"Do you remember what I told you?" Johan sighed, pushing her mask up and readjusting her latex gloves as Courrier asked. She's currently in a brightly lit basement area underneath some Good Samaritan's house, standing in between two really long tables, used as a substitute for an operating table, with one housing her boss Courrier while the other was of some random black-haired dead Mistrali(?) woman that he asked her to fetch, apparently she was already dead and that he just needed her to drag the body here. The woman had two gunshot wounds at the top of her forehead, just above her right eye.
The wounds looked pretty recent, despite the fact that the woman's body was already cold when he told her to fetch the body.
"Yes, I heard it the first time…" she quickly strapped him down to the table, feeling the distinct, and frankly terrifying, weight of the block of explosives that Courrier had attached to her back, "If I ever try to intentionally sabotage this operation then I'll be blown to pieces and my legacy will be demonized as the 'woman that killed Vacuo's greatest leader'."
"Good, I trust you but not to the extent that I'll let you operate on me without some form of safeguard," Johan rolled her eyes, "Oh, and if I were to 'die' then you'll be dead and I won't, so that's that."
"What's that supposed to mean? That… that doesn't make any sense."
"Did I tell you to talk shit?" she sighed, Courrier looked just as tired as she was, "Just… get on with it already," Johan grabbed the scalpel off a small table before standing over Courrier, "Let me just…" several hissing sounds can be heard before Courrier groaned out either in relief or pain, "Just… just give it a moment, you can start when I pass out."
Johan stood waiting until Courrier stopped moving. Commencing operation, deconstructing a human person is like deconstructing a car right? Just imagine it like an engine swap… where you have to remove the front bumper (the skin)… then you take the hood (the ribcage) off… then you pulled out all the important bits and then you put them in a new frame! Easy as pie…
But enough with the hypotheticals, it's time to do it for real…
All she needed to do was cut open Courrier's chest cavity to pull out all the hearts, lungs, kidneys, livers, both types of intestines, spine, and whatever other metallic, artificial bits before shoving them into the woman's body. Using a handsaw to saw off his ribs, Johan lifted the piece of bone before dropping it into the designated bucket of disposable bones.
She gagged a bit at all the blood, eugh, and this was just the first part too… Surprisingly, the artificial organs are surprisingly easy to assemble! Johan consulted the manual that Courrier gave her that went over every step of the operation. Apparently, once she placed all the correct organs in place, she'll need to inject him with a 'Stimpak' and wait for the process to finish. If after a few hours and he didn't wake up then inject him with something known as a 'Super Stimpak' next.
…The fact that he has this manual must mean that Courrier's been going around body snatching people for a while.
The dead woman's body was already hollowed out with her spine missing too; Courrier must've done this to save Johan the time, how nice of him to do that. She placed the artificial organs on a separate table, since they're not made out of squishy flesh and aren't as delicate, she can just leave them out without much problem. Moving onto the head, she started at the middle of the forehead and sawed around, separating his scalp before lifting the thing off of his head.
The skull came off with the scalp too, good thing she timed it right or else the saw would've hit the metal brain, causing it to break, and causing her to explode into nothing. Johan sweat-dropped, no risk of infection since Courrier said so; the bomb attached to her back now feels awfully heavy as she lifted the brain out of the body. Surprisingly, the spine and the brain are extremely modular with all the other bones; she can just link them together with the organic stuff like playing blocks.
The brain detached from the skull with a satisfying click as she placed it on a separate table, this one is special, more important than all the other miscellaneous organs… okay maybe except the heart and liver and lung but the brain was more important! Johan grabbed the spine, much like the brain, it also detached from the pelvis and the rib bones and the skull with a satisfying click.
Hehe, these things are kinda fun to play around with… Johan shook her head, no time to mess around! She has to do this right or else she'll be a pile of dust on the ground! Thankfully, Courrier hollowed the woman's body, and by hollow out, he meant it as the woman's body was missing a spine and her head was also sawed open ahead of time. Johan wondered though, where did he put all the previous organs?
…Wait, how the hell is this going to work? He hollowed out the woman's body like… completely! How is he going to function without blood vessels or veins or nerves? Do the organs and spine just connect automatically? Johan doubted that, but then again, if she doesn't do this, then she'd die anyways. That bomb feels really heavy on her back now, always reminding her of her impending doom if she ever were to fuck up on this surgery.
Flipping over to another page on the manual, Johan mulled over the words before commencing the second stage; putting the organs into the new body.
Much like most of her life in the White Fang, Johan immediately blotted out all the unpleasant things she saw while putting the organs into Courrier's new body. The squelching, the occasional speck of blood since Courrier didn't drain the body, he just hollowed them out, the weird texture of the flesh inside, wet, and strangely rubbery. It was gross, not like engine swapping a car at all…
The organ swap was straightforward, put them in the right position as shown on the manual and then close the torso up, the spine goes first of course, gotta make sure it goes through the neck and reaches the skull… this was the hard part, finagling the spine into place completely blind while she pushed it up the neck and towards the skull. After hearing that click, Johan quickly pulled her arm out of the woman's neck, that will be the first and the last time she'll ever shove her hands down someone's throat.
Grabbing the spare ribcage that Courrier handed her earlier, seriously, where did he get all of these things?! She placed it over the artificial organs, looks like it's designed the same way as the spine and brain, seeing as how it also clicked into place when positioned right. Checking the manual again, she closed up the torso before moving onto the head, this one was much more straightforward, just put the brain in, make sure it clicks, and then close up the head.
