the Valley of the End.
Having left his band thrown away in that battle, he intended to leave his past as a village ninja behind and continue on his path of revenge. A symbol that he was willing to give up everything to kill the murderer of his parents and his clan.
Naruto had kept it all along and returned it to him. He had accepted it back, saying he would keep it until their next duel. To have accepted it had been an oath, a promise between two friends who understood each other through pain and could now put grudges and grudges behind them. Of two brothers of everything but blood.
"Would Itachi be proud of the path I've taken?"
In his farewell, his brother told him that no matter what, he would always love him. Sasuke had no doubt of that, but sometimes he wished for a sign that he was following the right path in defending the village, as he would have done. The incident of the clan from the Hot Springs was still fresh in his mind. They had attacked the village just to get to him, and would have continued attacking it if they had not met on the way by pure coincidence.
After that and after freeing all the prisoners of the clandestine fights, arresting all those involved with the support of Kakashi and the Raikage, he had decided to continue protecting the village without being in it, but he still had doubts.
Would it be enough to pay for his sins? Of course not. He killed many people, joined Akatsuki, wanted to take revenge on all of Konoha for the suffering of Itachi and his clan that was caused by the higher-ups, and was willing to kill the five Kages while they were still sleeping for his misconceptions. Not to mention, his friends that he hurt with his actions, earning their distrust and hatred. Even spending his entire life on missions would not be enough to make up for the blood and tears shed.
Protecting the village sounded like a good way to serve the peace of the world that coincided with his idea of a penitential journey, but would it be enough?
In the end, all these doubts boiled down to a single question: what is the path he must travel?
He snapped out of his thoughts as he felt someone approach his door. It was Raiden. He could tell because the guy was a walking bundle of energy.
He heard a couple of knocks on the door. "Are you fixed, Sasuke? "Raiden asked, respecting the privacy. "I can wait a little longer if you want."
"No. Come in. We have a lot to talk about and I'd prefer to do it soon," Sasuke replied.
Raiden opened the door and walked in. He was carrying a tray of food with wooden chopsticks in his hands. The food was rice with fish and soup, a traditional meal in Konoha, and unbeknownst to Sasuke, in Japan.
"I hope this is to your liking. The Grandmaster wants you to be comfortable in your stay, though he wants you to know that as long as you stay with him, you will have to follow the same rules as everyone else in the clan," Raiden said, sitting cross-legged on the floor and setting the tray of food down in front of Sasuke.
"Like what?" Sasuke asked.
"Nothing complicated: get up at the same time as everyone else, eat in the same room. Maybe ask you to spar a bit with some clan members. And of course, stay out of trouble with anyone here."
Just that? Sasuke could do all that even if he wasn't told. Except the last thing. He wouldn't look for trouble and try to keep a low profile, but if some idiot came around to bother him it wouldn't be his fault. Of course he wouldn't kill anyone, but he wouldn't take responsibility for someone's injury or coma.
The Uchiha sat down on the floor cross-legged and picked up the chopsticks, starting to eat the rice first. Even though he was very hungry and could devour everything with just his hand, his mother had taught him all sorts of basic manners. Although she didn't always follow them, the manners of eating she had always respected, even in her darkest days.
So instead of devouring the food like an animal as others (Naruto) would have done, he ate calmly, gulping down some rice before putting the chopsticks aside and picking up the bowl with the miso soup and drinking it in one trip.
Raiden smiled, a little amused.
This boy could tell he was hungry, but he put his manners first. It wasn't a very common thing for a young man to do.
It reminded him of another young man he knew. A young warrior who had been the hope of the whole world, a son to him, a disciple ... but he failed him.
He closed his eyes, letting the regrets that had haunted him for two decades fade away. What had happened was tragic, but it could not be reversed. Not for now, at least.
After a few short minutes in which the only sound was chopsticks moving between plates and Sasuke's teeth chewing on the food, the meal was finished with all the plates empty, no leftovers.
"Thank you," Sasuke said, grateful for the good food.
"I'll send your thanks to the Grandmaster and the temple chef," Raiden said with a smile, moving the tray to the side. "I think it's time to talk, what do you want to know first?"
There were many things Sasuke wanted to know; what Raiden was, what was the world he was in, but there was one that predominated among them all.
"You knew I was from the Uchiha Clan by seeing my Sharingan, how do you know about my clan?"
Raiden knew that would be the first question.
"You are not the first individual from your world to come to mine. In total, four individuals from your world came to mine at different times, not counting you. two of those individuals were Uchiha. does the name Naori Uchiha ring a bell?"
Sasuke knew that name. It is the name of the Uchiha who created the Izanami and stopped the Izanagi's abuse of power within the clan in times of wars before even the time of the First Hokage.
Also, after reviewing some records of his clan upon his release and before he left Konoha, he discovered that Naori was Madara's great aunt.
"From your reaction, it seems so," Raiden said.
"How did she come to this world?" asked Sasuke interestedly.
"She never found out. What she told me, was that she faced a beast called the Four-Tailed Bijuu, and while using a technique to save her life, an explosion occurred and she ended up in the Earth Realm."
