AN: Not much to put here, but whenever a chapter is in Harry's POV, Loki will be called Professor Ikol since they don't know yet that she is Loki.

Chapter 7: Dementor

Harry spent the rest of his summer vacation at Hermione's house. Her parents agreed after a ten-minute talk with Dumbledore. Harry didn't know what they were talking about because they went to another room. Harry was sure Dumbledore hadn't explained everything to them since they didn't seem aware Harry had used magic on Marge Dursley, only that the Dursleys had kicked him out because he got in an argument with a relative that was visiting. They also agreed to have wards put around their house with the promise they'd only be up until school started, and gave the okay for Dumbledore to have people watching their home as long as they kept to themselves unless something happened and out of sight of their neighbors or risk them calling the police because of strange people in the neighborhood.

Hermione's parents were nice but a little strict. They gave Harry rules to follow. He was not to show any disrespect towards them, Hermione, or anyone who visited their home. If they asked for his help with something, they expected him to do it, and if he was in Hermione's room with her, the door was to be kept open. Harry agreed to every one of them, which satisfied her parents, who seemed to feel sorry for him. After Dumbledore left, Mrs. Granger told him he could shower if he wanted. Harry gladly accepted. Afterward, he fell asleep on the sofa in their living room, feeling drained of energy by then. All three Grangers just let him sleep, waking him around seven when dinner was ready.

When they said help if they asked, they hadn't meant doing much, he helped Hermione load and unloaded the dishwasher some nights, and he helped Mr. Granger do some yard work a couple of times and had to keep the room he was staying in neat, and clean. One weekend Hermione had an Aunt and Uncle from her mom's side visit, and Harry meant two of her cousins, an older cousin who was seventeen; he was nice enough, struck up a conversation with Harry, and seemed to have an obsession with Iron Man, his younger sister, who was sixteen and very pretty had a snobby attitude and turned her nose up at Harry's shabby-looking clothes. Hermione's parents had a fair amount of friends and relatives that would show up unannounced. Various friends or family would show up to keep an eye on Hermione and Harry when her parents went to work, mostly Hermione's grandmother, who Harry found hilarious, and Hermione would be embarrassed by, often crying out "Gran" For a seventy-some-year-old lady she knew an awful lot of profanity, but no matter who it was Harry and Hermione was never left at the Granger house alone.

One Saturday before the start of the term, Harry, Hermione, and her parents met up with Hagrid at the Leaky Cauldron so they could go into Diagon Ally to buy their school supplies. Harry also got a new cauldron, a cage for Hedwig, and a new broom for Quidditch. There was a new type of broom out known as a Firebolt. Unfortunately, Harry was afraid to spend too much, so he just replaced his Numbers 2000 with a new broom of the same model, and he also made sure to buy new robes and replace the other school supplies he left at the Dursley's and Harry, of course, bought a new trunk. His new one was nice, black with gold term. Hermione bought all her new school supplies and a cat named Crookshanks, who was an orange color with a pug face.

The moment Harry and Hermione walked through the barrier on September first, Harry heard Ron shout their names, and he came hurrying over to them. Mrs. Wesaley was not far behind. She hugged Harry, then mentioned Dumbledore talking to them, and assured Harry he was more than welcome at their house during the summers. After greeting Hermione, she rushed them all on the train. Where they found the only seats available were in a compartment with a guy covered with a cloak and lying against the window asleep.

Harry tried to put his trunk away as quietly as possible, along with Hedwig in her new cage, and Ron and Hermione did the same. However, Hermione kept the carrier with Crookshanks in her lap as she and Ron sat in the seat across from Harry, who sat next to the sleeping guy.

"Finally, on our way to Hogwarts, where I can get away from Percy," Ron said. "Ever since our Hogwarts letters came and Percy found out he is Head Boy, he's been the worst."

"Percy was made Head Boy?" Hermione asked, just as Crookshanks started letting out a loud hiss. "Good for him."

