Here is another chapter.

Seemed they finally fixed stats...

So at least they're working in the right direction.

Hopefully the site can be more consistent and not take months to fix everything that breaks when issues arise...

A lot of story build up and character development this chapter.

More for the Konoha characters to justify the time jump to start next chapter when everyone arrives at Beacon.

So let the chapter commence.

It used to feel like a fairytale

Now it seems we were just pretending

We'd fix our world

Then on our way to a happy ending

Then it turned out life

Is far less like a bedtime story

Than a tragedy with no big reveal of the hero's glory

And it seems we weren't prepared

For a game that wasn't fair

Do we just go home?

Can we follow through?

When all hope is gone

There is one thing we can do

"Lady Tsunade, are you sure about this? He did not look… "

"No one else has been able to track him down." Tsunade scowled, dust billowing in the air, brown eyes shimmering as the forest shuddered.

Wildlife fled the forest as birds took to the sky, a coat of orange fur flowing through it with blazing intensity.

"If there is anyone more motivated to find him and has the ability, show me," Tsunade questioned, intently gazing upon all gathered.

Kakashi sighed. His head hung. His eyes dull and listless. "I only hope he can do it. Sasuke does not want to be found."

"But perhaps hearing that Naruto has somehow survived, surely he would want to return? He had come home for him…" Ino optimistically replied, filled with hope.

"You weren't there when we found them." Sakura's sullen voice quivered.

She hung her head, eyes diverted.

Sorrow consumed her, balling her fist.

"We arrived too late. Naruto did what he always does… He finally reached Sasuke… It cost him everything to do it. " Sakura's eyes glinted as she bit back a sob, reliving the memory.

Only to feel the slightest warmth touch her shoulder.

Comforting her.

Green met lavender.

A compassionate and concerned look expressed.

"I'm okay," Sakura inhaled, forcing a slim. "Appreciate the concern, Hinata. Thank you."

"I understand." Hinata softly spoke. "It's been trying on all of us."

"Yeah… It has." Sakura exhaled.

"Well," Tsunade gently smiled, observing them with arms crossed. "You can express your feelings to him directly to an extent. He can still summon. It's just difficult, and it wastes that chakra. So he'll have to do it sparingly but for now… I suggest everyone get together for him. Write something."

"Do whatever you can to help keep his spirits up so he can keep fighting. That should be our priority as it is the only avenue of contact we have with him." Kakashi added, his face straightening behind his mask. "We have no conclusive idea on what could have occurred to cause this situation. The scenarios could be endless."

"We will search for all possible alternatives and what we can. Something like this is unprecedented. There is no way to know what will help and what won't. If you believe you stumbled onto something, report it." Tsunade stated, her eyes shifted to Kakashi. "I think we both know where we should look first."

"Read my mind," Kakashi confirmed with a nod before wincing. "Don't know if the new resident there will be too happy at our intrusion… She has a bit of a split personality."

"Why are redheads always so temperamental?"

"Did you have to bring attention to my bow?" Blake muttered, adjusting her bow, her eyes darting around nervously. "I don't think I'm fooling anyone now…"

"Huh?" Naruto frowned before squinted, noticing the occasional awkward glance thrown toward Blake.

And him?

And Velvet?

He scowled.

It wasn't often, but it was enough to draw concern. A student here…

A student there…

He was familiar with those stares all too well. He wished he wasn't.

They were similar to those he received when he was younger.

Those identical hate-filled glares.

Those who thought he was Kurama.

"Mah, what's with these looks?" Naruto harshly squinted, noticing every detail. "And what are you talking about? Why are you trying to fool anyone? Velvet isn't… I don't get it!"

Discouraged with what he saw.

"Are you dumb?" Coco stared at Naruto in disbelief, staring him up and down. "It's obvious why any Faunus would if they could! How could you not know that?"

"A sad truth," Yatsu added as Velvet sullenly hung her head.

Naruto's frown deepened.

Velvet's demeanor.

Blake's worry about being found out.

Even Coco's team worries for their teammate.

Something didn't feel right.

Was there…

"Let's talk elsewhere," Naruto felt Blake tug on his shoulder, her features sunken, directing him away from the others. "There are some things we should discuss…"

"That doesn't sound good." Fox ran his hand through his hair. "I don't like this depressive mood hanging around everyone."

