AN: It was a bit hard to get this chapter right, a bit hard to write someone fighting Dementors; it is not much you can have them do; hopefully, I a good job, but I like how this chapter turned outI hope you enjoy it.

Chapter 15: Dementors

Loki tossed the chains onto her shoulder as she walked between Dumbledore, and Ron,up to Gryffindor Tower; they walked in silence right up to the portrait of The Fat Lady, where Ron gave the password so that they could walk in; upon seeing Dumbledore, the room fell silent, and those who were sitting stood; Professor McGogongall hardly entered Gryffindor Tower, and no other teacher had shown up here, so to see not only their History of Magic Professor walking through the portrait hole but Albus Dumbledore himself, was shocking.

"No need to stand, everyone, just continue what you were doing; Mr. Wesaley here has something to show us in his dorm," Dumbledore said, then motioned for Ron to show the way. When he opened the dorm door and entered, Ron went straight to the window sill, where the cage sat. Scabbers was asleep when Ron picked it up and held it out to Loki; she handed the chains to Dumbledore and took the cage.

"Ah, finally, the little rat," Loki said, "Pettigrew, you bastard, time to wake." Scabbers jumped up and started squealing and running around the cage. "I'm touched you remember me." she turned to Ron and Dumbledore. "Pettigrew was always a bit scared of me." She set the cage on the floor and opened the lid.

Loki stepped back and pulled Ron behind her. "Alright, Albus, I'm sure you know the spell,"

"I do," Dumbledore said, pulling out his wand; he pointed it at Pettigrew, and a flash of blue-white light erupted from it; for a moment, Scabbers froze in midair, his small gray form twisting madly, then the rat fell and hit the floor. There was another blinding light, and then a head was shooting upward from the ground; limbs were sprouting; a moment later, a man was standing where Scabbers had been, cringing and wringing his hands; his eyes darted to the door and back again.

"Well, hello, Peter," Dumbledore greeted cheerfully. Loki looked at him as if he was nuts.

"Dumbledore." Pettigrew squealed, "Thank God you're here, she's evil...don't...listen to her, I'm an innocent man." He pointed at Loki with a hand that was missing a finger.

"I must say, Pettigrew, for an innocent man, you sure do, sound guilty," Loki replied. "By jumping right to pointing fingers at others."

"I know who you have a history with," Pettigrew said, "It's easy to guess; you want Sirius back, so you want to frame me. Send me to Azkaban, in his place so he can go free. You were always attached to Sirius like some..."

"I would watch what you say about me, rat," Loki warned, putting her hand on her hip, eyes flashing dangerously; Pettigrew whimpered.

"We've been having a little chat, Peter, about what happened the night Lily and James died. I have heard Sirius's side; how about you tell yours?" Dumbledore said.

"You don't believe him, do you...? He wants to kill me, Albus." Pettigrew whispered.

"Who doesn't want to kill you?" Loki asked. "I'd wager most people that have met you do."

"Sirius killed Lily and James, and now he will kill me too." Pettigrew said, "Sirius is crazy; he would have killed us all. I knew he'd come after me! I knew he'd be back for me! I've been waiting for this for twelve years!"

"You knew Sirius was going to break out of Azkaban?" Dumbledore demanded, his brow furrowed. "You foresaw that Sirius would be the first prisoner to break out of Azkaban to come after you?"

"Wow, that's some seer ability you have there, rat," Loki said.

"He can take over for Professor Trelawney," Ron said; Loki grinned, though she was sure he was trying to hide how upsetting it was to have your pet suddenly become a full-grown adult before your eyes.

"Sirius has dark powers the rest of us can only dream of!" Pettigrew shouted shrilly. "How else did he break out of Azkaban? I suppose He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named taught him a few tricks!"

Loki laughed, "Oh, I know; Sirius knows the Dark Arts; how can he not? Look at the family he grew up in, but Sirius would never use them on an innocent person, and Voldemort never taught him a damn thing, any extraordinary magic Sirius knows, I taught him." Pettigrew flinched as though Loki had smacked him across the face.