"What the hell is in that?" Ron demanded, pointing toward the carrier.

"Crookshanks, he's my new cat," Hermione explained, "I bought him when Harry and I went to Diagon Ally for our school supplies." Crookshanks hissed again, his eyes looking at Ron. "Maybe I should let him out."

"You will not." Ron snapped, "That thing looks as if it wants to eat me, and what about poor Scabbers, eh?"

Ron patted his shirt pocket where Scabbers was curled up asleep; Hermione frowned but listened and left Crookshanks in his carrier, moved over a little, and sat it in the seat on the other side of her, once out of sight of Ron. He calmed down and stopped hissing.

"Why did you buy a cat anyway?" Ron demanded, "You could have gotten an owl."

"I had planned on getting an owl, but the woman in Magical Menagerie said Crookshank had been there for ages, and no one wanted him," Hermione said.

"I wonder why," Ron said sarcastically.

"Crookshanks just has to get used to you, Ron, then he'll like you, you'll see," Hermione said, just as the guy next to Harry snorted, they turned to him, but he didn't make another sound and continued to sleep.

"Who do you reckon he is?" Ron asked in an almost whisper.

"Professor R.J. Lupin," Hermione said, pointing to a suitcase in the storage compartments. Ron glanced up at it.

"I wonder what he teaches?" Ron asked.

"That's obvious," Hermione whispered, "There's only one vacancy each year, isn't there? Defense Against the Dark Arts."

"I hope he's up for it. It looks like one good hex will finish him off," Ron said, glancing at Lupin. "Anyway, Harry, what the bloody hell happened at the Dursleys? Mum wouldn't tell me anything."

"Vernon's sister Marge came for a visit, and I hate her. She is such a..." Harry took a breath and continued, explaining how Marge's favorite activity was to belittle him and talk bad about his dead parents and explained what happened the night he got kicked out, how he walked from Surry to London and called Hermione for help, how Snape found him at the cafe and his conversation with Dumbledore, by the end of his story, Ron was looking at him with wide eyes.

"You walked from Surry to London?" Ron demanded, "That had to take hours."

"Since I kept taking stops, it took me twenty-one hours," Harry said, running his hand through his hair.

"Why didn't you fly on your broom?" Ron demanded, "Or take the Knight Bus."

"Muggles would have seen if I rode my broom. Besides, I had to leave it at the Dursleys." Harry explained, "And I don't even know what the Knight Bus is."

"It's the way a lot of wizards get around, you just stick out your wand, and it appears." Ron explained, "Triple-decker bus, but I warn you, it's not a good idea to take if you get motion sickness."

"Harry just told you he froze his aunt, and a killer is after him, and the most shocking thing to you is he walked a long distance?" Hermione demanded.

"This is Harry Potter. Someone is always trying to kill him," Ron said, Hermione narrowed her eyes at him, and Harry snorted.

"Only Voldemort," Harry replied. "He possessed Quirrell, and Lockheart just wanted to wipe our memories."

"Oh, Harry, you'll have to be careful this year, especially during Hogsmeade visits." Hermione said, "Don't go looking for trouble."

"I don't go looking for trouble." Harry denied, "Trouble usually finds me."

"How thick would Harry have to be to look for a nutter who wants to kill him?" Ron demanded.

"Because it's not like he's ever put himself in danger before," Hermione replied.

"I'm lucky I wasn't expelled or worse after what happened to Marge. I'm not aiming to do anything else stupid this year," said Harry, "You don't have to worry, Hermione. I'm not going to look for anyone, and I don't plan to get into trouble."

"But they'll catch Black soon, won't they?" Hermione asked, "They have muggles looking for him and everything."

"Muggles still haven't even caught that Loki bloke." Ron pointed out, "And he's not even a wizard. I doubt they can catch Sirius Black."