That... sounded a bit similar to what happened to Sasuke, but she couldn't do the same. If she had used a technique to save his life, it must have been Izanagi, a Genjutsu that cheats reality and death itself, but it wasn't a space-time ability like opening portals with the Rinnegan.
"What happened to her?" asked Sasuke, interested in the outcome of someone who was important in his clan.
"She became one of the Earth Champions for the fourth Mortal Kombat tournament, but before the finals, she was poisoned. The poison didn't kill her, but it left her too weakened to fight properly and she ended up dying in kombat," she recounted with regret. To this day, she does not forgive Shang Tsung for the vile trap he set for the Outer World to win. It was just one more of countless reasons to hate him and not mourn him when he died. "She told me of the Sharingan and her clan's abilities, so that's why I recognized you as an Uchiha when I saw your eye. I regret your passing."
Although he did not like someone talking about his clan to a stranger, when he put himself in Naori's situation, he understood her. She had no way to return to her world and she doesn't know how she got here. Resigned, she decided to live in this world, only to be poisoned and die in combat.
Although the tournament she participated in caught her attention, she decided not to ask about it, since it didn't go with the topic and it didn't matter.
"She knew the risks when fighting, so it's not worth regretting. Besides, I only know her by reputation. She lived in a time long before I was born."
"I understand."
"Who were the other two individuals who came into this world?"
"One was named A, and the other, oddly enough, has your same name: Sasuke Saruboti."
"Sasuke Sarutobi!" Sasuke exclaimed incredulously, recognizing the person. Sasuke Sarutobi had been the father of Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage. According to his father, he had asked the Third to name him after his father to wish strength and bravery to his son as he had. "He's supposed to be long dead…".
Although the same could apply to Naori. Somehow, individuals who in her world were long dead, came to this world.
There was also the fellow named A. It was not the same one he knew. He had learned that "A" was an inherited name among the Raigakes. So this "A" must have been one of the previous Raikages.
"Are any of them still alive?" Sasuke asked.
Raiden shook his head.
"A was killed by the Chaos Cleric Havik in a Chaosrealm attack on Earth two centuries ago, and Sasuke Sarutobi died due to old age, but he trained a large number of Shaolin Monks, including the one who would be the savior of Earth in Mortal Kombat."
Bo'Rai'Cho was the one who was mainly in charge of Liu Kang's training, but it was Sarutobi, already in his last years of life, who awakened the fire in Liu Kang and taught him to control it, to use it not only as a weapon, but as an extension of himself. He also taught Kung Lao how to combine his Chi with his hat, turning it into a lethal weapon. Even his old native friend from the Outworld acknowledged that Sarutobi was a better teacher to them than he was.
Had he arrived a few decades later, Sasuke Sarutobi might have participated in the tournament as the Chosen One to defend it; but his lessons served to keep the Earth in existence to this day, and his teachings were recorded for Shaolin training today and in the future.
Assimilating all the information, Sasuke nodded. There were things he was missing, such as why three people from his world came to this world in different time periods. They were all from separate eras and with no connections to bind them together.
Wait... three?
"You said there were four who came besides me, and when you mentioned that I wasn't the only Uchiha, you made it plural. Who's the fourth, another Uchiha?"
Raiden nodded.
"You're right that the fourth is an Uchiha. In fact, he is alive and is a valuable ally. He came to our world fourteen years ago and he doesn't know the reason why he came either."
Another Uchiha alive? As unrealistic as it sounded, the prospect sounded too tantalizing not to want to delve into it. By the time it arrived, it must have come around the year the Uchiha massacre occurred. Perhaps the Last Uchiha would no longer be the last of his clan.
"Where is he, who is he?" she stood up, unable to hide her anxiety. "I have to see him."
Raiden showed no surprise at her reaction or body language. He didn't know why this person was so important to him, but he wouldn't ask, though he would take that reaction into account.
"He's on a joint mission with one of the other Earth Champions right now, but as soon as he's done, I'll have you meet with him immediately. And as for who he is, his name is..."
When he heard the name, Sasuke couldn't believe that, of all the Uchiha, it was him.
In the Krimson Forest, in the Earthrealm.
The Krimson Forest is a mystical forest surrounding a mountain known as the Charred Mountain. The mountain houses a hidden cavern that serves as the main base of the Red Dragon.
Inside the mountain, which was a channel of tunnels with rivers of boiling lava, Daegon watched the members of the clan he founded centuries ago carry crates of bladed weapons and firearms to the other corner.
Daegon was a man who looked to be in his thirties, shaven-headed, with only his right eye visible and his left eye had a scar running across his white left eye and another running across the side of his good eye. He had a goatee. He wore square shoulder pads with two straps that ran across his chest forming an "X", His pants were red with a combat coat tail and from his shoulder pads hung a red cloak to below his waist.
Daegon was overseeing all the operations of his clan, as one of the objectives for which he founded the clan were close to being fulfilled. Only a few arrangements were needed and the Lin Kuei would fall, and what they were hiding would be theirs.
A Red Dragon soldier approached their leader to whisper in his ear:
"My lord, Lord Goro returned with the rest of his men."
