AN: Still showing Sirius, and the chapter is a little shorter than the last few, but I hope you like it, this one gave me trouble to write. Sorry if anyone seems OOC, I did my best, and I should warn you, there is a little violence in this chapter.
Chapter 28: Moony Meets The Hulk
November 18, 2013
Sirius lay on the bed, on his back, one arm up behind his head, the other held up in the air, his palm open with black and yellow magic coming from it and forming little shimmering bubbles; he was bored, restless, and annoyed, Sirius had spent more than two weeks in this damn place, and he was no closer to escaping then he was when Sirius first woke up here. He was fresh out of ideas on what to do. Everything he's tried has failed; apparations didn't work, using magic didn't work, Sirius tried kicking the door in, and that didn't work, and no matter how hard he punched the glass, it wouldn't break. Sirius once picked up the metal rack and threw it at the cell, but all that did was bounce off back toward Sirius, who ducked to avoid getting hit.
Sirius started doing all that after the Avengers stopped entering the room because he would attack them and try to escape. If he hadn't had a concussion that constantly gave him headaches, he would have thought of turning into Padfoot to run out and now Sirius's pathetic attempt to escape has turned into him taunting whatever Avenger showed up; Sirius decided he would be the biggest asshole he could be. His goal, make one of them mad enough that they wanted to punch him. Once they opened the cell door to enter to do so, Sirius would shift into Padfoot, jump on the bed, then leap off over them and out the door. Unfortunately, so far his taunts mainly had been ignored, except for when Tony Stark gave a snarking comeback or when Thor laughed. Once Sirius's taunts didn't work, he took to looking over the cell and trying to find a way to take it apart, but he couldn't find where someone had attached the glass pieces together.
Sirius discovered the cell he was in had two exists, the door on the front of the cell leading out, then a door at the back of the cell that slid open revealing a door that led into a small bathroom that had a toilet, sink, and small shower, and there was no way out of that room either, Sirius checked when the voice had shown him the bathroom, it was the second time Sirius woke, he had to pee. He was hoping someone would hear as he shouted what he needed, a robotic voice had replied, "No, problem, sir," and then slid the back door open and showed Sirius the bathroom. He did not like that voice. It was a bit creepy and made Sirius feel like the building was talking to him, and Sirius kept having these feelings of being watched, which he blamed on that freaking voice. And why the bloody hell did the voice have a British accent? Which somehow made it even worse; though he doubted that was the case, Sirius's mind kept wandering to weird places, like Tony Stark had a British guy locked up and forcing him to speak through some speaker, and Sirius might end up being this building's next voice. He blamed those outrageous thoughts on his concussion.
The Avengers took turns bringing Sirius meals, which they handed to him through the middle part of the front door that had a small glass panel that could slide open, he ate the food to keep his strength up, and no matter who brought it, Sirius taunted and teased them, with no luck of making anyone mad. Sirius turned to trying to sweet talk his way out by flirting with Natasha, but every time she brought him anything, she ignored his flirting and wanted to talk about why he broke into Avengers Tower. He made her mad one day when he said the real reason was that Sirius wanted to be an Avenger. He went on about how great they were while using the most sarcastic voice he could muster, and Natasha had gotten so mad she had slammed the outer door when she left and hadn't been in to see Sirius since.
Sirius was yet to get his belongings back and to add salt to the wound. They even took the clothes he was wearing after bringing him a change of clothes (which were red joggers with a matching jumper and the words Stark Industries written across the front) so he could shower; Bruce had him hand him the clothes he took off through the sliding panel, saying they would be washed and brought back, but Sirius hasn't seen them since. Avengers Towers was full of thieves, it would seem.
"Dinner?" Thor announced, walking into the outer room. He was carrying a paper plate with two slices of pizza and a water bottle.
Sirius stood, walked over and took the plate and drink when Thor handed them one by one through the sliding panel.
"You, a god, serving food to a lowly Midgardain like myself." Sirius taunted, "Oh, how the mighty have fallen."