"Loki is supposed to be a God, Ron. I'm not sure if that's true, but he's not from this planet and seemed to have some powers. Black is just a normal wizard. Loki is more dangerous," Hermione argued.

"I doubt Loki is a God or from another planet," Ron argued. "Loki was a muggle who could do fancy muggle tricks and had muggle weapons. Black is a wizard; he's more dangerous."

"Ron, just because the Daily Prophet is now trying to get us to believe that doesn't mean it's true," Hermione said. "And just because Loki is wanted by muggles and not wizards doesn't mean he's not dangerous."

"I didn't say he wasn't; I'm just saying, as a wizard, the only one to ever break out of Azkaban at that, Sirius Black has to be more dangerous and much harder to catch," Ron replied.

"Guys, let's talk about something else," Harry spoke over them before the two broke out in an argument. Thankfully they listened, and the conversation turned to Hogsmeade.

"It's the last all-wizarding village left in Britain," Hermione said, "It'll be interesting to see."

"Who cares about that? I want to go to Honeydukes; it's a sweet shop, and they have all kinds of amazing sweets, and then there is Zonkos, the joke shop." Ron said, "But, Harry, did you get your permission slip signed?"

"My permission slip is signed, but I have no idea if it's any good or not, with the Dursleys kicking me out."

"I'm surprised they signed it for you," Hermione said.

"Well,"

"Harry, what did you do?" Hermione demanded.

"I knew they would never sign it, so I signed it for them." Harry shrugged.

"You forged their signature, Harry. That's illegal," Hermione said.

"It's just a school permission slip. I doubt it's something I'll get thrown in jail over. Besides, I don't know if it'll work now or not." Harry said.

"Give it to McGonagall, Harry. She's bound to allow you to go, considering what happened; if McGonagall says no, you can ask Fred and George, I bet they know a way you can sneak out of Hogwarts." Ron suggested.

"Ron, I don't think Harry should be sneaking out of school, not with Sirius Black around, " Hermione said.

"We'll be with Harry in Hogsmeade Black wouldn't dare.." Ron said.

"Oh, Ron, don't talk rubbish." snapped Hermione. "Black's already murdered many people on a crowded street. Do you think he will hesitate to kill Harry because we are with him?"

"You two can be rather frightening sometimes." Harry joked.

"Harry." Hermione snapped.

Harry laughed, and their conversation turned to other things about forty minutes after the trolley lady came around to offer sweets. Harry noticed the train felt as if it was slowing down.

"Hang on," Hermione said. "Are we slowing down?"

"What? No, of course not." Ron said. Soon as he said it, the train started going so slow it was barely moving, then it suddenly stopped, making them jerk in their street.

"Why have we stopped?" Hermione demanded, "We can't be there." She stood and went over to look out the window. "Do you think we have broken down?"

"I don't know?" Harry asked, getting up and looking out of the compartment door, a dozen other students doing the same. A few compartments down, he saw Draco Malfoy's head sticking out his compartment, and behind him, one of the Weasley twins was looking out his. He turned their way and started making faces at the back of Malfoy's head, causing Harry to laugh.

"Why are you laughing?" Hermione asked. Harry turned to answer her, but at that moment, the lights went out, plunging them into total darkness.

"Okay, that's a bit creepy." Ron voiced, "I can't see a thing."

"Why is it suddenly so cold?" Hermione demanded.

"Cold?" Harry asked. He didn't feel much of a temperature change.

"Ouch, Ron, you stepped on my foot." Hermione snapped. Ron had accidentally stepped on it as he got up to look out the window, which was hard to do because they were foggy.

"Something is moving out there," Ron said as he wiped off the window to try and see out. "I think people are coming aboard. At least, I think it's people."

"What do you mean you think it's people?" Hermione demanded. "What else would it be?"

"I don't know, but all I can see is dark hooded cloaks floating around," Ron said.

"What?" Hermione looked out the window again just as a scream came from towards the front of the compartment.

"Why did someone scream?" Ron demanded.

