Chapter Three-hundred and five: Kitakami Conniption, part five

After the groups had split up to go after the Loyal Three, Trip leading Rhyanna and Carmine were in the Paradise Barrens, eventually finding Okidogi in the northern part of the area. However, to the surprise of Trip and (especially) Rhyanna, Okidogi had somehow gotten really big. "Oh, here's the buff one," Carmine said, "Okidogi, with all of its mean muscles!"

"It was nowhere near this big when we last saw it, Carmine," Trip said, "It was at a height that many would say is reasonable for humans to get to, but now it looks big enough to contend with titan sized Pokémon."

"It... does seem to have gotten bigger than when we last saw it," Carmine admitted, "But that just means we have to cut it down to size!" Tossing up a ball to send out one of her Pokémon, Carmine said, "Go, Morpeko!"

"Go, Annihilape!" Rhyanna said as she sent out her Annihilape.

"Alright, Villetta," Trip said as he sent out his named Miraidon, "Let's rock it!" Pointing forward, Trip called out, "Villetta, use Electro Drift!"

"Morpeko, use Thunder Wave!" Carmine ordered.

"Annihilape, use Rage Fist!" Rhyanna commanded.

Villetta went first and rammed its Electro Drift attack into Okidogi, making it reel back a bit as the attack was stronger than normal due to the Electric Terrain set up by Villetta's Hadron Engine ability. Morpeko was next to get its attack in, firing off a Thunder Wave that struck Okidogi and was able to paralyze it. Annihilape was next to go, and its Rage Fist attack struck Okidogi right in the face, which caused it to flinch back from the hit but it wasn't an actual flinch that made it lose its ability to make an attack that turn.

But Okidogi still lost its ability to attack that turn due to paralysis. After Morpeko shifted to its Hangry Mode, the fighting resumed with Villetta getting off another Electro Drift, Morpeko getting in an Aura Wheel, and Annihilape getting in another Rage Fist. Okidogi was starting to look worn out, but it looked like it was able to take at least one more round of attacks from Trip's group. And on this turn Okidogi was able to attack, so it used Close Combat, a powerful fighting type attack that Trip and the girls with him were able to identify.

Luckily for them, Okidogi tried using Close Combat on Annihilape, whose partial ghost typing made the attack moot. After the next round of attacks, especially as Villetta's third Electro Drift looked to have scored a critical hit, Okidogi was finally defeated, falling over backwards onto the ground, laying there on its back in defeat. It also shrank back down to normal size, reminding Trip of when Titan Pokémon from when Arven was hunting Herba Mystica lost their titan mojo.

As Okidogi laid on the ground in defeat, Trip took out an Ultra Ball, expanded it, and tossed it at Okidogi while saying, "Go, Ultra Ball!" The ball flew at Okidogi, bumped into it, took it inside, then fell to the ground with a light clink. It then shook for a few moments before making a light ping sound, indicating that Okidogi had been captured.

As Trip walked up to collect the ball holding his newly caught Okidogi, Carmine said, "You actually caught one of the Lousy Three?"

"Professor Jacq of Naranja Academy did ask my group and I to look into capturing species of Pokémon native here in Kitakami that aren't found in Paldea or elsewhere," Trip said, "And Okidogi fits that bill although I wasn't expecting to catch it." After picking up Okidogi's ball, Trip spotted a gray mask with blue chunks around the eyes and black tusks coming from the lower jaw of the face of the mask. Trip picked the mask up.

"This has to be the mask Okidogi took from Kitakami Hall," Trip said, "It's going straight back to Ogrepon if you ask me."

"Should we go see if any of the others needs backup?" Rhyanna asked.

"Yeah, let's fly to Oni Mountain to see how Dawn's group is doing," Trip said. The ball containing Okidogi, who Trip had named Cheems, was then sent to Oak's lab. Trip called out Deelia while the girls called back their Pokémon they had out, Trip and Rhyanna got onto Deelia's back while Carmine was picked up by Villetta and carried under its right arm as if she were a sack of potatoes, and then the group flew off to Oni Mountain.

Over at Oni Mountain, Dawn with Leona and Omiyo had encountered Fezandipiti, who looked much bigger than what Dawn said it was when she, Trip, Kenny, Mina, and Carmine saw it at Loyalty Plaza. "It looks like it's running on the same mojo as the Titan Pokémon were when we were helping Arven hunt down the Herba Mystica," Dawn said.