"Your taunts do not anger me, I am used to being teased by my brother Loki, and he has a much sharper tongue than you," Thor replied.
Sirius bit his lip to stop the dirty comment that popped in his head from spilling out of his mouth; Thor had no idea he knew Loki, or that they were lovers, besides he doubted Loki would appreciate Sirius joking to Thor about their sex life or how he knew personally how skilled Loki's tongue was.
"Hey, Blondie, has the sun gone down yet?" Sirius asked, sitting on the bed with his pizza; he set his water on the table next to him, picked up a slice to take a bite, and frowned. It was cold. They waited a while after buying it to bring Sirius any.
"About two hours ago," Thor answered. "Why?"
"I have no watch. How else will I know the time without asking? Being held hostage and all," Sirius said.
"We are not holding you hostage. You are our prisoner." Thor corrected.
"Oh, prisoner, right, my mistake, thanks for the correction, ole wise one," Sirius replied, smiling a little when he realized that sounded like something Loki or Harry would say, living with the two most sarcastic people on the planet was rubbing off on Sirius.
"You are a very sarcastic person." Thor said he smiled, "I like it."
"I'm flattered, Blondie, but you'll have to give up your crush; I already have a partner," Sirius replied. Thor's smile dropped, and he narrowed his eyes at Sirius momentarily.
"I do not-you're taunting again," Thor said, "You almost had me there, but I still wouldn't have opened the door; no matter your taunts, you will not get me to open this door; you are-"
"The Avengers prisoner, yes, I get that," Sirius said, "I've been someone's prisoner most my life."
"Guilt will not get me to let you out," Thor said, "anyway I must take my leave, know this. Tony went out with Pepper, and Steve and Bucky are away on a mission, but I, Clint, Natasha, and Bruce are here, so, no trying anything."
"I'll do my best to behave," Sirius replied; Thor turned and left the room, closing the door behind him, leaving Sirius alone to eat his cold pizza, while he worried about whether or not Remus found a safe place to transform or if he remembered to take his potion, he felt bad he wouldn't be there to make Loki's special tea for Remus in the morning.
Sirius finished his pizza and water, then decided to mediate to try and get his mind off Remus, Loki, and Harry, three people he cared about the most and that he's done nothing but worry about since being locked in here; Sirius sat with his legs crossed, and closed his eyes, and put his hands palm up on his knees, and took deep, slow breaths, and tried to clear his mind after a while magic started flowing from his fingers tips. It was like the world faded away; as Sirius continued to take deep breaths, not thinking of anything, all was quiet.
Suddenly a loud alarm went off, startling Sirius; he jumped a little. Then opened his eyes, magic fading from his fingers tips, as he stood and hurried to the door, watching the outer door, listening for any sounds of someone coming in, then about twenty minutes later, an all too familiar howl echo down the hallway, then what sounded like a hundred dogs or an enormous wolf running down the hall, coming towards him.
"Merlin, please tell me he didn't," Sirius mumbled as the outer door came crashing down with a loud bang. There standing in the doorway was Remus Lupin as a werewolf, he had brown fur, specked with grey, and large amber eyes. If Sirius was standing next to him, he would come past his waist, even when on all fours, after a moment of staring at each other Remus came hurrying in the room, and that's when Sirius noticed he had an arrow sticking out of his side.
"You didn't kill them, did you?" Sirius asked; Remus lifted his head back and howled, "Alright, alright, you didn't, but I wish you hadn't come here like this; you risk going to Azkaban." Remus looked the door over, then growled. "That panel on the door there, they put their hand to it for the door to open."
Remus raised his giant paw and touched the handle, but nothing happened.
"Must be programmed so that only the Avengers can open it." Sirius said, "I would suggest crashing through, but this glass is unbreakable," Sirius said.