"I don't know," said Harry " just as there was another scream, he pulled his wand out of his pocket, "I'm going to find out."

"Harry, wait," Hermione rushed forward and grabbed Harry's arm, "You don't know what's going on. It could be dangerous."

"People could be hurt," Harry argued as more screams and shouts.

"Hermione is right," Ron agreed. "We can't even see in here."

"Quiet!" A hoarse voice suddenly called out. Followed by "Nox," There was a movement where Lupin was as he tossed the cloak off himself and got to his feet, holding up his lit wand.

"Listen to your friends, Harry, " Lupin told him, "Stay here. I'll see what's going on."

Hermione suddenly gasped, backing up a little as Harry felt a shiver go down his spine. He turned a little to see a thing floating in the open door behind him. The thing reached the ceiling, and its face was completely hidden beneath its hood. Harry wanted to back up. He tried to raise his wand at the thing, but he was frozen in place as he felt nothing but fear and despair. There was sudden screaming in his head as the thing lunged forward. Harry's eyes rolled into the back as he fell backward. Ron screamed out what the hell before everything went dark.

"Harry!" Harry!" Are you all right?" Hermione's voice cried into Harry's ears, then someone, most likely her, was smacking Harry in the face.

"W-what?" Harry mumbled, raising a little and looking around. The cloak thing was gone, the lights were back on, and the train was again moving. He was, for some reason, on the floor. Ron and Hermione kneeled next to him, and Professor Lupin stood above them, watching. Harry felt sick as he pushed his glass upon his face and sat up. Lupin reached down and helped him stand, then set into a seat, as Ron and Hermione sat on either side of him.

"What happened?" Harry asked, looking around. He felt a little weird.

"You turned blue, mate," Ron said. Harry frowned at him.

"What?" Harry demanded; great, would he do that every time he got angry or scared?

"Your eyes turned red, too," Ron added. They all suddenly jumped when there was a loud snapping noise. Professor Lupin was now breaking off large pieces of chocolate, then handed each one a piece.

"Eat it. Chocolate helps the effects of a dementor," Lupin explained.

"A dementor?" Harry asked."Is that what that thing was?"

"Yes, they guard Azkaban. They came in looking for Sirius Black. Eat the chocolate; it does help. I'll be right back." Lupin left the compartment.

"Are you sure you're okay, Harry?" Hermione asked. Harry nodded and looked down at the chocolate.

"Why did you turn blue? With red eyes, since when can you do that?" Ron asked.

Harry shrugged, he didn't feel like explaining it, and Hermione turned to explain to Ron about the chamber and how Dumbledore thanks the basilisk venom triggered some dormant creature gene, and that's how Harry can now freeze things, though he hasn't figured out how to control it.

"Harry, you could have told me about that," said Ron. "I wouldn't have thought any less of you. Maybe you can learn to control these icy powers, do us a favor, and freeze Malfoy." Harry smiled a little at that.

"Your eyes were very frightening," Hermione said. "But they and the blue skin were interesting; I'll have to research magical creatures. There is bound to be a book in the library with that kind of creature."

"I'm not sure I want to know," Harry said.

"We wanted to help you from the Dementor but couldn't get ourselves to move; something about that thing paralyzes you; you can't move or think properly," Hermione said.

"I felt weird, as if I'll never be happy again," Ron said.

They all fell silent as if remembering what it felt like when that thing came in. After a moment, Remus Lupin came back and saw they hadn't eaten any of the chocolate, he made a joke about it not being poisoned to get them to eat it, and Harry had to admit it did make him feel better, as they rode on to Hogwarts in almost complete silence.

When the train made it to Hogsmeade station, Harry moved as if he was moving in slow motion, barely aware of standing and moving along the corridor to the exit. He woke up a little when the outside air hit his face. As Harry stepped off the train and onto one of the carriages, Hermione and Ron joined him. When they reached the school, Harry felt much more like himself as they got out of the carriage and headed toward the castle.