"Well we need to beat it up," Omiyo said, "It's a bad guy who stole something belonging to Ogrepon, so it needs to be beaten up so we can get the thing back to Ogrepon!"

"Omiyo's got a point," Leona said, before tossing up a ball while saying, "Go, Mamoswine!" Leona's trio of Swinub have over the course of Leona's traveling as part of the crew of The Jelly-Filled Donut had all fully evolved into Mamoswine.

"Go, Bellibolt!" Omiyo said as she sent out her shiny Bellibolt.

"Alright, Miyabi," Dawn said as she sent out her named Iron Moth, "Let's get goin'!" After all of the Pokémon were out, Dawn said, "Miyabi, use Flamethrower!"

"Mamoswine, use Ice Shard!" Leona called out.

"Bellibolt, use Chilling Water!" Omiyo commanded.

Mamoswine attacked first due to using a priority move, and struck the titanic Fezandipiti with a moderate hit. Miyabi went next by striking Fezandipiti with Flamethrower, even managing to inflict a burn on it. Fezandipiti then tried using Play Rough on Miyabi but missed; even if it didn't miss, Miyabi being dual poison fire type plus Fezandipiti suffering from a burn ensured that the physical damage attack Play Rough wouldn't do a whole lot. Fezandipiti's physical attack power was further curbed by the attack debuff it got from being hit by Bellibolt's Chilling Water.

After Fezandipiti was pained by its burn, the girls had their respective Pokémon repeat their attacks from the first round when the second round started. Mamoswine used Ice Shard which scored a critical hit due to striking Fezandipiti on its burn, Miyabi used Flamethrower, and Bellibolt (after Fezandipiti was able to land a Play Rough on Miyabi which predictably didn't do much) used Chilling Water. Fezandipiti was then pained by its burn again.

The girls kept their attack on the titan like this until a Flamethrower from Miyabi scored a critical hit on Fezandipiti which took it out and brought it down. After the mojo making Fezandipiti titanic had left it and the pretty bird shrank back down to its normal size, Dawn took out an Ultra Ball and threw it at Fezandipiti while calling out, "Go, Ultra Ball!" Fezandipiti went into the ball which then fell to the ground with a light clink and shook for a bit before making a ping sound, indicating capture.

As Dawn walked up to collect the ball holding her newly caught Fezandipiti, she saw a red, fiery looking mask laying on the ground near it. Dawn picked up both Fezandipiti's ball and the mask at the same time. As Dawn held the mask, Leona and Omiyo came jogging up to her. "Ooh, that mask is very pretty," Omiyo commented, "No wonder Ogrepon wants it back."

Dawn handed the mask to Omiyo so that she'd have both hands free to scan Fezandipiti's ball with her Pokédex. "...Huh, it's a boy," Dawn said, "I wasn't exactly expecting it to be male, given how it looks." Dawn then named Fezandipiti as Rocky Rhodes, and let the ball holding him be sent to Oak's lab. Dawn then took the mask back from Omiyo. "Well now, let's go check up on how the others are all doing," Dawn said, "It'd be in bad form if we-"

"Yo Dawn, Leona, Omiyo!" Trip's voice called out, making the girls turn to see Trip fly in with Rhyanna and Carmine, "How did things go here?"

Dawn gave her brother a single nod of acknowledgement. "We just defeated the bird of the Loyal Three, which I got is called Fezandipiti, I caught it, and we got the fiery looking mask," Dawn said, "I was just about to lead Leona and Omiyo here to check on either you guys or Kenny's group."

"We defeated the doggo of the Loyal Three, Trip caught it, and we got some gray stony looking mask," Rhyanna said, "I guess this means we have to go check on Kenny's group."

"Let's just hope they're doing alright," Dawn said before she and the girls with her called back the Pokémon they had out, Dawn called out Tsukune, and she and Leona got onto Tsukune while Omiyo was allowed by Trip to ride on Villetta; unlike with Carmine who was still being carried under Villetta's right arm as if she were a sack of potatoes, Omiyo actually rode on Villetta's back as the named Miraidon actually liked the preteen autistic girl.