"Holt beast!" Thor suddenly appeared in the doorway; his cape was torn at the bottom, and behind him, rushing into the room, were Clint and Natasha; Clint had his bow in his hand, and Natasha was holding a gun. Neither looked to have been harmed in any way, which Sirius was relieved of. Thor held up Mjolnir and was about to throw it as Remus turned to them and raised his hackles, showing long sharp, pointy fangs, as he growled.
"No, Thor, don't throw it!" Sirius cried, "He just wants me out of the cell, let me out, and he'll leave with me."
"You know this beast," Thor said, pointing at Remus with Mjolnir something wheezed by Thor and straight into Remus's leg, he howled in pain then bent his head to pull it out; Sirius saw it was another arrow.
"No, stop. You're hurting him!" Sirius yelled, hitting the glass door, as Clint shot another arrow, this time he missed when Remus dodged it, then he leaped at Clint, whose eyes widened, Natasha started firing her gun, but the metal bullets had no effects except making him angrier. Clint jumped out of the way, causing Remus to collide with Thor, he stumbled back but didn't fall. Remus backed away, then turned away from Thor and focused on Clint, who was now on the opposite side of the room.
"Moony, no," Sirius cried out, hitting the glass again. He knew if Remus hurt any of them, he'd carry that guilt for the rest of his life, not to mention be in serious trouble, he already risked Azkaban just being in front of muggles during a full moon. "Moony, you took your potion right, don't let the wolf take full control."
"Moony?" Natasha said in surprise, and he turned to look at her, and she gasped as she saw the seem amber eyes, as the man who came up to her in the bar. "It is you. This is what you meant."
"Nat, what are you talking about?" Clint asked. Natasha ignored him as she slowly walked toward Moony.
"You're here for Sirius, right?" Natasha asked. She slowly reached her hand out and petted the werewolf's head; Sirius looked on in shock; she was lucky Remus took his potion, or else he'll be tearing her apart right now. Remus's wolf was so tall he could almost look Natasha in the eyes. Most other people would turn and flee.
"Nat, you should probably back away from that thing," Clint said; hearing his voice Remus turned from Natasha and back to Clint, growling, fearing for Natasha's wellbeing Thor reached over grabbed Natasha's arm, and went to pull her back, but Remus turned toward him, and didn't seem to like how Thor had a hold of Natasha's arm, he began to growl threateningly then Remus suddenly jumped at Thor, this time with enough force he didn't only knock Thor down, but Natasha along with him, Remus snapped at Thor's face, then he turned back to Natasha, climbed off Thor, and over to her, he looked her over as if checking to see if she was hurt, the massive size of the werewolf compared to Natasha made her look tiny. Remus bumped her cheek with his snout, then walked over to the door of the cell and touched it with his paw, telling her to let Sirius out.
Natasha stared at him a moment, then stood, went over to the door, and was about to open it, when Bruce Banner choose that moment to walk into the room, having been down in his lab, it had taken him a while to find the source of the trouble.
"What's going on?" Bruce asked, confused, his eyes widened when he saw the giant wolf, Remus's turned to him, then started growling in a menacing matter, as he slowly started stalking towards him as if Bruce was his prey, he stood there in shock, and most likely frozen in fear.
"Moony, Bruce is a friend," Natasha said, "You don't want to attack him."
It was like Remus didn't hear her, as he walked past Natasha and toward Banner, Thor jumped to his feet and stood in front of him, Remus paused his pursuit, then backed up a few feet, and stopped, then started jogging back their way.
"Bruce, you might want to get the hell out of here." Clint yealled, as Remus jumped clean over Thor, and toward Bruce, when he landed in front of him, on all fours, his jaws wrapped around Bruce's arm, his fangs sinking into the flesh with a sickening crunch, as Bruce cried out in pain, his eyes turning green.
"Banner, you idoit, you should have ran." Sirius yelled.
"Oh shit," Clint said.
Sirius watched in horror as one moment Bruce Banner was standing there with a werewolf attached to his arm and then the next thing he saw, Bruce was growing into the Hulk. Who then roared and flung Remus off his arm and across the room, where he landed on the counter, slid off to the floor, and didn't move.