"You fainted, Potter? Is what everyone is saying correct? You fainted?" Draco Malfoy seemed to have come out of nowhere to block their way to the giant castle doors.

"Shove off, Malfoy." Ron snapped.

"Did you faint, Weasley, or you, Granger?" Malfoy laughed. "None of us fainted. So much for Gryffindor's bravery."

"How about I show you some bravery?" Harry said, walking up the steps to get in Malfoy's face as he pulled his wand out of his pocket. He usually just ignored Malfoy or gave snappy comments, but right now, he was in no mood to put up with his mouth.

"Harry," Hermione said, surprised, as she reached out and stopped him.

"Aww, was Potter scared of the big bad dementor?" Malfoy asked. Harry gripped his wand tighter but didn't raise it, taking a few deep breaths. It would do Harry no good to get in trouble because of Draco Malfoy.

"I do hope we are not fighting." An amused-sounding voice said behind them. They all turned around to see a pretty woman standing there with long black hair, she was tall and thin, with slightly curvy hips, and wore a short black dress, a snakeskin belt with a wand tucked in it, and tall black leather boots on top of her head sat a witch hat with gold horns. When the woman looked at Harry, her amused expression dropped, and what could only be described as a dozen different emotions flashed across her face before she was able to school her features to an emotionless mask. Standing next to her was a large black dog. He barked and ran up to Harry, wagging his tail and walking around him as if he was checking him over.

"Umm, hello." Harry greeted the dog awkwardly as he ran his hand through his hair. For some reason, his actions made a smile grow on the woman's face.

"No, ma'am, there's no fighting at all," Malfoy answered, smirking. The woman's eyes snapped towards him, annoyed as her smile dropped.

"You need to learn to lie better." She told him.

"What?" Malfoy demanded.

"You might want to go on in the castle before you get in trouble for trying to start a fight with Harry." She said, and Malfoy's smirk dropped, and his eyes narrowed.

"Go ahead. My father will hear about it," said Malfoy. "You do know who my father is?"

"I have no idea who you are. How in the nine realms will I know who your father is?" She demanded, her tone clearly stating she thought Malfoy an idiot.

"Malfoy, Draco Malfoy," Malfoy announced, clearly thinking that would impress her, "My father happens to be Lucius Malfoy."

"Lucius Malfoy?" She asked, then shrugged. "Never heard of him."

Harry smiled as Ron laughed; Malfoy's face turned red, and he acted as if he was going to take a step toward the woman when the dog blocked his path and gave a warning growl. Malfoy glared as he turned and entered the castle, Crabb, and Goyle following.

"What's going on?" Remus Lupin suddenly appeared frowning at the dog, then looked at the woman suspiciously. She turned to Lupin and smiled at him.

"Remus, I got your owl." She said, "Jinx and I wanted to make sure..umm, everything was okay," the dog, now apparently named Jinx, left Harry and ran to Lupin, who moved back to avoid getting licked on the hand. The suspension on his face turned into one of understanding before he turned to Harry.

"Harry, why don't you three go on in the Great Hall while I speak with Professor Ikol," Lupin said. The dog barked, "And Jinx."

"Yes, Professor," Hermione answered, and Harry turned to follow her and Ron into the castle. As he pocketed his wand when they entered the Great Hall, they went right to the Gryffindor table and sat across from Fred and George, with Harry in the middle, Ron on his right, and Hermione on his left.

"If Lupin is the new Defense teacher, then who is that woman that talked to us?" asked Ron. "Lupin called her Professor Echo."

"Ikol." Hermione corrected, her eyes scanning the Head table, "I don't see Professor Kettleborn; maybe she's replacing him."

"Who?" Harry asked.

"Professor Kettleborn, he was the Care of Magical Creatures Professor," Hermione said. Harry shrugged, still not knowing who Hermione was talking about.

