Living with James Potter was an interesting life. The man was intelligent but not particularly suited for academic performance. Trying to get him to sit still long enough to studying or write papers was honestly more hassle than it would be worth. Sirius was only slightly better at those things, and Lily was fairly certain that he had learned the ability via harsh punishment.
Both men had issues occasionally, similar to how Remus would get around the full moon. All three of them had different sensitivities to things. They also had different responses when those issues reared their ugly heads. More than once, Remus would go the week leading up to the moon not eating because the nausea was so bad. As a family, they made an effort to control what came into their flat to prevent triggering scents from lingering. James tended more towards issues with sounds and lights. Usually a few hours behind a muffling charm was enough to help him reset. There was a permanent charm on his glasses that helped keep reflected lights from becoming too dazzling for him to tolerate.
Sirius, though—Sirius was prone to migraines. He would push through the first few stages of overstimulation until he literally could not continue. Then he would be in so much pain that even the strongest pain potions couldn't touch it.
Over the years, all of the Marauders had learned to spot the signs that it was reaching the crisis point. When she had become friends with them, she had also learned the signs. She had also come up with several ways of handling Sirius so that he would actually rest before it could jeopardize his health, something that not even James or Remus could manage most of the time.
Lily had known when she and James had started their love affair with Tony that he had a lot in common with James. Over the last few weeks, she had thoroughly enjoyed most of those similarities, too. But watching as Tony squinted at the white text shining brightly against the black background of his screen, she was beginning to realize just how much the man had in common with Sirius.
Tony had always pushed boundaries. She knew that much about him from the research she had done since he had first approached her about this project. Someone telling him that something was impossible was usually interrupted by him ignoring them and doing it anyway. It didn't surprise her that he treated his own limitations that way.
Telling him that it was time to take a break would work as well as it always did when James and Sirius got focused on a project, which was to say not at all. Lily pursed her lips and tapped her fingers lightly over the transparent plastic covering her keyboard as she thought over the problem. Idly, she added another line of coding to her portion of the heuristics.
She couldn't just slip him a sleeping draught like she would Sirius. Nor could she just hex Tony with a sensory blocker—though maybe she could look into a way of slipping Tony an enchanted item that would help prevent this in the future. Silver held enchantments well on its own without relying on regular contact with the aura of a magical core. Was it too soon to offer something with the Potter crest?
Lily smirked at the thought of how James would react to the idea of marking their lover in such a significant way. They might have only known Tony for a little while, but that did not change how either of them felt about him. Tony being a muggle mattered more than the short time they had been involved with him. It made things complicated when it came to sharing certain things about themselves, outright preventing it until something changed that would allow them to let him in on the Secret. Just love and sexual congress was not enough of a legal reason to break the Statute of Secrecy, and the repercussions of that were predictably unpredictable. Oblivators were notoriously sloppy when it came to working with muggles and the impact of that on a mind like Tony's would be devastating.
The risk was just too great, even if the omission felt like a millstone over both Lily and James and by extension their relationship with the muggle genius. Maybe someday they would be able to share that part of their lives with Tony. Maybe someday it wouldn't even matter.
Lily focused back on the problem at hand. Tony was quickly reaching a point of overstimulation that would result in a migraine. She shifted in her seat. The movement reminded her that the indigo wrap-dress she was wearing that day had a skirt that came down to mid-shin. It had bright yellow suns around all of the edges. It also had more than enough fabric to hide a grown man under the skirt. She had paired the dress with the slate gray scarf with sienna cacti on it that Tony had found in the campus bazaar last weekend and insisted on buying for her.
"Hey, Tony," she called before she had even fully processed what she was planning to do and where she was planning to do it. She spun her chair around to face him. He tilted his head in her direction, unconsciously revealing the reddish purple hickies that she had left on the graceful curve of his neck. A thrill of arousal made her thighs clench. Maybe James wasn't the only one who enjoyed seeing Tony visibly claimed. Lily curled her fingers at him to indicate that she beckon him closer.
Tony obliged her easily. Lily spread her legs apart as he came close. She slid her hands up his thighs, the fabric of his slacks surprisingly soft against her palms, until her fingers could wrap around his leather belt. Using the hold, she pulled him ever closer, until he was near enough that she could mouth at the growing bulge behind his zipper. Above her, Tony let out a groan. His hands lifted, instinctively seeking to bury his fingers in her hair only to hover uncertainly around carefully arranged braids she had just redone a few days ago. Even with most of his blood flow being diverted away from his brain, Tony knew better than to tug on her hair.
"Good boy," she praised, barely lifting her mouth. She pulled the scarf from around her neck. "Let's make it easier, though. Hands."
"I have to invent time travel," Tony rambled as he crossed his wrists behind his back. Lily set to work tying his hands with her scarf without looking. "Past-Me was a genius to insist on getting that for you. Also, can I just say that I am very impressed at your ability to multitask?"
"What can I say?" Lily replied before giving a suggestive nip at his cock. She used the way his knees weakened whenever she did that to start guiding him down to the cushioned mat below her chair. "I'm not just a pretty face, you know?"
"No," Tony agreed as he knelt between her spread legs. She carded her hair through his short curls, relishing the soft sigh that escaped him as much as the way his eyes fell blissfully shut. "You have forever to stop doing that."
"Good," Lily agreed. With the hand not buried in Tony's hair, she tugged up her skirt until her knees were bared to the cool air of their workshop. As if sensing the new exposure, Tony turned his head to press a kiss to her inner thigh. "Such a good boy for me."
He hummed in acknowledgment, already slipping away towards subspace. He must have been more overstimulated than she had been able to see. She tugged on his curls gently before lightly scratching at his scalp. Carefully, she shifted them until Tony was halfway under the desk and she could face her computer. Tony settled where most of his weight was leaning against her leg.
If Lily could keep him there forever, she would.