"What, scared to hear your old master's name?" Loki demanded, smirking, "I understand why. The Death Eaters that escaped imprisonment would love to get their hands on you; the ones in Azkaban do, too; Sirius heard them yelling and blaming you for Voldemort's downfall; they think you double-crossed them."

"Don't know what you're talking about, Reigny," muttered Pettigrew; the amusement left Loki's face at once, and she glared at Pettigrew with such a mad look he took two steps back.

"Don't ever call me that again," Loki said, her tone deadly.

"You don't believe this, do you, Albus?" Pettigrew demanded, looking hopeful at Dumbledore.

"I must admit, Peter, I have difficulty understanding why an innocent man would want to spend twelve years as a rat," Dumbledore said.

"Innocent, but scared!" Pettigrew said. "If Voldemort's supporters were after me, it was because I put one of their best men in Azkaban, the spy, Sirius Black!"

"How dare you," Loki growled. "Sirius wouldn't spy for Voldemort, and he would not snitch on the Potters, and he would definitely not tell Voldemort where Harry was."

"No...you weren't there anymore; Sirius changed when you left; he...was a nasty.."

"Do not talk bad about Sirius!" Loki shouted, and Pettigrew whimpered again and took another step back. "There is something you never knew, rat; the reason I know Sirius would never send Voldemort after Harry is because he is Sirius's son, mine and Sirius's; James and Lily adopted him and gave him their name, but he was never truly their's Lily was never with child, nor did she ever give birth."

"No...no...no." Pettigrew shook his head.

"Yes..yes..yes," Loki replied mockingly.

"I think we have seen enough," Dumbledore said; and Pettigrew dropped to his knees and started to beg.

"I...I... couldn't help it; what would you have done? Voldemort was too powerful." Pettigrew cried.

"What would I have done, Peter? That's hard to say, though; I know what I wouldn't have done. I wouldn't have sold my friends out and caused their deaths." Dumbledore replied. "And sent a madman after an innocent child."

"But You-Know-Who was so powerful; I had no other choice," Pettigrew said.

"You could have come to me for help, Peter; I could have protected you," Dumbledore said.

"Your friends would have helped you; James and Lily would have been willing to allow you to go into hiding with them," Loki said, "But you had to be a snitch; Lily and James were my friends, the best friends anyone could have, and they are dead because of you."

"Unfortunately, nothing can be done about it now except to turn Peter over to the Minister and have Sirius declared an innocent man," Dumbledore said.

"No, please, you can't; they'll give me to the Dementors." Peter cried, "Please...I... didn't mean to." he turned to Loki and grabbed hold of her leg, wrapping his arms around her as if hugging her leg. "Reigna...please...have mercy, forgive me!"

"Get off me!" Loki cried, shoving Pettigrew off, "You didn't have mercy for a small child, did you? Harry was a baby, and you sent Voldemort there knowing he wanted to kill him! You tried to have my child killed, Pettigrew, and framed his father for it; that's unforgivable."

Pettigrew turned from Loki, spotted Ron, and tried to reach for him, screaming about being his pet, Loki grabbed hold of Pettigrew's hair, pulled him to his feet, then let go, grabbed his neck, and slammed him into the wall, made a dagger appear in her hand, and pointed it at him, while still holding him to the wall by his throat.

"Don't you dare touch that child," Loki snared, "I should take this dagger and gut you right here right now. After framing Sirius, after everything you did, you would deserve it."

"Reigna," Dumbledore spoke up. "We need him alive to prove Sirius innocent."

Loki let go of Pettigrew and shoved him to the floor, "You are right. I can not kill him; besides, death is too quick and easy. I want him to suffer the same hell Sirius did for twelve years."

Dumbledore handed Loki the chains, and she fixed them on Pettigrew's wrist and ankles, then grabbed his arm and roughly pulled him to his feet, made the muzzle appear and fit it over his mouth.

