Hurray! Happy Ladynoir July!
This takes place during the last scene of season 5 'Jubilation.' Rather than denial, Ladybug and Chat Noir accept that they wanted the same thing, miss their fantasy, and love each other. I thought it'd be nice if they got together here. It was a good opportunity.
Ladynoir July 2024
Day #5: Sunset
The Eiffel Tower was always a sight to behold. And even more so at sunset. Which was why it was one of Ladybug and Chat Noir's favorite places and times to meet up and talk.
And after the day they had had, they needed it.
They sat on the edge of one of the buildings overlooking the tower. Ladybug sat a good three feet away from her partner to his left. She didn't know why she decided to sit so far from him. Maybe she was still frazzled from what had happened earlier.
The fantasy.
Ladybug had been shaken and sad after they snapped out of it but Chat was livid. He was so angry, he had fought Darker Owl a lot rougher, hit him harder, he was yelling, and then he almost cataclysmed him directly. Luckily, he stopped himself at the last second and instead used it to destroy his mask only, releasing the akuma.
It had been very upsetting for both of them. Not because of what they experienced, but that it was taken away from them.
The fantasy. It wasn't just his. It was hers too.
"How did Monarch give Mr. Damocles the power of jubilation without giving him a miraculous?" Chat asked.
"I don't know. I don't get it," Ladybug replied, just as stumped.
As much as they tried to focus on the matter of Monarch and his new methods on akumatizing people, they were both thinking about their fantasy.
"Ladybug," Chat started to say. "That power of jubilation. It's suppose to show us our deepest desires, isn't it?"
Ladybug gulped. "Yes."
"But that was…" Chat paused, disappointment in his voice. "that wasn't real, right?"
Ladybug turned to him. "Of course not," she said, trying to sound precise and unbothered. "I mean, the wedding, the…babies," her voice faltered. Chat finally turned to her and saw her lips trembling and her eyes misting over. "Totally…not…"
Seeing the sad and sympathetic look in her kitty's eyes was too much and Ladybug's eyes over flowed with tears.
"Hey," Chat said, immediately getting up and crawling over to her. For their own safety, he carefully moved them off the ledge and sat down on the building's roof, facing away from the tower. Chat held her as she buried her face in his chest and sobbed. "Milady?"
"Oh Chat!" she cried. "I-It was just a dream but-" she pulled back just enough to look up at his face. "I…I wanted it to be real so much!" she admitted. She tried to deny it because she'd been denying it for so long already, but after they shared a deepest heart's desire, how was she supposed to deny that?
Chat looked at her with shock. "You did?" he asked. Then his eyes softened. "But…you don't-"
"Yes I do," she quickly corrected him. "I know I've told you a thousand times that I didn't but-" She paused. She was no longer denying it so she might as well be honest. "You've always been there for me. Stayed by my side, even if I tried pushing you away. And when I lost the miraculous…you were there to pick me up and give me hope again," she explained before giving him a watery smile.
Chat returned the smile for a moment but it quickly dropped when he remembered something. "What about the other boy?" he asked. She'd told him awhile ago that the main reason she couldn't return his affect was because she was in love with someone else.
Ladybug glanced away for a second. "I think he's better off just being my friend," she told him, looking him in the eye again. Adrien hadn't showed any interest in her in that way so far and after everything she and Chat had been through, it was clear what her heart wanted. "He never saw me that why anyway," she lamented.
Chat frowned. How could anyone not see her the way he sees her? But on the other hand, he was glad that she was over him. Whoever he was. "Then he's a fool," he said. Ladybug looked back up at him. Careful of his claws, Chat wiped away a few tears from under her eyes. "Milady, are you sure?" he asked hopefully.
Ladybug smiled at him. "Completely sure," she answered confidently. "I love you, Chat Noir."
Chat smiled, on the brink of tears now too, but happy ones. "I love you too, Ladybug."
With them both calm, the pair moved back to the edge of the building and swung their legs over the side. But this time, they sat close enough where Ladybug could rest her head on Chat's shoulder while his arm was wrapped around her, holding her close.
Maybe they'll get their fantasy back someday, for reals this time. But for now, they were just going to enjoy the sunset together.
Short one but I'm glad it was. It's rare for me when one of these turns out this brief. This idea was the last one I came up with for this month anyway. (Meaning, I was unsure about it. My 7th prompt was almost #3 but the idea got away from me and didn't fit the prompt anymore, so I changed it to this). The others I'm a bit more certain/confident about.
Next chapter will be for the 9th. See u then =^.^=
