AN I'm a little nervous about this chapter; it wasn't originally planned, but when looking up Avengers villains, I might be able to use and stumbled upon one I thought would be interesting, and then this idea came to me, and I thought, why not, it could be a way to get the Avengers involved with what's going on in the wizarding would and could maybe lead to a plot in the sequel i might do. There is a small time skip in the middle of the chapter, and changed of location, I hope it's not confusing.

I feel I should warn you there is a conversation that some maybe not like, or find offensive in some way, I'm not sure, and I don't want to say what, because it'll spoil my little twist at the end, but felt I should warn you.

Chapter 16: Things Take A Dark Turn.

Government building, Washington DC Early June 2013 8:25 am

Alexander Pierce walked off the elevator and down the hall; he opened the door, walked into a meeting room, and paused in his tracks because instead of the rest of the World Security Council members sitting around the table, there were Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Natasha Romanoff, and Clint Barton; over by a door that led into a different room stood Steve Rogers, who was in the Captain America outfit, holding his shield, next to him was Thor, arms crossed, Mjolnir hanging from his belt.

"What's going on here?" Pierce demanded.

"Have a seat, Pierce; I have a few questions for you," A voice said; Pierce looked over to the large windows to see Nick Fury, his back to him, staring out the window.

"I have no idea what you and your...Avengers are up to, but I am supposed to be in a very important meeting right now; I'm going to have to ask you all to leave."

Pierce turned to open the door for them, but it wouldn't open; it had somehow become locked.

"Do you know how much you can control with a phone?" Tony asked; Pierce frowned as he noticed Tony did have a phone sitting on the table in front of him. "Just program it into the building's computer system, and you can do anything."

Tony pressed something on his phone, and the lights turned off; then he pressed the button again, and the lights turned back on.

"You can get arrested for that," Pierce said, "You can't just hack into this building's security system."

"I just did." Tony said, "It was easy, probably a little too easy, to be honest, Alex. May I call you Alex?"

"No," Pierce said, then turned to Fury. "What's going on here, Nick? I have a meeting with The World Security Council. I'm supposed to be in."

"The meeting was canceled, Pierce; now, have a seat. I have a few questions for you." Fury said, turning to face him. "Before your arrest."

"My arrest." Pierce said, "You can't..." He trailed off when Bruce cleared his throat, and Pierce looked at him; he gave a wave and grinned. "I don't have time for this."

"Oh, you have plenty of time," Nick said, walking over and pulling a chair out. "Sit."

"You better listen to Fury, Alex," Tony said, "You wouldn't want to make Brucie angry, would you?"

"Believe me; you wouldn't like him when he's angry," Clint said.

"I'm already starting to feel slightly annoyed," Bruce added.

"He's not the only one," Natasha said.

"Fine," Pierce said, sitting in the chair Fury pulled out. "What are your questions?"

"Hydra, Pierce, why?" Fury demanded. Pierce was quiet for a moment before speaking.

"HYDRA reminded me of an organization I was once a part of, a long time ago, which had the same ideas and somewhat the same goals, like Hydra, the leader of my other organizations failed, and most of its members were cowards, they went into hiding, refusing to admit being a part of it, claimed to have been brainwashed, so I left them all behind, came back here to America, where I was born, and raised, was approached by Hydra and agreed to join, on the goal of bringing these two organizations together, and forming one," Pierce said."Because, unlike Red Skull, my old leader will return to power one day, very soon."

"That's not going to happen," Steve said.

"We took out Hydra, and we'll take out this other group," Tony said. Pierce ignored them.

"You can't stand there and judge me, Nick; you've done many questionable things yourself." Pierce said, "All of you have."

"I did what I did to protect people," Fury said.

"You're protecting the wrong people, the weak, the nobodies; there is nothing special about those...people you want to keep safe; their blood has no value, it's dirty, they are beneath my kind," Pierce said.

"What happened to you?" Fury demanded. "You've changed. The guy I've known for years would never say those things."

"I've always been this way; you just didn't know it," Pierce said. "You might think you've won, but you haven't. You guys are all on the wrong side."

"I think whatever side isn't Hydra is the right side," Clint said. Pierce laughed to their surprise.

"You have nearly taken out all of Hydra; there's only a few left out there. But I don't care; you'll never find that few, and we'll get more members, ones even you guys will have trouble fighting." Pierce said. "Cut one head off, and two more grow in its place."

"Then we'll keep cutting heads off," Fury said.

"What happens when it's your head?" Pierce asked.

