AN: Took me a bit to get this chapter to where I liked it, had trouble with it and kept changing it, hopefully you like how it turned out, there is two more Marvel characters introduced in this chapter, so the wizarding world will meet them before the Avengers.Warning, not much expect there is a battle and a fight, hopefully I did good job with them, it's kind of hard writing fighting scenes especially when magic is involved.
Chapter 19: The Attack
"Get up! Sirius, Reigna- come on now, wake up, this is urgent!" Sirius's eyes popped open at the sound of Arthur Weasley's voice, then the moment he felt panic coming from him, he was up and out of bed within a second; not wanting to stand there in just his boxers, Sirius grabbed his jeans off the tent floor and slipped them on, while Arthur went over to wake Harry.
"What is it?" Loki demanded as she stood, and Arthur turned back to them while Harry reached for his glasses.
"We are under an attack," Arthur said, running back out of the tent.
"What?" Harry asked, picking up his wand, as Sirius hurried out of the tent.
The moment he stepped outside and stood by the Weasleys and Hermione, he saw what Arthur was talking about; people were running and screaming as a group of hooded individuals was marching towards them, casting spells on tents, and blasting them in the air, then aiming at the ones running from them. Harry walked out of the tent behind him, followed by Loki, who quickly grabbed Harry and pulled him to her in time to stop him from getting trampled by a large animal that ran by.
"Was that a hippogriff?" Harry asked, which caused Loki to tighten her grip on him, ensuring he didn't move from that spot; he was right. The creature that had ran by was a hippogriff, and it wasn't the only one; there were a few of them running around, as people ran toward the exists or portkey drop-off, some even apparating out of camp, Ministry officials were trying to stop both the attackers and hippogriffs having little luck with both. They hadn't heard any of the chaos because Loki had spelled the tent to block outside noises because of how loud the Irish had been celebrating their Quidditch victory.
Sirius watched a tent fly across the field, the owner's belongings falling out. Someone sent a spell at it and caught it on fire and sent it into another tent catching it on fire, then more tents went in the air, people's stuff was flying everywhere, next was the rubbish bins getting tossed across the campgrounds, garbage spilling out everywhere. One even struck a hippogriff causing it to roar back, knocking over a tent pole, then it took off flying, making people scream and dodge away, afraid it might attack.
"They're all mental," Ron muttered, watching as a duel broke out between a couple of the attackers and Ministry officials; the attackers cast the torture curse on a couple of Ministry workers, who screamed in pain, Sirius took a step toward them, magic coming from his fingers, but Loki grabbed his arm and pulled him back.
"We'll help in a moment; the children need to get to safety first," Loki said; across from them, a couple of wizards shot a spell at a hippogriff, making it fall to the ground unconscious, causing both Hermione and Ginny to gasp.
"Don't worry, just stunners. It'll be fine once it wakes," Arthur said, "That's for its safety as much as ours. I guess the attackers somehow got hold of the hippogriffs and did something to cause them to go trampling across the camp."
"Who could be so heartless," Hermione asked.
"Death Eaters," Sirius answered. "Though I'm not sure that's who they are."
Loki nodded in agreement. If the attackers were Death Eaters, they decided to change the style of their robes; that's not the only difference. Loki watched as a few removed the hoods on their heads, only to be wearing metal masks underneath them.
"We need to help the Ministry!" Mr. Weasley said, rolling up his sleeves. "You kids-get into the woods and stick together. One of us will come and fetch you when we've sorted this out!"
"Listen to Arthur, Harry, go with the others; your father or I will come for you when we've dealt with this scum," Loki said, watching as the attackers were starting to overpower the ministry; the hippogriff wasn't helping anything either.
Bill, Charlie, and Percy ran to help; Mr. Weasley following. More Ministry wizards were dashing from every direction to help, it looked like them, and the older Weasley kids were the only non-Ministry employees that had stayed. Sirius would bet anything there was Ministry workers that left too.