"So, we don't have to hear his begging," Loki explained. Dumbledore looked as if he might protest but didn't, as the door suddenly burst open, and an out-of-breath Harry ran in, shortly followed by Hermione.

"Harry, is something wrong?" Loki asked, putting her hands on his shoulders. "Take deep breaths; good, now, tell me what's the matter. Why are you not with your father?"

"Aurors took him. I tried to stop them, but he told me to get you; they took him to the Quidditch Pitch, then are going to fetch the Dementors." Harry said.

Loki growled in anger and teleported out of the dorm; she appeared on the Quidditch Pitch in time to see Sirius forced on his knees by two Aurors, then they ran off when around a dozen dementors appeared heading toward Sirius; Loki teleported to stand in front of him, thrust out her hands and used her magic to blast the Dementors away.

Loki turned around to help Sirius to his feet, but he was already standing and had already used magic to get the cuffs off him and was now rubbing his writs.

"Bastard," Sirius mumbled, looking at the red on his wrist.

"I beg your pardon?" Loki demanded, reaching out to heal him.

"Not you, Cornelius Fudge, and those damn Aurors, " Sirius replied. "The rest ran off before them, and one had gone down to tell those things I was up here."

"They return; I will kill them," Loki replied, checking Sirius's wrist, before letting him go.

"You can hurt them, but no killing," Sirius replied. "You made the Unbreakable Vow with Remus; I'm not taking any chances on it killing you if you break it."

"You're sweet to worry, but I think it was just for people in Hogwarts," Loki said before turning back to the Dementors, who were making their way back to them. "Besides, I doubt it would work on me."

"We aren't going to find out; I mean it, Reigny; I'm not losing you when I just got you back," Sirius said. He was starting to sound worried, so Loki decided to change the subject.

"Do you think these things can think?" Loki asked, "Like you and I do?"

"Not like us, but they have some thought, though reading them makes me feel depressed," Sirius said, casting his Patronus; a silvery dog appeared and chased some away.

"We'll have to keep working on your abilities," Loki said.

"Too bad they can't be of use now," Sirius said.

"Indeed," Loki said, then took off running into the middle of the Dementors, blasting out magic and throwing daggers, even kicking some of them away; as the sun went down and the night arrived, the Quidditch Pitch lit up with green, and silvery light as Loki and Sirius battled the Dementors together, there were around a dozen, a lot more than was originally stationed at the gates all year; they must have brought more with them for some reason, maybe because Albus had alerted the Ministry of an intruder, and they thought it was Sirius, the thought made Loki even angrier, as she let out another large blast of magic, blasting them back again.

Sirius's silvery dog ran around her as Sirius walked up to her. "You doing alright?"

"I'm okay, you?" Loki asked.

"I'm fine, of course," Sirius replied; he leaned in to kiss her, but Loki put her hand on his chest to stop him.

"They'll be back, you know?" Loki warned.

"Yeah, maybe we should go inside," Sirius suggested.

"No, we need to stop them, or else they may get into the castle where the children are. Where Harry is." Loki said, "I'm pretty sure those things are out of control, some of them anyway, they've been away from Azkaban too long, and they are hungry."

"Our so-called Minister is an idiot for thinking those things are in the Ministries' control," Sirius said. "Trying to read them is confusing; when together they have like a hive mind, they are all thinking the same."

"Stop trying to read those things." Loki demanded, "We need to defeat them; how do you kill a Dementor?"

"I don't think you can," Sirius replied; Loki frowned in thought there had to be a way.

"Here they come," Loki said, watching them reappear.

They got back into the battle, Loki noticing some of The Dementors were trying to get past them to the castle, and a few targeted Sirius; the Ministry was stupid in thinking they could keep soul-hungry creatures away from the ones they were allowed to torment for a year and not have them lose control; the Dementors that were already here, probably didn't even care about getting Sirius now, they wanted anyone, and no one has more emotions going out of control than Hogwarts age students who ranged from being pre-teens to ones about to enter adulthood; the ages were children were experiencing some important milestones in their early life; making life-long friends, ending a friendship, stressing over schoolwork, finding their first love, first heartbreak, the number of different emotions coming from that castle was probably overwhelming.

