It was a late evening in ACME Acres. Furrball was doing his usual nightly routine of digging around a dumpster for scraps.

"Another night, another dumpster." He sighed to himself.

As he was fishing out an empty tuna can, he heard a voice singing "Sweet Escape". He looked around for the singer and saw a gray cat with a big dog. The cat was the one singing. She was a really good singer who also seemed to be homeless like him. Perhaps Furrball should talk to her, even though there's the dog next to her.

"Hey Rita, look!" Exclaimed the dog when he saw Furrball. "It's another dog! He kind of looks like you!"

The gray cat, who was apparently named Rita, saw Furrball.

"Yeah, he kind of does." She said.

Furrball was confused. He wasn't a dog. He went over to talk to them.

"Actually, I'm a-" He started.

"Dog!" Rita cut off, before whispering to him: "Play along."

Furrball looked even more confused.

"So, you're also looking for a home?" Rita asked.

"Um... yeah." Furrball replied. "The only long-lasting home I had is when I lived with Elmyra."

"Ooh." Winced Rita. "Tough break. I guess you and I aren't much different, eh handsome?"

A blush appeared on Furrball's face upon hearing Rita call him that.

"Say, since we have a mutual goal, why don't you travel with us?" Rita offered.

"Tempting, but I can't leave ACME Acres." Furrball replied. "This place is my home, even if I don't have one."

"Eh." Rita shrugged. "Who knows? Perhaps we'll meet again someday, or better yet, find a perfect home for all of us."

She kissed Furrball's cheek before she and the dog walked away with Rita continuing to sing "Sweet Escape". Furrball's face turned red from the kiss on his cheek. He had just met a nice cat with a nice singing voice. Well, and a dog who thought he was a dog. But oh well, a dog mistaking him for a dog is a lot better than a dog constantly harming him.
