Out of breath, I quietly knocked on the door to Vesta's house and waited to be let inside; hoping to maybe buy some more new seeds or fertilizer from her for my farm.
That was close. I'm so glad I didn't have to explain more about the fortune Chris gave me with Nami listening, I would have just-
Matthew's voice interrupted my thoughts as he slowly let the door creek open and I was taken aback. "Hey." His voice was quiet as usual as his icy-blue eyes gazed down into mine, him next letting me inside.
I looked around for Vesta inside their home but she was nowhere to be found. "Oh, uh... Thanks. Vesta isn't here?"
"No, just me..." he muttered. "Vesta's in the city today and is staying overnight there with a friend. Uh... Did you need to buy something today?"
Usually I don't buy seeds from Matthew, I try to avoid him when I can to be honest. He just seems always in a bad mood and I don't want to bother him, so I usually buy from either Vesta or Cecelia in general, but sometimes I do buy from him.
To my surprise, his cheeks began to turn rosy-red, and he started to look around all nervous. "It's uh, also nice to see you... I guess."
My emerald eyes grew wide and almost launched out of my sockets. WHAAAAAAAAT?! Why is he blushing now?! First Lumina suddenly seems to like me, and now he has a crush on me too?! Am I crazy? He's never said a thing like this to me before! ...I thought Matthew had his eyes only for Cecelia?! I-
The door abruptly swung open hard and revealed... Rock.
I was beyond bewildered. Since when does Rock come here?!
Rock walked in with a big-dumb haughty smirk plastered all over his face as both Matthew and I twitched our eyes in annoyance.
"W-What are you doing here?!" I demanded somewhat stammering.
"I came to visit to see if Cecelia was lonely," Rock answered with a smirk as he raised his eyebrows repeatedly and he stared right at Matthew; obviously trying to mess with him.
Infuriated, Matthew took a step forward while clenching his fists and protectively hissed, "You stay away from her!"
Rock chuckled while flipping his blond hair and shrugged his shoulders. "Matthew, Matthew... I know you're always jealous of me and stuff, but instead you should redirect your jealousy into gratitude - because I could totally help you be just as good as me with the ladies if you just ask The Rock nicely and-"
"I don't need your help!" Matthew seethed and he put his hands in his pockets as a way to compose himself, him glaring menacingly at Rock. "Now get out of my sight before I throw up, you punk. I don't have time for your stupid nonsense today."
"You're just bitter because Cecelia doesn't love you back!" Rock retorted as it seemed to hit a nerve with Matthew, he was now staring pure daggers into the blond-haired imbecile. Rock flipped his hair once more, smirking like the idiot he is as he continued on with spewing more tomfoolery, "It's too bad you don't have the same charm that effortlessly gets all the ladies like I do..."
The blond moron then glanced at me while flashing me a smile revealing his teeth, a sparkle even appearing on his pearly-whites. "Isn't that right, Babe? Aren't I irresistible to any woman with my charm?"
"I feel like you're delusional... And that you hit on anything that is female at this point..." I muttered, pure annoyance oozing in my voice.
A look of disgust quickly consumed Rock's face and he shook his head passionately. "GRAGH! Babe, you're WRONG because the only female I'd never put my gorgeous moves on would be NAMI - my mortal enemy right next to Matthew - GROSS!" Rock hollered insistently while waving his fists, him scowling so hard that I thought his face was gonna stay that way permanently.
"You're a total menace to this town with that big mouth of yours, now get out of here already!" Matthew hissed, him getting angrier by the second.
Rock crossed his arms and shook his head. "Pfft! I don't really care what you have to say to me Mr. Sourpuss Emo, you're like a pebble compared to me - the big ROCK! Now, is Vesta here? I wanted to see if she could give me some free seeds so I could sell them-"
"GET. OUT."
Pissed, Matthew suddenly grabbed Rock by the shirt, and before he could do anything else, I rushed in between them, and broke Matthew's grip on Rock.
"Hey, hey! Settle down you two! ...Have you two always hated each other this much?!" I asked hurriedly, mild sadness could be heard in my tone of voice.
"YES." They both said in unison absolutely fuming, glaring right at each other.
"Years ago, Matthew had the audacity to try to steal my hair gel too!" Rock roared while clenching his fist. "He's just as bad as Nami! But, I don't blame him because at the same time his hair is always a MESS!"
"And you're a total mouth breather!" Matthew fumed, his blood boiling.