A golden light stunned behind Loki, and she turned around to see a shimmery golden wolf chasing off the Dementors that were coming up behind her; she looked to see Harry, standing not far away, looking at her; he was trying to protect her; Loki appreciated the thought, but wished he hadn't felt the need to come out here, too dangerous. Besides, as his parents, it was her and Sirius's job to protect him.

"Did I see Harry's Patronus?" Sirius walked up to her; he looked toward Harry just as he cast another one.

"He shouldn't be here," Loki said, concern clear in her voice.

"I'll stay close to him," Sirius said; he blasted some Dementors away, sent a Patronus to circle Harry, then ran over to stand next to him; Loki watched as Sirius said something to him; and Harry nodded and they both started casting their Patronus; smiling to herself, Loki walked forward to blast away every Dementor Harry, and Sirius chased back, though not knowing how to kill these things was starting to be annoying. No matter what Loki did, nothing killed them, not even her daggers; she could blast them away for a bit, but they kept reappearing.

Loki had made her way to Sirius, and Harry, standing on her son's other side; the three of them worked together in trying to keep the Dementors back; at one point, Sirius and Harry had a Patronus a piece behind them to stop any Dementors that might get past them, but despite Sirius and Loki's best efforts to stay close to Harry, they did get separated without them even realizing it; Loki had just blasted another Dementor away when she heard Harry cry out and looked to see him lying on the ground, covering his head while three Dementors closed in on him.

"No," Loki cried out, but before she could do anything, Sirius let out a roar of anger, and a large blast of his magic hit the Dementors and knocked them all out of site. Then Sirius ran to Harry and pulled him in his arms.

Loki ran over and dropped down next to them; Harry was moving and his eyes open, looking at them both; there was life in them, so Loki took that as meaning he still had a soul.

"You alright, Kiddo?" Sirius asked.

"Yeah, those three came out of nowhere. I got surprised, is all" Harry sat up out of Sirius's arms, and Loki hugged him. Harry stiffed, unsure how to respond, then Loki pulled away as Dementors started circling them and floating by; it was just under a dozen, but since they had to fight the same ones over and over, there might as well be more.

Loki felt rage building up in her; these damn things nearly got her son's soul and wanted Sirius's; they wanted to take Loki's family from her and go after the people in the castle; most in there had been kind to Loki all year. Remus was in there, the only best friend Sirius had left, and Loki promised Dumbledore she would help protect all the students, and that's what she was going to do.

With an angry shout, Loki stood up and thrust out her hands; her skin slowly turned blue as the air turned cold, frost formed on the ground and ice flew from her palms, covering the Dementor and freezing them in place, but somehow still hanging in mid-air. Loki made her scepter appear; gripping it tightly, she ran around cutting the heads off everyone; she tossed the scepter at the ones far away, then used her telekinesis to call it back and got the ones closer, even running in the air to reach higher, or teleporting to another side of the pitch. Once their heads were gone, the bodies dropped to the ground. They were dead this time, no coming back. Sirius and Harry looked around them in amazement; the ground under them wasn't frozen; Loki was able to keep the ice from them.

When Loki landed back on the ground, the blue faded from her skin, and she looked toward Harry and Sirius, who were watching her wide-eyed; Loki pointed at the dead Dementors with her scepter.

"I found a way to kill them." She said. Then it dawned on her that Sirius had just seen her in Jotunn form, something she didn't even know she could do without touching something from Jotunheim, though it made sense since Harry could.

"Damn, I never wanted you to see me like that," Loki replied.

"Why?" Sirius asked, "You looked gorgeous."

"You think so?" Loki asked. Sirius walked over and put his arms around her.