"Those left behind will avenge their fallen comrades," Tony said.

"There are things you don't know about; they are people out there you can't defeat, hundreds, possibly thousands; you aren't enough; you might as while give up now, you're going to lose," Pierce said.

"Who are you talking about?" Thor demanded, "What people?"

"I can't say," Pierce said.

"You can't or won't?" Natasha demanded.

"I can't," Pierce said.

"We have a way of making you talk," Fury said; "Rogers, I think Pierce should meet our newest Avenger, though I think he might already know him."

Steve opened the door next to him, and to Pierce's shock, Bucky Barns walked into the room. Pierce jumped up and took a step back.

"What is he doing here?" Pierce demanded.

"Barns is our newest Avenger," Fury said.

"Are you crazy?" Pierce demanded. "He is unstable; you can't just let him be a member of the Avengers."

"I'm no longer Hydra's weapon," Bucky said, "You have no control over what I do."

Pierce looked at Tony, "And you're okay with him being on the team? Do you know what he did?"

"You mean killing my parents on Hydra's orders?" Tony demanded, "Yeah, once we got all the brainwashing out of his head, and he could form a coherent thought, he confessed; I admit I had problems with him at first, but then realized that he was no more in control of his actions than Barton was last June."

"That might be, but he's still too dangerous to have walking around," Pierce said, "Why would you bring him here?"

"He is here to make sure you answer my questions," Fury said, "Even if he has a while to go before his mind is completely whole again, he's mostly safe. Give us some answers, and Barnes will behave."

"The last time I saw him lose control was about a month ago; we were all in the training room, testing one another, and something happened; Bucky snapped and started fighting everyone next thing we know, Hulk was destroying the place. It wasn't pretty," Tony said.

"You might as well arrest me because I'm not telling you a thing," Pierce said.

"Rogers, Barnes," Fury said; Steve tossed his shield through the window next to Thor, shattering it; Thor didn't even react, then before Pierce even knew what was happening, Bucky grabbed him by the front of his suit jacket and tossed him out of the window Steve had thrown his shield through, again Thor made no reaction to it.

"Thor," Fury said. Now Thor moved; he pulled Mjolnir off his belt and went flying out the window; the others just stood around quietly for a moment, then Thor reappeared flying back through the window, Pierce on his shoulder, and Steve's shield on his back, he tossed Steve the shield then dropped Pierce on the floor.

"Talk," Thor demanded; thunder erupted outside, and Pierce swallowed.

"Okay..okay. I'll tell you what I can." Pierce said he had never meant anyone as powerful as Thor, not even him. "What do you want to know?"

"I like to know why Stark had to stop Hydra from hacking into our Heilcarriers last month?" Fury demanded, "You were trying to access their weapons. Why? What were you planning?"

"Just a few years ago, Stark announced to the world he wouldn't be making any more weapons, but look at him now. He invented a weapon controlled by a satellite, and with one push of a button, many lives would be wiped out."

"That was not what that weapon was for." Fury said, "Stark was trying to make something that would protect this planet in the event of another attack; we wanted a quick and easy way to dispose of the threat that would not cost millions of human lives, and because of your hacking, we decided to scratch the idea, the weapon was dismantled and the satellite destroyed."

"And now, it's back to the drawing board and many sleepless nights knowing our planet isn't internally safe from outside forces," Tony said.

"I think it's the ones on the planet you should be worried about," Pierce said. Thor reached down and pulled Pierce up, sitting him back down in a chair.

"Stop playing, " Thor demanded. "Answer Fury's questions."

"Hydra had some targets we wanted to take out," Pierce said, "We discovered Stark's invention and decided it would be a good way to get rid of them all at once."

"What targets? Tony demanded.

"You guys. A TV anchor in Cairo, the Under Secretary of Defense, Albus Dumbledore, Stephen Strange, anyone that Hydra feels is a threat or in the way." Pierce said.

"What else can you tell us?" Fury demanded.

"Nothing, I told you what I can," Pierce said, trying to stand, but Thor grabbed his shoulder and made him sit back down.

"All I heard was a bunch of nothing," Fury said. "would you like to go out another window?"

"I was thrown through a window once," Tony said, "I wouldn't want to experience that twice."

"I told you I can't tell you." Pierce said, "So, go ahead, arrest me, threaten to toss me out a window or even kill me; rather you go through with it, or I tell you what I know, I'll be dead, and I choose to take my chances with you...heros, then to speak of what I have no business speaking of."

"What do you mean you'll be dead? " Bruce asked, "Are you afraid someone will kill you for talking?"

