Suki was terrified. She didn't listen to her mom and because of that not only had she been captured by a Bergan, but she also got her little brother captured. She was the worst daughter ever. Suki did her best to hold back her tears. She could not help but think back to the last thing she said to her mom. She told her that she hated her. That could be the last thing she might ever get to say to her and now her mom won't ever know that she didn't mean it. Cooper saw Suki and how upset she was. He pulled her in closer to him and she just clung to his leg tightly. They were all quiet. Afraid to make a single sound. The bag was dark and they were bouncing around tumbling into one another; it was a miracle that Keith and Gary stayed in Suki's hair or that she managed to hold onto Cooper's leg.
When Chef finally stopped moving they could hear a muffled conversation taking place. Creek looked up and saw that the bag was finally being opened and he pointed it out to everyone. Cooper made sure Suki, Gary, and Keith were well hidden behind him. The adults stuck their heads out of the hole to see what was going on. They were in the Bergan Palace. Facing the King. When Guy Diamond looked up at Chef she had her wicked grin plastered on her face. She was back. She had become the Chef again and she was loving being in charge once again. She closed the bag once more causing all the trolls to fall to the bottom of the bag again. Chef marched down the castle halls towards her beloved kitchen that she has missed. Chef was barking orders once more and feeling alive once more. Chef pulled out a cage and dumped all of the trolls into and locked them up.
"What are you going to do with us?" Smidge asked angrily. Milton quickly went to pull her back from Chef. "You are going to be our main feast as we bring back Trollstice. You are going to help me become Queen." Chef said smuggly. "How do you plan to do that?" Guy shouted back. Chef just smiled at him and it was so scary that Cooper accidentally pooped cupcakes. Suki just looked down at them before turning back to her Uncle. Reminding herself not to let Keith eat any of those. "Well little one. Like I learned at a very young age. He who controls the trolls, controls the kingdom, and I am that he." She was not trying to be funny at all, but her comment had just confused Cooper on one part. "Wait? You're a dude?" Everyone just wanted to face palm themselves. Chef however did not take any humor from his comment. Instead she just took out her knife causing the others to gasp. She sliced up a lemon and squirted the juice in Cooper's eyes. Everyone else just winced at this, even the guards.
Out of the corner of Chef's eye she saw a lonely looking sculry maid. "You! What is your name?" Chef shouted at the girl, taking her by surprise. She looked around for a minute before pointing to herself. "Whe me?" Chef was annoyed at this. "Yes, you. Name. Now." She demanded. "Bridget. Ma'me." Bridget said sulluting the older woman. "Alright Idget. You got very lucky and now work for me. Take these trolls and look after them. Do NOT let them out of your sight. Do you understand?" Bridget took the trolls from her and nodded vigorously. "Yes Chef." Bridget left with a rush to do as she was told. Chef just smiled to herself. She was so close to having everything back that she had lost and more. All she needed was to figure out a way to get the rest of those trolls.
Poppy woke up before Branch which really surprised her, but she didn't get as much sleep as she had hoped. She was just flooded with thoughts of what Branch had told her the night before. Branch for all her downfalls and quirks. She really did care even if she did have a hard time showing it. Everything she did for her was because she was doing it for an older sister Poppy didn't even remember having. And even though she would not admit it, Poppy was mad. How could her father not even tell her? Not tell her about the trolls who didn't make it. Not tell her about Viva? And from the way Branch spoke about her it was not her idea to keep Viva a secret so why did she? She had a right to know. She needed to know the whole history of her people even if it wasn't all cupcakes and rainbows. It was that thought that brought back a memory of a fight between her and Branch.
"Come on Poppy, you need to be serious sometimes. Life isn't all cupcakes and rainbows. Sometimes bad things happen and you can't do anything about it. You need to be able to deal with it and accept that it happens and I can not wait for the day you realize this." Branch shouted at Poppy, who was not happy to be told this. "I know that. But I would much rather believe that it mostly is than to live like you." Poppy responded back. She knew life wasn't always great, but what was the alternative? Dwelling in the negatives and never living your life? She would much rather be positive. She would still be able to handle anything that came her way. She knew she could, so why not have fun!