"Apologize for that! Make it to ya later!" Naruto flashed a chipper smile, something he immediately noticed he wouldn't be able to see. "Oh, wait…"

"Nah, I could feel the intent in your voice and words." Fox waved it off. "Don't worry about me. I've got ways around this disability of mine! …Might want to listen to her, though… Feels important."

Seeing Fox blanch, Naruto's intent returned to Blake again, seeing a mixture of both fury and demureness in posture.

It didn't sit right.

"After you," Naruto gestured.

Blake didn't hesitate. Directing him to the only place she knew that was quiet…

Safe.

For now…

If he was going to be here for a substantial amount of time…

As one of them.

He needed to know.

To understand.

"Most people knock."

"Seems you made yourself quite at home." Tsunade made a sweeping gesture with her hands.

All the books piled on the tables and desks.

Scrolls strewn about and open.

Various seal parchments open, notebook opened scribbled upon next to them.

"This is my home. The last bastion for my family," A young lady with part red hair, calm on one side, wild on the other, responded. "...It was supposed to be."

"This is my family home just as much as it is yours." Tsunade placed a hand on her hip and scowled. "Do not forget who is letting you stay here. This place belongs to my grandmother…"

"You are hardly an Uzumaki." Karin retorted, flipping a page in the book she was studying.

Paying little heed to Fifth Hokage.

Tsunade squinted.

She really wanted to flick her in the head.

She knew the girl could be either hot-headed or cold and calculated…

Or lustful and preying upon a specific target…

Though she had begun to express interest in another…

"What do you want?" Another page flipped, red eyes glinting up from the book. "I'm busy attempting to be the last matriarch of my clan and learn everything necessary."

Further squinting, noticing several vials on the tables, Tsunade cringed.

What was she planning?

Did she even want to know?

"Do not think I will let you do bizarre experiments here," Tsunade reminded, squinting at the Uzumaki.

"Do not take me a fool. I will collect these samples from my specimen in a legal fashion." Karin's lips quivered with amusement. "Oh, they will be legal. And then, the Uzumaki clan can start fresh! A new era will reign!"

"I almost don't want to bring him back…" Tsunade grimaced, glancing at the girl in shock and horror.

Karin scoffed, scorn glinting viciously through her glasses before her intent returned to her book. "Well, he is the only one left and is to my preference. The other specimen, as tasteless as he was… Was a strong Uzumaki and would have been good for strengthening the blood once more…"

"Okay, enough!" Tsunade bit back her disgust, for while it wasn't uncommon for clans…

They had long since moved on from the practices.

"I'm here to search through the library for information." Tsunade turned toward the spiral staircase, planning on ascending to not bother with the insane Uzumaki any longer.

"Information on what topic?" Karin replied, shutting her book. "I've memorized every title in this library and categorized each one based on how useful the topic was. If what you search for exists here, I can find it faster than you."

Snapping her intention toward Karin, watching as she strode over, Tsunade repressed her previous urges. If she had memorized, at least, the titles in this massive library…

It would make finding something in these archives possible…

"This is a peculiar request. Might not even exist, which is why I was going to search myself." Tsunade frowned. "Did you come across anything that could be related to other dimensions or rifts?"

Squinting her gaze, Karin lowered her down on the bridge of her nose and glared at the Hokage. "Are you joking?"

Tsunade rolled her eyes, walking further upstairs.

The reaction was to be expected.

It was an odd request.

If it weren't for hearing the report about what happened from Kakashi, she wouldn't have believed that rifts to other worlds could be opened…

But it was possible.

"There are maybe two."

Tsunade rapidly spun around, looking down the steps at a speculating Karin. "But I seriously doubt either will help you. While they were oddly placed in the historical section, they seemed more like… Fairytale stories… Judging by aesthetics and artwork. They didn't seem serious."

"Historical section?" Tsunade scanned the library, attempting to locate where it was.

Making a beeline toward it.

Only for her heart to sink. "I told you they didn't belong there. I moved them."

"Show me where they are!" Tsunade strode down the staircase, all but demanding.

Karin didn't budge, crossing her arms. Stared her down. "What's so important that you would need those particular books? They are unimportant storybooks. There shouldn't be any critical information within them."

Tsunade inhaled.

She needed to explain.

There was no getting around this.