"I can't explain; that'll be telling too much," Pierce said.

"I think he might have a microchip implanted in him." Tony guessed, "One that is programmed to trigger a heart attack or aneurysm if he speaks of certain things."

"Or he's full of shit," Clint said.

"We'll see how much he starts talking once he's spent time in prison," Fury said.

"I said you can arrest me. I didn't say anything about going to prison," Pierce said.

"You're right. You're not going to prison; you're going to The Raft," Fury said, pulling out his phone and messaging someone.

"You guys are in way over your heads," Pierce said. As a few S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents walked into the room, jerked Pierce up, and began to cuff him.

"Looks like you're the one in way over your head?" Tony said.

"Barton, Rogers, Romanoff, you guys go with Agents Campbell, Daniels, and Bradley; make sure Pierce makes it to the jet that will take him to the Raft," Fury said.

The three members of the Avengers followed the agents and Pierce out of the room and down to the grand floor, out the door, and then led Pierce out to a black van, opened the door, and made Pierce get in and sit on one of the long bench seats that were attached to the inside wall; Natasha sat next to him, Agent Campbell sat on Pierce's other side, Steve sat across from Natasha, Daniels sat next to him, Agent Bradley claimed in the driver seat, and Clint got in the passenger side. The doors closed, and the van started and pulled out.

As they drove down the road, no one talked. Steve glanced over at Natasha and smiled; she smiled back before they both looked away, then suddenly there was a loud bang, like a gunshot, startling the driver; he turned the van to avoid a car that had stopped in front of them and drove up onto the curve and struck a mailbox, knocking it over, where it hit the ground hard, mail spilling out.

"Everyone okay," Steve asked, sitting up from where he fell on the floor. "Nat, you alright?"

"I'm fine," Natasha said as Steve made his way to her and pushed her hair out of her face, and looked at the side of her head.

"You're bleeding," Steve said, looking at a cut on the side of her head.

"I'm fine, just a smile cut," Natasha said, pulling away.

"What the hell was that?" Bradley demanded, "Was someone shooting at us?"

"Sounded more like a car backfiring," Clint said.

"Umm, guys, where is Pierce?" Campbell demanded, and they all looked around.

"He must have got out," Steve said, looking toward the back door.

"The door has no handle," Daniels said, checking the back door. "You can't open it from the inside."

"There has to be a way; he couldn't have just disappeared," Steve said, going over and looking at the door. Then he leaned back a little and kicked it open, and got out, Steve looked around, but there was no sign of Pierce anywhere.

"Son of a bitch." Clint suddenly said, hitting the dashboard.

"Clint?" Natasha asked. He turned around in his seat to face them.

"Why didn't we realize it, with all that talk about the weak and above people?" Clint said.

"Realize what?" Steve asked; he was standing outside the van, looking in at them.

"Who do we know that talks like that and can change his appearance into anyone and would have the ability to disappear into thin air?" Clint demanded.

"Loki," Steve replied; "Call Fury and warn him about what happened."

"If that was Loki, then where is the real Pierce?" Campbell asked. "And why would Loki impersonate Pierce? And if so, for how long?"

"Loki could be up to anything; who knows how his mind works?" Clint said. He handed Natasha his phone. "Here, you call Fury."

Hydra Facility, Deep in a Forest in Albania, Early July 2013 1:05 am

"Brock Rumlow," Alexander Pierce grinned as he walked up to him and shook his hand. "It's good you could come. You were told about my world, I assume."

"Yes." Rumlow answered, "But I have to say, if my so-called lawyer hadn't turned into me before my very eyes after drinking something he put my hair in, I wouldn't have believed it."

"Not even after everything you've seen lately?" Pierce asked. "Gods? Aliens? A man that turns into a monster?"

"Yes, that's what kept me from thinking I was going crazy," Rumlow replied; Pierce chuckled. Rumlow had been sitting in his prison cell a few days ago when someone claiming to be his lawyer showed up and after filling Rumlow in about a secret world full of magic; he took out two drinks, plucked out a piece of Rumlow's hair, put it in his glass, then dropped one of his own in the other drink, which somehow allowed them to turn into each other, and Rumlow as his "lawyer" was able to just walk out of prison, into a waiting car.

"Good point," Pierce said, "Would you believe that's only the beginning of it? Wait until you hear what comes next."

"Next?" Rumlow asked as they set off walking down a long hall. "The Avengers took out most of Hydra; all that is left is wannabe nobodies; we will have to recruit people."