With everyone ready, the group flew off to go check on Kenny's group.

Over by the lake in the Wistful Fields, Kenny with Mina and Sho backing him up went in and spotted Munkidori who was running on titan Pokémon mojo. "Methinks that the mochi that the people at Kitakami Hall gave to the Loyal Three had some Herba Mystica mixed in," Kenny said, "There's no other explanation as to why the monkey here is trying to get as big as The Jelly-Filled Donut." Kenny and his group walked up to confront Munkidori as Ogrepon who went with Kenny's group hung back and watched.

"Well let's bring it down already," Sho said, "Go, Raichu!" Sho sent out his Raichu to help with taking down Munkidori.

"Go, Umbreon!" Mina said as she sent out her shiny Umbreon.

"Okay, Black!" Kenny said as he sent out his named Giratina, "Let's make it cringe!" After Black had come out, Kenny called out, "Black, use Shadow Force!"

"Umbreon, use Crunch!" Mina ordered.

"Raichu, use Thunder Wave!" Sho commanded.

The battle kicked off with Black disappearing into the shadows, completely vanishing from the sight of Munkidori. Raichu then struck Munkidori with Thunder Wave, paralyzing it. Umbreon then was able to dash in and bite down on Munkidori with Crunch, scoring super effective damage to the noted surprise of Kenny's group, also Munkidori looked to have suffered the defense drop. After all of that, Munkidori tried using Psychic on Umbreon, but it failed due to Umbreon being a dark type thusly was immune to psychic attacks.

When the second round began, Black appeared and slammed hard into Munkidori, making the mega monkey reel back greatly. Raichu struck it with Thunderbolt, and Umbreon bit down hard with Crunch again, scoring another defense drop. Munkidori was unable to move due to its paralysis deciding to kick in at that moment. Round three saw Black use Shadow Force thus disappearing for a turn, Raichu use Thunderbolt, and Umbreon using Crunch which scored the defense drop on the titan sized Munkidori once again.

Munkidori tried using Sludge Bomb, but it aimed at Black who had vanished, thus the attack ended up missing. At the beginning of round four, Black reappeared and slammed hard into Munkidori, doing enough damage to knock it out and making the mojo that made Munkidori big go away, thus shrinking Munkidori back down to normal. Kenny then threw an Ultra Ball at Munkidori, capturing the monkey member of the Loyal Three.

Kenny walked over to collect the ball holding his newly caught Munkidori, and saw laying near the ball a bluish looking mask. Kenny picked up both Munkidori's ball and the bluish mask. "We have just obtained one of Ogrepon's treasures," Kenny said to Mina and Sho as he showed them the mask he picked up, "We must rendezvous with the others before bringing this treasure back to Ogrepon."

As Mina nodded in agreement, they heard Dawn's group and Trip's group call out to them. Looking up, they saw the other groups fly in. The heroes all landed, with Villetta unceremoniously dropping Carmine on the ground before gently letting Omiyo get off of its back. "How... how did beating the monkey Pokémon of the Lousy Three go?" Carmine asked as she got up and dusted herself off a little bit, still annoyed she was seen by the heroes' Pokémon as a sack of potatoes.

Holding up both the Wellspring Mask and the ball holding his newly caught Munkidori, Kenny said, "My group here and I have not only gotten back one of Ogrepon's masks, but I had also captured the monkey member of the Loyal Three!"

Looking surprised, Carmine said, "Just like how Trip caught the dog, and Dawn caught the bird." Gently shaking her head, Carmine went on, "Well either way, things have worked out in the end, and with those three caught and now under the authority of you guys, I can expect that they will be keeping on their best behavior from here on out."

Folding his arms over his chest, Trip said, "I wouldn't be surprised if Cheems and the others ended up being more well behaved than you."

Carmine was about to speak up, but was cut off when Kieran came running in. "Kenny! Kenny's friends!" Kieran said, getting everyone's attention.

"Hey, you forgot to mention me you little brat," Carmine scoffed.

Kieran flipped Carmine the bird before continuing with what he was saying. "I hope you guys don't mind it if I ask you for a favor," Kieran said.

"What manner of favor be you asking for?" Kenny asked.

"Can you come with me to the village and bring the Ogre with you?" Kieran asked, "You gotta trust me on this one. It'll be safe."

