She'll try Njistar, oh how she will try
Six months, Six months I was able to train my monsters to a fraction of their power, analytic reports for the heroes that were a part of UA, that just so happened to also operate a hero agency. The heroes within the Agency part of UA being most of the teachers, with some exceptions being a few Spotlight heroes that had their own agencies. That being Present Mic and Power Loader. The requests were numerous but enjoyable, thankfully I got to avoid the entrance exam. Or at least the mainstream version. Nezu presented me with a new training area. An enclosed forest filled with obstacles and robots for me to run and train in. The training area became a quick favorite place for me and my monsters. Especially on the nights of the Full Moon, when I would bring all of my monsters out to train.
Now it was the first day of school. How strange it would be. Nezu of course had begun our studies almost immediately after our agreed upon start date. Making me an office next to his to use for my analysis though I could keep my work anywhere on the campus, as long as it was on campus. Putting my hair up in a pony tail I looked at the mirror and already wanted to change into my trainer clothes. The button down shirt with blouse over top, the short skirt felt rather exposing. Thankfully I was able to shift to slacks and keep my trainer boots.
"So, the beginning of a new journey," Rotom was hovering over my trainer bag, thankfully that too doubled as a backpack so I could just bring it along.
"I miss home," I struggled with the tie, such things were extremely formal back home, and largely avoided with trainers with the fact they could be grabbed, and a choking hazard. Even Lance with his cloak had a release clip, a certain amount of pressure and the clasp would break to avoid causing harm. Eventually I made due with just a badly tied tie and grabbed my bag.
"You'll be able to return," Rotom chirped, dancing around me. The phone was pretty much his preferred environment when we were not working. "One day, you just need to figure out what the Legendaries need you to do here first."
"After I figure out how to open the damned puzzle box," Turning to look at an intricately decorated chest made of crystal and marble. The thing obviously held something but I could not access it, but not for a lack of trying. Rotom started to buzz a little.
"Nezu asks that we see him at our earliest convenience." Rotom informed me of the message that he received.
"Well, let's go see the boss," I moved over to the couch, grabbing my bag, wrist computer, and making my way out of the staff accommodations. Nezu had been kind enough to keep me separated from the teachers, and while I had seen them every so often I more often saw strangers on my walks into town than I did the heroes. Rotom hovered by my side as I walked on. Working on getting the wrist computer situated before pulling my sleeve over it. My pokeball belt is attached to my uniform yet the spots are empty for later filling.
Coming out of the apartment building, I came to a sight… of a large soft looking yellow kakuna was being dragged out of one of the apartments by a civilian dressed Present Mic. Ah, Nezu talked about this, Eraserhead, a night time hero did not like mornings, very understandable.
"Come on Sho, we got to go to work now, oh," He perked up as he noticed me. "Hello Little Listener," He dropped the Kakuna who groaned before sitting up, seeing a dark haired man who looked like he got nowhere near enough sleep.
"Hello, Present Mic, Eraserhead," I greeted them both.
"Ah you recognize me? How smart, you've been here for a good bit, 6 months now, you seem rather reclusive?" Mic pushed gently.
"Yeah, I got a lot of work that Nezu-Sensei has dumped on me. I was doing my best to keep up with my training and the work." I reached up and rubbed the back of my neck.
"Oh, Nezu took you on as his student fully then, he seemed rather happy lately. That must be the explanation. Still having fun being an analyst?" He asked, I smiled gently.
"You could say that, has the work been good?" I questioned him, it was rare to get any direct feedback and this could be key to improving my work.
"It's been amazing, I am so glad, Nezu has been able to pin them down. I was able to get the upgrades for my gear in last week and they are in the prototype stage now! I can't wait!" The yellow man seemed like an excitable Talonflame as he bounced on the balls of his feet as he talked about his gear.
"Thanks, Present Mic, 'scuse me, Nezu is wanting to see me," I excused myself before walking on. A large smile on my face.
Looking over the file I made my way to the Support Department, the file had a basic run down of the Class B quirks and really there was a lot of potential. The combat capabilities where endless especially with the copy quirk guy.
"We need to find out if hair is enough DNA for this Monoma kid, he could really be weaponized if we get him like a belt or something made of different people's DNA and it would give the boy a chance to use long practiced quirks." I hum as the AI hovered around my head.
"That is amazing!" I jumped at the shout and was crowded by a pink haired person with dreads spoke, I leaned away from her quickly surprised by the girl around my age. "I'ma call you Anny, your my new analyst." She grabbed my arm and dragged me along deeper into the support wing.
Powerloader was in for an interesting three years with that engineer. Reaching up to my collar and loosening my tie from around my neck I walked. Ignoring some of the soot on my face and burned pant leg. Who knew it would be the support department to hurt me before training did.
"Well…. She seemed nice," Rotom offered as he slipped out of my breast pocket to float beside me as I walked.
"She's eccentric, make sure to have her 'cc'Ed in any of my personal designs…. And to grab a ditto when we go home. He can be her test subject so we can avoid the explosions." Barely glancing his way as I saw the screen shift as he texted down the notes.
"We could use Marshadow instead?" Rotom offered an alternative to a plan we didn't have access to.
"That will work. What's next," I asked the AI
"Well we are late for a quirk assessment test with class 1-a,"
"Fuck!" I didn't bother with walking anymore. It was supposed to be an easy day. The hero and general study courses were supposed to go to orientation. "Get me Akio, Nightmare, and Dream," Rotom was quick to lead the way, my belt growing heavier with the transfer of the desired team. I did not need to give Eraserhead a reason to expel me from the hero course. Running through the halls I soon came to an exercise field with Eraserhead, annoyed at the class already, he may expel us before I even have a chance to tick him off.
