New Wolves Settling in with Mermaid to Boot

After the epic but short battle against the Direwolf pace last night, Laphicet and the demonic women decided to hold a town meeting, having both all fifty citizens of the small town and the Direwolves standing together though some of the people are a little skeptical.

"Is that everyone?" Laphicet asked.

"Yep, all heads are accounted for." Astaroth reported with a salute.

"Guess we can get this meeting started." Belial said.

"Just try not to sound like an old hag." Velvet joked.

"Excuse me! You dare make fun of my beauty in front of the people!" Belial angered.

"Easy Belial, we have the people and Direwolves to address." Laphicet reminded as he also strokes her head in hoping to calm her down which works.

"You're right, can't afford to be distracted by such silly things." Belial said, but glares at Velvet for a few seconds.

"Thank you all for coming, everyone! As you know, this will be about how we're gonna settle with having the Direwolves living with us from now on thanks to the Silver Dragon becoming their new leader." Belial stated the purpose of this meeting.

"(Even though the plan was supposed to scare them away.)" Laphicet thought exclaimed.

"After some talking among us four at home this morning, Laphicet has come up with a new way that will help the Direwolves." Belial gestured to Laphicet.

"Thank you, Belial." Laphicet thanked and stepped forward a few feet.

"Now, what I'm think is about pairing the Direwolves with some of the people for everyone to work together whether it's for patrolling around the town or hard labor like farming." Laphicet announced, surprising everyone.

"You will also use this partnership to be getting to know each other forming bonds, we're all one big pack now, so I expect everyone to do their best with each other." Laphicet added.

"I don't know about this, Laphicet. Are you sure we can trust these pups?" Dyle asked feeling a bit concern with one Direwolf standing next to him.

"I can understand since we attacked you last night but reassure that this Direwolf pack sworn to follow our new great leader to whatever path he wants us to follow and to also earn your trust along the way." The Direwolf with the star mark on his forehead bowed as the other Direwolves did the same.

"I think it'll be okay, now I get to have my own puppy like I always wanted!" Kamoana hugged the Direwolf next to her, making it blush a little.

"At least we know they're not like their leader for conquest in blood." Medissa added.

"The Direwolves may have been the vicious kinds of monsters like last night, but they definitely shown loyalty and promises to help this village, so I say let's give them a chance." Laphicet believed.

"Well, when you put it like that, I guess it would hurt to trust these guys." Dyle petted one Direwolves.

"Then it settles, the Direwolves are now part of our big family." Laphicet declared and everyone cheers including the monster wolves howling of joy.

"You, the one with the star on your forehead, come to me." Laphicet commanded.

"Yes, Master. Is there something you need?" The star Direwolf asked.

"(Looks like I really am gonna have to get use to being called like that.)" Laphicet thought.

"I recalled you standing close to the former leader, as like you close to him." Laphicet remembered from last night.

"We are close because he was my father." The star Direwolf asked.

"I see, and you're not mad about your father being killed and working with the very dragon who killed him. Why is that?" Laphicet asked curiously.

"Well, truth be told, my father always had this ambition of wanting to rule this whole forest with an iron fang and that makes me worry that he has been consume by his ambition too much fearing that one day along with his stubbornness would get him killed." The star Direwolf explained.

"I see, you were worried that he would also bring death to the rest of the pack, and you didn't want that to happen." Laphicet guessed.

"Yes, I didn't want my father to die but at the same time I feel he needed to be stop before he destroys the pack as he doesn't believe in the saying "One for all" and now, I don't feel remorse for him." The star Direwolf stated.

"I see, but he is still your father. You should at least pay your respects to you for raising you." Laphicet pointed out.

"That is true." The star Direwolf nodded.

"Now, I believe it's time we get to make on making more room for you and Direwolves." Laphicet said standing, then he realizes something.

"Oh yeah, I never got your name." Laphicet said.

"My name?" The star Direwolf puzzled.

"Yeah, I can't exactly call you Direwolves which would leave to some confusion with the others." Laphicet explained.

"I guess, but monsters like the Direwolves don't really have names." The star Direwolf revealed.

"Really, no names at all?" Laphicet shocked.

"That's right, monsters don't aren't born with names unlike humans and other certain races though they can still communicate with each other well and they don't confuse with each other too." Velvet explained.

"For example, Dyle didn't always have that name because he was just a Lizardman being with those bandits I told you about." Astaroth mentioned.

"It was I who bestowed him a name consider he would be working for me from now on." Belial bragged with a grin.

"Huh, you making it sound like giving a monster a name sounds more than simple as that." Laphicet noticed.