Folding her arms over her chest, Dawn said, "Well... we do technically have the means to tell the villagers the truth of the matter. Kenny, Trip, and I had each caught a different member of the Loyal Three, and we have Ogrepon with us. We can have the Pokémon back up our claims since the story native to Kitakami centers around all of them. Although I'll have to rotate Fezandipiti into my party."

Kieran looked surprised. "Y-You guys actually caught the Loyal Three?!" Kieran said to the heroes, "Wowzers! You guys really are amazing! But then again you're Kenny and his friends."

"If things go south," Carmine said, "I'll use my natural charm to smo-"

*PFFT* Kenny had cut Carmine off by snorting back a laugh. "Sorry, sorry," Kenny apologized, "I tend to laugh when I hear something funny." Carmine scowled a bit, and after that everyone took off for Mossui Town. They all rode on dragon back, aside from Carmine who once more was carried under Villetta's right arm as if she were a sack of potatoes.

Later back in Mossui Town, the heroes after Dawn and Trip rotated in Rocky Rhodes and Cheems (Kenny kept Munkidori in his party) had the villagers all gather so that they, those being the heroes, can tell the villagers the truth of what REALLY happened way back when. The villagers were taken aback in surprise by the lore bomb that was dropped on them. They were also surprised to see not just Ogrepon, but also the Loyal Three who the reborn trainers had bow their heads in apology.

"So that's the Ogre, Ogrepon," said one villager, "It's actually real?"

"Well the Loyal Three are real," said another villager who gestured to the Loyal Three, "So you've got to figure that the Ogre is real as well."

Walking up to get a good look at Ogrepon, the caretaker from the community center said, "So this is the Ogre of Oni Mountain, this is the true face of Ogrepon, whom we've so sorely wronged. For far too long, we've told tales casting you as the villain here in Kitakami..."

"The real villain here in Kitakami lives with Kieran and his grandparents," Kenny muttered under his breath.

To Ogrepon, the caretaker said, "We all owe you so much of an apology."

Ogrepon, who at first was nervous, suddenly perked up and relaxed a bit from its fright. "Hey now, what's the deal with this sudden about-face?" Carmine said to the villagers.

"Kieran has been running around the whole village," Kieran's Grandpa explained as he stepped forward, "Telling everyone the true story of what happened. Also, Kenny and his friends were able to back up what Kieran said by bringing in Ogrepon and the Loyal Three and having them verify what happened. It turns out I was worried about him stirring up trouble for nothing." The villagers then all proceeded to apologize to Ogrepon.

Putting a hand on her hip, Carmine said, "Wow, and here I thought that my shut in anti-social little brother hated talking to people. Who would have ever guessed it that he had it in him?"

Ignoring his older sister, Kieran turned to look at Ogrepon. "From now on, you can come to the village whenever you want. I wouldn't mind it if you and my sister swapped places, you can take her room and she can take the Dreaded Den up on Oni Mountain."

"Excuse me, you little brat?!" Carmine snapped.

"Given your attitude towards your little brother," Kieran's Grandpa said to Carmine, "Him snapping back at you is warranted. Hell, I'd go so far as to say that what he said just now is a bit tame when compared to what all you've done in regards to interacting with him over the years."

"And the proposed swap that Kieran just suggested sounds pretty fair if you ask me," Kenny said, "Especially as the Dreaded Den would be a fitting abode for Carmine." Everyone present then shared in a good round of laughter, aside from Carmine who scowled. Even Kieran's Grandpa, Ogrepon, and the Loyal Three all joined in on the laughter at Carmine's expense, given that with all due respect she is the absolute worst.

After the celebrating, the reborn trainers (after rotating their parties again) with Carmine and Kieran escorted Ogrepon back to the Dreaded Den; the other members of the crew of The Jelly-Filled Donut had to hang back to help with managing things. "Well, here we are," Kenny said as he gestured to the Dreaded Den, "Carmine's new place of residence."

"It's Ogrepon's place of residence, you idiot," Carmine scowled as she dusted herself off because she was carried under Villetta's right arm as if she were a sack of potatoes again and then dropped on the ground when everyone arrived.

