Chapter 40: Dementors at Grimmauld Place.
"A prophecy?" Harry demanded as he paused in painting a bookshelf and turned to Sirius with his mouth slightly open while Sirius told Harry word for word the prophecy that sent Voldemort after Harry, which led to James and Lily's death; Harry's mouth fell in shocked disbelief. It had been over a week since Loki and Sirius had brought Harry home early from Hogwarts, and after spending days trying to get the news of Voldemort's return out and spending almost a whole day at the Ministry, they decided maybe they should clean out two rooms in Grimmauld Place, one the basement kitchen where the order will have their meetings, and the second room was for Harry and the Weasley children to have a place to sit during the meetings since they were not allowed in them.
"I know what you are probably going to say," Sirius said; instead of painting the bookshelf he was supposed to be painting by hand, he was using his telekinesis to control two paint rollers to do it for him while he leaned against the wall, talking to Harry, his mind abilities were getting stronger, and more advanced, Loki had been right, since the mind stone had given him these abilities they were advancing at a faster rate than someone who was born with them. All Sirius had to do was keep the thought of the rollers painting in the back of his mind, and they'll keep doing it, even when most of Sirius's mind was on Harry and explaining the prophecy to him.
"What?"
"Something close to what I said when James told me that prophecies are a load of rubbish, and Voldemort is completely off his rocker if he thinks a baby is a threat to him," Sirius said.
"Yeah, something like that," Harry admitted, smiling a little as he returned to painting.
"Now, I'm going to tell you what Lily told James and me after he agreed with me," Sirius replied, "It doesn't matter what you and I think or if the prophecy is real. What matters is that Voldemort thinks it's real, and that puts you in danger."
"And by believing it, Voldemort is, in a way, making it real," Loki said. Harry gave Loki a confused look. "He tried to kill you as an infant but only managed to weaken himself and give you that scar, marking you as his equal. Voldemort has been obsessed with killing you since he heard that prophecy. He will not allow himself to move on until you are dead. You haven't had a normal childhood because of that, so-"
"I won't be able to have a normal life," Harry said. "So, in a way, neither can live while the other does. It's like what the prophecy said, just a different meaning than one might think."
"Exactly, and I assure you, sweetheart, it will not be you," Loki said, being his usual dramatic self, which did not affect his son other than Harry shaking his head fondly.
"If Voldemort has made the prophecy real, does that mean Harry has to be the one who kills him?" Thor asked as he and Remus carried a table into the room.
"We aren't sure about that yet. " Sirius answered, waving his hand, and one of the paint rollers rolled across the paint pan; then he raised his hand, and it went to the top of the shelf and started painting. "If so, that doesn't mean Reigny and I can't beat him to an inch of his life and then allow Harry to finish him off."
"I don't want to kill anyone," Harry said; they all turned to look at him. "I will if I have to, but I don't like it."
"Most people don't," Remus said. Sirius saw him glance toward Loki, "At least most normal people don't."
Sirius frowned at that, he gets why Remus doesn't care for Loki much, and to be honest, he knows Loki doesn't care that much for Remus either, not like before when they were "book buddies," his best friend and lover now only tolerate each other for his shake, and it did get to Sirius sometimes, especially with Remus now living in the cottage with them, their dislike for each other was more noticeable. Sirius could tell Loki didn't like either Thor or Remus being there, but Thor was there because he had nowhere else to stay while helping them deal with Voldemort, and Remus because Sirius got paranoid about his best friend living alone with Voldemort and his people on the loose and wouldn't shut up until Remus gave in and agreed to stay with them for a while. Besides, that made two extra people that can help keep Harry safe, and Sirius was sure that was the only reason Loki was letting them stay.
"We'll figure that out after we destroy Voldemort's Horcruxes. No need to worry over it now," Loki said.
"Horcrux?" Harry asked, "What's a Horcrux?"