"That's because it is, giving a monster or anything other creatures even demons names can be a big step for them only if the one who is giving the name is a powerful being such as a Demon Lord like myself or those with a powerful pool of magic inside themselves. Once given a name, the monster evolves into a stronger monster to become better use for their master." Belial explained.

"Whoa, I have no idea that giving names can do so much in this world! It's so amazing!" Laphicet said starstruck.

"Well, at least we'll know you much be knocked out when you give the Direwolves their names." Velvet said though confuse the Silver Dragon boy but decided to ask her about it later.

"So, what do you say? You want a name for yourself and the pack?" Laphicet offered the star Direwolf.

"Oh my, you're serious, aren't you!" the Star Direwolf gasped.

"Of course, I am. I mean not having a name isn't convenient for one's life when they are born into this world." Laphicet nodded with a gentle and cute smile.

"You honor me and the pack with your kindness, Master!" The Star Direwolf bowed with his tail wagging of excitement.

"All Direwolves, come! Master Laphicet is going to give our pack a new name!" The Star Direwolf announced.

All the Dirwolves heard this, and they quickly charged right behind the Star Direwolf, standing strong and waiting for their new name to happen, while also wagging their tails.

"(Okay, monsters getting their own names is pretty exciting to them than I thought.)" Laphicet thought surprised.

"Better be careful with the naming, once you give them one there is no undoing the name." Velvet warned.

"Right, got to think carefully." Laphicet nodded and look back at the Direwolves.

Laphicet thought of a few names though they are just basics like Steve, Joe, Johnny, and Fang Face isn't going to cut it either. Then his attention on the star mark on the one Direwolf's forehead and his thoughts went to thinking about the fire of his silver flame, putting them together has given him the idea of a perfect name for the Star Direwolf.

"Okay, I have thought of a name!" Laphicet announced as the Direwolves wag their tails more.

"You, the leader of the pack shall go first. I thought about by the star mark on your forehead and also thought about my fire, so I thought about your full name shall be Honō no hoshi!" Laphicet said.

"Honō no hoshi, such an odd word yet feels like a burning meaning." The Star Direwolf commented.

"That's because it is, the words are use in a far away land I used to hail from. It means Fire Star; we can also shorten to Hono for a nickname." Laphicet explained.

"Fire Star, such a strong meaning. I will gladly accept the name!" Direwolf happily accepted.

"Okay then, your name shall be Honō no hoshi!" Laphicet declared and the Star Direwolf, now named Honō no hoshi, body glows a little brightly.

"I swear to wear the name with pride!" Hono promised.

"I'm glad to hear that, now to move on with the others." Laphicet smiled, but then he wobbles a bit.

"Whoa, for some reason I feel like I'm tired from running a marathon." Laphicet commented.

"That's due to naming the Direwolves. If it's one or two low class monsters, then it's all good but naming a bunch of monsters or some higher-class monsters can drain most of your magic." Belial explained.

"And it the name you gave him also affected the other Direwolves as well." Velvet pointed out as the other Direwolves are also glowing a little.

"Really? But I only named one of them!" Laphicet shocked.

"It is because a wolf pack like ours think as one, so in way you have also given our pack a name." Hono explained.

"Okay, so does that mean the evolving will happen as well?" Laphicet asked.

"Yeah, but it's not right away. It usually takes a day or two for the evolution to happen after giving a monster a name." Astaroth mentioned.

"Oh, I wonder what they're going to look like when they evolve. I bet it's going to be super exciting and awesome looking." Kamoana hugged her Direwolf again.

"Okay, now with that out of the way, you may all continue to your everyday things and show the Direwolves around the village as well if you want." Laphicet ended the town meeting.

Most of the people went back to their homes and other things they were going to do before the meeting along with the Direwolves spreading throughout the town.

"Master, since you have named the pack and given us a new home. I believe it is only right that I should tell something important." Hono said.

"Umm, what's up, Hono?" Laphicet asked.

"Well, some time ago before my father decided to come this far for his conquest, he stumbled upon some weird looking things we believed to have been use by humans with their advance tools and such." Hono informed.

"Let me guess, he decided to keep them in case one day the pack would be able to use them himself." Velvet said.

"That's right, we buried them close to the cave that used to be our home." Hono nodded.

"I see, with Laphicet making the Direwolves part of the town, those stuff belong to us now." Astaroth realized with a clap of her hand.

"Then I guess we're going out of town for a bit, you will lead us to this cave." Laphicet ordered Hono.

"As you wish, Master Laphicet." Hono bowed.

"Hey, can I come too!" Kamoana asked while riding on her Direwolf and Medissa walking beside her.

"I don't know, the forest is still full of dangerous creatures out there." Belial concerned.