As Ogrepon ran up to the entrance of the Dreaded Den, Kenny said, "This place probably gets lonely, but it probably means a lot to Ogrepon." Looking to Ogrepon, Kenny said, "You take care now, okay Ogrepon?" Hearing Kenny speak up, Ogrepon turned to look at Kenny. It stared at him for a moment before it randomly ran right up to him and jumped up and down while crying out excitedly.

"Hey, well what do you know," Carmine said, "It looks like Ogrepon wants to go with Kenny." Ogrepon cried out in a tone of agreement, making it clear that it was saying that Carmine got it right. It was probably the only time Ogrepon agreed with Carmine.

As Kenny and the reborn trainers cheered, Kieran said, "Hey, hold up!" Everyone turned to look at Kieran, curious as to what he's thinking. "...If it's not gonna stay here," Kieran said, "Then I... I..." As all eyes were on him, Kieran exclaimed, "...I want Ogrepon to come with me!"

"Hey Kieran," Carmine scowled, "Why are you being so selfish, you damn brat?"

Sharply turning to eye his older sister, Kieran snarled back, "I guess that I had learned such behavior from the people that I grew up with. Well, one of said people, anyway." Turning back to look at Kenny, Kieran went on, "Let me battle you, Kenny! I want to see which one of us should get to keep Ogrepon with them!"

"You aren't being all that respectful, Kieran," Carmine scowled in a firm tone, "You have to think about Ogrepon's feelings here."

"Did you think about MY feelings when you forced me into that battle to determine if I had to release the Furret that I used to own?" Kieran snapped back at Carmine, "Then when I won that battle you made me give up my Furret anyway?" The reborn trainers all turned sharp glares at Carmine.

"Did you think about my feelings on any of the occasions when you made me do whatever you wanted me to do?" Kieran said as he clearly was about to go on a tangent, "Did you think about my feelings whenever you forcefully did things for me at Blueberry Academy? Did you think about my feelings when you made me hang out with your friend group at Blueberry Academy, never allowing me to pick and choose my OWN friends?"

Taking a half step forward, Kieran snapped, "Do you ever think about what I want to do, as opposed to what you want me to do?! Am I nothing more to you than someone for you to boss around when you wish, how you wish, as you wish?! Am I nothing more than an obedient robotic punching bag?!"

"Shut the hell up right now or I WILL use you as a literal punching bag, you damn disrespectful little brat!" Carmine bellowed, "I will not tolerate this sort of attitude out of you! You will address me with nothing but the absolute unconditional respect that I am owed by right! Do I make myself clear?!"

Everyone went silent for a moment out of shock, but Kieran settled down after he assessed what he had just gotten as an answer. "...I'll choose to take that as a yes." The reborn trainers were actually rather heartbroken by how terribly dysfunctional the sibling bond between Kieran and Carmine had become. But that was put aside for the moment. Turning to look at Kenny, Kieran said, "So are we going to battle to see who will become Ogrepon's trainer or not?"

Still unsure due to how bad things are between Kieran and Carmine, Kenny said, "...Yeah. I need a serious change of atmosphere here. Maybe a battle will be the remedy I seek." The two boys got into position, and in time the battle began. "Okay, Black! Let's make it cringe!" Kenny said as he sent out his named Giratina.

"Go, Shiftry!" Kieran called out as he sent in a Shiftry, "Use Dark Pulse!"

"Black, counter with Iron Head!" Kenny commanded. The Dark Pulse flew at Black, but it was busted away by Black's head which shone like polished metal, with said shining head going on to ram right into Shiftry, knocking it out.

Kieran recalled his fainted Shiftry and tossed up another ball while saying, "Go, Poliwrath!"

"Black that's enough, come back," Kenny said as he swapped his Pokémon around, "Okay, Hizashi! Let's make it cringe!" Coming out in place of Black was Hizashi, Kenny's named Scream Tail.

"Poliwrath, use Liquidation!" Kieran called out.

"Hizashi, use Psychic!" Kenny ordered. As Poliwrath tried rushing Hizashi, the named Scream Tail blasted Poliwrath with a telekentic blast of psychic energy, paining Poliwrath greatly and knocking it out of the battle.

Kieran recalled his fainted Poliwrath and sent out a Probopass. Kenny called Hizashi back and sent out Azhdaha, his named Iron Boulder. "Probopass, use Body Press!" Kieran called out.