Poppy wanted to laugh at herself. Branch was right. Again. She didn't take any concerns seriously and now the people she loves are in danger. Maybe she couldn't have handled being told all of what happened that day. At least not before now. Maybe that's why Branch finally told her about Viva. She looked back at the sleeping troll. Branch was tossing a turning and did not look like she was getting any restful sleep. Branch saw the dark side of life and still managed to find love in her heart for Suki, Gary, and Keith. For Cooper and Sky Toranto. And even her. Especially when she did not make things easy for her. She wanted Branch to be happy, but she was starting to think how could you when you have seen so much darkness? Poppy then thought back to her dad. He stayed positive and happy even through the darkness, but he had people to look out for and people to be there for him and help him through it. Who did Branch have? Poppy felt there was more to the story that she was missing, but for now she knew one thing. Like all those years of Branch being there for her. She was going to do the same for her. She was going to start listening to her concerns and take them seriously. If Poppy was going to be queen she needed to start acting like it.
Poppy realized that it was probably time for them to start getting up and heading to Bergan Town. So she made sure the fire was really out and packed other stuff, made breakfast and woke up Branch. Woke up to the camp being mostly cleaned up for all but her sleeping bag and a small bag filled with berries, nuts, and seeds. Yum last night's dinner she thought sarcastically. Branch got up and started to bag her sleeping bag so they could leave. "I didn't think you would be up and ready this early." Branch said. Poppy didn't even smile at her. Branch sighed. She was worried about this. "Look Poppy about last night. I am sorry for not telling you about Viva sooner." Poppy was taken back a bit. She never thought she would hear Branch apoligize for this. "I understand why you and my dad didn't. You probably only told me now because you thought I could now handle the information or you probably think we are going to die and thought I should know before we meet our end. Whatever reason it is. I am glad you told me." Branch let out a sigh.
"I told you because you were wrong about me. I wasn't the best to you. I told you because you deserved why I was doing all of it. Also I miss her and every day I have to remind myself that you are not her even though you two are so similar and it really hurts. To not have her. So I kept silent and did my best to be a big sister for you since Viva couldn't be." Poppy felt joy at hearing that she was so much like Viva. "Thank you. Branch. For everything. I've never said that before and I really do think you did a great job." Poppy said, hugging Branch. "Yeah. Now let's go. We are burning daylight. Also please don't mention any of this to anyone." Branch said. Poppy almost giggled at the request and wanted to tease Branch about it but felt that would be in poor taste right now. "We are going to get them back. I am like 100% sure that they are not being digested right now." Poppy said, trying to lighten the mood. Branch just frowned at her. "Oh yeah, Poppy I feel much better." Poppy grinned widely at that. "Really?" Branch groaned for what felt like the hundredth time. "No. Now let's get going."
The Two made their way through the rest of the forest to the point of no return. The tunnels where the Pop Trolls had originally escaped. Branch was trying so hard to remember which tunnel it was but it was so long ago. Of all the things she could never forget even though she has tried. She could not remember the right tunnel. Branch never made a point of remembering it because she never in an eyon did she ever think that she would ever come back here. "There are so many tunnels. Do you remember which one it is?" Poppy asked so sincerely. Branch shook her head and sighed. "No. We are doomed if we can't figure it out." Branch said. "Only one leads to Bergan Town. The rest lead to certain death. If you do not choose carefully you will be DOOMED!" Branch heard back but it was not Poppy's voice speaking. It was then that they realized that they were not alone. "Who said THAT?!?" Poppy screamed. "IT WAS… me."