"C'mon," Fred grabbed Ginny's hand and pulled her toward the wood behind the tents; George followed.
"Fred, you two wait for the others," Loki said. They stopped and turned back to them.
"Come on, Harry," Hermione said, grabbing his arm and pulling him in their direction.
"But-"
"Go, Harry," Loki ordered, her voice raised a little.
"We'll be fine," Sirius said, "Just worry about you, and keep together, don't get separated, don't be afraid to use magic to protect yourselves if you need to, and have each other's backs."
"We will, Mr. Black," Hermione said, causing Sirius to scowl, he's told her not to call him that, but she won't listen; her parents did a good job teaching Hermione manners.
The six children headed into the woods together, and the moment they were out of sight, Loki turned to Sirius and nodded, and they ran over to help the Ministry; Sirius sent a nasty curse at one of the ones torturing the Ministry workers, which made him a target of the others, and their wands turned to him, and curses, spells, and hexes were soon being tossed back and forth, most missing their targets, but Sirius hissed when a stinging hex got him on the arm. He sent one back, striking his attacker in the face, but since he was wearing a mask, it did little to affect him other than to cause him to stumble back and then send a spell that Sirius easily dodged.
Loki appeared by Sirius's side to help, the four attackers he was dueling formed a circle surrounding them; Sirius and Loki stood with their backs to each other as they got ready to fight them.
"This is going to be fun," Sirius said sarcastically as the four attackers pointed their wands at them.
"This will be easy," Loki replied, tossing magic at one, knocking him a few feet away, then grabbed the wand from the other, flipped them over her back, and used a spell to knock him out.
Sirius used a shield charm to block a spell sent at him, then used the disarming spell to blast the attacker's wand out of his hands, then stunned him. He turned and sent magic at the other guy blasting him away. More of the attackers came running over, and Loki and Sirius continued to stand back to back, fighting until the attackers seemed to decide it was best to try to avoid fighting them. Then Loki went over to help Charlie Weasley, who was trying to fight off two wizards. Sirius smirked at the look of shock Charlie had after Loki took out both simultaneously, then walked off without even saying a word to him.
Sirius heard a scream and looked over to see Narcissa Malfoy lying on the ground getting tortured by one of the attackers, so they either weren't Death Eaters or had a grudge against Lucius Malfoy, who Sirius didn't see anywhere, and no one else seemed to care about a Malfoy getting cursed, Sirius himself tried to ignore it, but found it harder to do than he thought; even though Narcissa agreed with a lot of their family's bias, she's never actually done anything to Sirius, not like Bellatrix who loved bullying him during family gatherings despite the fact she was eight years older than him.
"Damn, it, " Sirius mumbled, walking toward the two. He sent a disarming spell at the attacker, then sent a stunner; Narcissa sat up and looked surprised at the identity of her saver. "Don't look so surprised, Narcissa. Unlike the rest of your family, I'm not completely heartless."
"Sirius," Narcissa said, reaching her hand up, wanting help to stand. Sirius rolled his eyes and pulled her to her feet.
"There, I saved your sorry arse, you know in this family that means you owe me," Sirius said, "And I'm invoking that debit now and forbidding you from uttering one word to anyone about Harry being my son."
"I knew I was right; that boy looks too much like you," Narcissa said, "His features scream I'm a member of the black family. I'm guessing that Ikol woman is his real mother, or did Lily Potter cheat on her husband?"
"Why are you even still here?" Sirius demanded, ignoring her question, "I figured you and Lu Lu would make a run for it or be one of the mask lot."
"Lucius thought it best we help so that he wouldn't get blamed for the attack," Narcissa said. "So, after sending Draco home by portkey, we came back here to help."
"Are you sure you two aren't trying to cover your arses?" Sirius asked, "Act like you're helping, and no one will suspect your husband led the attack. That sounds more like him."
"None of these people are...um, old friends of my husband; we have no idea who they are," Narcissa said.