"Azhdaha, use Sacred Sword!" Kenny commanded.

Azhdaha conjured a blade of fighting energy and slashed Probopass with it, doing so much damage that the only reason Probopass didn't faint from it was due to having the Sturdy ability, allowing it to hit Azhdaha with Body Press. But the next Sacred Sword from the named Iron Boulder ended up as the hit that took Probopass out.

Kieran recalled Probopass and sent out his Gliscor, to which Kenny called Azhdaha back and sent out Mechazilla, his named Iron Thorns. "Gliscor, use X-Scissor!" Kieran ordered.

"Mechazilla, use Ice Punch!" Kenny commanded. The two Pokémon rushed one another, but Mechazilla was able to swing in its Ice Punch in just a shade faster than Gliscor was able to land X-Scissor. As a result, Gliscor ended up going down in battle.

Kieran recalled Gliscor and sent out his Yanmega. "Use Air Slash!" Kieran called out.

"Mechazilla, use Rock Tomb!" Kenny ordered. As Yanmega tried whipping up its Air Slash attack, Mechazilla made large rocks fall down over and around it, slamming it hard down to the ground and knocking it out.

Kieran recalled his fainted Yanmega and tossed up the ball that was containing his last Pokémon. "Go, Dipplin!" After his Dipplin came out, Kieran said, "Dipplin, use Double Hit!"

"Mechazilla, use Ice Punch!" Kenny called out. The two Pokémon rushed one another, with the named Iron Thorns slugging Dipplin with Ice Punch before it was able to hit back with Double Hit. As a result, Dipplin was knocked out, and as Dipplin was Kieran's last Pokémon, that meant that the winner of the battle was Kenny.

Kieran, looking shocked, merely turned his head to the side after recalling Dipplin, not wanting to have Kenny see his face at the moment. "...Figures," Kieran muttered, just loud enough for everyone to hear him, "I knew that I couldn't win, but I still couldn't give up."

Scoffing indifferently, Carmine said, "Well you bit off more than you can chew, Kieran. Now get the hell out of the way so Kenny can capture Ogrepon." Despite everyone else present, even Ogrepon, being concerned for Kieran, Kieran's own older sister held no such sympathy for him. This made the reborn trainers and Ogrepon all turn to look at Carmine with looks of utter contempt.

"...A deal is a deal," Kieran said as he turned to look at Kenny, "And unlike my sister, I honor deals that I make with others." Kieran moved to stand off to the side of the area, keeping clear of everyone else who stood on the other side of where Kenny was going to prove himself to Ogrepon.

Pointing to the ground right next to where she was standing, Carmine snapped, "Get your sorry little butt over here right this instant, Kieran!"

"You never said where I had to stand when I got out of Kenny's way," Kieran scoffed, his despair over failing to win against Kenny for the right to catch Ogrepon being suppressed by his now rising anger and lack of willingness to put up with his older sister's treatment of him. Giving his older sister a hard glare, Kieran said, "And I'm not exactly in the mood to stand next to you. I think I'll be keeping as much distance from you as possibe."

"YOU ARE NOT GOING TO LEAVE ME ALONE!" Carmine screamed, looking freaked and panicking at the thought of her younger brother leaving her by her lonesome.

"It's just for this battle, sheesh," Trip said, "No need to be a friggin' Exploud, Carmine."

Kenny made the shooing gesture to get the others to back off and give him some space to battle Ogrepon. When both parties were in position, Ogrepon put on the Hearthflame Mask, and its leafy arms became red and yellow. "Okay, Black," Kenny said as he sent out his named Giratina (he had previously recalled Mechazilla), "Let's make it cringe!"

After Black came out, everyone saw it as Ogrepon began to Terastallize, but after the process was done everyone saw that it was more or less just its mask that transformed, getting far bigger. "It can Terastallize its mask?" Dawn said, sounding surprised.

"Well there's no need to worry about that, for my Pokémon and I run on the twin powers of cringe and moxie!" Kenny said, "Black, use Dragon Claw!" The named Giratina slashed at Ogrepon with claws glowing fiercely with dragonic power. After it recovered from reeling back from that attack, Ogrepon used Slam on Black. But Black, who is part ghost type, was unaffected.