"That's what I've been telling her, but she wanted to feel riding her new friend as soon as possible." Medissa mentioned.

"Please! I promise to behave, and I'll stay very close you too!"' Kamoana said with puppy pleading eyes.

"I don't see why not. It's not going to be a dangerous mission or anything, just to recover some stuff and nothing more." Laphicet said making Kamoana happy.

"Awesome! Did you hear that, Howler! We get go!" Kamoana cheered.

"Howler?" Belial asked.

"It's my own name for this guy, right here. I hope that's okay because I feel like we're going to get along great, and I thought of the name because of wolves like to howl." Kamoana explained.

"If it's okay with Master Laphicet, then I wish you two well." Hono said.

"Sure, Howler for Kamoana it is." Laphciet declared, not noticing the Kamoana's Direwolf glowed a bit.

"We better get to that cave before something else happens." Laphicet flipped his wings.

"Mind if I come along? I know you all will be with Kamoana, but I'm just not sure about letting her go off just yet." Medissa pleaded gently.

"Sure, the more the merrier as they say." Laphicet smiled which suddenly made the mother gasp blushing.

"(What… What was the feeling just now?)" Medissa thought asked herself.

(Later)

Hono leading the others through the woods to the cave where the Direwolves once lived with Laphicet riding on his back, Hono insisted on letting him ride on his back for the feeling of wanting to be a little closer to his Master and Laphicet doesn't mind as he always wanted to ride a wolf back when he was Jo. Velvet, Belial, Astaroth, and Medissa was right behind and besides them while Kamoana is behind the group have the time of her life.

"How far are we to the cave?" Laphicet asked.

"Not much further now, Master. Should be at least a few more miles." Hono answered.

"Wow, I think this is the first time we have ever gone this far in the forest." Astaroth amazed.

"Yes, we might be able to make most of the areas we pasted as an expansion of the town." Belial suggested.

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves, the town is still small to do any expansion right now." Velvet pointed out.

A few minutes later, the group have arrived at a big cave and Hono lead them about thirty feet on the right side to the entrance of the cave.

"Here, this is where we buried the items whenever father or some scouts found in the forest." Hono tapped his paw onto the spot.

"Okay, bring us those items, please." Laphicet asked nicely.

"As you wish, Master." Hono nodded and started digging at a superfast pace and revealing the items.

"Hey, these are weapons." Velvet surprised seeing some spears, swords, and shields.

"Uh, I think there is something else here." Belial picked up two items to be shiny sphere, then one shined onto Belial and a giant phantom-like image of her appear.

"No way, those are broadcasting!" Astaroth amazed.

"Broadcasting orbs?" Laphicet asked.

"They magic items that can allow a person to create the giant illusion of yourself like the one you're seeing right now. They're very convenient for uses of big announcements for special events and such." Belial explained.

Then Howler notice a scent in the air which Kamoana saw him pointing up his nose in the air a little.

"What is it, Howler? Do you smell something?" Kamoana asked then Howler headed off to follow the scent.

"Kamoana! Where are you going?" Medissa asked worry.

"Howler smell something that way!" Kamoana responded loud.

"Hono, what's in that direction?" Velvet asked.

"That would be a river where we would drink for thirst." Hono answered.

"Something must be at that river then, let's go." Laphicet charged with the others following.

Howler and Kamoana arrived at the river as the Direwolf keep sniffing the ground trying to find what has caught his nose until Kamoana spotted something on the shoreline, or three things.

"Howler, I think those three are what you've been sniffing." Kamoana pointed at and they approach closely.

"Kamoana!" Laphicet called out as he and the others caught up.

"Guys, you are not going to believe what we just found!" Kamoana excited.

"What did you two find?" Belial asked.

"Mermaids!" Kamoana answered loudly.

"Mermaids?" Everyone surprised.

"Yeah, real mermaids! Look!" Kamoana gestured to the mermaids.

They got a good look seeing that they are indeed five mermaids though they look a little more monster appearance than humanoid like the usual mermaids Laphicet thought they are, each of them are in different colors too. From left to right, one pink mermaid, one yellow mermaid, another pink mermaid though lighter, one dark blue mermaid, and one orange mermaid with the face being a bit more human-like.

"Wow, real-life mermaid and I'm seeing them for the first time!" Laphicet excited.

"It would seem you have a fondness for mermaids, Master." Hono commented.

"Well, they are the cutest." Laphicet giggled blushing.

"Cute? But I'm cute too." Belial pouted.

"(Why do I feel jealous all the sudden.)" Velvet thought pouted too and Astaroth started feeling the same.

"Come on, we got to help these mermaids. We'll take them back with us and patch up whatever injuries they have." Laphicet ordered and looks at the orange mermaid.
