NIER: A New D[e]vil

Within the ruins of a city taken by overgrown fauna, animals, and robotics, a large panting sound can be heard. It was coming from a woman with short white hair in a dark gothic dress with a white and black katana in her hand while a small white robot was following her.

2B, the woman, can slowly feel her mind being taken by the logic virus within her. It was gnawing at every sense of her being. The virus forced her on her knees momentarily as she screamed in pain.

'Get out…get out of my head!' The android tried holding on as much as she can before she got back on her feet and started limping. She has to meet 9S before the virus can take her. She has to make sure that he was okay or at least…be the last thing she'll see.

As she crossed the bridge, she noticed two armored androids with red glowing eyes waiting ahead of her. Normally, she can hold herself well in a fight but the logic virus was also affecting her combat systems. Hell, it was a miracle that can block the most basic of hits at this point.

2B charged and tried fighting as hard as she can, but she was no match for the fully infected android. She was pushed to the edge of a cliff before weakly raising her sword arm again, ready to defend herself.

Just then another figure rushed into the fight and attacked the infected androids before they can finish off 2B. 2B looked at her savior to see a woman with long white hair, a worn-down outfit, blue eyes, and…had the exact same face as hers.

"A…2…" 2B recognized as A2 then focused on 2B's attackers and made short work of them.

Once that was done, A2 looked down at 2B with a silent look. She had seen so many comrades fall victim to this virus and the ending was never pretty. She pitied 2B, but the latter didn't need any of that right now. Now, she has something important she needs to do as she felt the malice of the virus becoming more and more fierce.

"Guess…this…is it…" 2B then cut off her blindfold, revealing that her clear blue eyes have converted to glowing red. The clear sign of the logic virus taken over the majority of her at this point.

She used her last system access to upload everything into her sword before plunging it into the ground between them.

"These are…my memories!" 2B gasped out. She refused to let her whole being to be completely erased by this virus. She refused to be forgotten. She refused to lose herself in any manner.

A2 said nothing as she simply stared sorrowfully at 2B.

"Take care of everyone for me…" 2B pleaded. While she wanted to entrust her last request to 9S, she couldn't afford to be picky at the moment. "Take care…of the future…"

"…" A2 stared at 2B as she approached the katana and took hold of it before pulling it out from the ground.

With a nod of acknowledgement from the older android, 2B smiled and closed her eyes. She knew what was gonna happen next. She would rather die as her own person than live as the virus's pawn.

2B then gasped as she felt the sharp end of her sword go through her abdomen. She was now dying or what passed for dying as a machine. Despite her fading conscience and receiving various critical warning messages, she was happy. Happy to be let go from this cycle of pain. Her only regret right now was…

"2B! Are you…!"

2B and A2 turned to see 9S on the bridge below them. While his blindfold was covering his eyes, his mouth was wide open in shock as he saw his partner fatally stabbed. But to 2B, she didn't care. It was enough for her to see 9S one last time.

"Oh…Nines…" She gasped out as she closed her eyes and slid off her sword dead with her systems shutting down.

(In an unknown location)

"Oooh, look she's waking up." An unfamiliar voice said.

2B slowly opened her eyes and at first, she saw a mix of colors before her vision corrected itself. In front of her was a tall man with light skin, slicked back white hair, blue eyes, a Victorian-styled outfit, and a monocle over his left eye.

2B didn't recognize this man in front of her and was further perplexed by how she was still conscious. She was supposed to be dead. Did Nines managed to upload her to a different body? No, couldn't be. Command taught them that an infected corpse was still infected plus the Bunker server was destroyed along with their backup bodies and data.

"Aaaah?" 2B tried asking who he was and only gibberish came out of her mouth. Was her vocal processor not functioning? Aftereffect of the virus, perhaps?

"She's trying to speak. Much livelier than her brothers right now."

'Brothers?' 2B looked and saw two smaller beings to her left and right. One was wrapped in red cloth and another in blue. While their eyes were closed, they also sported white hair. That was when she looked down at herself and noticed she was wrapped in a white cloth and underneath it was a small stubby body like her "brothers".