"Or maybe Lucius has been kicked out of Voldemort's little gang," Sirius said. He started walking off, turned around, then turned and smirked at Naricssa, and said mockingly, "You take care now, cousin."
Soon after that, about half the Auror department apparated onto the scene, by then, the attack was over; the attackers were either on the ground out cold or had apparated away when they noticed they were losing. The hippogriffs were getting rounded up by members of The Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, who would stun them, take them to be checked for injuries, then find a muggle-free safe place to release them back into the wild.
All around tents laid everywhere torn apart, including Sirius's tent; garbage covered the ground, people's belongings were scattered every, fires were burning all over, and injured witches and wizards were being tended to as others put out the fires and Aurors started cuffing the attackers, Sirius finally spotted Lucius Malfoy. He looked a mess talking to some Aurors a few yards away, no doubt spinning some tale on how he was a hero.
"I saw you save Narcissa," Loki said, walking up to him, "I would have left her to be tortured."
"She doesn't think the attackers are Death Eaters," Sirius said, "But I have no idea who else it could be."
"A bit strange, is it not?" Loki asked. She knelt beside one of the attackers lying close to them and pulled his mask off.
"Don't recognize him," Sirius said, frowning. The guy on the ground couldn't be older than his early twenties.
"Looks a little young to be a Death Eater, does he not?" Loki asked, "I doubt he was old enough to have been involved in the war." She pushed up his left sleeve "No Dark Mark either."
Loki ripped a patch off the front of his robes and stood; she and Sirius looked at it; on it was a symbol of a skull with what looked like octopus tentacles springing from it.
"What the hell is that supposed to be," Sirius demanded, running his hand through his hair.
"No idea, but it seems familiar. I have to look into it." Loki replied, looking around. Then she looked at Sirius's arm. "You're injured," she took Sirius's arm and healed the minor burn from the stinging hex.
"Just a little burn; I'm fine," Sirius said.
"I'm going to find Harry and the others, you dig our belongings out of what used to be our tent, so when I return with him, we can get out of here and go home," Loki said.
She let go of Sirius's arm and then walked off, heading into the woods. Sirius headed over to where their now torn tent was and began to dig their belongings out; finding everything wasn't too hard since it was mostly still in their bags; he found Loki's hat that Harry had been wearing, the top had a dent in it, and one of the horns was broken off, Sirius popped the top back in place, and found the horn, and put them both in Loki's bag, and then made sure he found his and Loki's wands. Loki's was mainly for show, and Sirius no longer needed a wand. He still felt like he was missing a limb without one, plus Sirius had to buy it, so he had something to check in with the Ministry when he went there for his many trials this summer; he stuck both his and Loki's wand in his back pocket. Then dug a shirt out of his bag and put it on.
Sirius was tying up his boots he just put on when he felt like he was being watched and looked up to see a figure standing just outside of the trees staring at him; going by the size and shape, Sirius guessed the person was female, wearing a long reddish leather jacket that had a hood pulled up over her head, and a matching mask so Sirius couldn't see her face. Still, from her height, he guessed she was young, between her late teens or early twenties. She raised her hand and motioned Sirius to follow her, and even though he had no desire to do so, Sirius stood and started following her into the woods. She led him to a clearing, then walked off out of sight.
Sirius blinked as if he just came out of a trace, then felt angry that he had been led into the woods when she reappeared, standing a few feet away.
"Who are you?" Sirius demanded, "Why did you bring me here?"
The girl stood there watching him a long moment not saying anything and not moving; Sirius decided this was a bit too creepy for him and turned to leave when she was suddenly right next to him, circling him while waving her hands around his head with reddish color magic coming from them, the woods suddenly disappeared, being replaced with a half-destroyed and on fire Hogwarts.