"The ones arrested were a bunch of nobodies also," Pierce said, "They are and were never needed."

Pierce stopped at the end of the hall, and Rumlow frowned as he looked around; there was nothing down this hall, no door, windows, nothing. And the hall was a dead end, well, Rumlow thought it was until Pierce pulled what looked like a stick out of his pocket and tapped on a brick; it clicked, and to Rumlow's shock, the bricks moved to the side, revealing stairs leading underground, Pierce stuck the stick back in his pocket and walked down, Rumlow followed him down the stairs. Another long hall, this time, when they got to the end, there was a door on either side across from each other. Pierce knocked on the door to the left, then opened it and walked in.

"Alexander," An accented voice greeted; Pierce went over and shook his hand.

"Wolfgang," Pierce replied, then turned to Rumlow, "I would like you to meet Brock Rumlow; Rumlow, I would like you to meet Wolfgang Von Strucker." he turned back to Strucker. "He needs to hear the story."

"Has he taken the vow?" Strucker demanded.

"If you're talking about that vow I made before escaping prison." Rumlow said, "Yes, I took it."

"Have a seat; this might take a bit," Pierce said as he and Strucker sat in two comfortable-looking chairs and motioned behind Rumlow, where there was a third chair. He sat down and noticed there was a Cryostasis Chamber behind them

"Have you heard of Arnim Zola?" Strucker asked.

"Yes, a Hydra scientist that worked closely with Red Skull," Rumlow answered.

"Yes, he was a brilliant man; he loved to experiment and had a lot of different interests, one of his favorites was human reproduction and fertilization, how it worked, and if it was possible to do it without intercourse, Johann Schmidt agreed to be part in this experiment of Zola's, with the thought if it worked, Schmit would have an heir to carry on Hydra's work if he was ever to die. Do you know anything about in Vitro Fertilization?"

"Not really," Rumlow said.

"It's when a doctor removes the egg from a woman, fertilizes it, then put it back in the mother," Strucker said, "Despite what the science world believes, the first successful case was thirty-four years before what's on record. Zola had hung up some advertising in the poor neighborhoods, offering money for any woman willing to be part of his experiment; he put them up in November of 1942, but it wasn't until late February 1943 that a young woman calling herself Merope Riddle answered it, an ugly thing, dirty, and homeless, at first Zola didn't want to use her, but she told her story, ran away from home with a guy, who had recently left her, and she had nowhere to live, and no family, Zola decided it would be perfect to use her since she had no one to miss her."

"So, a woman with no home or money was willing to add a baby to her problems?" Rumlow asked.

"Merope wasn't all that bright; from what I've read in Zola's files about her, I'm positive she was the result of too much incest, something that is disgustingly common where she came from; Schmidt at first told Zola to throw her out, find someone intelligent, but then he noticed she had some special abilities that struck his interest. She explained all about being a witch, and the wizarding world."

"So, she had Red Skull's kid?" Rumlow asked, his eyes going to the Cryostasis Chamber behind Pierce and Strucker.

"She had twins," Strucker replied. "One boy and one girl born on the 31st of December 1943, neither Riddle nor Schmidt seemed interested in the girl, only the boy; she insisted on naming him Tom, and kept going on and on about how she will tell her husband Tom was his son, then he'll take her back, for the child's shake. Merope was very delusional. Then not long after, the twins were born. Schmidt ordered Zola to have her and the girl disposed of; Merope must have gotten wind of their plan because she soon disappeared with her son, leaving behind her daughter."

"The daughter. Would that be who is in that?" Rumlow asked, nodding toward the Cryostasis Chamber.

"Zola and Susan Scarbo talked Schmdit into keeping the girl, and Scarbo was put in charge of taking care of her; she named her Sinthea when Captain America defeated Red Skull. Scarbo moved to Bulgaria with Sinthea, raised her there on our ideals, made sure she knew where she came from, knew of her missing brother, and knew what her future would be; Scarbo had her trained from the age of five in combat skills, at the age of eleven Sinthea started going to a magic school called Drumstrang, and during the summer holidays she was still trained in combat. Then in 1979, Scarbo succumbed to an illness, and Sinthea was put in Cryostasis and will be awakened soon."

Pierce suddenly picked up the story from there; Rumlow had no idea if he believed any of this, but it got him out of prison, so he'll go along with whatever they wanted.