'What kind of body is this!? What happened to my motor functions!?'

"So what do you think we'll name her, Eva?" 2B looked above her and saw a woman with long blonde hair and blue eyes smiling gently at her.

"Hmmm…how about Bethany? You already came up with Dante and Vergil, Sparda. Let me have some fun naming."

'My designation is YoRHa No.2 Type B and-!' 2B tried saying all of that, convinced that this pair of machines have captured and uploaded her mind to this small useless body, but what she was really saying was….

"Aaaah! Aaaaah! Aaaaaaah!" 2B got out as Sparda gently pulled her out of the three babies.

"Alright cry baby, Bethany it is then." Sparda joked, getting a glare from his wife as she tended to Dante and Vergil.

'WHAT!?'

"AAAH!?" 2B got out before feeling exhausted and taking a nap.

(Years later)

"Isekai", a genre found in popular media back in the age of humanity that consists of one's soul traveling to be reincarnated into a different world. When 9S was babbling about this when researching a ruined mall, 2B would always just wave it off. Now a part of her wish she had genuinely listened if she was ever going to end up in this particular scenario.

This also begs another question; why was she the one to experience this phenomenon? She was an android in her original life and was far from deserving a second chance the way she sees things.

During the first few years of her new life, 2B didn't want to believe that she was reincarnated into a being of flesh as opposed to metal and wires. Until she experienced a cold for some time, causing her to be in Eva's care for the time being, much to the jealousy of her brothers.

Now she was fully convinced that she was human, or rather half-human. When she was around 5 or so, she snuck into her father's study to learn that he was a demon. Now that was a concept 2B was more familiar with. In her old life, some machines would refer to her as a demon; a vile and evil creature capable of mass destruction.

But her father wasn't evil? A bit brutish at times, but never evil outright. Luckily for her, Sparda never did find out about her going into his private studies or at least played dumb to it.

Right now, she was 7 years old and was helping her mother with chores before being approached by one of her brothers.

"Hey Betty! Betty!" Dante called to her. Having brothers was certainly a new foreign concept to the reincarnated girl. She can only remember the term "brothers" being used by machines; most notably Adam and Eve.

Dante reminded 2B of Eve since he was the more playful and immature one out of the pair. However, one huge difference was that while Eve would do anything to please his brother, Dante would strive to the perform the opposite for Vergil. He would tease and prank him, much to Vergil's annoyance.

Occasionally, he would do it to 2B as well such as either misusing the dolls that their mother gifted her or just tease her in general. It took 2B a lot of willpower to resist punching Dante in the face on occasion. Even 9S wasn't this annoying to her in her previous life.

2B has tried her best to fit in with her brothers, but given her previous life memories; it was hard for her to get along with children in general. Getting along with her brothers usually had mixed results. Either that she got along with them or she came out as the social outcast.

2B looked at her mother, who simply chuckled and nodded.

"Go on, play with your brother. I can take care of things here."

2B nodded as she ran off to her older brother. Out of the triplets, she was the youngest, Dante was the middle, and Vergil is the oldest.

"What is it, Dante?"

"I need you to do me a favor." Dante then picked up a book next to him and handed it to 2B. 2B looked at the cover of the book and recognized the letter V on it.

"You took his book? You know how much he loves this thing." 2B said as she knew that an angry Vergil was the last thing she wants.

"I know, which is why I want you to hold onto it instead of me. He wouldn't suspect you of hiding it." Dante argued. "I took it from Vergil's side of our room when Dad wanted Vergil's help with something."

"Why do you always drag me into your messes?" 2B asked while Dante used a puppy face.

"Please, Betty~? Please~! Please~!"

2B just sighed as she shook her head. Sometimes, it was hard to believe that she was the youngest out of all of them.

"Fine, what do you want?"

"Just hide the book. I gave Vergil a fake and I need someone to hide the real one." Dante explained his prank.

2B just nodded as she took the book and went to their room before looking for a hiding spot. However, before she can do anything…

"Dante!"

