Figuring out how to get out of there would be difficult. More so than Itachi originally planned. Especially since the enemy knew his care for Kakashi would make things hard. He looked at the cuffs on his wrists and then back at Nagato wondering if the man was really helping the Hyuga or not. He always said the goal was world peace but he also was willing to kill anyone to get that so it was a little worried one that he'd allowed the Hyuga gl think they controlled him and his group. Or was that the point? Thinking back a bit, it made sense. When Kakashi first disappeared, it was Nagato's doing wasn't it? And then the Hyuga worked with Hiruzen and urged Sakumo to attack. They were all being played. With the great families weakened and out of the way there wouldn't be anyone to truly oppose Nagato and his group. They could go as they wished and 'cleanse' the world as the redhead said it. He looked carefully at the man and frowned.
"You've been quiet, Itachi. Have you finally stopped thinking about that silver haired prince and thought clearly?" Nagato asked as he turned to look at the Uchiha. "Without him around you used to be so level headed and think much faster. Seems he's filled your mind. All for the better I think. If he hadn't you would have been much more prepared for other things."
"You're going to kill them after this. Whoever wins this war you are going to kill them and take power yourself." Itachi said slowly as he looked at him. That made quite a bit of sense now that he had the whole picture. "Very good planning then."
"We will know if everything works as it should after this. But I do need your families out of the way. And if you truly have no idea where they are, you're of little use to us." Nagato explained as he turned and gently lifted Itachi's chin so he was looking up. "I can pass the time with you since the Hyuga are planning things while Kakuzu takes care of that."
"What?" Itachi asked as he looked up at the other. Who was going and looking for their families? Who else did Kakuzu have working for him? He frowned in thought until his fingers started to break. "So...you're going ahead with your torture even though it will do no good?"
"As I said, passing the time," Nagato replies as he waved his fingers and several more fingers cracked and moved.
Itachi remained emotionless, not letting the other have that satisfaction. "You will have to do much better than that to get an emotional response from me Nagato. You know that."
"Then I will undoubtedly try harder," Nagato replied as he moved his fingers a bit more, causing Itachi's whole hand to turn at an awkward angle. The resounding crack let them both know it was broken but the raven still did not flinch.
"Your resolve is strong. I suppose I will simply have to get Kakuzu to come and...enjoy himself. Your partner is very easily swayed into enjoying things," Nagato said with a small smirk. That made Itachi's frown deepen as he thought about Kakashi. What had they done to him? Especially Kakuzu. He likely infected Kakashi with some sort of venom.
"Leave him out of this. You are just amusing yourself so leave him alone," the prince growled as he tried to keep himself calm.
"Eventually he will be disposed of as will you Itachi. You should simply expect it. Be happy that he is alive for the moment, as you are," the redhead replied shaking his head. "Or perhaps you will simply be of use as a figurehead for my plans….perhaps that will work better."
"If you think I will go along with anything you are planning, you are sorely mistaken Nagato," Itachi replied with a deep frown. If the other was really going to try and use him, then he was likely going to find other royals that would cooperate. That wouldn't be good at all. For a moment, he glared at the other until his hand was being bent more. That made the prince groan before he was shaking his head. What was he going to do? "So...you will take the young royals who will cooperate with your plans and use them to further your ideals or you'll take everything they love before killing them. That's why you're doing this. Use the Hyuga to wipe out or weaken the others so you can control them. "I applaud you on thinking ahead then."
"Very good. Once you're free from distractions Itachi, you truly think more easily. Too bad you decided to find someone to be attached to. Aside from family that is. But I must thank you for doing so as well. It makes things much easier," he said as he moved his fingers again. This time one of Itachi's legs started to move and twist until it popped and stuck at an angle. Likely dislocated then. "You will get used to this soon. Welcome to your new life Itachi."
The torture went on for hours. Or so it seemed before Nagato left him. He had thought that he was unconscious of course or he wouldn't have been left alone yet. Once he was sure that Nagato was gone, Itachi looked up quietly and frowned as he tried to figure a way out. When he heard the door open again, the prince frowned and dropped his head again. There were two sets of footsteps this time. He didn't look up until he felt a soft hand touch his chin, moving his face to examine it.
"He seems to be unconscious. It's better to set everything now," a gentle, female voice said. Itachi barely peeked an eye barely open to see the older princess of the Hyuga. Hinata was her name, correct. And the man was her cousin. Neji. "Oh….you're awake. I apologize but we don't have anything to help with the pain. I...I'm afraid that I am not very good with medical magic either only. I can only fix minor injuries."
"That is not a problem. You two...you have to get out of here. Nagato is going to kill your father and take the kingdom with you as queen. He'll hold you hostage and control you to achieve his goals. You must leave," Itachi said quickly.
"We cannot. They will kill Hanabi if we leave. As much as she is a pain, Hanabi does not understand this situation," Neji explained as he stepped forward to help set the older man's broken bones. "He really is awful isn't he? Your bones will take a long time to heal if we cannot find a medic to attend to you."
"I doubt Hiashi would allow that since I am simply a prisoner, but I appreciate your efforts. You two….get Kakashi out if possible. I will figure out how to escape on my own. Do not worry about me. Just get him out, please," Itachi said with a soft sigh. He could get out himself but Kakashi needed help getting away from Kakuzu. "Please, just get him out?"
"We will do our best," Hinata promised as she carefully undid the cuffs around his hands and feet. "We are going to set your bones now. It may hurt."
"Just do it," Itachi mumbled as he looked at the ceiling. As they set each bone, the prince barely moved. He grunted occasionally but otherwise stayed quiet. "You two are risking your lives for me. Why?"
"We have been ordered to keep the captives in good health for….later use. But we will try to help in any way we can," Neji replies as he bandages a leg.
"Thank you," Itachi mumbled before he looked up at the ceiling and closed his eyes. It was best to rest while he could.
