"Wow guys! Look at all your cool stuff!" Sprig said, referring to the small pile of belongings the humans had on them. He picked up a pair of nail clippers. "What's this? Ah, I get it, it's a torture device." "Um, Sprig, that's a nail clipper." Connie corrected. "Oh, ok, ok, sure. Oh! How bout this? What does this do?" Sprig asked, holding up a bike pump. He then proceeded to put the tube in his mouth and pump, causing his head to inflate like a balloon. "It's painful!" he said cheerfully, muffled by being unable to open his mouth. He took his mouth off and flew around like a balloon that was let go. "Oh and this." He held up a pen and began rapidly clicking it. "Oh I love this. This is amazing." "You know what? You can keep it." Anne said. "And this!" Sprig said, grabbing Steven's ukulele. "Is this a weapon? RAAAGGHH!" He ran at the wall and prepared to hit it. Steven got in front of him and yelled "No! It's an instrument!" "Really? I've never seen one like this before. It's so- glossy!" "Here, I'll show you!" Steven said, playing a tune on the ukulele. "Whoooooah." Sprig said in amazement. Suddenly, they heard a bell from upstairs. "Kids! Chow time!" Hop Pop yelled down to them. Upstairs, the kids (and Amethyst) were sitting at the table, chanting "Time to eat!" repeatedly. "Hold on kids- and lady- hold on." Hop Pop said before sliding them all bowls of green slop with live bugs. Amethyst downed her immediately. The humans were much more reluctant. Steven managed to force his down, and Connie slipped hers to Amethyst, who promptly downed it. Anne however, took one look at the food before saying "You know what, I think I'll pass." and pushing the bowl away. "Oh, is my food not good enough for the princess?" Hop Pop asked sarcastically. Anne responded to this by saying "Well if I'm the princess, then your the king of bad cooking." Everyone gasped at this (Except Garnet she just let out a small laugh.) and Sprig dropped his spoon. All the other kids then began cheering Anne on. "Steven!" Pearl admonished, "why are you encouraging this behavior? It is-" Garnet cut her off. "Let them be Pearl." she said. "But Garnet!" Pearl protested before relenting. Hop Pop, having recovered from the shock of being talked back to, tried to come up with a comeback. "Oh yeah? Well you- I-"
"What's the matter Hop Pop? Frog in your throat?" "Oh she got you again!" Sprig exclaimed. "Oh, dang it!" Hop Pop exclaimed, throwing down his spoon. "You know what? I'm gonna take a nap. I can't believe this. I feed you, I house you, and this is how you repay me? If you don't shape up soon, I'm throwin you all out!" Hop Pop then went into his room and slammed the door. Pearl immediately began panicking. "Anne, what did you do?! We still don't know the etiquette of this world! We could easily slip up, and get kicked out, and GET SHATTERED-" "Pearl! Its fine. He's probably just grumpy. Look watch- I'm Hop Pop, and I cook bad and have a temper problem!" Anne said. The kids (and Amethyst) all giggled. "Oh, my turn!" Amethyst said, shapeshifting into Hop Pop. "Old, old, old, boring, boring, boring." She said dancing around. This got even more laughs out of the kids. Anne then walked over to Hop Pops canes and grabbed one, using it in her continued imitations. "Eat your aphids, don't play with them! Elbows off the table! Sometimes I wonder why I even bother putting up with you at all!" As she said this, she swung the cane at the table, breaking the top off. Sprig and Polly gasped, horrified. "Oopsies. Guess I don't know my own strength, right guys?" The Plantars just stared at Anne horrified, while Pearl had a panic attack in the corner. "You guys ok?" Anne asked, concerned. "What's the big deal? It's just one cane." "Yeah, he's got, like, three more dude." Amethyst added. "That wasn't just any cane." Sprig said, as he and Polly walked over to Anne. "It was Hop Pops special cane." As he said this, he pointed at a picture of Hop Pop leaning on the cane. "What's special about it?" Steven asked in a worried tone as he and Connie joined the other kids. "It passed down from his father Hop Poppity Pop, all the way from his father Hop-and-Lock-Drop Soppity Pop." "Oh!" Anne said, terrified. "You guys gotta help me! He's gonna kick us out the second he finds out about this! I cannot go back to living in a cave!" "And I liked having food again…" Steven added. "Yeah, yeah, that too." Anne said dismissively. "Don't worry guys. We'll do whatever it takes to help you." Sprig assured. "Eh, count me out." Polly said. "Polly!" Sprig scolded. "What!? I hardly know them!" Polly defended. "Would you help for one of these?" Anne asked, pulling out a candy bar. Polly gasped. "Candy from another world!? Lady, you've got yourself a deal." Pearl, finally composing herself, interrupted. "Yes, yes, good we're all on board. Now let's do this before he comes back!" She said frantically. After a failed attempt at fixing the cane themselves, Anne suggested getting someone else to fix it. "Anne, you're a genius! We'll just take it to Leopold Loggle, the woodsmith. He loves wood! Almost a little too much." "I'll stay and distract him if he returns." Garnet said. And so the odd group left to see Loggle and make sure Anne and the Crystal Gems didn't get kicked out within a week.