If he returned, she would find out…

"What if I were to tell you…" Tsunade exhaled and heatedly stared at Karin, knowing exactly how to press her buttons. "The Uzumaki patriarch is still alive."

"Oh?!" Red eyes flickered with delight. "Tell me more!"

"You got me excited, hag!"

Hatred…

Why was there always so much hatred everywhere?

Why did there always seem to be some reason… Something that caused strife amongst people?

He clenched his fists back and forth.

He inhaled and exhaled.

His long orange-furred ears flicked.

Golden eyes stared expectantly at him.

She sighed.

It seemed like discrimination was something he hadn't faced before from the shock he expressed.

Must be nice.

Untying her bow and releasing it from her head, Blake sighed as her ears flicked freely.

The first time in quite a while in front of another person…

It felt nice.

"I hope you can understand now," Blake sighed, her eyes dimming. "This is a problem we've faced for some time, and you just happened upon. Something you're gonna have to experience now…"

"Not the first time I've experienced discrimination and hatred."

Blake's head snapped toward Naruto.

Ears stiffened.

Her eyes shimmered and dilated.

Did he say…

"Dealt with crap to start my life. Shouldered it and overcame it." Naruto scowled, crossing his arms over his chest. "Saw how people treated each other too. All the hatred and toxicity. How it ate away at good people and how it changed them."

"I've always fought against that crap!" Naruto gnashed his teeth, his eyes glinting resolutely. "I might be looking for a way home… But I ain't gonna stand for crap like! Sounds like I've got some work to do while I'm here!"

"Huh?!" Blake stumbled, her eyes flickering, almost at a loss for words.

Then her eyes narrowed, and she snarled. "Fighting won't get anywhere! Violence isn't the answer!"

"I'm not saying that!" Naruto scrunched his nose toward her, causing her to lean back in surprise. "I know what it feels to be looked upon like that! It's the worst! If something can be done, I'm gonna do it! Don't know what! Don't know how! Maybe a fight is necessary somewhere! I can't tell ya! But I'm gonna stand my ground! Stand for what is right!"

"It's what I've always done! I'm not stopping now! So everyone better prepare, as I'm Uzumaki Naruto, and I'm coming!" Naruto boldly declared, his eyes shining with determination.

Taken about by his sudden declaration, Blake was left breathless.

She stared at him, stupefied.

Unable to find words.

Her stomach fluttered and twisted in knots.

Just who was Uzumaki Naruto…

And why did she believe that maybe…

Just maybe…

He could do something.

This place…

She had refused to come here since she had returned.

She didn't want to remember.

But now, she stood on the threshold…

The memories returned.

His brilliant smile…

"It's okay," Hinata expressed, pressing the key into the lock as the door clicked open. "I've taken care of everything… I stay here some nights."

Sakura's head snapped and tilted.

Eyes shimmering.

Concern washed over her.

"Hinata," Sakura expressed her worry.

"It's okay." Hinata sadly expressed as the door gently swung open, turning to face Sakura. "We have all been under a lot of stress… Maybe we haven't dealt with the same issues, but…"

"We've both took what happened hard." Sakura gently lowered her head, eyes glistening sorrowfully. "I'm sorry… I shouldn't have isolated myself…"

"It wasn't only you." Hinata stepped inside, flipping on the light. "If it wasn't for Kurenai bringing Mirai over to see me… Kiba and Shino coming over to take me out to eat… Shikamaru, Ino, and Chouji assisted in taking care of the place… Hanabi taking me home…"

"You too, huh?" Sakura's figure slumped. "I took double shifts to get everyone to stop bothering me. Shizune is there, always trying to cheer me up. Kakashi always finds me at the worst times… Ino refuses to relent… I fear Tsunade was about to track me down soon and shake me down."

Faintly smiling, Hinata repressed a weak laugh. "Yes. I'm afraid so. …So many people care not to let us wallow alone."

Joining in on the feeble laughter, Sakura glanced at the sight.

Her heart skipped seeing the room.

She inhaled, shaking her head.

He was okay. He was just…

Somewhere else.

Despite what she saw.

Sakura scowled.

"Gonna have to write a strongly worded letter for him," Sakura muttered, running a hand through her hair. "Don't think I can express how mad I am at him for leaving us!"