"What the," Sirius turned around in circles; he was standing in the Great Hall, where the house tables were gone and replaced by bodies, dead and injured lying everywhere, and people were crying and shouting. Sirius heard laughter and looked forward, and what he saw made his heart stop. In front of the room where the head table usually sat was Voldemort, standing on top of Harry's dead body; Sirius watched in disbelief as Voldemort raised his wand and cast the Dark Mark, which covered the ceiling of the Great Hall, and started laughing.
"You son of a bitch!" Sirius yelled; he brought his hand up, about to throw the nastiest spell he could think of when he paused. Something wasn't right; how could this be real when he was just standing in the middle the muggle woods? Plus, he didn't feel any glee coming from Voldemort, and as he tapped into his empathy ability, he noticed he didn't feel any emotions coming from anyone in the room.
"An illusion," Sirius mumbled. He reached out and felt for where the emotions of the girl were coming from, then tossed a ball of magic that way and heard a gasp; the illusion dropped, and Sirius was back standing in the woods, and the girl laid on the ground not far from him, holding her stomach.
"My partner is a Master of Illusions," Sirius said, walking toward her, "I know one when I see it, so you'll have to do better than that."
"Fine, you want something better?" she demanded, in a heavily accented voice, "You should be careful with what you wish for."
Sirius stared in shock as the girl rose about four feet in the air and raised her hands; rocks and sticks floated in the air; she thrust her hands out and sent them right at Sirius. A couple struck him, but he was able to cast a shield charm to block most of them, then used his telekinesis to send some flying back at her; the girl just rose in the air higher to avoid being hit, then landed back on the ground, and held her hands out.
Sirius suddenly felt a sharp pain going through his head as he could feel the memories in the back of his mind start to stir. That wasn't going to happen. This bitch wasn't getting any knowledge to use against him.
"I don't think so," Sirius said, putting up his shields around his thoughts, the girl paused in surprise, then came back at him with full force, and Sirius grabbed his head, trying not to scream as he entered a mental battle with this young girl, causing his head to fill like it would burst open any minute.
"No use fighting. Your power is no match against me." She said.
"Get...out...of..my..head!" Sirius shouted. He was able to send a ball of magic toward her. It hit her and sent her flying back, and Sirius reached up and wiped his nose, which was now bleeding.
"If I weren't going easy on you, I would almost be impressed." The girl said. Sirius glared at her.
"I don't know who you are or what you want, but you messed with the wrong person," Sirius warned, raising his hand, magic flowing from his fingers; the girl did the same.
"Big words from a weak man." She replied, then sent magic at Sirius, who quickly blocked it with a shield charm, then sent a hex at her. She stopped it with just a wave of her hand and then sent another attack on his mind. Sirius quickly blocked it, and the clearing was soon lit up with red, black, and yellow light as they fought back and forth. Sirius used wizards' spells or hexes that she easily avoided by dodging out of the way or reflecting them with her magic, even floating in the air to avoid getting hit. Her magic somewhat felt similar to Sirius's since Loki's scepter changed it a bit and gave him the new abilities he was still learning to use.
She raised her hands and was about to strike at Sirius again, but he got ready to block whatever she threw at him; they stared at each other, both determined to win this little battle.
"No matter what you do, I'll be the winner because my job was to distract you while my brother got his hands on your godson." She said.
"What?" Sirius demanded, "What do you mean to get his hands on my so..godson?"
"Do not worry, my brother isn't going to kill him." She said.
"He better not touch him at all, or you won't have a brother," Sirius warned.
"All you do is threatened." She said, she raised her hand, and suddenly before Sirius realized it she sent her magic at him, it struck him, sending him flying back, and he landed hard on the ground, rolled once, and then laid on his back, stunned. The girl came walking towards him, Sirius figured she was going to try to finish him off, but she never reached him.
"Sirius," Loki's worried voice suddenly called out, and she didn't sound that far away.
"I'm over here!" Sirius called out, rolling over, and raising up a little hoping that Harry was with Loki or that she at least knew where he was.
"We will finish this later." the girl said, then turned and headed into the woods; a moment later, Loki, and Harry, came bursting into the clearing, ran right to him, dropping down on the ground next to him.