Out from behind a rock a cloud walked out wearing nothing but a pair of socks and sunglasses. "Hello, sorry I was the one warning you. The name's Cloud Guy. So you are looking for the tunnel that leads to Bergan Town?" He asked and Poppy was more than happy to make a new friend, but Branch did not trust him one bit. "Yes. Do you know which one it is? Could you help us?" Before Cloud Guy could answer back, Branch pulled Poppy away. "No, we are good." Poppy turned around to face Branch. "Branch, he could help." She said. "I don't trust him. I mean who wears socks with no shoes it's weird." Poppy just gave Branch a glare. "Really well we do, however, we need his help. That is unless you suddenly remember which tunnel will not lead up to certain death." Poppy said and Branch groaned knowing that Poppy was right. With that Poppy went back to Cloud Guy. "Um, excuess me. Could you please tell us which tunnel to take?"
Cloud Guy jumped thrilled that they had changed their minds. "Of course, but first you need to give me a high five." He said, holding up his hand. "Oh, I love hi fives." Poppy said excitedly, getting ready to do the request. "Oh, I know you'll do it, but will Miss Pretty Pout do it?" He gestured to Branch. "Nope I'm good. Just let Poppy hi five you so we can get going." Branch said, taking one more step away from the creepy cloud. "Come on Branch it is one hi five, the others lead to certain death please get some perspective and stop wasting time." Poppy pleaded. She knew that if she didn't nip this in the butt they would be here all day with Branch refusing to hi five this weirdo. "Fine. One hi five then we really need to get going." Poppy gave Branch a sympathetic smile. "Don't worry Branch, we will get your kids back." Cloud Guy had originally planned to mess with this grey beauty but chose not to for once doing the right thing without annoying the tears out of everyone. He was going to make sure he got them on the way back through though and then all beat where off.
After the simple hi five Cloud Guy led them through the right tunnel and they ended up at the top of the old Troll Tree which looked as though it had seen better days. "Well you girls are fun. Hit me up on your way back. That is if you don't. DIE. DIE. DIE." With that Cloud Guy left, leaving Branch and Poppy to look out at Bergan Town. Poppy saw that they were just as miserable as Branch usually means. "They are still sad and grumpy like you. They haven't eaten a troll yet." She said happily. Branch was offended by her comment but decided to let it slide because they did not have time to argue over that. The two girls started their way to the Bergan Castle. It wasn't going to be easy and they had to hurry. Who knew who long they had before they started to eat the captured trolls. Branch hoped that her babies were ok.
Biggie was freaking out over the entire situation. "Don't worry Mr. Dinkles. Guys Mr. Dinkles is freaking out!" Creek went over to try and help calm his larger friend. "Everyone, we need to stay calm." That is when Chef butted in. "That's right, a calm troll is a tasty troll. By this time tomorrow I will be Queen and give everyone what they deserve. True Happiness!" Chef left the frightened trolls after that. Once they were sure she was gone and were left in the cage, Keith and Gary decided to come out of Suki's hair. Creek was shocked by this. "You have your little brothers with you. That's so irresponsible." Suki started to cry and Creek jumped back clearly not expecting her to start crying. Guy just pulled Creek back. They were all a little stressed. Cooper went to his niece. "Hey Suki, it's ok. You kept them safe." Cooper said, trying to calm her down. "He was at the party because of me. I didn't listen to mommy and now I am never gonna see her again." Creek scoffed. Everyone was a little surprised at the love the little girl had for her mother. "Why?" Creek had inadvertently said. Suki got mad at the bullying her mother went through. "Because she is the best mommy ever. She loves me, and keeps me safe. But now she hates me. I didn't listen." Suki started to cry again and ran Back to Cooper who held her." Hey Branch will never hate you. If I am being honest I think the only time I've ever seen her happy was when she is with you, Gary, and Keith. She will always love you no matter what and I bet she is on her way right now. "
"But the last thing I said to her was that I hate her." Everyone was stunned by that. "Why would you say that?" Biggie asked, confused. Those kids are Branch's world. "I was mad I couldn't go to the party. I get bullied at school cause she's grey. Now she won't know I didn't mean what I said." Suki said choppily. Cooper just hugged her close. Keith walked up to his sister while holding Gary's hand. "I want mommy." He said hugging her. Suki hugged him back. "Me too." She realized she needed to be there for her baby brother right now, so she wiped her tears. She turned back to her Uncle Cooper. "You really think mommy is coming?" She asked her Uncle Cooper. He gave his toothy goofy grin and nodded. "I have no doubt." Suki turned back to Keith and Gary. "Then we need to be brave until she gets here. Ok. Think we can do that?" Keith nodded yes as Gary woddled to hug his sister. "Ok. I will protect you." Keith and Gary just crawled back into their sister's hair and snuggled in close to her scalp. They knew they were safe with her and their Uncle Cooper. "I'm proud of you." Cooper said to the little girl. Suki just smiled back. "Thanks Uncle Cooper." The two hugged and everyone was left shocked at witnessing the tender moment. No one really knew the three kids Branch had adopted, but most of them were starting to see that they were clearly wrong about a lot of things. They were also hoping the Branch was coming too.