From the corner of my eye, I noticed a folded letter had slipped out of Matthew's pocket and had fallen onto the floor. Curious, I picked it up and began reading it. It said:
'Greetings, I'll be blessing your fields tonight with my presence. My hands will swiftly help themselves to your crops as I please. There's nothing you can do to stop my thieving ways, but perhaps, if you call that cute farmer girl to appear, I might just let her be the one to catch me. After all, being in her arms is where I'm meant to be. The choice is yours, hehe.
- Phantom Skye'
I blushed furiously reading the letter; once again imagining myself having an enemies-to-lovers romance like this with Nami, and Matthew then noticed I was reading the letter - he quickly snatched it away from me, letting out a sigh.
"Yeah, I didn't want you to see that... I didn't want to involve you in this mess. I'm assuming he was talking about you being that cute-I mean, being that farmer he mentioned... and not it being Cecelia..." Matthew explained quietly and he let out one aggravated sigh. "I don't know what to do. Vesta's gonna kill me if he succeeds with stealing all of our crops. Earlier I convinced Cecelia to sleep over at Molly's place tonight too, because I didn't want her to worry about this."
I stood there in stunned silence as Matthew then re-read the note again and he muttered under his breath, "What, did a drunk person write this...?"
I held in a bit of laughter at hearing Matthew's comment - because Skye really does sound like a total lunatic. Without warning Rock next snatched the letter out of Matthew's grasp. "Let me see that!"
Rock's eyes quickly scanned the letter and he let out the most dramatic, angry gasp. "Who is this Skye guy?! And why is he acting as if he's the hottest thing to grace this Earth?! ...When in reality it's really ME! And why is he implying that he could steal my Babe's heart?! Only I could have my Babe's affection the way that I do! No one else is capable of that but ME! This guy is DELUSIONAL!"
Oh, the irony.
Annoyed, Matthew and I both flashed Rock one incredulous look. "...Are you done ranting?" he muttered.
I then frantically shook my head at realizing how serious the situation was and turned towards Matthew. "Wait! I think Phantom Skye can be dangerous! He seems to have magical powers... I think he can freeze women! Like, he paralyzed Nami and I one time... And-"
"Matthew and I will use our muscles to catch this buffoon, and then we'll use you as bait, Babe! To lure him in!" Rock then randomly insisted and he smirked, next starting to praise himself in a whisper, "I still got it. The Rock always thinking outside the box... Heh heh."
Matthew snarled. "That's too dangerous! We can't involve Kayla! What if she gets hurt? And-"
"Wait, no! ...Rock, actually might have a point..." I insisted somewhat hesitantly and looked down at the floor as I continued on with speaking, "I mean... He won't be expecting the two of you I think if you both hide in the bushes... I actually think it's a good plan. You two look way stronger than he does, to be honest."
Matthew was quiet for a moment and then he sighed.
"Fine... Come back here later this evening early before the sun sets and we can get in position."
- A few hours later -
As the sun was starting to set, I was running out of my farm and toward the bridge that lead to Vesta's farm. Just as I was approaching the bridge, I saw Nami, and she looked puzzled along with suspicious as to why I was running so fast. It seemed like she could definitely sense that something was wrong.
"Hey, why are you-"
"Sorry! I got to go!" I abruptly blurted out to her without really thinking and I sprinted even faster to Vesta's farm.
Guilt began to invade me. Ohh, man. Why did I say that without thinking? Why do I always do that by accident?! I should have told her about Skye trying to steal again in the valley! ... But, then again, I don't want to risk her getting hurt somehow, I'm sure I can handle this by myself... ...
Shortly, I met with both Rock and Matthew once again, we discussed our plan, and the three of us got in position outside. I stood in the middle of the crop fields as both Rock and Matthew remained hidden behind some bushes on opposite sides of the fields. It then grew dark and the full moon was illuminating the sky. The wind rushed through my brunette hair and I felt my heart pounding from anxiousness. Then I saw him: Skye.
Smirking, in a nonchalant manner he walked right up to me and cupped my chin, him smoothly tilting my face up to look directly into his eyes. It felt like my heart had jumped as he gently caressed my chin.
"Good evening, Beautiful. I see they're using you as bait, huh?"
I froze in fear. Wait, Skye knows-
"NOW!" I suddenly heard Rock shout.
Both Matthew and Rock began charging at Skye; however, Skye got out a tiny bag, opened it, and with smooth swiftness, he threw sand in their eyes in a flash; temporarily blinding them. Skye freaking moved as fast as a freaking ninja!
"GRAGH!" they both groaned in pain as they both fell to the ground while trying to remove the sand out of their eyes.
"You guys!!" I cried in concern. "Are you okay?!"
The two were unresponsive to me as Skye chuckled and dusted himself off. "You really think I'd come unprepared when it came to men? Hehe."