Sirius glanced over at Loki, who was sitting on the floor taking a cloth and very delicately wiping the dust off books he picked out from the Black family library to set on the shelves in here in case one of the kids wanted to read, it was the few books Loki could find that wasn't full of dark magic. They also had bought a few games to put in here along with magazines they hoped to prevent the Weasley lot and Harry from getting so bored they decide to leave the room to explore the rest of the house, which was too dangerous for them to do at Grimmauld Place they could come across a cursed object or even some dark creature lurking in the shadows.
"That was the other thing your father and I were going to tell you," Loki said, "A Horcrux is an object a wizard has hidden part of their soul in."
"What?"
"Reigny, you have to explain it to him better than that?" Sirius said he had finished painting the shelf, had magically dried it, and was now using his telekinesis to stock it with games. It was their second day in this room, it was once Walburga's beloved parlor where she host parties and mingled with other well-known pureblood families, and after two days, this room was unrecognizable. Yesterday they had cleared out all the old broken-down furniture and washed the walls down, then painted the room a cheerful color; today, they were moving in bookshelves, tables, and chairs, all painted bright, cheerful colors, ones Sirius knows Walburgs would hate. Loki could wave his hand and have this room clean within seconds, but they wanted to keep Harry busy during the day because it helped keep his mind off of what happened, and yesterday by the time he went to bed, Harry was so exhausted he slept through the night without any nightmares for the first time since returning home.
"When a magic user comments cold-blooded murder, it splits their soul in half. There is dark magic they can perform that allows them to remove the spilt part of their soul and put it into an object. This object is called a Horcrux," Loki said.
"Oh," Harry mumbled, frowning.
"And you think Voldemort made one?" Remus asked as he sat on a chair on either side of the table he and Thor carried in.
"We believe he made more than one," Sirius said.
"Of course he did." Harry said, "The snake-faced bastard."
"Language." Loki chastised. Harry rolled his eyes, which caused Loki to narrow his eyebrows. He and Sirius both noticed a change in Harry's attitude. Sometimes Harry got moody and would snap at someone or roll his eyes. That's when he even reacted at all. A lot of times, he just sat staring into space or answered them with head nods and shakes, Sirius knew those times were when he was dwelling on what happened in the cemetery, and there were times Sirius was sure he had flashbacks of it.
"What makes you think he made more than one?" Thor asked. With him and Remus living at the cottage, Loki and Sirius had to store the sofa and chairs out of the living area and put up two single beds so they both had a place to sleep.
"After Voldemort returned, he gave a little speech, in it he mentioned something about going further than anyone else on a path to immortality, we had suspected before then, but after learning that, we are certain now Voldemort has more than one," Sirius explained.
"That means Voldemort has killed someone for each Horcrux he's made. So, he what? Walked up to any stranger he saw and killed them?" Harry asked, not comprehending how people can be that evil.
"Not strangers," Sirius said, "he most likely, chose people that had offended him in some way, people he had a grudge against or just hated for whatever reason."
Harry frowned a moment, then his eyebrows raised. "I might have already killed one of Voldemort's Horcruxes."
"What?" Sirius demanded, "When, how, where?"
"Two years ago, with a basilisk fang and in the Chamber of Secrets," Harry said, "Tom Riddle's diary must have been one. That memory Riddle must have been his soul part. It could possess Ginny Weasley; it controlled her, made her open the chamber, set the basilisk loose, and everything."
"I believe you could be right," Loki said, "Do you know what happened to this diary? I need to example it to be sure?"
"Last I saw it, Lucius Malfoy had it," Harry said.
"I'll just have to ask him where it is then," Loki said. Harry raised his eyebrow.
"You think Lucius Malfoy is going to tell you willingly?" Harry asked.
"Of course," Loki said, "He's my Death Eater spy. I even met with him the other night while you were in bed asleep. Unfortunately, he has yet to find out any useful information."
"It's not even been a month yet. You have to give it time," Sirius said, and Harry gave him a surprised look and then turned back to Loki, wearing the same suspicious expression.
"What did you do?" Harry demanded.
Thor turned around, also giving Loki a suspicious look, and Remus joined the two of them, and all three stood there waiting on Loki to answer the question. Sirius and Loki hadn't planned on telling anyone about Malfoy being under mind control, but maybe it's better if they did tell them, they did promise to tell Harry anything they thought he needed to know, but then again, that was about the things said in order meetings, so this probably didn't count.