Poppy and Branch had made it to the castle without anyone spotting them. They had made it up to the lights so they had a better view of the palace. "Where do you think they are?" Poppy asked. Looking around trying to see if she can find the missing trolls. "I don't know, maybe on a silver platter somewhere." Branch said. She was starting to give hope of ever finding her babies ever again. Poppy saw the saddened look in Branch's eyes. "Hey you need to stay positive ok. They are alive, I feel it. Come try it. Just this once you might actually like it." Poppy said, mumbling the last part under her breath. Branch just turned to the younger troll and flashed a forced smile to her. "Thank you. See it wasn't that hard now was it?" Branch just gave her a questioning look but before she could snark back a response Poppy's hug time bracelet went off. "Branch." Branch rolled her eyes. "Really Poppy? Hug time now?" Poppy just shushed him. "No listen." It took Branch a moment to understand what she was listening for then it hit her. If her hug time bracelet went off then the others would too. Just like clockwork the hug time bracelets went off and they found the trolls.
Poppy jumped off the light and swung with her hair to the back of the bow on Bridget's apron followed by Branch. They were led to the dining hall and they jumped off of the apron and made their way to the chandelier without being spotted. They were able to hear the conversation that was being said underneath them. "This is gonna be the best Trollstice ever! Such a great idea I had." The young Bergan King told Chef. Poppy and Branch looked at one another. Poppy saw the panic in Branch's eyes. She wasn't old enough to remember trollstice, but she heard stories. She always forgets that Branch was one of the youngest trolls to still remember Trollstice. "Yes. Tomorrow is Trollstice, everyone and it must be perfect!" Chef ordered and smiled when she heard the response from everyone.
Poppy was starting to worry she was having a hard time finding where they were keeping the trolls until Chef removed a cloth to reveal them. "Branch look they are alive and on a silver platter we were both right!" Poppy whispered to Branch who looked and for the first time since the party she felt relief. She saw her daughter and would bet anything that Keith was in her hair. Chef was showing the King an old bib that was so small that it ripped in half. A laugh drew everyone's attention. "You think that's funny? We'll see who's laughing when I bite your yummy head off. When I bite all y'all yummy heads off." Poppy had to hold Branch back to make sure she didn't go after the Bergan King herself. The King turned to the Chef with a different problem in mind. "Wait a minute Chef, this isn't enough yummy heads off." Poppy had to hold Branch back so she didn't go after the King herself. It was at that moment that the King was more worried over a different problem. "Wait a minute Chef. This isn't enough yummy heads to feed all of Bergan Town. How are we supposed to have Trollstice if there's not enough Trolls?"