"Use Shadow Force!" Kenny commanded. Black then disappeared into the shadows, vanishing before Ogrepon jumped up and struck out hard with a conjured spiked club that looked to be made of thorny vines. Black then reappeared and slammed hard into Ogrepon, busting its Terastallization. Ogrepon swayed for a bit, then it suddenly perked back up, as if granted strength by memories of the adventure it had with Kenny and the others.

Ogrepon then put on its Wellspring Mask, its arms became bluish, and then it Terastallized like it did the last time, only this time it wore a giant blue mask. Ogrepon then tried to use Low Sweep on Black, but much like with the normal type move Slam, the fighting type move Low Sweep had done nothing to the partial ghost type named Giratina.

Pointing forward, Kenny said, "Black, use Dragon Claw!" Black hacked at Ogrepon again, this time looking to have scored a critical hit. Ogrepon wasn't giving up yet, and it lashed out with Slam, but it failed again. Another call of Dragon Claw from Kenny, and the second Terastallization of Ogrepon had been defeated.

As it swayed around, Ogrepon was spurred on, being granted strength by memories of working with Kenny and the others to get its masks back. Perking back up, Ogrepon put on its Cornerstone Mask, its arms becoming gray and black, and a third Terastallization activated, giving Ogrepon a giant rocky mask this time. Ogrepon opened the third round by setting up Grassy Terrain, drawing a bit of surprise out of the humans.

Gesturing forward, Kenny called out, "Black, use Iron Head!" Black rushed forward, its head shining like polished metal, and slammed it hard into Ogrepon, doing super effective damage. Ogrepon tried using Slam yet again, failing due to Black's partial ghost typing. Another call of Iron Head from Kenny saw to the named Giratina defeating Ogrepon's third Terastallization, making it reel back and sway around a bit.

But Ogrepon perked back up, being granted strength by memories of a partner from long, long ago. It then put on the Teal Mask, its arms turning back to green, and the fourth Terastallization turned on, giving Ogrepon a giant green mask. Ogrepon then tried using Grassy Terrain, but the first one it had set up was still active.

"Black, use Dragon Claw!" Kenny ordered, making Black slash at Ogrepon with claws glowing fiercely with dragonic power. Ogrepon wasn't done yet, so it tried lashing out with Low Sweep, once again failing due to Black's partial ghost typing making it immune to fighting (and normal) attacks. "Black, use Shadow Force!" Kenny commanded, prompting Black to disappear into the shadows.

Ogrepon then tried to strike with its attack that was a conjured spiked club that looked to be made of vines, but it missed as there was no visible target. Black then reappeared and slammed hard into Ogrepon, defeating its final Terastallization. "W-Wowzers, Kenny," Kieran said, surprised that Kenny had won four matches against Ogrepon in a row back to back without rest, "You really are good. I'm no match, that's for sure."

"That looks to be everything that Ogrepon had in its tank!" Carmine said, "Now is the perfect time to catch it!"

Turning to look where Ogrepon was swaying around in defeat, Kenny took out an Ultra Ball, expanded it, and threw it at Ogrepon while calling out, "Go, Ultra Ball!" The ball then bumped into Ogrepon, took it inside, fell to the ground with a light clink, and shook for a bit before making a ping sound, indicating that Kenny caught Ogrepon. Kenny was then also able to collect the Hearthflame, Cornerstone, and Wellspring Masks.

After Kenny got the masks, he held the ball containing Ogrepon as the others came up to him. "Well done, Kenny," Carmine said, "Unlike Kieran who can't do anything without me, you're able to do quite well on your own. Very impressive."

Kieran scowled bitterly. "...It's not that I can't, it's that I'm not allowed to."

Everyone turned to look at Kieran, who was looking very unamused, his glare aimed right at his older sister. "What are you on about now, Kieran?" Carmine began, getting annoyed and defensive in her tone towards her younger brother, "Of course you need me. Why else do you think-"

"-That I really AM nothing more than someone for you to boss, bully, and push around," Kieran cut her off, "Your earlier trying to order me next to you just goes to prove you really won't let me be my own person, won't let me do things by myself, won't let me be by myself."