"REMUS!" Sirius cried; Hulk looked at Sirius and then headed toward Remus. "No, stop, you big ugly troll; leave him alone!" Hulk paused and turned to Sirius, then roared while punching his chest. "That's it, come get me, troll."
"Sirius, man, that's not a good idea," Clint said.
Hulk came charging at the glass cell and started punching it. The more Hulk hit the cell and didn't break it, the angrier he got.
"Hulk, stop," Natasha said, The Hulk turned to her, "Just claim down."
Hulk roared, then took a step towards Natasha. That's when Remus reappeared; having recovered from being thrown, he jumped over the counter and knocked Hulk into the cell, landed on his feet in front of Natasha, then howled. Hulk roared back, and then the two had a bit of a stare-down.
"Natty, you might want to move," Sirius said as the Hulk lifted his arm and swung at Remus, Natasha listened and hurried over to the other side of the room with Thor.
Hulk roared and punched his chest again, Remus rose onto his hind legs and howled, then they both lunged at each other, Remus knocking the Hulk off his feet, then the two went rolling around on the ground, Remus snapping at whatever part of the Hulk he could, and the Hulk punched Remus in the ribs, opposite from where the arrow still stuck out, Remus whimpered in pain, and Hulk grabbed him by his fur and tossed him off, before jumping to his feet.
"They are going to tear each other apart," Thor said, he held his hammer up, but didn't seem to know rather or not he should get involved, the fight needed to be stopped, but what if he just made it worse trying to get between them?
Hulk raised his arm as Remus growled at him, and he brought it back down, and Remus jumped out of the way, and Hulk missed; Remus leaped over Hulk, landed behind him and bit down hard on the back of his leg, Hulk roared, swinging his arm back, catching Remus with his fist, and knocked him into the glass cell.
"Remus!" Sirius called, but his friend was only stunned as he rose, ready to continue fighting.
Remus snarled, then lunged at Hulk, his fangs getting his leg. The Hulk growled and swung at Remus, and missed, when Remus dodged the blow, then Hulk missed a second attempt, Remus leaped toward him, and this time the Hulk was able to knock him aside, then tried to hit him again; Remus dodged it, then snapped at his other leg, Hulk moved in time, then Remus circled him, hackles raised, back hunched up and he was growling, showing his two rolls of large sharp pointy fangs.
"I can't believe that wolf is still standing, after all those punches from the Hulk." Natasha said.
"What the hell kind of wolf is that?" Clint demanded. He was standing outside Sirius's cell now.
"Werewolf," Sirius replied; Clint turned to look at him.
"I'm sorry, but did you just say werewolf?" Clint demanded. Sirius's eyes turned from the fight to Clint.
"Yes, Barton, I said werewolf, and I know how to calm him down, so if you open the door and let me out of here, I can stop him," Sirius said, staring right into Clint's eyes, Sirius's grey eyes glowed yellow for a moment, then Clint reached out and touched the panel on the door; it glowed and slid open. Which surprised Sirius; did he just mind-control Barton?
Hulk roared as Remus's claws cut him crossed his chest, then he hit Remus, knocking him back a few feet; he jumped back up to his feet and charged at Hulk, snapping at him, while the Hulk brought his fist down trying to hit Remus, who was able to dodge most attempts. Hulk's fist would collide with something else, destroying it; the two weren't only trying to tear each other apart, they were destroying the room.
Hulk brought both his fist down toward Remus in anger, and Sirius as Padfoot suddenly jumped over Remus and snuck his canines into Hulk's shoulder because Sirius had lied; he had no intentions of trying to stop Remus, he just wanted out so Sirius could help his friend, he knew the Hulk wouldn't stop even if Remus did, but of course, Padfoot was just a dog, not a werewolf, so, he was no match for the Hulk, who grabbed him by the tail, pulled him off, and held him upside and lightly shook him, looking the dog over, then raised him higher, as if he was going to slam him on the ground.