2B followed that shout and saw a young boy, looking identical identity but had his hair slicked back like their father, pressing Dante against the wall.

"Where is it? I know you took it!" Vergil questioned. Vergil was like Adam in the ways that he was quiet, smart, and analytical. But it's easy to make him mad when you know how to push his buttons and no one does that better than Dante.

The oldest triplet then noticed 2B and the book in her hand, causing him to shove Dante onto the floor.

"Can't take the responsibility of stealing the book, but you have to pass it off onto our little sister!?" Vergil accused Dante angrily, knowing full well that 2B wouldn't willingly steal his book.

Dante responded by making Vergil trip on the floor, causing the two boys to fight much to 2B's annoyance.

2B placed the book safely on the stand before trying to break up the fight by getting between them, hands pushing against their chests.

"Will you two stop it!? You're acting like babies!" 2B argued as she tried keeping them apart as much as she can before she ended up being dragged into the fight itself.

The triplets were at each other's hair until…

"CHILDREN!"

The three stopped fighting and looked to see their father standing before them, eyes glaring as a malicious aura surrounded him.

The three stood at attention, looking very scared. Especially Dante, who looked like he was close to crying.

"It would appear you three continue to act half your ages." Sparda observed as he sighed, trying to calm down. "Very well, if you three want to kill each other…I'll gladly oblige that wish."

(Later outside)

The triplets were standing out in the field outside the back of the mansion in a triangle, equal distance between each other with training swords in hand. Sparda was watching this not too far from them arms crossed while Eva just looked a little concerned as she watched this from the 2nd floor window.

2B wasn't sure what was odder. That her father's solution to the infighting is more fighting or that fact that she and her brothers are willing to go through with this.

'Demons may be odder than humans.' 2B mentally remarked.

"Rules are simple; last one inside this circle is the only one not grounded. Understood? Any questions?" Sparda announced as he drew a circle around his children with a stick. The kids readied themselves as they looked at each other.

Strange as it may sound, a part of 2B missed holding a sword in her hand even though it was a training weapon. Though she doubts she can perform any of her old moves in this body. 2B may be half-demon in this new life, but she was too young to tap into that side. The white-haired girl looked at her brothers, who seemed that they wanted this as much as her.

"Good…BEGIN!"

2B, Dante, and Vergil glared at each other and charged. The three locked blades at once before separating. 2B, using her memories from her past life, tried to go for the offensive first by brutally slashing at her twins. Dante and Vergil were barely able to keep a defense up while Sparda just stood silently, watching with interest.

2B then got down and swept kick Dante onto his back before she blocked an attack from Vergil. Vergil tried pressing his attack against 2B's sword, not noticing that the latter was grabbing a handful of dirt.

2B then threw the dirt at Vergil's face, making him stumble back as Dante charged from behind. 2B noticed his oncoming attack and moved out of the way at the last second, causing the twins boys to clash and fall onto the ground.

Sparda stroke his chin in fascination as Vergil, having wiped the last of the dirt from his face, pushed Dante off of him.

"Get off." Vergil said before getting up onto his feet and looking at 2B. "I'm done taking it easy on you, sister!"

"Then come." 2B said plainly as Vergil charged before clashing swords. Dante soon regained his composure as he then clashed his sword with theirs. The triplets were in a 3-way lock, trying to one-up each other and take the advantage.

Dante and Vergil then noticed a faint white glow in 2B's eyes before she used her newfound strength push them back and slashed them across the chest at the same time. The force blew them out of the circle, causing Sparda to look satisfied as the white glow faded from 2B.

"Well now, it would seem Bethany is off the hook." Sparda declared as he looked at his sons frustrated and exhausted. Eva rushed outside and tended to them while Sparda looked at his only daughter and gestured her to follow him.

2B complied, ignoring the glares she received from her brothers.

"That was quite an impressive show you've made, Bethany." Sparda remarked as they entered the manor and started walking down the hall.

"Thank you, Father."