Even though Chef did not show it on her face she was worried when the King had finally noticed that she didn't have enough trolls. She needed to stall for time so she acted confident and grabbed one of the trolls from the cage. "There's plenty more where that came from, sire." The King did not seem to entirely believe her. "Are you sure? Because I promised everyone a Troll." Chef did her best not to break her smile but she ended up squeezing the troll she held in her hands. "No, no, no, sire! Everything will be fine." The Chef tried to reassure the King. "If I were truly worried… Would I do this?" She said she had presented the Troll she had in her hands. When Poppy saw who it was her heart broke. "Creek!" She shouted. If Branch had not covered Poppy's mouth and pulled her down and out of view they would have been spotted by the Chef and the King.
The King did not think twice about the noise; he was just happy that he was finally going to eat his first troll. "My FIRST Troll." The Chef just smiled at this. Everything was going according to her plan. It was Branch's turn to hold back Poppy as she wanted to go after Creek. "Go on, eat, King Gristel. Enjoy a taste of true happiness." The Chef said with a grin on her face. King Gristle was about to eat Creek when he stopped to contemplate whether or not he should. "Shouldn't we wait for Trollstice?" Chef was starting to lose her patients with the young royal but dared not let it show. "Sire, everyday is Trollstice when you hace Trolls." She said trying to convence him, even though he was still hesitant he was considering it more and more. "Yeah, I guess, but my dad said the first time should be special. I think I should share this moment with all the kingdom." Gristle said, sounding like he had made his final decision to not eat the troll, but Chef had finally had enough. "Well, you're the king now, Just eat it!" Chef shouted as she shoved Creek into the King's mouth.
It shocked everyone at this. "Oh, my Gah!" Smidge said. The twins ran and blocked the view of Suki, Gary, and Keith; they did not need to see this. Branch was grateful for this. As Branch kept an eye on her children, Poppy was focused on King Gristle and Creek. "Idget, lock these Trolls in your room and guard them with your life." The young Bergan nodded her head vigeruously and did as she was told. "Yes, Chef." Bridget quickly took all the remaining trolls to her room while the rest of the Bergans feld the dining hall. "No. Branch, we have to save him! We didn't see him chew. We didn't see him swallow! He could still be alive!" She pleaded with the older troll and she was held back. Branch saw the tears in her eyes and felt bad for Poppy and strangely enough for Poppy's stupid boyfriend Creek. But there was nothing that they could do and she needed Poppy to realize this. "Save him from what? His stomach? Face it, Poppy. Sometimes people go into other people's mouths and they don't come out. I'm sorry. If we go after Creek now, we're going to get eaten. I'm sorry, but it's too late for him."
Branch truly felt bad for Poppy, but there really was nothing else that they could do. POppy however did not want to take that answer so she did what she did before hopping down from the chandelier with Branch in tow and they both landed on the bow in the back of Bridget's apron so they were in the same room with the rest of the trolls. It did not take long for them to reach Bridget's room and once the Bergan girl had placed the cage on the table and went to her bed. Everyone could hear Chef shouting to throw the dish shoot. "Scullary maid! Wash these pots and pans for Trollstice. The King's inviting everyone. Except you." Wow total Cinderella moment Branch thought as she and Poppy watched her from behind a table leg. Bridget just sat on her bed crying. Suki saw this and felt bad for her. Bridget continued to lie down on her bed still crying as she pulled out a picture of the King and her that she collaged together. Poppy realized that the maid was in love with the king, but when she told Branch this the grey girl was in total denial about if Bergans could actually feel anything but misery.
Soon enough the sound of sobs grew quiet as Bridget had cried herself to sleep. Poppy did not hesitate to use her hair to pull herself up onto the table where their friends and family were being kept. Branch followed Poppy's lead eagerly. Once the two were up on the table they ran towards the cage. Suki had her head buried in her Uncle's leg and Cooper was doing everything he could to comfort them. There was no hiding the fact that Creek had been eaten, but he was glad that they twins had helped him by hiding her from watching it. Cooper had lifted his head and smiled at what he saw. "Poppy! Branch!" He said a little too loud. "Shhhh. We can't wake her." Branch whispered before turning to see Keith popping his head out of Suki's hair. Keith had somehow managed to get Gary to sleep. Suki turned her head and was overjoyed at the sight. "Mommy you came!" Suki said, running toward her mom and her aunt. Branch bent down on one knee to look her daughter in the eyes. "Of course I came. I would not have stopped looking for you. No matter how dangerous. No matter how far. I love you both so much. I hope you do know that." Branch said to her daughter. "I love you too. I'm so sorry for saying I hate you. I don't." Branch gave Suki a soft smile. "I know. Now let's get y'all out of there."