"What makes you think I did anything?" Loki asked, trying to play innocent and failing.
"Lucius Malfoy isn't going to give up information on Voldemort unless-." Harry paused, observing Loki for a moment "Don't tell me you used that stick thingy of yours on him."
"It's a scepter, sweetie, and yes, I have Lucius Malfoy under mind control. It was partly your father's idea," Loki said. Harry turned to look at Sirius with his mouth open in shock.
"Sirius," Remus snapped as he put his hands on his hips, giving Sirius a look that made him winch. He knew that look; it was the same one Remus gave him when he played that nasty trick on Snape during their fifth year. In Sirius's defense, not only was Snape too nosey and trying to discover Remus' secret, but Snape also had attacked Sirius earlier that day, retaliating against a prank Sirius and James had played on the Slytherins several days before, and really, who listens to their school rivel anyway? Snape wasn't an idiot. Sirius could admit that he should have known better than to follow the instructions Sirius gave him. He still didn't understand why Snape had listened to him. If it had been the other way around, Sirius sure as hell wouldn't have listened to instructions given to him by Severus Snape.
"Don't get all judgy on me, Moony, it's Lucius Malfoy," Sirius defended, then winched again at how much that sounded like what he told Remus back then; Remus must have thought so too, because he raised his eyebrows, and his judgmental look turned to a stern one, reminding Sirius of Minerva McGonagall and all the stern looks she gave him and James whenever they were in trouble, which happened to be a lot. Sirius feared Remus was about to turn all professor on him and give him a lecture, but fortunately, Harry spoke up.
"I don't care who it is. It doesn't give you a right to control Malfoy's mind," Harry said, "It's stumping to Voldemort's level."
Okay, maybe it wasn't a fortunate thing that Harry spoke up because now Sirius didn't know what was worse, getting a lecture from the thirty-eight-year-old werewolf he considered his brother or being scolded by a fifteen-year-old wizard that happened to be his son.
"Harry is right, brother," Thor said. Loki ignored him and instead addressed Harry.
"I would not do it if I didn't think I had to." Loki explained, "We need someone on the inside that can give us important information; yes, Dumbledore has Snape who is spying for him, but we can not trust him, and we need someone to find out information on the Horcruxes, what they are, where they are, and how many there are."
"I understand why you feel like you need to have Malfoy under mind control, but I don't like it," Harry said.
"Harry, you are sticking up for the guy who caused Ginny Weasley to get possessed by Voldemort." Loki pointed out, "To set a dangerous monster loose on a school full of children, one of those his own son. He's done numerous bad things as a Death Eater and most likely has had people under mind control himself."
"That doesn't mean you can do it to him," Harry said, but his argument weakened; Sirius could hear it in the change of his tone. "Just don't put anyone else under mind control, please."
"Unless it's essential, I will not put any more people under mind control," Loki said.
Sirius flinched because they did have one more person under mind control, Rita Skeeter. Though Sirius secretly thought it wasn't necessary, he allowed Loki to do it and promised to keep it between the two of them; unlike with Malfoy, there is a big reason to keep it just between them because not only was Skeeter under mind control, but Loki also had her captured, Skeeter was locked up in Sirius's old flat, where she was now working for Loki by writing articles about Voldemort's return in a newspaper Loki created called the Aesir Sun, she also included Barty Crouch jr's rule in Voldemort's return, then had a separate article with the theory of how he was alive, and escaped Azkaban with his parents help. She's labeled Fudge as being a useless, cowardly minister while praising Reigna Ikol as the best hope the wizarding world has against Voldemort, and urged people to vote for her, and added a bit about Reigna Ikol being the mother of the boy-who-lived, and how Sirius Black was his father, and gave a not too detailed version on how that was true and why the Potter's had adopted Harry.
Loki planned on letting the world know Reigna Ikol was Loki soon; for reasons unknown to them, Fudge has not let that news out yet. There have only been three issues of the Aesir Sun, and the paper was already causing a panic at the Ministery. An issue of the Daily Prophet was released after every issue of Aesir Sun, trying to debunk each article; they don't know how many or if anyone believed them, but each paper sold out fast. They figured that was a good sign.