"Those moves…where did you learn them?" Sparda asked, curious as this was the first time any of his children fought each other.

"Well I, uh, learned a few dirty moves from Dante." 2B lied, wanting to keep her past life a secret.

"Is that so?" Sparda looked back at 2B's face, getting a nod from her. "I see..."

It was always hard to tell if Sparda can tell if she was lying or not. The pair soon entered Sparda's private studies and 2B looked around.

"Your private room? You never let anyone but Mother in here." 2B remarked as Sparda then pressed a button underneath his desk, causing some of the bookshelves to flip over.

2B saw a plethora of weapons before her father walked over to one of them. He then took a rapier with a grip long enough for both hands, the cross-guard resembled dark wings with a blue gem in the center, and the blade was long and white.

"What do you think, Bethany?" Sparda said as he knelt down so 2B can get a better look at the weapon.

"It looks like an effective weapon." 2B remarked, having seen similar weapons in her past life.

"This sword is called Archangel and…it shall be yours." Sparda declared, getting a surprise out of 2B. "I was originally planning to wait a bit longer for you and your brothers to be ready, but it looks like you will have a head-start in training."

"Training?"

"To fight and defend. And if need be…to kill." Sparda replied, surprising 2B even further that her father would allow a young child to be trained at this age.

'Demons…are stranger than humans.' 2B mentally remarked as she looked down at her new sword.

(A couple years later)

"Quickly in here!" Eva hurried as she held Dante and 2B by the wrists while dodging any burning debris.

It hasn't been that long that their father Sparda died and while the family mourned, his enemies took advantage of this moment. They've attacked the manor in hopes of wiping our Sparda's legacy, family included. Luckily, Sparda was not dumb enough to leave his family completely defenseless as the home was enchanted with defensive wards. However, they will not last long.

It also didn't help that Vergil was playing by himself outside at the time the attack occurred. They could only hope that he got away.

The blonde woman then hid her children in a closet before the three heard the sound of the door being knocked down. The demons have come to end Sparda's lineage.

"Listen to me carefully! You both need to hide, Dante, Bethany. No matter what happens, you mustn't leave! I'm going to find your brother. I promise I'll be right back! Dante, you're in charge now. I need you to be a big boy and do your best to protect your sister, okay?" Eva asked, getting a slow frightened nod from Dante.

"Mother, please!" 2B begged Eva not to leave, knowing she wouldn't stand a chance against those demons.

Eva just held a soft smile as she turned her gaze towards her youngest.

"The same goes for you, Bethany. Keep your brother out of harm's way. If I don't return, you two must run by yourselves. You two would only have each other, understand? You must change your name. Forget the past and start a new life as someone else…A new beginning." Eva instructed as they heard noise from somewhere else in the house.

She smiled softly as she closed the wardrobe doors. 2B tried to go after her but Dante kept holding her back as their mother left the room.

"Vergil! Vergil, where are you!?" Eva called out as she ran. Although the two couldn't see it, they heard their mother's screams of pain and agony. 2B can do nothing but cry into Dante's chest, while the latter hugged her and cried. Doing his best to not imagine what is happening out there.

(Hours later)

The twins could hear nothing now and the flames have mostly died down. They didn't hear the demons either, so they must've left.

"I…I'm going to open the doors now." 2B said before slowly opening the closet doors, revealing the burnt room.

"Mom! Vergil! Are you guys out there!?" Dante called out and there was no response. The two kids looked around and has seen the walls and floor burnt to a crisp, several pieces of furniture were toppled and destroyed, and there were no signs of either Vergil or their mother.

2B looked around outside to see the everything scorched and broken as well. She clenched her hands as she looked at the scene, bringing back memories from her previous life. She then noticed something red near her, so she took a closer look.

Upon getting a better look, 2B's body almost instinctively threw up as she recognized what was in front of her.

"Did you find something, Betty?" Dante asked, using the nickname he gave his sister to try and make light of the situation.

"…" 2B said nothing, getting her brother's attention. He walked over to her before…recognizing the mess in front of them that was once their mother.