Placing the woman's scalp back on her head, Johan didn't bother stitching it up as she jammed a 'Stimpak' into Courrier's arm, being sure to aim it at where a blood vessel is supposed to be, just in case… Johan sighed out in relief, but also in nervousness as she collapsed onto a chair. It now all depends on Courrier waking up… if he wakes up then the bomb wouldn't go off, killing her and whoever is unfortunate enough to be close to the house they're borrowing.
Johan sat there waiting for about two hours, when Courrier didn't wake up; she quickly used the 'Super Stimpak' on him and waited for another hour. The woman's body's eye then opened suddenly before she sat up on the table. The scars around her forehead and the scars lining her torso disappeared she breathed out slowly, "Yo, grab the wrist-Scroll from my previous body," female Courrier said, Johan obliged, pulling the wrist-Scroll off of Courrier's previous body and handing it over to… him? Her? "Thanks, good thing I disabled the biometric lock before this…" Courrier wrapped the wrist-Scroll around her wrist.
Johan blinked and suddenly the woman was completely dressed in a blood-stained white t-shirt and a pair of khaki cargo pants, "Much better," Courrier pushed herself off the table and stretched, testing out the mobility on her body, "Good work Johan."
"Phew," she breathed out in relief as Courrier detached the bomb from her back, "Why'd you pick me in the first place? I don't have any medical experience y'know…"
"Oh I know, that's why I gave you the manual," she laughed, "Fortunately for you, I'm not like a normal human, since what you did would kill a person otherwise."
"That's real assuring…"
"Seeing as how I'm in a new body, I'll probably need a new name too…" Courrier rubbed her chin, "How about… Corrina…"
"Or you could just change your first name."
"Ah right, thanks," Courrier chuckled, "Corrina Courrier, perfect! I can now obtain Remnant's most powerful woman-exclusive power! Simply by becoming a woman myself!"
Johan sighed as Courrier cackled evilly, honestly, she couldn't care less, "I'm gonna go back to bed now," she stood up, cleaning up the tables and grabbing the bone bucket, "Was the bomb really necessary?"
"Yes."
"Oh…"
"Uh huh, I don't trust people easily," Courrier smirked, "Get some rest, we're heading to Anima first thing in the morning," she then grinned, "I can't wait to get my hands on some magical powers…"
Johan was already long gone by then.
Cinder stared down at her palms, it seems like her innate Semblance had melded with the Fall Maiden's powers, giving her more powerful flames as a result. Salem was watching, several Grimm were ahead of her, circling her, she snarled. Before the Beowolves can react, she slashed her hand across the air, sending a wall of flame towards the creatures, disintegrating them instantly and singing the Beringel's hidden wings.
The thing then jumped at Cinder, she gritted her teeth before her body bursts into flames, sending out a shockwave of pure heat as the Beringel was converted into ash and cinder. Salem raised one of her eyebrows imperceptibly; Cinder didn't notice that though, more occupied with the fire dancing across her skin.
Cracks began forming on the ground as an orange glow peeked out, Cinder quickly extinguished her flame, the orange glow disappearing as she breathed out heavily, "Interesting," Salem spoke up, her voice a commanding presence, Cinder fell to her knees, facing Salem with her head held down in respect, "Now where have this power came from hmm?" Salem approached her, "You are still unstable, your powers unrefined, why must you be so… feral?"
"A raging fire means nothing to me, a controlled one does," Cinder grimaced, "Be better. Do better."
"Yes my queen."
Salem huffed before Tyrian pushed open the door and stumbled into the room, his face haggard, his body hunched, and his entire body language spells pathetic. He approached Salem before falling to his knees, dropping his head onto the floor, "I'm sorry," he breathed out, slowly, "I'm sorry… I failed… I failed you…"
Salem sneered, Tyrian quickly amended this, "B-but all is not lost!" his stinger waved around in the air, "I've poisoned him! Qrow! My stinger went straight through his body!" Cinder glanced at the stinger, which had a large hole in it, "He- he will die! He will be a nuisance to you no longer! Please!"
She walked away, "You disappoint me." Tyrian's eyes widened, Cinder winced as she heard the heavy door slam close.
"Damn it… damn it damn it damn it!" Tyrian slammed his fist on the ground, cracking the floor, Cinder sneered, this… man-child was throwing a tantrum.
A Beowolf slowly approached Tyrian, completely ignoring Cinder as it focused on his negative emotions. Before Tyrian could kill the Beowolf, Cinder shot out a bolt of fire, which flew straight through the Beowolf, causing it to burst into flames and dissipate.
"Y- You! YOU!" Tyrian jumped at Cinder, his claws brandished as his tail swung around with the tip of the stinger pointed directly at her, Cinder glared at Tyrian, jumping back as the stinger stabbed itself into the ground, "Have I not suffer humiliation enough?! You- YOU DARE TAKE AWAY MY-" "SHUT IT!"
Cinder yelled back, "I will not stand by passively while something like… YOU kick and scream on the ground like some child!" her arm bursted into flames, she crouched down into a combat stance as Tyrian readied himself too, "You want to earn her favour back?! Prove to me that you're not some bitch!"
"I don't have to prove anything to you!" Tyrian snarled, tears streaming down his cheek, "I won't kill you… that'll upset her majesty," he laughed, wiping away the tears, "I'll just make you suffer as much as possible instead!"
The Courier's a woman now, why? To get the Maiden powers of course! After all, he's the smartest man in a five-millimetre radius around himself.
But simply imagine... a maiden with silver eyes? Crazy.
I wonder... do Maiden powers stack? Can you become a 4 Seasons Maiden by absorbing all the other ones?
Technically, the Courier is not the body that he inhabits but rather the collection of artificial organs inside of him. He was originally a man but after realizing that he can swap his body parts out like a lego minifigure... the possibilities opened up...
