Chapter Five - Larry and Sally
JJ walked into the room, closing the door behind her. "I heard what you said."
"You know we didn't mean anything by it, JJ," Emily said. "It's just the position we're in now, we have to be careful. And of course we're concerned what all of this is doing to you."
JJ nodded. "No need to explain yourself. You're probably right… Look, I appreciate it, and everyone going out on a limb. I can handle it. Okay, yeah, it's a bit different with Will, but he's my priority right now."
"Don't worry," Derek said. "We'll find him."
"What if he doesn't want to be found?" asked JJ, as much to herself as to Emily and Derek.
"We've got this," Emily reassured her. "It's just a matter of time."
Half an hour later, the crew were gathered around the table, investigating JJ's desperate situation.
"So, what have we got?" said Emily. "An unidentified corpse, a blackmail note, and a missing Will."
"Hey, can I take another look at that drawing?" asked Reid.
JJ handed over the sketch artist's impression of the lifeless woman she'd seen that night. She watched as Spencer carefully studied it.
"What is it, Spence?"
"She's older, but I'm sure I've seen her before," he finally said. Then it clicked. "That photo album we were looking at," he said, talking to Rossi. "Remember that one with Will, back in New Orleans, back at the police academy."
JJ leaned forward, feeling slightly more hopeful; cautiously optimistic.
With his partner gone AWOL, Bobo had been stuck on desk duty for the day. It was a quiet day, at least until a tall guy with red hair walked in.
"Anything I can help you with, sir?" asked Bobo, as the man approached the counter.
"It's my wife," the guy said. "She's gone missing."
"Alright, sir, if you come over here and give me some more details, I'm sure we can look into this for you," said Bobo. He then proceeded to ask, "What's her name?..How long has she been missing?.."
"Her name's Sally, we're visiting from New Orleans. She came to visit a friend here."
"Have you talked to the friend?"
"Well, no, he seems to have disappeared too."
"And what was his name?" asked Bobo.
"Will."
"Will?" echoed Bobo, and then asked the follow-up question, although he suspected he knew what the answer would be, "Okay so… Will what?"
"Will LaMontagne Jr," the guy replied.
Bobo sighed. It seemed his partner was in demand.
The team were gathered around a photograph album, looking for any other photos of the mystery woman. Garcia, who'd been busy digging in her computer cave, scouring for information on the mystery woman, whilst simultaneously keeping up with a handful of less secretive cases, came into the room.
"Wait, is that the woman?" she asked, peering over Derek's shoulder.
"Uh-huh," he replied.
"I'm surprised I didn't recognize her," said JJ. "I've seen that album enough."
"Her name's Sally," said Garcia matter-of-factly. ''Sally Walton."
Suddenly everyone's heads turned toward her.
"You could have informed us of this earlier," snarled JJ before quickly retracting. "How do you know that?"
"Because her husband's turned up at the cop shop, says he thinks his wife was having an affair with Will."
Emily's hand went to grab JJ's, as her friend's face turned white.
"Did Bobo get in touch?" asked Derek.
"No, the guy was just on the news," Garcia explained.
There was a collective sigh throughout the room.
Emily rolled her eyes. "So much for keeping this under the radar."