"And how joyous we are that he has done the impossible and returned to us," Hinata added before slimly frowning. "Well, almost. Still trying to get back."

"Yeah," Sakura bit back a laugh, her smiling broadening. "Not back yet. Gotta find a way back. Do our best for him on our end."

Glancing upon the room, her eyes gleamed before running her hand over his plant. "Everything looks nice. His plant is nice and healthy, too. He'll be happy to hear that."

"Like I said, Shikamaru, Ino, and Chouji have been helping me take care of it." Hinata beamed before she pursed her lips. "Should we…"

"You know…" Sakura nodded, agreeing with Hinata's sentiment. "I think we should. Living material doesn't do well in storage seals, but it should be fine for a short time. He's far from home without anything he knows. If he's got a place to stay, and it sounds like he might soon if he's got a job over there…"

"Having things from home would be comforting." Hinata placed her hand on her hip, carefully looking throughout the house.

As Sakura went to gather some scrolls to seal some sentimental items for Naruto, Hinata's eyes glimmered at the objects.

Her thoughts drifted, and she grimaced.

A sigh escaped her lips.

"Everything alright?" Sakura glanced over at Hinata before noticing her expression. "About Naruto?"

"Yes," Hinata nodded, clutching her chest.

Stopping her actions, Sakura moved toward her and wrapped her arm around Hinata's back in a comforting manner. "All we can do is believe, okay? Doubt is understandable. I have many worrying thoughts, too. But… He always finds a way, doesn't he?"

Hinata let out a guffaw at her own expense.

Her eyes misted before she rubbed the tears away.

She knew Sakura was right…

Doubting Naruto was the last thing she should ever do…

But she couldn't help but worry…

Her eyes glimmered hopefully, gazing upon her plant once more.

She shook her head. "We have to make sure that it arrives safely. I wouldn't feel right if it didn't…"

"I think I have just the plan." Sakura grinned, stroking her chin, pondering the issue. "You see… I know a person…"

"She's been studying seals the last few weeks, and it's naturally in their blood, so maybe…"

"Have you heard? We have a new Professor!"

"Yeah! He's supposedly taking over Professor Goodwich's role!"

"What? Are you serious? Where is she going?!"

"From what I've heard, she's learning to take over for Professor Ozpin?"

"What? Is he thinking of stepping down soon? He has been headmaster for a while…"

"Wait, is that the new Professor!"

"Seriously? Him? He's our age! Younger! I'm not going to listen to him! "

"Or a Faunus… Ow! "

"Say that again, and I'll break something! My best friend's a Faunus, you ass!"

"Yes, mam!"

Long ears swished.

They swayed.

Curled and stiffened.

He was annoyed at all this chatter!

He refrained from snarling, strolling through the courtyard, heading toward the tower.

Naruto had a meeting.

It was a meet and greet with the rest of the Professors.

His new colleagues.

Yet he couldn't put all this chatter behind him.

His conversation with Blake…

It stuck with him!

There was so much more to this than he thought!

"Ugh, what I'm gonna have to do to earn everyone's respect around here?" Naruto grunted, squinting at the students talking about him as he walked by.

Letting them know he could hear them!

It was satisfying to see them skip away.

At least he could do something…

"Ah, yes! You must be the new Professor!" A high-pitched, chipper voice caught Naruto unaware.

Before a blur appeared in front of Naruto, causing him to stumble.

"Ah, what the…"

"Where are my manners? My name is Bartholomew Oobleck! Doctor Bartholomew Oobleck!" The man with spiky green hair, semi-professionally dressed, even if he was half-tucked, took Naruto's hand without asking and shook it vigorously. "Historian! And I must say it is a pleasure to meet you! A young strapping man like yourself granted such an opportunity? My word, you must be something special, my boy!"

"Uh, Naruto. Uzumaki Naruto…" Naruto leaned away, taking his hand back.

"Something troubling you? You seemed bothered?" The man rapidly responded, jumping beside him and nearly causing Naruto to jump out of his skin.

"Guess you could say that…" Naruto mumbled, warily stepping away from the peculiar man.

"Oh?" Oobleck frowned, scanning the scene, snapping his fingers as an epiphany came. "I see… Worried about how the students will receive you?"

"Uh, yeah?" Naruto blinked, "Kind of."