Branch reached into Poppy's hair to grab her scrapbooking scissors so she could pick the lock. Once she did Suki had run out of the now open cage door and straight to her mom for a hug and Keith hopped out of his sister's hair and hugged his mother's hair. Branch pulled Gary out of Suki's hair and placed him in her's. Poppy and the others could not help but smile at this heartwarming moment. Branch pulled out of the hug reluctantly and turned back towards the others. "Come we need to leave and the sooner we all can get out of here…" But before Branch could finish speaking Poppy interrupted her enthusiastically. "The sooner we can save Creek!" Branch whipped her head towards the pink princess. "What?!?" Branch said a little too loudly. They all became quiet when they heard Bridget start to speak afraid that they had woken her up. "Hello? Is it me you're looking for?" But before the trolls could run and hide Bridget rested her head back on her pillow. Apparently she was just sleep talking, but this made the Trolls realize that they did need to be more careful. They were not out of the woods yet.
Branch turned her attention back to Poppy with a tired look in her eyes. "I know you're looking for the cupcakes and rainbows here, but let's face it, Creek's been eaten. He's gone. Please accept that." Branch basically begged her. They other's know that Branch was right and tried to help her convince Poppy to leave. Biggie held Mr. Dinkles closer to his chest. "They put him in a taco. It was horrible." Biggie whispered so Suki and Keith couldn't hear him. Satin right at Branch. "We made sure." Satin said. "They couldn't see what happened." Chenille finished for her sister. Branch gave a small smile towards them. "I know. I saw. Thank you." Branch then turned to Cooper. "Thank you so much for looking out for them." Cooper just nodded his head. "Of course. They're family." Guy Diamond walked over to a saddened Poppy and placed a hand on her shoulder. "I'm so sorry, Poppy. Creek's gone." Branch turned back to Poppy and held her kids close. "Poppy, how could you possibly think Creek's still alive?"
"I don't think he's alive. I hope he's alive, and that's enough." She answered back. When Branch looked around and saw that it was also enough for everyone else as well she got frustrated. "How do you always look on the bright side? There is no bright side here. None!" Branch argued back angeriy. "There's always a bright side." Branch could no longer take any of this. She had other responsibilities than to babysit a naive pink princess with no self preservation. Branch placed Keith into his sister's hair and then grabbed Suki picking her up and putting her daughter in her hair. "If you are going to do this foolish rescue mission then count me out. I'm not going to risk my life or my childs' lives. I'm taking them home. Now. You are doing this without me." Branch said angery and frightened. Poppy was a little hurt by what Branch had said but she also understood. Suki was five, Keith was three, and Gary was two. The princess of thier tribe should not ask them to risk their lives. They're just kids. Before Poppy could say anything else a bright light flashed at them. "Hey! Where do you think you're going?"
So here we go chapter three of this new fanfic. I really do hope y'all enjoy this story as much as the last one. I know this feels like this is going at a bit of a fast pace but without all of the singing it is going through the story more quickly. Also I am trying to write this story a bit more differently than the last one even though I am using the transcript from the first movie. I just do not want it to seem like I am just copying and pasting from the transcript or my last story. This is a different story. It should feel like a different story and once we get past the first movie part I am pretty sure that it will feel much more different. This has also been a great writing exercise to write the same story twice but trying to make it different. Words are words but the way you put them can change everything. Will all of this said and done I really do hope you enjoyed this latest chapter and until the next time. Bye-bye for now my little Bookworms!
