Series 2 Episode 3: Crushed - 27:36

Cam POV

"Night. Sleep well." I watched as Lily went off to bed, then turned to Tracy. She was still watching the TV, though I could see the tiredness in her eyes.

I turned off the TV as the credits finished. "Why don't you go off to bed too? You've had a long day."

"Yeah, I think I might." She went to get up.

"Hang on, Tracy, just a minute."

She sat back down and looked at me.

"I just wanted to say, I'm sorry too."

"What for?"

"For not noticing what was wrong. I should have been there for you."

She gave me a smile. "It's ok. I could have said something sooner."

I put my hand over hers. "It's ok if you need some time to adjust. But remember, just because Lily's here, it doesn't mean I love you any less, ok? I'm still your mum, and I always will be."

She squeezed my hand back, then gave me a smile. I could see some calm in her eyes that hadn't been there earlier, replacing the worry and sadness when she'd been telling Lily that it had always been just me and her.

"Are you sure you're ok about quitting your job? It was all very sudden."

"Yes, I'm sure." She smiled. "I actually met some of the kids out at the restaurant! I'd been doing some thinking after Carmen said something to me, and then seeing them just made me sure of what I wanted to do."

I gave her a smile.

"I need to spend more time here. I know I need to make an effort with Lily. I'm going to try to be better."

"And I'm going to make more time for you too. I know I've been distracted by Lily, it's been a big change. But I'm here if you need me, yeah?"

Tracy smiled, giving my hand another squeeze. Then she yawned.

"Go on, off to bed. I'll see you in the morning."

She stood up. "Night."

I watched after her as she left. I was glad she'd finally told us what was up, and I hoped that everything would go back to normal soon. It certainly was a new dynamic with Lily being here, but I was sure we'd all learn to get along.

I was sure that soon enough we'd all be one big happy family.