They stopped talking as Professor McGogongall brought the sorting hat and the stool out to start sorting the first years into their houses. Then Dumbledore stood to make his announcement. Harry suddenly felt as if he was being watched and looked up at the teacher's table to see the woman from outside looking at him. When she noticed him looking at her, she smiled and waved. Harry looked away and turned his attention to Dumbledore.

"Welcome to another year at Hogwarts," Dumbledore greeted. "I have a few things to say, and one of them is very serious. I think it best to get it out of the way. You might have noticed this year. Our school is playing host to a few dementors of Azkaban, who are here on the Ministry of Magic business. They are stationed on either entrance to the grounds, and I must make it clear no one is to leave the school without permission. Dementors are not to be fooled by tricks or disguises, or even invisibility cloaks. I, therefore, warn every one of you not to give them a reason to harm you. I look to our head boy and girl to ensure students don't run afoul of the dementors."

Percy Weasley, who was sitting a few seats from Harry, puffed out his chest, showing off his Head Boy badge. Harry resisted the urge to roll his eyes.

"On a happier note," Dumbledore continued, "I am pleased to welcome three new teachers to our ranks."

"Three," Hermione whispered.

"First Professor Remus Lupin, who has kindly consented to fill the post of Defense Against the Dark Arts," Dumbledore announced. Professor Lupin stood and slightly nodded before quickly sitting back down; a few people clapped, and Professor Ikol's dog barked.

"As to our second new Professor, well, sadly, Professor Kettleburn, our former Care of Magical Creatures Professor, retired at the end of last year. However, I am delighted to say that Hagrid will be filling in as his replacement, along with his gatekeeping duties."

"But...then what is Professor Ikol teaching?" Hermione asked.

"Now that leaves just one last new teacher," Dumbledore said, "Sadly, another teacher of ours seemed to have decided to retire; Professor Binns just up and disappeared without a trace, so I was forced to find a new History of Magic professor, so please welcome Professor Reigna Ikol, who will be filling that role."

The black-haired woman grinned and stood, she gave a little bow as the students clapped, and Harry saw Fred and George look at each other and smile. He assumed they both found Professor Ikol attractive. Harry seemed to be one of a few near him that wasn't gawking at her like an idiot.

"As you see, Professor Ikol brought along a friend." Dumbledore motioned to the dog. " His name is Jinx. Don't let his size scar you. I was assured he is friendly and well-behaved. Now that the announcements are done, we can dig into our nice feast."

Dumbledore sat as food appeared on the table, and everyone started putting food on their plates as they talked to each other. Harry was just about to take a bite of chicken when Ron hissed in his ear.

"Look at Snape," Ron said. Harry looked to see Snape glaring at Professor Lupin, who was doing a good job ignoring him as he ate. Professor Ikol said something that, of course, Harry couldn't hear but made the staff pause in eating and look their way, and Professor Lupin choked on his food, causing Professor Ikol to pat him on the back as she smiled wildly; Snape's face turned red, and he gave her a look so full of hate Harry was surprised she didn't run.

"I wonder what she said," Hermione mumbled on Harry's other side. He shrugged and went back to his food. Hermione switched to talking about their classes and what they might learn this year when there was a bark, startling the three of them.

"Merlin," Ron cried as Harry turned to look beside him to see Jinx looking up at him, wagging his tail.

"Hello, again," Harry said to the dog, "Are you wanting food?" Harry turned and grabbed a chicken leg and handed it to the dog, who gladly took it, making Harry smile. "You look like the dog I saw around the Dursleys this summer, just less skinny and clean."

"Probably the same breed." Hermione guessed as Harry picked up another piece of chicken and gave it to him.

"Is Jinx bothering you?" Professor Ikol suddenly appeared, making Ron jump again. "Sorry about that, Ron Weasley. I did not mean to frighten anyone."

"How do you know his name?" Hermione asked.

