If you've clicked through to here, that tells me you're ready to begin. But before we do, a quick timeline placement, this is happening in Season 3 of Batwoman, so expect some references to that. Now, a quick summary of where we left off. After Flash scattered the remaining seven Elements stolen from Spyro and Cynder by Malefor to the winds, the two dragons and the League, with the aid of some of the Legends of Tomorrow, realized the best course of action is to set off immediately to recover that which was stolen before Malefor and his Dark Knights can. And once Flash told Iris what was going on, that's exactly what they did, with Oliver Queen telling them the Multiverse is depending on them. So, what awaits going forward? Let's not sit around, time to find out!
Dragon of Mystery Presents:
The Second Story of Six telling a Crisis of Two Worlds
Starring Spyro, Cynder, and the many heroes of the Arrowverse
Elemental Crisis Book II: From The Shadows
(Enjoy the show)
(The first scene of our second book opens up in a dark alleyway, one familiar to anyone who knows Batman lore. This is, of course, Crime Alley. But there's no sign of Batman anywhere. Rather there's a single woman running down the infamous alleyway. Behind her, a man in a top hat with a card reading 10/6 in the band.)
?: Now, now, this is no way to greet a fan...
(Clearly this figure is no friend to the fleeing woman, who in her haste trips up, revealing her identity, this is Beth Kane, formerly known as Alice. And soon enough, the top hat clad figure catches up to her)
?: I just want to ask you a question, Alice.
Beth Kane: I'm not telling you anything, you madman!
Mad Hatter: Oh, I'm a madman alright, Mad as a Hatter. But we've already been over this, when you stabbed me. Now please, just tell me where the shade is, and I'll be on my way, never to bother you again.
Beth Kane: Yeah, right.
(At this point, Mad Hatter is about to respond, but then looks behind Beth Kane, revealing there's somebody else here, someone that terrifies her)
Mad Hatter: (To this new figure) I swear, I was just about to get the information out of her, miss. A few more seconds near my hat and...
?: Spare me the excuses, Hatter. You're nowhere near clever enough to do that. Jervis would have been better for this. If only he weren't dead.
(At this point, we finally see who this figure is, as evidenced by their bleached white hands. It's Joker, one of Malefor's Dark Knights)
Joker: Now then, Alice, just tell us what we want to know, and things will end well for you.
Beth Kane: I don't know how you're back, Napier, but I don't know what you're looking for! And even if I did know what this "shade" you want was, I wouldn't tell you!
Joker: A shame. (To Mad Hatter) Guess we're going to have to resort to Plan B.
Mad Hatter: (Realizing what's going on) Damn...
Beth Kane: (Now scared for her fate) What's Plan B?
(With that, Joker pulls out her tommy gun and points it at Beth Kane)
Joker: Since you won't answer my original one, maybe answering this one will be easier.
(Now Joker removes her hat, leaving Beth Kane terrified that this Joker is actually Kate Kane)
Joker: You ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?
Beth Kane: Kate?!
(Joker doesn't even respond, and instead riddles Beth Kane with bullets, leaving her yet another victim of Crime Alley, her blood running onto what looks like a plaque in the ground memorializing Thomas and Martha Wayne. With Beth Kane dead, Joker turns to Mad Hatter)
Joker: What are you standing around for? Do you want to be next?! If not, I suggest you GET BACK TO WORK!
(Scared for his life, Mad Hatter turns and runs without a word to Joker, who just nonchalantly turns Beth Kane's head so it faces the other direction, for some reason.)
Joker: The boss isn't going to like this. You'd think one of these new kids would find the thing by now.
(As as Joker leaves the scene, laughing maniacally, our tale ends for today)
That looks like a good spot to end for today. And what a way to start off, killing off Beth Kane. Fun fact actually, while planning this story, Beth Kane was supposed to become the Dark Knights' version of the Joker, but I decided it would be more impactful for Ryan Wilder, the acting Batwoman, if it was her predecessor in Joker's design. So, what exactly is Joker dragging the new generation of Gotham supervillains into finding? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