"Hey now," Carmine began, sounding a mix of defensive and mildly panicking instead of defensive and annoyed, "Let's not go and say things we might regret, alright?" Dawn was able to pick it up that Carmine's hint of panic was brought about by Kieran saying he wanted to be by himself.

Kieran looked at his older sister with nothing but bitter contempt in his eyes. "...I'm not sure if you've realized it yet, but you've said a lot of things since Kenny and his friends got to Kitakami that you're regretting. Or at least you should be regretting saying those things if you were a normal person as opposed to a cruel bully who cares not for the thoughts, feelings, and wills of others." Then, before he could be stopped, Kieran took off from the Dreaded Den.

"Kieran, come back!" Carmine called out, but was stopped from going after him by the reborn trainers.

"Dude, let him go," Mina said, "Kieran obviously needs some personal space right now, especially away from you."

"No, he can't," Carmine said, the tone of panic returning to her voice, "He can't be away from me!" Carmine tried to go after Kieran again, but was stopped by Diablo who Dawn called out and told to restrain Carmine.

"Carmine, your little brother is obviously dealing with some serious baggage right now," Dawn said firmly, "Baggage that, regardless of if you want to acknowledge it or not, is greatly due to you and the way you've interacted with him! Kieran obviously wants to be alone now, especially away from you! Just give him time to himself for crying out loud!"

Carmine tried struggling to get away and go after Kieran, but Trip called Villetta back out and had it pick up Carmine, carrying her under its right arm as if she were a sack of potatoes. The reborn trainers then called out the necessary dragons (Black was still out), got on, and flew on down to Mossui Town. There, they dropped Carmine off at her family's home while stressing it to her and Kieran's grandparents that Kieran isn't doing well and needs to be left alone when he gets home.

The grandparents, with Kieran's Grandpa casting a somewhat suspicious look to Carmine, both agreed and said they'll make sure Kieran gets the personal space he needs when he gets back home. With that taken care of, the reborn trainers took off for The Jelly-Filled Donut. They've had a tiring day, and resting for the night on the flying ship with a powerful name sounds like it was just what the doctor ordered.

The following morning, the crew of The Jelly-Filled Donut was having breakfast. "There's still a few species of Pokémon exclusive to Kitakami that Dawn, Kenny, and I have to track down," Trip said, "But as soon as we get them, our official business with Kitakami will be done."

"We also have to root out what bits of Team Scorn are here," Kenny said, "Because they only did the one act during the opening night of the Festival of Masks, so-"

"Oi, Kenny!"

Kenny was cut off when he and the others heard the faint shout of Rimu from outside of the flying ship. The reborn trainers all got up and ran out onto the deck, looked over the railing, and saw Rimu standing there with Penny, Arven, and Nemona. "Ah, Rimu my worthy adversary," Kenny greeted, "Is there something you need?"

Arching a wry eyebrow, Penny called up, "Kieran's bitch of an older sister says she wants you and your friends to meet her over at Loyalty Plaza, and that she also wants you to hurry up and not keep her waiting."

The reborn trainers all looked unamused at the fact that Carmine was calling for them. "And what exactly does her royal highness want with us now?" Kenny asked.

"No clue," Rimu called up, "But if I were you, I'd bring along that girl in your crew that Kieran told me has beaten his older sister in Pokémon battles a few times." Rimu and his group then took off.

After Rimu's group was gone, Dawn said, "Yeah, sounds like we may need to bring along Rhyanna at the very least. We'll at least let her and the others finish eating. I wanna finish eating too." With that, the reborn trainers went back into The Jelly-Filled Donut to finish breakfast before taking off to go to Loyalty Plaza to see what the hell Carmine wants with them.

END, CHAPTER THREE-HUNDRED AND FIVE

Author's notes;

This chapter takes care of most of what happens at the tail end of the Teal Mask story, adjusting things to streamline the story as a whole such as seeing the Loyal Three caught after they're beaten out of their titan sizes. It also sees Kenny catch Ogrepon, as well as show more of the dysfunction between Kieran and Carmine, and hint at more of why Carmine is as bad as she is here.

Speaking of, Carmine calls for the reborn trainers to come meet her over at Loyalty Plaza, and they are advised to bring Rhyanna along at least. The Kitakami mini-arc is about to come to a close real soon, but there's still a bit more to cover. Until then, take care.