"I recognize him from the paper." Professor Ikol replied, "When his family won the ministry prize, lucky, Egypt is such a fascinating place, with so much rich history, sadly I haven't been there in quite some time."

"It was alright," Ron mumbled, with a mouth full of chicken; Hermione made a face at him, but Professor Ikol looked amused.

"Well, he has the same table matters as my former brother." Professor Ikol commented. Ron's face turned red as Hermione giggled, and their new teacher turned to Harry. "I've been looking forward to meeting you, Harry. Unfortunately, I didn't get to introduce myself outside."

"It's nice to meet you," Harry said politely. "but I don't care for my fame."

"That's understandable, with the connection it has with Voldemort?" Professor Ikol said. Harry was startled a little, not expecting to hear someone say Voldemort.

"Why does your hat have horns?" Harry asked because he wanted to get the conversation off of himself. Hermione scowled at him for being rude, but Professor Ikol gave him a genuine smile.

"They are a symbol of sorcery in my culture." Professor Ikol explained. "Plus, I just like them."

"I think they're neat," Ron said.

"Thank you, Ron; not everyone appreciates our good taste." Professor Ikol said as Jinx barked at her. "Hush you, brat."

"Jinx seems like a nice dog," Harry said. Professor Ikol just smiled as she looked at the staff table.

"Oh my, Professor Snape is giving me a dirty look again. He doesn't like me, does he?" Professor Ikol said, voice full of amusement.

"Snape doesn't like anyone," Harry said.

"He is a grouch, is he not?" Professor Ikol asked.

"He can be a little grumpy," Hermione answered. Professor Ikol turned to her.

"You must be Hermione Granger." Professor Ikol said.

"Yes, but how did you..."

"Know?" Professor Ikol asked. "Your Professors speak highly of you three, well, not all" Professor Ikol's eyes flickered to Snape, then back to them, "Usually good students that have a habit of getting into trouble, I believe was how many described you. I look forward to teaching you, and I hope you enjoy my lessons."

"As long as you don't go on and on about goblin rebellions, I'm okay with whatever you teach," Ron said.

"Ron." Hermione snapped, but Professor Ikol chuckled.

"Do not worry, young Ron, and I will not be teaching you about goblins. The lying, thieving little bastards." She chuckled again at their shocked looks, "Sorry, I probably should not speak like that in front of the students."

"Most professors don't," Hermione said.

"I shall try to remember that." Professor Ikol said, "Well, Jinx and I should probably get back to the head table, so you children can get back to dinner. It was nice meeting you."

"It was nice meeting you," Hermione replied. Jinx barked before walking over to Professor Ikol, who nodded her head at them before turning and heading back to the head table.

"Blimey, she's more beautiful up close," Fred mumbled, watching her walk away.

"She's very nice, and I hope she teaches something interesting," Hermione said.

"Wonder what kind of lessons she'll have," Harry said, looking up at the staff table where Professor Ikol was sitting back in her chair. She looked Harry's way and waved, and he waved back with a grin. He agreed with Hermione. She was friendly and didn't seem to fear Voldemort and said his name as if it were nothing. Harry was looking forward to her classes.

AN: Loki does know of Lucius Malfoy from when they were in Midgard before and just wanted to embarrass Draco for picking on Harry. Fred and George, and a few others, do have a little crush on their new professor; it makes sense Loki is gorgeous in either form. I have based her looks on the real Lady Loki from the comics. Sirius blocked Malfoy's when he wanted to curse Loki (not knowing she was a teacher at the time). He can be protective of Loki, but it is more for Malfoy's own safety and Loki not getting in trouble than to protect Loki from Malfoy. According to Marvel Universe Wiki, Loki wears horns because it's an Asgardian symbol of the sorcery he wields, so I decided to put that.

We never learned anything about Hermione's family except her parents are muggle denisit, so I made some stuff up and gave her friendly, well liked parents.

That's all I can think of for now. I hope you enjoyed it. The next chapter is Harry's pov again.