"Of curse, I think blue is my new favorite color," Sirius said.

"Don't be ridiculous," Loki said, though she was laughing.

Harry looked away, feeling like he was intruding on a special moment, but it was ruined when Dumbledore, McGogongall, Fudge, Ron, and Hermione came running onto the field. All stopped in their tracks at the sight of the Dementors lying on the ground. Loki pulled out of Sirius's arms and quickly made her scepter disappear.

"My Dementors. What did you do?" Fudge asked; Loki's smile fell as she turned back to Fudge.

"What did I do?" Loki demanded. "Those things were out of control; if it hadn't been for Sirius, Harry, and I, you'd have a castle full of tormented and soulless children because that's who they wanted; they didn't care about getting Sirius Black anymore."

"Impossible," Fudge said.

"No, Reigny is right," Sirius said, "Only a few were after me; they headed for the castle; I just happened to be standing in their path."

"Merlin, the poor children," McGogongall said. She and Dumbledore turned and glared at Fudge.

Before anyone could say anything else, Aurors appeared next to Fudge, with Pettigrew still chained in Loki's enchanted shackles, but the muzzle was gone; someone had taken it off.

"Pettigrew," Sirius growled in anger as he charged toward him, stopping a few steps away as Pettigrew stared at him in fear.

"Sirius...I didn't..I'm sorry..."Pettigrew stumbled. "Forgive me, Sirius, please."

"Forgive you?" Sirius demanded, magic flowing from his fingers.

"I don't know why you're so angry. It doesn't look like Azkaban affected you." Pettigrew said, which was the worse thing he could have said, for Sirius gave him an enraged look and held out his hand.

"Crucio"

Pettigrew let out a painful scream as he dropped to his knees and then fell over, his body jerking and twisting; Dumbledore, McGogongall, and Fudge protested as Hermione stepped back up, covering her ears, and closing her eyes tightly, Ron too, stepped a bit away from them, a frightened look on his face.

"Stop!" Harry yelled. Loki looked toward him; he looked surprised and a little frightened, maybe? She couldn't read his expression. He had a mix of emotions playing across his face.

Sirius had heard Harry's pleading and ended the spell at once and looked at Harry, and when he took a step toward him, Harry stepped back, causing Sirius to stop, and hurt crossed his face. Loki walked over to Harry and put her arm around his shoulders.

"Sirius will never hurt you, sweetheart," Loki told him gently.

"He said he wouldn't leave again, but then he does that." Harry snapped, trying to pull away from Loki, who now understood his expression; it wasn't fear; it was hurt and disappointment. "I don't know what that spell was, but I doubt it was legal; he will be locked up again and abandon me again."

"Sirius isn't going back to Azkaban," Loki assured him, pushing Harry's hair out of his face; she kissed his forehead, then looked toward Sirius and motioned him to come to them; he walked over and put his arm around Harry too, they both stood there, holding him protectively.

"I didn't think, kiddo; I'm sorry," Sirius said, "But you don't have to worry; there is no way I'm going back to Azkaban. I promise I'm not abandoning you again."

"Not going back?" Fudge demanded, "You just used an Unforgivable right in front of me, and I had agreed to get you set free; I can't do that now; those curses are illegal for a reason."

Sirius let go of Harry and stepped up in Fudge's face, and pointed at Pettigrew, who still lay on the ground breathing heavily.

"Sirius," Harry cautioned; why couldn't Fudge have kept quiet? Harry didn't know what to think about his newly discovered parents, but he'd like to spend time with them and get to know them; he was getting his lifelong desire of having a family of his own, and he didn't want his father locked up in Azkaban. Sirius looked back at Harry and gave him a reassuring smile before turning back to Fudge.

"I just spent twelve years in Azkaban," Sirius said. "TWELVE YEARS! For something that piece of filth did, I think I already did my time, don't you?"