"After doing some research, I found out Merope had indeed returned to her husband," Pierce said. "She tried to get Tom Riddle to believe her baby was his; of course, he didn't fall for it, and having nowhere else to turn, she went to an orphanage seeking help, they took her in, and she died not long after; after finding all this out, I realized who the son was; it was both a shock and delight to discover it; I sent people to find him, and after a while, he was finally found right here in this forest which is why we set up base here."

"So, are we going public with this?" Rumlow asked, "What's our plan?"

"Nothing yet," Pierce said, "The Dark Lord isn't in the best shape at the moment, but he has a plan and will get his full power back within a year."

Pierce stood and made Rumlow follow him out of the room and knocked on the door; after a moment, it was answered by the guy that helped break Rumlow out of prison, so he must have escaped after going back to a cell as Rumlow.

"Crouch, Rumlow would like to meet him," Pierce said.

"The Dark Lord doesn't like to be disturbed," Crouch said.

"It's okay, Barty; let them in." A snake-like voice said. Crouch stepped aside, and Pierce led Rumlow into a dark room; there was a chair facing the opposite direction that had a giant snake circling it.

"My Lord," Pierce said, bowing even though Rumlow was sure the other man couldn't see him.

"Pierce, how is your Squib daughter doing?" The voice asked. Pierce made a face as if he didn't like being reminded he had a daughter.

"She's fine, I supposed," Pierce replied, "My lord, I would like you to meet Brock Rumlow; he's here to help."

"Ah, yes, the muggle." The voice said, "You remember our plan, do you not?"

"I do, My lord," Pierce replied.

"Good, good," The voice said, "Let Mr. Rumlow know, Barty, turn my chair around; I'd like to see the muggle." Crouch walked over and turned the chair slowly around, and Rumlow's eyes widened as he began to back up.

"Fuck," Rumlow cursed, nearly tripping on the snake as it passed behind him, but he kept backing up until his back hit the wall outside; Pierce followed Rumlow out as the door slammed behind them, cutting off the laughter that was coming from the thing within.

"What the hell was that thing?" Rumlow demanded.

"That is the Dark Lord, or what was left of him anyway; he won't look like that for long; we have a plan to restore him to full power and he'll get a body," Pierce said.

"How will you do that?" Rumlow asked.

"It's his plan," Pierce said, reaching into his pocket and pulled out a photograph, and handing it to Rumlow."I took that from my eldest grandson before his mother noticed me talking and made him go inside, unlike her, Colin inherited my family's magic, and unlike that ungrateful brat, shows me respect."

Rumlow looked at the photo and, at first, thought there was something wrong with his eyes; there were three people in the picture, and they were moving; the one in the middle was a blonde-haired man who kept smiling with rolls of white teeth, the other was a blonde and blue-eyed boy about ten or eleven; Rumlow guessed was Pierce's grandson; on the other side of the man was a boy, around the same age as the first; he had black hair, was wearing glasses, and looked to be trying to escape out of the picture, but the blonde man kept pulling him back in.

"The black hair boy is the key to bringing the Dark Lord back to full power," Pierce said, "We have a plan to get our hands on him right out from under Dumbledore's nose; it will take a while, and as long as Sinthea agrees to do what we ask, it will work. If everything goes as planned, Rumlow, you are looking at a boy who only has a year to live."

"Who is this kid anyway?" Rumlow asked, handing the picture back to Pierce; he glared at the boy in the photo as if Pierce wished he could be the one to kill him before answering.

"Harry Potter."

AN: in my story, Pierce is a pure-blood American wizard that went to IIvermonry; he married a half-blood which from England, they had a daughter who turned out to be a Squib; Pierce blamed her mother and left them to join the Death Eaters, when Voldemort fell, he moved back to America to hide among muggles so he wouldn't get thrown in Azkaban, he joined Hydra because they were like muggle versions of Death Eaters.

As you probably already guessed, no that wasn't Loki, the Avengers are thinking that, since they are unaware of the wizarding world, all but Thor, who knows of it, but isn't aware of what all the wizards and witches can do.

Campbell, Daniels, and Bradley are names I made up because I didn't want to keep calling them agent.

Sinthea Schmidt is the character I stumbled upon I thought would be interesting to use; Voldemort and Sinthea's backstory is very loosely based on her story in the comics, expect there was no experiment, Red Skull got a women pregnant because he wanted an heir, but wanted to kill Sinthea for not being a boy, but was stopped by Sunsan Sacrbo who raised her, she's an enemy of Captain America. But as far as I know she was never frozen.

I hope the few connections I made from Avengers world to the Wizarding World didn't overdo it, and the way a did it makes sense.