"Oh no…" Dante got out before noticing 2B crying. To her, this was life's cruel joke. One that she heard the punchline for over and over again. While she was being trained to fight, 2B didn't think she would have need of those skills again this soon. Not only has she lost her father, but now her mother and brother, who was nowhere to be seen.

Dante sees his little sister's frustration and hugged her to comfort her. 2B quickly hugged back before crying into the boy's chest.

After some time has passed, the two separated before looking at what was left of their mother.

"I'll…take care of Mom. You should check if there's anything we need back at the house. If what Mom said was true, we need to grab as much as we can here to start a new life." Dante said.

2B nodded as she went into the ruins of the once great mansion. She entered and noticed the door to Sparda's study was opened. The white-haired girl entered to see that entire room was burnt with the books being either burned or missing. No doubt stolen so that Sparda's enemies can learn his secrets.

She then noticed that Sparda's armory door was opened as well and went in. 2B looked around to see that most of the weapons were destroyed or missing, save for two swords. One was Archangel and other was Rebellion, the claymore that Sparda entrusted to Dante.

2B took hold of Archangel before tightening her grip as she felt the same sense of powerlessness when the demons attacked and her dark past life. She didn't think she had to do it, but it looks like she would need to draw upon the power of her demon lineage and YoRHa No.2 Type B to take her revenge and ensure no one suffers as her family just did.

"Glory to mankind…" 2B muttered to herself.

(Years later)

2B was walking through a dark city sidewalk before looking at herself in the mirror. She had regained the look of her previous self, save for her equipment. She was wearing a dark trench coat with Archangel sheathed on her back, a grey long-sleeve shirt with the collar tied with a black ribbon under a black vest, dark short shorts, and black thigh-high heeled boots like the ones from her previous life.

2B took a deep breath as she continued walking to her destination, seemingly unaware of dark grey humanoid creatures resembling the Grim Reaper appearing behind her. They each readied their scythes as 2B seemingly remained ignorant of their appearance as she walked.

Now in the center of a closed shopping plaza, the daughter of Sparda finally stopped as she looked around to acknowledge of the Hell Pride demons surrounding her. 2B stood still as one of them tried to leap at her, but she seemingly vanished the second the monster landed its attack.

It looked around before seeing 2B in mid-air above them before the latter took out a silver Colt revolver with blackened ornate designs from her coat and firing.

BANG!

The bullet destroyed the monster's face, letting it fall onto the ground before dissolving. 2B landed on her feet before another demon tried swinging its scythe at her. The woman easily dodged all of its attempts before shooting it twice in the torso area and using it as a meat shield when another demon attack, getting its scythe stuck in its comrade's chest

2B then shot both demons in face, killing them effortlessly. Just then her phone started vibrating, 2B took her device out and answered.

"Hello? Dante?" 2B answered her brother as she dodged another attack. "No, I just finished up."

2B reloaded her revolver before killing 3 more demons with it.

"I'm on my way back. Why?" 2B asked casually as she dodged one more scythe before disarming the demon of its weapon. She then grabbed the scythe and used it to kill it before throwing it in another direction, decapitating all demons in its path. "I'm not picking you up another damn pizza!" She replied vehemently.

2B unsheathed Archangel and stabbed a Hell Pride demon in the face from behind without even looking back, still arguing with her brother.

"Because it's starting to affect our funding. So much so that I have to freelance time to time now until we open. A problem we would never have if you just followed my budget plan-!"

"…" As 2B was listening, she slashed and stabbed through multiple demons.

"I don't care if you don't like reading the numbers! Someone has to be the responsible one for the business we have yet to open. Speaking of which, have you thought of a name yet?"

"…" 2B sighed in frustration at what she was hearing.

"Why did I let you be in charge?" She questioned as she looked at the remaining demons. "I'll be back at the place in a short while."

"…"

"Fine, I'll bring breakfast, but I'm choosing. No more pizza."

"…"

"Deal." 2B confirmed as she hung up and placed her phone away. "A part of me is kinda glad you guys came. I need to do some venting."