"No," Natasha cried, "He's not Loki, Hulk, smashing him around will kill him."
Hulk looked toward Natasha and grunted, before tossing the dog across the room, Thor rushed forward to catch him, and they both fell to the ground. Sirius rolled off Thor and shifted back into a human. He lay there on his stomach for a moment dazed, before raising his head.
Remus jumped up and clamped his fangs down into Hulk's arm much like he did to Bruce Banner; the Hulk howled in pain and shook his arm, then flung Remus off him towards the cell, Remus struck it hard, his head hitting the glass with a loud thump, and he fell to the ground, and didn't move.
"Moony." Sirius cried, jumping up, he hurried to him and dropped down next to the werewolf. He sighed with relief as he saw his stomach moving as he breathed, Sirius noticed he had little glass pieces sticking in his skin, as Natasha appeared next to him and reached out and felt of Remus's neck, Sirius guessed she was checking for a pulse.
"He came up to me in a bar the other day, he warned me of him coming here, told me not to be in the tower when he showed up, I decided he was bluffing or trying to scar me into letting you out." Natasha said, "He seemed like a nice guy trying to act tough, I didn't take him seriously after thinking the encounter over."
"Moony usually is a nice guy, just gets a bet moody once a month." Sirius smirked as Natasha rolled her eyes at his joke.
The floor started shaking and they looked up to see the Hulk charging toward Remus, Sirius, and Natasha jumped up, and did the only thing they can think of to protect the unconscious werewolf, and that was to push his massive form into the glass cell, and once all three were in it, Sirius turned around and shut the door, just in time too, as the Hulk slammed up against the second it closed.
"Enough, Hulk," Thor ordered, raising Mjolnir; Hulk looked towards him, then towards the doorway and ran out of the room, Sirius could feel the floor shake as Hulk ran down the hall.
"Damn it." Clint said as he and Thor took off after the Hulk; Sirius ignored them all and turned to Remus and pulled the arrows out of him, then used his telekinesis to raise him up and lay him on the bed, then pulled the blanket over him.
"Not sure how long he'll be out, he hit his head pretty hard," Sirius said. pushing up his sleeves, he stepped around the bed and over to the stand and rummaged through it, looking for a first aid kit. He could at least tend to Remus's wounds and gets the pieces of glass he noticed sticking in Remus out.
"Will he be alright?" Natasha asked as Sirius took out a pair of tweezers and began to pick the little pieces of glass out of Remus's body.
"He'll be fine," Sirius said; he conjured a cup and dropped a piece of glass in it. "Once I get all these pieces out his cuts should heal up, you may not want to stand too close, he might be startled if he wakes while I'm doing this."
Natasha's eyes went to Sirius's forearm, right where he had an H tattoed, Moony had been telling the truth.
Natasha didn't back away, instead she picked up the second pair of tweezers in the first aid kit and started helping Sirius pick the little pieces of glass out of the werewolf, which wouldn't even be in him if the idiot hadn't jumped through the lobby window to get into the building.
November 19, 2013.
Remus opened his eyes and groaned; he was in extreme pain and felt like a hippogriff had trampled over him, he was pretty sure he had some broken ribs, he looked down, saw his chest covered in cuts and bruises.
"Merlin, why do I feel as if I-"
"As if you fought the Hulk?" Someone asked; Remus turned to see Natasha Romanoff standing next to the bed with her arms crossed. Remus's face turned red as he suddenly became aware of how naked he was, and he pulled the blanket up and over his chest; Natasha looked amused by his actions which only caused Remus more embarrassment.
"Ms. Romanoff." Remus said, "I would say it's nice to see you again, but I would rather our second meeting not be me laying here naked and in pain."
"When I get out of here I'll get you some clothes and bring back to you," Natasha said.
"Thank you," Remus said, "Where's Sirius?"