"That's an issue everyone has when they first take the job. I remember my first day. I tell you, it was terrifying! I didn't know how to react!" Bartholomew chipperly patted him on the shoulder in comfort.

"But, as for how you'll connect with them…" Oobleck's tone shifted, slowing as he expressed genuine concern. "That's for you to figure out. I can't say for sure. Everyone's approach is different. It is never easy. For you, I can only imagine… Some students are going to see your age and not care… Who you are…"

"But you will have to find a way to reach them." Oobleck's tone became reflective as he gazed outward upon the horizon, a twinkle in his eyes before it fell back onto Naruto. "Your role here is the most important in all of Beacon. To ensure the students are ready to head into the world… And defend the people of Remnant."

Silence followed Oobleck's words.

Naruto tilted his head awkwardly at the doctor momentarily.

A genuine smile formed on his face before he gazed upon the horizon. He let a chuckle escape.

A sparkling glint twinkled within his cerulean gaze. "Thanks… Kind of cleared my head a little bit."

"Think I have a few ideas on what to do for my first class."

"Is this good enough?"

"How many drafts has that been?"

"Kakashi!" Iruka leapt up from his seat, clutching his chest.

Then he stared at Jonin sitting in his windseal, looking at him with amusement.

"Can you ever do anything normal?"

Kakashi simply closed his eyes, a slight smile curling beneath his mask as he chuckled. "Nope. Someone has to keep you on your toes."

"Stop channeling Naruto!" A tick developed on Iruka's enlarged head as he yelled at Kakashi.

Kakashi reached to his ears, removing earplugs, smirking at the sight of Iruka's twitch. "Mah, you should relax a little. Being so tense isn't good for you, you know?"

"I'm beginning to wonder who picked up on whom's quirks." Iruka squinted.

"A little of both." Kakashi smiled before relaxing his expression. "It doesn't have to be perfect. It's Naruto. If it's from the heart, that's all that matters."

"Of course, you would say that," Iruka snorted before faintly smiling. "But you're not wrong… Got to stop overthinking it… It's just this was the last thing I expected today."

"It was for any of us." Kakashi reminded, chuckling lightly. "You just can't underestimate him. I wouldn't have thought such a thing was possible. But this is Naruto. I can't think of anything that isn't possible with him involved."

"Surviving death? Ending up in a new world without knowing how he got there? Still managing to contact us and send for aid? While searching for clues on his end?" Iruka muttered, musing in response before sighing in exasperation. "Yeah… I can believe it when it comes to him."

"That's the spirit!"

Iruka scowled, suspiciously glancing at Kakashi. "You're already finished, aren't you?"

"Of course! I knew precisely what he needed!" Kakashi chirped, gleaming with amusement. "Came to check how you were doing."

"He needs more than ramen!" Iruka scrunched his face and heatedly glared at the masked man.

"Mah, it's the thought that counts, remember?" Kakashi passively waved before his expression shifted stern. "You got to think. He is in a strange world with nothing familiar. Nothing comforting. To have something on hand to eat made from people he cherishes?"

"From people he cherishes?" Iruka quizzically responded before recognition dawned on him. "You stopped at Ichiraku's? Didn't Tsunade…"

"If anyone deserved to know… And the man, devoted as he is to his craft, is a Third Great War Vet. He knows how to keep a secret." Kakashi replied, glancing out toward the street. "One of the first people to treat Naruto with dignity and respect? The man deserves to know he's back."

A warm expression lifted Iruka's face.

He lowered his head, smiling in understanding.

Ensuring the man that possibly had the most impact on Naruto's life knew he was okay?

Maybe he wasn't so…

"So, I put him to work!"

"Dammit, Kakashi!" Iruka snapped at the heartfelt moment shattered in front of him.

"What?" Kakashi shrugged his shoulders, holding back his laughter. "I'm paying him for the order! Never seen the man more impassioned to solve how to preserve his brand of ramen in packaging! He's never had to do that before, but he's taking the challenge to heart and facing it with a smile."

Scrutinizing the masked Jonin, no longer giving him the benefit of the doubt, Iruka scoffed.

At least he was paying the man…

He sighed, his gaze falling back down onto his scroll.

Why was writing his thoughts such a challenge?

This was Naruto, for crying out loud?