Daegon's lips stretched into the shadow of a smile, but it faded very quickly and he returned to his stoic expression.
"Let him come in. I want to see the gift he brought me."
The soldier nodded and left. A few seconds later, Daegon felt heavy footsteps approaching behind him.
Goro, the Shokan Prince. Once the pride of his race and unbeatable champion of 9 Mortal Kombat tournaments, until Liu Kang defeated him, the beginning of his fall from grace.
The Shokan were a race from the Ouworld, considered by many to be the strongest, since their sizes of almost three meters high, their very defined musculature and their four arms made them very powerful warriors who could easily split a body in half. with only his strength.
Goro had been the prince and future king of that proud race, descendant of the last dragons. But four years ago, Kotal Khan, the new leader of the Outworld, defeated him in combat after Goro murdered his father and his entire Osh-tekk tribe. Instead of giving him the warrior death that Goro wanted, Kotal cut off his arms.
Dishonored, Goro could no longer ascend the throne, so he went on a journey of self-exile to heal his wounds and one day claim revenge against whoever dishonored him.
A tournament was held among the Shokan to decide the king, and Sheeva was the winner. As their queen and the strongest of the Shokan, Sheeva has remained neutral in the Outworld civil war, choosing neither side.
And during Goro's journey, he arrived at the gates of his base to join the Red Dragon, because the being the clan worships has the ability to regenerate members, an ability that Goro is very interested in.
For the past four years, Goro became a member of the Red Dragon, doing missions and climbing the ranks of the clan's hierarchy, until he was one of its leaders, second only to Deagon.
"I hope your mission was successful," Daegon said, without turning to look at Goro and the few men accompanying him.
The Shokan did not respond. Daegon only heard something fall and the pitiful moan of his honored guest.
Kenshi Takahashi was a man in his forties, heading into fifties, his black hair and beard had streaks of gray. He wore a suit with mainly red armor parts and had a blindfold of the same color covering his eyes, which had been useless for a long time. He had several wounds and blood on his body, both his own and that of others whom he cut to survive.
Takahashi had infiltrated the Red Dragon on orders from the Special Forces as a spy many years ago. It didn't take long for Daegon to discover it and upon investigating him, he not only discovered that he comes from a family of respectable warriors, but also that he had a son, something that not even Kenshi himself seemed to know.
After the elusive traitor escaped upon discovery, he sent men to kill the child's mother and her offspring. The mother was successfully killed, but the child survived, and Kenshi took him to Shirai Ryu territory.
At that time, the Red Dragon did not have the resources to confront Scorpion or his reborn and rising clan, so they stayed away from the boy.
In the following years, Kenshi, along with that guy with the weird eyes, were the Red Dragon's main enemies by sabotaging several operations, capturing and eliminating many members and bases around the world. In recent years, they have been joined by Kenshi's spawn to their cause.
Even with their victories over them, they are far from discovering the Red Dragon's main base, or even Daegon's name. He was a demigod, son of Argus and Delia. Mere humans, no matter how annoying they were, were no match for him.
However, Takahashi was very annoying, so he ordered Goro, with fifty of his best men, to ambush him and bring him to him. It would have been more feasible to kill him, but Daegon wanted to torture him, to make him suffer before he died. He won't die a merciful death, not after all the trouble he's given her.
"What happened to the other idiot and Takahashi's son?" Daegon asked, with little real interest in them.
"They escaped. They didn't follow us," Goro replied.
Daegon doubted it. Takahashi's partner has proven to be very smart and skilled in the art of concealment and infiltration. His skills were too superior. He was probably outside with Kenshi's son, looking for a way to infiltrate and rescue his friend.
Let them pass. Daegon will personally take care of both insects.
"Well done. You really are a prince, Goro," he praised. "For that and your loyal service to the Red Dragon, I have good news for you: we will finally put into action our main objective, the reason you joined in the first place."
The son of Argus did not need to look to know that his words were ones the Shokan had long wanted to hear.
"Means…"
"It means that tomorrow, you, Prince Goro, will lead the Red Dragon forces against the Lin Kuei to take the dragon egg to resurrect Onaga."
Second complete chapter.
In this second chapter, Sasuke arrives at the Lin Kuei Temple and meets Sub-Zero, who immediately notices that Sasuke has many similarities with Hanzo. Along the way, Sasuke learns that more people from his world have arrived in this world, and that only one is still alive and he is an Uchiha.
Which Uchiha do you think it is? It's not Itachi, he added quickly. I think I left it easy.
The chapter also served to place the debate that Sasuke faces.
Now that he has no revenge to fulfill or hatred per se, what comes next? Sasuke was willing to go the canon route from Naruto to Boruto, but here he has doubts whether going down the shadow protector path is what he really wants.
And at the end, what will be the conflict of the first arc was presented: the Red Dragon, Goro and the resurgence of Onaga. An arc that would be developed in the Mortal Kombat X comics, but was cancelled. It's also mentioned a lot in MK 11. So I decided to flesh it out.
What do you think of the idea?
And the change I made from the end of the MK The end of the chapter was a reference to that.
But anyway. Wait for my next chapter, which will take much longer to update than this one. Thank you for reading!