"That's not how things work," Fudge said as he motioned at the Aurors. They pulled out wands and walked toward Sirius; Loki looked at Harry and rolled her eyes, then removed her arm from around his shoulders and walked over and stood in front of Sirius and crossed her arms. The Aurors looked at each other, unsure of what to do.

Loki didn't hesitate, she grabbed the first by his arm, spun him around, flipped him over her shoulder, then ducked a spell from another one, then knocked his feet from under him, reached up, touched his temple, and put him to sleep; then she stood back up snatched the wand out of another Auror's hand, tossed it to the side, and kneed him in the groin; Loki blasted a fourth Auror away with magic, then grabbed one by the shirt and threw him a few feet across the field, Sirius was grinning the whole time, while everyone else watched in shock.

Then when an Auror grabbed Loki's arm roughly and spun her around to face him, Sirius's fist connected with his jaw, knocking him to the ground. One last Auror came up to Loki, she grabbed his wrist, stopping him from pointing his wand at her, and put a finger to his temple, and a green light came from her fingertips.

"Go home," Loki said. The Auror pulled his arm out of her, gasped, then walked off the Quidditch Field in the direction of Hogsmeade.

"Hey, Dawlish, where do you think you are going?" Fudge demanded. He didn't answer; when he reached the apparition point, Dawlish apparated away; doing what Loki told him, he went home.

Sirius walked back over and stood next to Harry, who was watching Loki with interest.

"Your Mother can be a little protective," Sirius said quietly so only Harry could hear. "And don't worry, no matter how angry we might make her in the future, she will never harm us; some shouting, likely, and I could get banished to the sofa sometimes, possibly a snarky remark here or there, she's where you get your smart mouth, by the way."

"Think she will teach me some of those moves?" Harry asked.

"That and more trust me, Reingy likes making sure those she cares about can defend themselves," Sirius explained. "She can be very dramatic too, which you're about to see."

Loki took a moment to dust herself of, strengthen her clothes, then push her hair out of her face before she glared at Fudge.

"Dose anyone else want to harm someone I love?" Loki demanded. "Go ahead and try. I'm in a very dangerous mood right now."

"Umm, Sirius," Fudge said, eyes on Loki's fingers, where a little magic flowed from them.

"Yes, Minister?" Sirius asked; his innocent tone caused Harry to smile.

"I'll have Pettigrew taken into custody and call off the search for you, but you'll have to appear before the Wizengamot and speak to Amelia Bones to answer some questions." Fudge said, eyes still on Loki. "Then you'll be declared innocent."

"Reigny and I want custody of Harry Potter," Sirius said. Harry frowned; he wanted to get to know Sirius and Loki, but he didn't think he was ready to live with them full-time, plus Harry still wanted to stay at the Weasley, but he kept quiet; he'll mention it to Sirius and Loki later, in private.

"You'll have to speak with the Department of Magical Children and Families," Fudge said, "You'll have to file for custody; that's a lot of paperwork, you'll have to show proof you're his godfather, and you'll need to prove you're sane, show proof you have a safe and stable home. Are you sure you want to go through all that?" Loki raised her eyebrow. "I'll get you an appointment with them."

"That's better," Loki said, giving Fudge a grin that sent shivers down his spine.

AN I figured Harry, would be a little hesitant about living with Loki and Sirius at first, but still want to get to know them, finding out he has parents that were alive, and both gave him up at one point, isnt a welcoming, but Harry is willing to forgive and move on, because he always wanted a real family, he just needs to trust them, before accepting them first.

Reigny is a nickname Sirius came up with for Reigna/Loki back in the day, Lily and James started calling her that too, after they all became good friends, so given how much Loki hates him now, Loki dosn't feel he has a right to use it.

I know some might think Sirius wouldn't use an Unforgivable, but I think if made enough and hated the other person enough he would, he did grow up in a Dark Family, I always figured her know some dark arts just by seeing them do them, plus we know Sirius has a mean side, (bullying Snape) plus him and Remus would have killed Pettigrew in POA if Harry hadn't stopped them.