"Over there?" Natasha said, nodding her head to the other side of the bed; Remus looked down to see Sirius in dog form curled up asleep," He said the floor is more comfortable when like that; he spent all night using tweezers to pick glass shards out of your body, so the cuts can heal."
"Doesn't surprise me, Sirius is a loyal friend," Remus said, "Do you know how Banner is doing? I hope I didn't hurt him bad."
"Don't worry, whatever injuries he gets as the Hulk heals up quickly, he might be a little sore, but he never has any lasting injuries." Natasha said, "Though since you first bit him while he was Bruce, he does have a broken arm."
"I bit him," Remus said, tears gathering in his eyes "On purpose. I don't know how it happened; the wolf just took over at that moment; he could sense the Hulk and wanted to tear him apart. That poor man, first he has to deal with the Hulk, and now he.."
"Bruce showed up not long after sunrise, he came to check on you." Natasha explained, "Sirius talked to him, he assured Sirius that with the amount of gamma radiation in him, and how all the bites healed, and he's feeling no effects from them, besides the broken arm, he doubts he'll become a werewolf, he doesn't see how it would be possible."
"Thank god," Remus said, rubbing his face, he had never turned anyone in his life, and he wasn't aiming to start now. "I didn't choose this, you know. I got bitten as a child because my father angered the wrong person."
"You don't have to explain it to me," Natasha said, "I have things in my past I regret, so I have no room to judge anyone else."
"I think everyone has some kind of regrets," Remus said.
"What happened to him?" Natasha asked, "He acts nothing like the Sirius Black I met years ago."
"Sirius trusted the wrong person, and it cost us both dearly," Remus said. "Something like that changes a person."
"Listen, Moony, I'm sorry I refused to help break Sirius out but asking me to go against my teammates was unfair, I just gained their trust, and I didn't want to lose it," Natasha said, "But if I had known you were a werewolf and what you were planning, I would have worn my teammates of your threat at least."
"I shouldn't have put you on the spot like that," Remus said, "And I knew better then to go around people on the full moon. I was desperate I had two options to rescue Sirius, the other options was to go to Sirius's lover and tell them you had Sirius, and believe me, you would have had a hell of a lot more trouble than a werewolf could cause, if Sirius's lover knew the Avengers had him."
"Moony-"
"Hang on," Remus interrupted, "If Bruce was here, why didn't he let you out?"
Natasha turned away a moment, then back to Remus, "He was going to but, I refused, I didn't want to leave until you woke, and I saw you were going to be okay."
"That was kind of you, Ms. Romanoff," Remus said, a little surprised, the woman should be fleeing from him, not wanting to be near him.
"Call me Natasha, non of that Ms. Romanoff stuff." Natasha said, Remus smiled a little.
"Doesn't seem fair that I know your name, but you only know me as Moony." Remus said, "Guess I could introduce myself, My name is Remus Lupin, you can call me Remus or Moony, either is fine."
"Remus, then." Natasha agreed.
"I don't mean to turn our conversation gloomy, but when you get out of here, I need you to convince your friends to at least let Sirius go or put us in separate cells," Remus said, "I can't still be locked up in here with Sirius when December 17th arrives."
"What's December 17th?," Natasha asked.
"The next full moon," Remus said, "I won't have any Wolfbane Potion, which is what I take to be able to stay in my right mind during a full moon, if you think what you witnessed last night was bad; just think of what the werewolf can do when he has complete control, Sirius won't stand a chance locked up in here with me."
AN: I hope the fight was good before anyone says anything, werewolves are pretty strong creatures, plus Jack Russell the werewolf from Werewolf By Night fought Hulk in the comics once and though he lost the fight, he gave Hulk a good fight, so I think Moony could too, remember Wolfbane Potion lets them keep their mind while transformed, so that's why Moony wasn't attacking everyone around, and how Natasha was able to pet him.
The next chapter will probably be back on Harry and Loki, don't worry, Sirius will finally escape soon, I don't want to carrying that on too long.