"Oh good, you found Harry," Sirius said, he sat the rest the way up, and was relived Harry seemed to be okay.
"Sirius, darling," Loki asked, "Why did you go wandering - you're nose is bleeding."
"I just had to fight off some powerful bitch trying to invade my mind," Sirius said; Loki took hold of Sirius's chin and looked his face over, her eyes full of concern. "Now my head feels like it's about to split open."
"That's not surprising; unfortunately, there isn't anything I can do; you'll just have to let the pain goes away on its own," Loki said, she conjured up a handkerchief and handed it to Sirius who held it to his nose.
"Will he be okay?" Harry asked.
"Of course, he just needs a little rest," Loki replied, then asked Sirius. "Do you know who the girl was?"
"No, I didn't see her face. She was wearing a mask." Sirius replied; he lowered the handkerchief and quickly explained what happened and how and why he ended up in the woods fighting some mystery girl who sounded no older than the Weasley twins. "She said her job was to distract me so her brother could get his hands on Harry."
Loki reached out and took hold of Harry's arm and showed Sirius Harry's ripped sleeve, and the dry blood on his arm.
"Her brother tried, but he didn't count on our son having loyal friends; this guy ran past Harry and sliced his arm, and the moment his friends realized this person had targeted Harry, they all surrounded him while tossing spells at the guy, not allowing him to get anywhere near Harry again, when I showed up the guy ran off. I healed Harry's arm, then led them out of the woods, and found you missing, so Harry and I came looking for you."
"It was weird." Harry said, "The guy ran faster than the Hogwarts Express. I swear that's not an exaggeration. Our spells weren't even hitting him, he ran too fast; we barely saw when he ran by us."
"I believe you," Sirius said, "That girl I was fighting, she had some magic, but she wasn't a normal witch; she never uttered a spell or jinx. She just threw magic energy, used telekinesis, and could cast illusions that were almost as good as yours, Reigny and she could float into the air."
"No, definitely not a witch." Loki said, "I have no idea who they were or how they knew of Harry and you, but I believe the riot was to distract everyone so they could get their hands on him."
"Why would muggles be after me?" Harry demanded, "And how do they have these abilities, and how did they get wizards to help them? "
"Mind Control, possibly," Loki replied. "Or just brainwashed? Maybe they are trying to be the next Voldemort."
"Yes, because that's what the world needs," Sirius said; they fell silent for a moment; being in the woods suddenly felt eerie as Sirius looked around.
"Can we just get out of here and go home?" Harry asked, sounding as spoked as Sirius felt.
"Of course, sweetheart," Loki said, the three of them stood, and Loki put her arm around Harry and led him out of the clearing. Sirius followed; he thought about the abilities of the girl and the guy; there could only be one explanation for them; if they weren't a witch or wizard, then they had some superhero abilities, except they weren't heroes. He needed to find out who the two were and put a stop to them before either of them got to Harry, which meant researching to find out who they are. Sirius would bet anything that the only people with information on people with superpowers are those with superpowers. There is only one group of superheroes Sirius knew of, so his investigation into who these two people were would have to start with the Avengers.
AN Yes, that was Wanda and Pietro, I decided to add them to Harry's fourth year, and to do what I have in mind I had to drop their ages to seventeen and if Wanda seemed less powerful than she is in this chapter, it's because she still learning to use them, plus like she told Sirius, she was going easy on him, though since his magic got a boost from the Mind Stone, he can come close to her power wise. Pietro was trying to get Harry's blood, which is why he cut his arm, but Pietro wasn't able to get close enough to put some in a vile.
The one's who attacked the campsite were wizards Hydra had recruited recently no one knew them because they aren't from Britain. The hippogriffs were being controlled by Wanda, I just thought they would add a little more excitement to the chapter.
I believe that's all I need to explain, it might be a while before the next chapter is up, hopefully no more than a week or two.
