I do not own Teen Titans
R&R
Raven teleported to her room so fast her head spun.
She collapsed onto the floor clutching her chest as she began to hyperventilate.
'What did I do? Azar, what did I just do?'
Raven tried to get her breathing under control. She needed to breathe.
She looked around her room making mental notes of what she needed.
She had to get out, to leave.
She needed to breathe.
A knock on her door interrupted her panicked thinking.
"Friend Raven?"
The sound of Starfire's voice forced Raven to focus. She needed to calm down. So, she told a boy that she liked him. And that was why she had been mean to him in the last 24 hours. No big deal. Not the end of the world.
'Absolutely the end of the world...' Timid squeaked from inside Raven's head.
'At least you told him...' Happy offered, though she seemed to be desperately grasping for optimistic straws.
'No, she didn't, he figured it out on his own!' Love sounded exasperated.
'Only after she led him there by other verbal cues.' Knowledge explained calmly.
Another knock sounded on the door, this one sounding more desperate.
"Friend Raven?" Starfire called.
'Alright everybody shut up! I need to figure this out. Away from... certain people.' Raven concluded weakly.
Her emoticons were silent, meaning that they agreed. At least there was something they could agree on.
Raven stood on shaky legs trying to regain her composure. She needed to pack, and quickly. She had no idea how much time had passed since she had left Gar and she wanted to be gone before he got back.
Looking up she saw that once again her powers had wreaked havoc on her room. Books were strewn about, her pillows were nothing more than tattered shreds, her mirrors were cracked, and other little knick-knacks lay on the floor in pieces. She groaned, realizing just how much this little "situation" was affecting her mental state. Her room hadn't taken a beating like this in years, not since her last romantic interest had made her life... difficult.
Raven made a mental checklist of what she needed to do before she could leave. She made another one of the supplies she would need to pack. As she made her lists, she began to pace her room cleaning as she went. She absentmindedly made her way over to her door, having left her poor friend in the hall for far too long. As she did she began coming up with excuses to give Nightwing about why she was leaving in the middle of an important investigation. One that she was crucial to.
She slid the door open prepared for an onslaught of questions, or worse, a conniving and mischievous smile of triumph.
"Hey, Star- fire?"
What she was not prepared for was the tall Tamerainian powerhouse to be standing at her door in near tears. She was sniffling, her bottom lip was quivering and there were tears in her eyes. Raven also took quick note of the clothes she was wearing. In hip-rise jeans, converse that Raven had bought for her during one of their girl days, and a pink t-shirt with a purple cat on it, she looked ready to hit the town to run some errands or do some shopping.
"Raven, I-I need your help." She whimpered. There was a look in her eye, a wild, fearful, desperate kind of look. It gave Raven the chills.
Shaking herself out of her stupor, Raven ushered Starfire into her room. Closing the door Raven turned to her friend, concern sweeping everything else away. Right now, her problems didn't matter, clearly her friend needed her more.
"Starfire what's wrong?"
Starfire plopped down onto Raven's bed tears beginning to make their way down her face.
"Kori." Raven knelt in front of her friend trying to get her attention.
"Talk to me."
Kori stood up and started pacing the room. Soon she started to mutter to herself in Tamerainian. Raven watched for a minute, allowing her friend some space to regain her composure.
Meanwhile, she stood and began the process of gathering her things and packing them. Maybe by the time Kori was ready to talk Raven could be packed and ready to leave. Hopefully, all before Gar got back to the tower. She didn't think that he would be rushing back to try and track her down, but on the off chance that she was his first stop when he got back, she wanted to be long gone.
Finally, Kori stopped pacing and took a deep breath. She wiped away her tears and breathed deeply again. She looked calmer, and less on edge, but she still seemed upset. Raven paused what she was doing and turned to give her orange friend her full and undivided attention.
"I-" she stopped, as though rethinking what she was going to say.
"Is it Dick?" Raven ventured a guess. They had had fights before. It wasn't the first time Kori appeared at Raven's door in tears. But usually, it was full on sobs and verbal waterfalls of what had happened, how it happened, and how it made her feel. She was also usually bursting at the seams emotionally, so much so that Raven normally needed a moment to put up extra blocks so that she was not overwhelmed. But that was not the case right now. Now, Starfire seemed to be more in shock than anything else.
Fortunately for Raven, the shock seemed to be keeping Kori's other emotions at bay, but Raven knew that eventually her friend would need to let all of it out. Hopefully, Raven would either be prepared or far away when that happened.
Kori shook her head.
"No, it's not- that's not...he is not the cause. It involves him, but it is not his fault."
Raven looked at her confused.
"Then what...?"
Kori sighed, and with her bottom lip quivering and tears once again threatening to spill, she reached behind her into one of her pockets. She pulled out something and handed it to Raven.
"I am pregnant." She whispered.
Raven looked at her closest friend, stunned. She could not believe her ears.
A dull ringing began to fill her ears as Raven took the small stick Kori was holding out. Sure, enough on the little screen, there was a plus sign. A headache began to pound at Raven's temples. It was starting to become a real red-letter day.
So much for leaving to figure out things with Gar.
"Wha-wha..." Raven stuttered, unable to decide what to ask first.
"I do not know," Kori said, looking crestfallen.
Seeing her emotional friend's expression Raven shook herself out of her shock. It did not matter what her feelings were on the subject right now. Kori needed her. Her level head, her logic. She needed support and had come to Raven for it. So Raven was going to do her best to give it to her.
"Let's go for a walk."