2B then placed her offhand above the black and white blade. Her hand swiped over the blade, activating the runes and allowing the blade to be consumed by a whitish glow. 2B readied herself as she then rushed straight into the demons, easily cutting through them like butter.

The plaza soon became littered with blood and limbs as 2B finished off the last couple of demons by bisecting one down the middle and final demon with a stab straight through the chest. The glow died from her sword as 2B placed it away before she started hearing clapping.

She looked behind to see a tall, pale-skinned bald man applauding her. He was wearing a dark simple minister-esque suit. And the most noteworthy things about him was his heterochromia and large burnt scar covering the left side of his head.

"Impressive. Most impressive, Bethany…Daughter of Sparda." The man complimented, revealing he knows full well who 2B is. The woman was a bit tense at that remark as most people who know who she truly is usually spells out bad news for her.

"Can I help you?" 2B asked as she still held her sword. She swore she would never kill a human, but like Dante, she can bend the rules when push comes to shove.

"Originally I was on my way to you and your brother's establishment, but I don't mind talking to you lot separately." The man explained, looking very calm as he approached the young woman. "I come bearing an invitation from your brother. The other one."

2B remained calm, but she knew full well who he was referring to. Over the past few years, Bethany and Dante discovered that their older brother survived the attack on the mansion and has changed from it. They've met recently last year but…that caused a strain on their relationship.

"What about him?"

"He simply wants to see you two again for a reunion of sorts."

"Assuming I believe you…how do I find him?"

"He'll find you." The man said simply as he then walked into the shadows and seemingly vanished.

2B placed her sword back on her back as she looked at the full moon above.

"Vergil…what the hell do you want now?" 2B wondered before realizing that she has to call Dante. She started running back to the shop as the call only lead her to the automated voice message system. "Damn you, Dante!"

As she reached the shop, a Hells Pride demon was thrown out the window before dissolving. Knowing what that meant, 2B kick opened the door and saw a demon stepping on Dante's leftover pizza mid-swing.

The white-haired woman immediately took out her revolver and fired, killing the demon. It fell and dissolved revealed a surprised shirtless Dante, save for his amulet.

"I had that one!" Dante argued as 2B looked around the messed up shop. If there's one lesson that Dante has had beaten into his head literally is to never piss off his sister. "Okay Betty, I know this looks bad, but…"

"I leave you for a few hours and you already mess this place up." 2B said calmly but Dante can tell she was using her "calm but angry" tone of voice.

"T-They started it!" Dante tried defending himself.

"Then take it outside. You're not the one that actually does the accounting in this place." 2B argued as she then aimed pressed her revolver's barrel against Dante's forehead. "You're very lucky right now that the freelance job I did will be enough to pay for the damages, but we'll be right back to where we started. So I expect you to do your fair share in cleaning, got it?"

Dante nodded as 2B placed her gun away.

"So I take it you got the invite too?" 2B asked.

Dante smiled as he nodded before getting his red coat nearby.

"Can already tell this is gonna be one hell of a party!" Dante said excitedly as he looked at 2B. "Well come on, let's not keep our big brother waiting."

2B nodded as the two walked outside to see more Hell Pride demons waiting for them. Dante then looked behind to see how much of a mess their building was.

"Oh man, look what they did to our shop! Haven't even name it yet!" Dante complained before noticing 2B's cold glare at the building. "Well, I'm not the one who did that!"

"Good thing too because we can really teach them a thing or two about manners!" 2B declared as she took out her sword and Dante joined her.

"Now you're speaking my language!" Dante smiled before…

"ACHOO!" The young man sneezed, causing more debris collapse from the shop.

2B saw all this and just sighed as she shook her head. Haven't even opened yet and already the place is falling apart. Not even the money she got was going to cover all this.

"You guys better have insurance." Dante replied as he took out his pistols, Ebony and Ivory, and started shooting.

At the same time, 2B charged into the group of monsters as a white blur before cutting down two demons in one swipe. She saw another two mid-air about to swing down at her before Dante shot them down.