"H-Hey!" I angrily shouted and without thinking, I charged right toward Skye to stop him.
Chuckling, Skye smoothly stepped aside to dodge me, and instead I tackled... NAMI!?
"Eek!" I shrieked as I fell on top of her.
"W-What are you doing here?!" I questioned her as I blushed furiously, the two of us now being undeniably flustered.
"I should be asking you that!" she responded slightly annoyed while blushing but at the same time she sounded concerned. "Now get off of me, you weirdo! Before he-"
And just when I tried to get off of her, I heard:
"CHICK-BEAM... FIRE!"
Suddenly, a white-light consumed us both for a few seconds, and I felt myself paralyzed... right on top of Nami! We both blushed insanely as I stared down at her all wide-eyed, my arms pinning her down to the ground as they wrapped around her wrists. Nami's eyes widened as she was completely flustered and taken aback. An endless armies of butterflies wouldn't stop invading my stomach and my heart pounded like crazy. This is so embarrassing, this is so awkward! Ahhh. MY FACE IS BURNING.
I heard Skye chuckle. "Have fun now ladies. I must admit to you red-headed maiden, I'm a little jealous of that position you're in with my precious farmer girl. Hehe. Maybe it'll be my turn next time with her."
Nami growled at him. "Darn, creep!"
The spicy-tension between Nami and I soon grew more and more as we both struggled to move to no avail for a couple minutes; and our faces and bodies just seemed so... close.
In the background, I heard Skye humming quietly to himself and I could tell he was happily taking all of the crops in Vesta's fields. Matthew and Rock were still struggling to get the sand out of their eyes and I could hear them groaning in pain repeatedly. So much for those two being stronger than Skye, I stupidly underestimated that thief because I thought he was less muscular than them...
Nami did her best to not look into my eyes as she struggled to move for awhile and she was growing more and more frustrated by the second. "Tch! That stupid thief!" she spat irritated. Nami's eyes soon softened and she then looked deeply into mine. "Are you hurt...?" she asked me quietly.
I blushed. "N-No, but... I'm sorry... I'm sorry I'm on top of you like this... I-I mean, I'm not used to being a top anyway- I-I MEAN - I'm not used to being on top of people in general!" I stammered like an idiot, not thinking things through before I spoke. I DIDN'T MEAN TO SAY THE TOP THING AT ALL.
Nami rolled her eyes trying not to look at me and blushed. "You talk too much... I knew what you meant the first time."
Ohmygoshhhhhh. If Nami would have been the one instead to be the one on top of ME - I think I would have died even more from the embarrassment!! I definitely would have fainted from blushing so much by now if she was on top of me instead... ... I'm about to scream from even just thinking about it!!!
As the minutes went by, it seemed Nami and I couldn't help but intently study the details of each other's faces, which only made my heart beat even more. I noticed that we both couldn't stop staring at each other's lips, and... Oh my god this is so gay.
"Well, I think my time here is done," I heard Skye prouldy annouced with a smirk and the thief then walked toward Nami and I, him holding a big sack of the crops he stole as he was eyeing me mischievously.
"Hmmm... I wonder what expression you'd make if I stole a kiss from your pretty face right now, Beautiful. Hehe," Skye playfully remarked to me and he then taunted Nami, "Especially if I did it right in front of my seemingly red-headed rival here... Hehe."
"Y-You better not!" I stammered blushing.
"Stay away from her!" Nami hissed at him menacingly, which honestly made my heart race at her protectiveness. We both struggled to move our bodies as Skye suddenly bent down, his head growing closer to mine. I felt the heat rushing to my cheeks.
"D-Don't kiss me! DON'T MOVE I'M GAY!" I dramatically shrieked without thinking.
Skye paused, his face right in front of mine, and he blinked beyond puzzled. "How-"
Matthew suddenly lurched at Skye; however, Skye was too quick on his feet and dodged him with pure agileness. Matthew fell to his knees, still in pain from the sand in his eyes as he was still struggling to see properly, and his body trembled.
Skye chuckled as he flipped his hair and put a hand in his pocket. "I suppose it's my time to jet now. Hehe. Goodnight, Beautiful. See you later."
The silver haired thief left the farm quickly with much ease. Matthew punched the ground in frustration. Nami and I were still stuck being paralyzed with me on top of her, and Rock... just saw Nami and I in that position.
"GRAGH!!!
Curse you Nami...
Under her... Under her...!
Under my BABE!
IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME!"
Author Note: Also Rock randomly visiting Vesta's, is based on me finding him in the game one time there and I was SO shocked! XD Anyway, this chapter was so fun to write! Please let me know what you guys think and I'll update when I can! :)
