Once the elevator arrived upstairs, Melanie ran to the bathroom and then quickly made her way over to the dining area.
Unfortunately, when she arrived, Black Hat and Dementia were there appearing to be finishing a conversation of some sort.
"Black Hat?" Melanie asked. "What are you doing here? I thought you only ate the blood of sinners."
Black Hat remained silent and simply glowered at her.
"Hola, traidora!" Dementia mocked. "Are you enjoying your first day?"
"Why do you care?" Melanie retorted.
Dementia slithered into Melanie's face and replied, "Because I hope you're miserable."
Melanie couldn't think of a clever response, so she rolled her eyes, set her bags down in a chair on the other side of the table, and started heading to the kitchen.
Dementia grabbed Melanie's arm and asked, "Where are you going?"
"I'm going to make myself some lunch," Melanie replied. "Is that a problem?"
"Yes!" Dementia yelled in Melanie's face. "You don't make your own lunch here."
"Why not?" Melanie retorted.
"Because that's doing something you want," Dementia jeered as she crawled across the table, pulled out a chair and gestured for Melanie to sit in it. "Now, sit down and wait for lunch like a normal person!"
"You mean an evil person?"
"Exactly!"
Melanie glared at her and at Black Hat before she pulled her arm out of her grip, walked to the other side of the table, and reluctantly sat down in her chair.
Black Hat scoffed and left the room without uttering a single word while Dementia sat herself directly across from Melanie.
"What was that about?" Melanie asked out loud.
"I can't tell you," Dementia sneered. "It's a secret, and I always keep secrets for my bon bon!"
Melanie rolled her eyes and replied, "Good Lord. You have issues, dude."
"And you have ADHD!" Dementia mocked before bursting into hysterical laughter. "You're mentally disabled! That's why you're a hero! Hahahahahahahahahaha!"
"Speak for yourself, you hopeless hypocrite," Melanie muttered under breath.
"What was that?!" Dementia snarled.
"You heard me," Melanie retorted.
"Why you…!" Dementia snarled making threatening gestures to Melanie.
"What? You wanna fight this one out?" Melanie asked with an eye roll, summoning her scythe.
Fortunately, before a fight could break out between them, 505 entered the room with a cart of sandwiches and water bottles.
505 saw Melanie and grunted in concern.
"505!" Melanie said instantly smiling and causing her scythe to disappear. "I've missed you all day!"
"Bleh, two nice people," Dementia said with a grimace. "I'm outta here."
Dementia shot out her tongue, wrapped it around one of the sandwiches, and said with her tongue still extended, "Thee ya losers later!"
In another moment, Dementia was on the wall crawling out of the room's entrance.
Once Dementia was gone, Melanie ran up to 505 and gave him a big hug that he reciprocated.
505 handed Melanie a water bottle and a sandwich before serving himself.
Once the pair had their food, they sat down and ate their lunches together.
"Dios mio, 505, you wouldn't believe how annoying Flug is. He is so condescending…" Melanie began.
505 and Melanie had a lively conversation throughout their lunch with each describing to the other how their days had gone.
Meanwhile, it seemed that even though she was alone with the bear, Melanie was still being watched. Flug was watching the security cameras feeling unsure about whether he liked 505 being around Melanie so much.
Black Hat suddenly came up behind Flug sitting at his video monitoring booth eating his lunch.
Flug nearly jumped out of his seat and fell onto the floor.
"Good a-afternoon, sir," Flug said with a salute as soon as he got to his feet.
"How is our patient doing?" Black Hat asked.
"Completely uninterested," Flug said looking back at the monitor. "I doubt she's taken anything of what we're teaching her seriously. It also turns out that she's behind in developing her reaper powers, specifically her phasing abilities."
Black Hat studied the monitor and replied, "Unfortunate, but not unexpected. Is her next lesson on how to be a villain?"
"It was, but I can already tell that she isn't going to take that seriously either," Flug replied. "So, I thought I'd give her a different kind of exercise."
"How do you mean?" Black Hat asked.
"At camp, we start with the basics and expand on their evil skills from there," Flug explained. "For Melanie, that works a bit differently. She doesn't have the evil tendencies other children of the camp arrive with, but she does carry something else that can be manipulated towards evil means: aggression. Towards you, me, Dementia, and the whole organization. Through this aggression and her anger, we can push her to develop her powers towards their evilest potential."
Black Hat flashed a wicked smile to show his approval and said, "Excellent, doctor. Now, tell me. How do you plan to provoke this aggression?"
"I know just the person for the job," Flug replied, pressing the necessary buttons on his watch. "Oh, Dementia? Would you please come to the lab? Black Hat and I need to speak to you…"