"Your welcome!" Dante smiled before 2B thrusted her sword right by his face, killing the demon that was about to stab him from behind.

"Now we're even." 2B remarked back while Dante snorted.

"That was one! I got you two!" Dante retorted before another demon rushed to get between them, causing the two siblings to jump back. Upon landing, they aimed their gun and opened fire on the monster destroying it.

More and more Hells Pride demons started appearing, not concerning the two devil hunters. They just looked at each other and nodded before rushing at them.

Dante replaced his guns for Rebellion and entered his Swordmaster style. He started landed heavy slashes on the demons that were in his way, even giving one a series of jabs.

Meanwhile 2B landed on her feed and took a deep breath as she placed her gun away and clenched her fists. Her eyes started to glow red as a red aura enveloped her, activating her Berserker style.

2B then charged at super speed, leaving behind a series of red afterimages. She roared as she punched a demon so hard in the face that it flew through several walls before dying. The white-haired woman then noticed another demon right next to her and performed a high kick, getting her heel lodged in the monster's face.

She then twisted her ankle, destroying the monster's face and killing. Another demon saw an opening and opted to swing its scythe at her. 2B sensed the incoming attack, but when she was met with the attack, it was only her afterimage that was hit.

The demon was surprised before 2B appeared behind it before grabbing it by the arms and tearing them off with little to no effort, letting it bleed out on the floor before dying. 2B then gasped as she re-entered her default Style; Battler. Berserker takes too much out of her despite the speed and strength she was granted with it.

As she tried to take a quick breather, she looked over to see her brother cutting demons left to right as if they were nothing. When he slew the last one, the siblings met up before hearing a loud roar.

The two looked over to see a bigger version of the demons they had just fought. It roared out loud as it jumped off the rooftop and landed in front of the two siblings, ready to fight.

Instead of switching to her revolver, 2B placed her sword back and took out a silver book instead.

"Dante, let's do the Hangover!" 2B suggested as she opened her book, filled with outlandish language.

Dante smirked as he nodded in acknowledgement. He then switched to one of his own styles; Trickster and charged straight at the demon while 2B looked at her book and flipped through the pages. She then switched to her other style; Sage.

The white-haired woman then started tapping certain lines in the book, causing them to glow. Two ethereal spears appeared and hovered over her before flying into the monster's body, causing it to scream in pain. It noticed Dante right in front of him, shrugging off the pain and attempted to swipe its scythe at him.

Dante easily dodged it before taking out his guns and started raining down bullets while 2B taped more lines in her book. This time a rope dart started to emerge from the pages. It stopped halfway and 2B pointed her finger at the Reaper, causing it to launch from the book.

It flew and impaled the Reaper's face but it didn't seem to hurt it. 2B then snapped her fingers, causing both their eyes to glow.

(Inside the Reaper's mind)

2B found herself inside a dark plane and in front of her was a red diamond protected by a small forcefield enclosed around it. 2B tried approaching before the mind's defenses attempted to intervene in the form of red glowing Hells Pride demons.

They tried charging at 2B, but she kept dodging them as she was focused on shooting the crystal with her revolver. She kept firing until the forcefield was shattered into glass pieces. 2B then charged at the crystal and started slashing at it while more and more demons started to spawn around her.

They attempted to rush at her, but the human-demon hybrid wasn't concerned as she managed to break the crystal. Out from it came a light that swallowed her.

(Reality)

For Dante, it's only been a few seconds before the ethereal rope spear vanished as the Reaper then screamed in pain with blood gushing out of its head while 2B snapped out of it.

"Ha! Hangover!" Dante laughed, calling that reaction. 2B sighed as remembered when Dante wanted to call that move that when she got the Devil Arms book; Grimoire Moon.

The two then refocused on the demon that can only scream in agony and rage.

"Then how about we cure his headache, brother?" 2B asked as she switched weapons and style.

"You read my mind." Dante agreed before the two suddenly felt the ground shake, postponing their fight.

