Chapter 28

Imprinted

Bella

The Blacks' door opened and out came ...

"Angela!" I screamed, ran up to her and hugged her.

I looked at Jake and saw the look he gave her, as if the whole universe revolved around her. He came over to us and walked in with us.

"Hi, Billy," I said.

"Hi, Bella. Nice to see you here again," he replied cheerfully.

We all sat down at the table and drank Coke.

Then something came to mind.

Werewolves did not have to keep the secret from the one they were imprinted on.

I looked at Angela, who was clinging to Jacob's arm, and they were both staring at each other in love.

Did she know what he was? And did she know about the Cullens?

"So tell me. How did that happen?", I asked curiously.

And Jake and Ang looked to me.

Angela blushed a little.

"Well, I told you I was going to La Push today. But Eric and Sarah were busy with themselves, so I went for a walk," Angela began.

"I had just come from patrol and was walking home on the beach, and I saw HER. And it was like ... I don't know ... like all the connections to the people I loved were cut. And suddenly there were a thousand connections, all just leading to her. The only thing I could see anymore was Angy."

He said it so fervently that it almost knocked me off my chair.

"And when he came to me, introduced himself and I got to know him, I realized he was exactly who I needed. He was sweet, kind, funny, handsome, patient ... Well, he's just perfect," Angela gushed, blushing completely.

"In that case, she knows everything?", I asked, turning to Jake.

He nodded.

"Yep ... werewolves, imprinting, vampires ... everything. And she took it as casually as you did back then."

He hugged Ang and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

I wonder if she knew about the Cullens.

"And ... um ... what does she know about the vampires?", I asked.

Couldn't he just tell me if she knew my friends were all vampires or not?

"I know the Cullens are vampires, but the kind that don't endanger humans. Right, JayJay?"

She turned her eyes to him, and he smiled and nodded.

Suddenly I had to laugh uproariously and not because of the pet name Angela had given Jake.

"Jake, you're already really lucky. The only two girls who hang out with the Cullens at school are your girlfriend and your best friend! Maybe you should rethink your views on them," I suggested with a laugh.

He turned to Angela.

"If it makes you happy when I get along with the Cullens, that's no problem, Angy."

I rolled my eyes.

That was really too much.

"Bella is my best friend and her boyfriend is a ... vampire. So you should at least get along with him. She's your best friend, too," she said.

If it had been about Edward, that probably would have been impossible. But Emmett was also as open and funny as Jake, so maybe ... My God, what was I thinking. Werewolves and vampires as friends, I wish.

But Jake shocked me with his answer.

"I will try."

He was the absolute calm. A phrase Jacob once said to me came to mind. 'You would do anything and be anything ... for her.' It was kind of sweet.

"Hey Ang, have you met the pack yet?", I asked excitedly.

Finally, someone I could talk to about this strange world.

"A few, yeah. Sam, of course, and then Paul and Embry. But I already met Embry yesterday and Quil too. Wow ... if I had known yesterday that I was sitting at the same table with a vampire and two werewolves. Wow ..." she told. "And you knew all along and had no one to talk to about it?", Angela asked me.

I nodded.

"Yes. So I've known the pack for five years. But back then, I only came here on vacation. And then when I moved to Forks, I quickly found out about the Cullens. I'm really glad you know all this now, too. I'm sure it's scary and unbelievable, but you get used to it," I said with a smile. "You really need to meet Sam's fiancée, Emily. She's great!", I said. "Have you seen JayJay as a wolf yet?", I continued to ask.

I felt a bit like Jessica, but I wasn't looking for gossip.

"Sorry ... tell me if I'm asking too much," I said.

"No, it's okay, Bella. I have a thousand questions for you, too. And yes, I have seen him as a wolf. He is sooo cute!"

And she hugged him effusively.

Jake just looked happy and that warmed my heart.

I smiled.

"Yes, isn't it? Cute doggie," I said jokingly to Jacob, and he rolled his eyes. "Do you want to talk more tomorrow at school? I have to go. Emmett's waiting at the border. Do you want us to drive you home, Ang?", I asked.

"Yes, we do. And no, go on. I'm there myself with the car. See you tomorrow then."

We all hugged, and I went out to my truck and headed back towards the border.

Emmett was already standing there when I arrived.

He must have heard my truck miles away.

He sat in with me and gave me a kiss. I saw his light golden eyes.

"Did you catch a tasty bear?", I asked.

He shook his head gloomily.

"Just two elk. Grazers are less good than carnivores, you know ...," he said.

Then an idea came to me. Something Edward always thought was way too dangerous. But I bet Emmett would allow it.

"Can I watch you hunt sometime?", I asked excitedly.

I always wanted to know exactly how that went.

"Sure thing! Next time I hunt a bear, you can come and watch," he said cheerfully.

Now that I was with Emmett, Edward's eternal protectiveness tour seemed really over the top. If I told Emmett about the motorcycles Jake and I had had since I was fifteen, he'd probably put one together and ride with me, too. Then it occurred to me that I hadn't even told him about Angela yet.

"Em, guuuess who Jake was imprinted on," I said cheerfully.

He looked at me and shrugged his shoulders.

"Angela, Angela Weber! Isn't that great?"

"Yeah, that's great."

He grinned at me and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