"Midoriya," Eraserhead barked in his annoyance. "You may be Nezu's personal student but I will not tolerate tardiness in training." His eyes darted to the burned pant leg before looking up at my face again.
"My apologies Sensei, I was kidnapped by an eccentric engineer when she overheard my analysis." The answer was sarcastic sure as I joined the line. Stuffing my tie in my pockets. Looking over the class. Most were curious, but at the end of the line was Katsuki. Oh boy this was going to be fun.
He looked pale, eyes wide and hands shaking. Though he was trying to hide it. Clenching and unclenching his hands. I didn't need to cast our aura to know he was suffering some major whiplash at the moment.
"Ball throw," Aizawa called before throwing a ball about the size of a pokeball at me. Catching it rather easily. "Or you going to waste more of my time and go change?"
"These clothes are fine," he pointed to a circle.
"Stay within the bounds. Last place will be expelled," hmm no wonder he had the highest expulsion rate. Wonder if that was for every test? Stepping up to the circle I reached down to Dream's ball. No doubt someone in this class sent the ball far. What move to use, Mega Kick, it was beyond Dream's abilities now, but not past mine. Bouncing the ball a few times, letting Aura flow between Dream and I. Feeling the earth as he did, the vibrations with my feet, the feeling of my muscles shifting and moving. I bounced the ball harder on the ground one more time before putting more pressure bouncing the ball harder, into the air. Giving me the time to jump, twist, and land a good kick on the ball. Sending it flying away.
"702.8 meters," Eraserhead called, that's pretty good. "The dash is next, everyone line up." There was the explosion, it sounded almost like a large aura sphere going off. Turning to face the sound, the clicking of Nightmare's pokeball, the fire horse forming beside me as I found Katsuki wrapped tight in Eraserhead's capture weapon. Though needing to turn to Nightmare as she reared. A show that could quickly lead to violence. The neigh loud and close to a roar.
"Nightmare, down girl," I called, moving back as she dropped to all 4s. "Easy," Reaching up to her side as she stomped her hooves. Gently pushing calm through the aura bond with her as she pulled her lips back and snapped at air. Sides shaking with energy. "Easy, easy now, no one's messing with me. No harm no foul right? Head coming up and down as she stomped the ground. I looked back to see Eraserhead glaring down at Bakugou. Unable to hear what was being said before turning back to the blue fire horse. She snorted, stomping her hooves again.
"There we go," Gently running the back of my hand along her nose. "Calm, we'll do some training tonight, get the energy out of you." Nightmare stomped her hoof again before nudging my shoulder with her nose. "Good girl, back to your ball." I hit the button and she returned, I was just glad to avoid the explosion that Nightmare was capable of.
"You fine, Midoriya," red eyes looked up from the ash blond.
"Yes sir, my monsters are just protective is all." not at all bothered by the aggression my monsters had shown or are radiating now.
"We are moving on," he snipped at everyone. And the process began. The test was rather fun. Rotom of course recording our stats to use later.
Nightmare helped in the dash, Akio gave me a boost for the long jump, and Dream in the long distance run. The rest on my own of grip strength, toe touch, and sit ups.
"So, you have monsters?" A bobbed hair girl with round cheeks asked after Aizawa released us for the day. The grape haired kid cried in his capture weapon as Eraserhead walked away. Getting 5th place was rather nice.
"Hmm, oh yeah, I got more than 4 here." Pulling my sleeve up to look at my wrist computer. "Hmm, I should have enough time." I mutter to myself. Nezu wanted to actually meet rather than just hand over an itinerary as he had that morning.
"You were late to class," a blue haired man came up to join us. "Such behavior is not acceptable for a hero." Great, a law lawyer.
"I wasn't late, well I was, but in an acceptable fashion." Moving to start towards the locker room. I wanted to get back into my trainer clothes now that the school day as a hero student was over. "I am Nezu's personal student, I had to see Power Loader cause some of my classes are with him too. So I'm a bit everywhere."
Rotom's eep was the only warning before a tight grip came to my arm, turning me around to face to face with a mad, but containing it, Katsuki Bakugou.
"We need to talk, Dek- Midoriya," Katsuki growled out his words, and I was aware, I was out of time avoiding the past.
Katsuki and I ended up staying on the training grounds as the rest of our classmates left. Rotom had quickly retreated to my back pocket, and I had closed the latches to the pokeballs to keep my monsters contained, much to their anger.
"You…. Are supposed to be dead," he hissed the words out. Agitated and angry at the apparent deceit. "You went missing, they said you were dead, you, you were, are quirkless, but…."
"I did go missing, yes," I agreed softly, not wanting to set him off too much. I'd rather not deal with a Primeape right now.
"Then how," his head bowed a bit. "How are… how are you here?"
"I was told it was time to come back," there was no reason to lie. Not yet, not really.
"So you just," his chin coming back up as his anger swelled. "I… I looked everywhere. I tried, even after aunty left and, and you just."
"I needed help, Bakugou," he flinched violently at his name. Letting my aura really free to sait my curiosity, I had to hide my surprise at the guilt, aggravation, and pure relief radiated off of him. "And that help found me. Helped me get better."
"And you couldn't have done that here?! I could, I would have helped!" His clenched hands let off small little explosions.
"No, Bakugou, you couldn't have." Watching him flinch again, I reached up, tugging on my pony tail. "Look, the help I needed couldn't come from anyone here. Just leave it, it's just like you said, we weren't friends." I turned around to walk away. Choosing to ignore the spike of heavy guilt as I pulled my aura back in tight around me. Trying to cut off that old faint bond that somehow still pulsed.