The two looked for the source before seeing a large tower sprout out of the ground, tearing down everything in its way. Once the tower has risen, the two siblings can see a few figures standing at the top.

Dante and 2B recognized one of them with widened eyes before they've quickly turned fierce. They saw their older supposedly deceased brother, Vergil glaring down at them.

The two remembered how they clashed with him one year ago and it did not end well. 2B gripped her sword tightly as she glared at her older brother.

"It's been nearly a year since we last met? Where does the time go?" Dante mused.

The wounded Reaper then took advantage of this moment by retreating.

"Come on, we should move. Knowing Vergil, he probably wants to finish what he started." 2B stated as she started walking ahead.

"Heh, wouldn't want to disappoint him! Wonder what kind of surprises he has for us, Betty." Dante laughed while 2B just had a somber look on her face.

Even in another life, fate has called her again to cut down another loved one. 2B then looked back at Dante, who seemed to be enjoying his own thoughts. She would spare him from this cruel action.

(With Vergil)

"Arkham." Vergil called, looking back at the man who had approached 2B and Dante previously.

"Well? Doesn't it excite you? The Temen-ni-gru has revived, the Great one who once ruled this earth as the medium between the Human World and the Demon World. Isn't it a magnificent view?" Arkham noted as a hooded figure walked alongside him. "The greatest minds of their time, those who revered Evil, constructed this glorious edifice. Now, after two millenniums of confinement, it can at last fulfill the purpose for which it was intended-."

"That's none of my concern." Vergil bluntly stated. "Did they have it?"

"Of course, they have been taking care of it." Arkham stated. "After all, it is the only memento left from the mother you three lost."

Vergil looked at his own amulet before looking back at the city.

"But neither of them has no idea of its true power." Vergil commented before the Reaper from before flew up and landed in front of Vergil.

The white-haired man started walking away as the demon was started to annoy him. Before he can do anything, the hooded figure rushed past Vergil and sliced the Reaper in two…with a gold-colored katana blade.

The hooded figure looked back at Vergil as it then dismissed its sword. It said nothing, but Vergil could tell what was on its mind.

"…Just stay out of my way and we won't have a problem." Vergil coldly stated as he started walking away to prepare for the family reunion, leaving Arkham and hooded figure by themselves.

"…" The hooded figure looked at Arkham and while the figure was not speaking, it would seem that the older man understands something.

"I wouldn't worry about it. He'll prove useful to our plans and you will get what you want." Arkham assured as he left next. "I must prepare everything for their reunion. It's best you do the same as well."

The hooded figure stared blankly at the city, watching Dante and 2B progress.

(Elsewhere)

A motorcycle stopped within the city with the driver, being a woman noticing the tower nearby.

"Finally found you, after all this time." The driver remarked, revealing to be a woman with short dark hair, a white shirt, a skirt with protective plating, and a utility belt with several ammo bags. On her motorcycle housed a giant cannon with a bayonet and a white and black katana like Vergil's Yamato. The only differences was that it had a white-cloth wrapped around the end of the hilt like a keychain and the guard was more rectangular than circular like most traditional katanas.

"Take care of everyone for me…Take care…of the future." A female voice rang in the driver's head. The same phrase that has been on repeat since she was a little girl. She didn't have time to attempt to make sense of it as she heard a certain noise behind her.

The lady turns around and saw Reapers spawning behind her bike as they begun to take notice of her. She shook head to focus on what's now before revving her motorcycle engine. This caused the motorcycle to take off, leaving behind a burst of flames that toasted the demons into ash.

AN: And there's a proof-of-concept idea that I've had for a while now after reading some other stories that inspired me to try this. It's not as long as I normally write, but that's because this is just a spitball idea that I had in the back of my head that I've always wanted to try.

In terms of the main chapter update, it's on the way. I haven't forgotten. I've just been dealing with a lot of personal issues, especially in the health department which I won't go too into.

Anyways, please review or send PMs for questions, comments, or concerns. Don't be afraid to review this chapter, send questions, or look at my other fics.

Alright, I'm done. Goodnight.