"Something heartfelt, huh?" Iruka pressed his pen against his pursed lips, a gentle smile forming. "Think I can do that…"

"Maybe some advice on teaching too?" Kakashi added, one leg hanging out the window, ready to head out. "Something Shima relayed… He thought it was possible he could be offered a Combat Instructing role at an academy over there somewhat similar to ours… With older students. Make sense. Needs a stable income, and that's a job he's suited for…"

"He what?!" Iruka snapped, alarmed. "That is not a role he can handle!"

"I think he can…"

"Children are horrible! Teenagers and young adults are nightmares! You know that! They think they know everything!" Iruka scolded while Kakashi sheepishly rubbed his head.

"I had well-trained teenagers, at least." Kakashi grinned beneath his mask.

Iruka's eyes dilated.

Kakashi winced as a scroll bounced off his head.

"I have to redraft everything!" Iruka bellowed, panic consuming him. "He needs every bit of support I can give him! Where do I even begin? Lesson plans are hardly the place to start!"

"You have fun with that." Kakashi slipped outside the window, leaving Iruka to his fate as he scribbled wildly.

"The egos! Oh, he's gonna have a field day with that! He's finally gonna learn half of what I had to deal with, and I still feel pity for him!"

"Maybe I should put something in my letter too." Kakashi mused, listening to Iruak's tirade while stroking his chin before nodding as he strolled down the street. "Yeah, that will work."

"Having faith in his skills should be more than enough."

"Took you long enough, boy. Been wanting to see you myself!"

"Mah, I'm sorry!" Naruto scratched, almost reflexing, attempting to avoid being smacked in the head.

Only for it to not happen.

Confusing him.

Instead, Fukasaku simply landed on his right shoulder, Shima on his left. "You, your father, Jiraiya… Full of surprises… Good to see you in good health and spirits."

"Mah, good to see you too!" Naruto laughed before looking genuinely surprised. "Mah, what's this?"

"Everyone back home sends their regards," Fukasaku withdrew a scroll, handing it down to Naruto. "We got some work to get to, now, don't we? You took the job, correct?"

Taking the scroll, a warm sensation spread through his gut. Closing his eyes, letting it comfort him, Naruto exhaled.

His eyes opened, and a new determination steeled within. "Yeah, I did. Gonna have to do a lot of research, though…"

"Find where this Great Tree Gaea mentioned is located."

It had been a long time since he had roamed the world in such a manner.

He couldn't take it in.

Where was he?

He could feel the boy's negative presence.

He was a beacon of it. Always had been.

He was confident he could track him down.

His boy had fought him enough he could recognize that signature from anywhere.

Scarlet eyes flickered, gazing toward the starry sky.

His muzzle forced a scowl.

It had vanished.

What was this feeling?

There was something in the air.

Eyes lingered upon the moon.

Could it be…

Kurama snarled.

This did not bode well.

It was always so silent here.

The darkness consumed everything.

It felt peaceful all around him.

So serene.

Everything below felt calm…

It was pitiful.

Why were they left up here?

All alone.

Now he was the last…

All that was left were the half-bloods and those who dared weaponize the gifts they received…

"Now isn't this interesting." His voice reflected calmly. "I wasn't ready for you to come find me. How did you become aware of my presence, I wonder? Perhaps you uncovered the clues hidden within those fairytales with those eyes of yours?"

With a silver ringed eye fading to scarlet, a lone figure stepped forward unflinching.

Scarlet eyes with tomoe spinning, absorbing every detail, gazing upon an unmoving mediating form.

"What do you know of dimensional travel?"

"Oh?" The pale figure with shaggy hair responded, amused. "You seek her power? That's interesting. Searching for the wayward Sun, are we?"

Scarlet eyes dilated and morphed.

Lightning crackled in his palm.

"What do you know, Ōtsutsuki?"

"That you are out of your depth," A young Ōtsutsuki man responded, his eyes held shut. "When it comes to the Crafter, we all are."

"But, I will assist you," Toneri's voice resonated, looking upon the half-blood descendent of his family's race. "But you must assist me."

Morphed eyes reverted and narrowed.

Lightning faded.

Sasuke's lips snarled.

"What do you want?"

Another chapter down.

I do hope you enjoyed.

Or are horrified at the consequences of what may unfold.

Your thoughts are much appreciated, so let me know what you thought.

I'd love to hear them.

But for now, I will see you soon.

Peace.