"Once you learn about Voldemort's Horcrux, you will release Malfoy from mind control," Remus ordered as he began to stack games on a bookshelf.
"You have my word," Loki said, and Sirius wondered if he should be concerned with how Loki planned to release Lucius Malfoy from mind control and then decided he didn't give a shit if Loki killed him or not.
They didn't talk much after that; everyone pitched in to carry the rest of the furniture into the room, then Loki and Sirius unfolded a rug in the middle of the floor, and they finished stacking books, games, and magazines on the shelves, both wizard and muggle ones, then finally they were done with the parlor and decided to wait until the next day to start on the kitchen, so they could go home and get something to eat.
And now, an hour after returning home, Sirius was standing at the stove, Harry in front of him, holding up two plates as Sirius set a steak on each one, then added a couple of sides. Sirius was the one who cooked, like always, he didn't mind Sirius liked keeping busy and working with his hands, something that started out being something Sirius did to annoy his mother, turned into something he enjoyed, because he found cooking, and building things by hand relaxing. Harry helped out sometimes like he was now carrying the plates of food to the table.
Remus was also helping by sitting out the utensils and glasses. Loki, on the other hand, was sitting at the end of the table, drinking a glass of wine and reading Nature's Nobility: A Wizarding Genealogy. Loki found it yesterday when going through the library and brought it home; Sirius didn't understand Loki's fascination with it. But he wasn't the only unhelpful person in the cottage; Thor sat over on his bed, leaning against the headboard, and nodding off, Thori on his shoulder; the owl had taken a liking to Thor, something that annoyed Loki greatly, then again, there wasn't much that didn't annoy the God of Mischief.
"Darling," Loki said as Harry sat a plate of food before him; he nodded in thanks.
"Yeah, babe?" Sirius asked.
"You never mentioned your family was one of the sacred twenty-eight," Loki replied.
"Well, to be honest, I couldn't care less," Sirius said, "besides, I thought you said all that pureblood stuff isn't real anyway,"
"It's not, but your family's status might come in handy," Loki said.
"How?"
"Well, as your lover and the mother of your child and the wizarding world so hung up on the pureblood nonsense, your family name could help me win the election," Loki explained.
"I don't know how much pull the Black name still has, but you're welcome to it," Sirius said.
"Why, Sirius Black, is that your way of asking me to marry you?" Loki asked, his voice teasing, and Sirius grinned.
"Ah, Reigny, you know we don't need a certificate to tell us we are going to be together forever," Sirius said, turning around to give Loki a wink, Loki smiled as he turned back to the book.
"I do not see the Potters in here; are they not one of the sacred?" Loki asked.
"They were a couple of generations too late," Remus explained, now carrying a pitcher of pumpkin juice to the table. "Besides, the Potters in older times were known to marry muggles."
"I thought James was a pureblood?" Harry asked, carrying two more plates to the table.
"He was, those marriages weren't from James's direct line of Potters, plus they happened so far back in the family tree he'd be considered pureblood anyway," Remus said, then laughed at Harry's look. "I know it doesn't make much sense."
"What are you, Remus?" Loki asked out of curiosity.
"Half-blood," Remus replied, "my mum was Muggle-born."
"I see Lupins aren't in here either," Loki replied, "But the Weasleys are interesting."
"Yeah, for a family that is well-known blood-traitors, they sure don't marry muggles or muggle-borns very often," Sirius commented.
"But they always sided with them." Remus pointed out. "And went against pureblood views."
"If it weren't for that, they'd still be a respected family, even if they don't have much gold," Sirius said. He was now filling up the last plate, which was for Thor, and he ate a lot. Sirius turned around with Thor's plate to see Remus trying to lift Mjolnir off the table and having no luck, and he must not know about the whole worthy thing.
"Thor!" Remus cried out, causing him to jerk awake, sending Thori flying to the top of a shelf. "Come move your stupid hammer."
"Ah, you must not be worthy, my friend," Thor said, walking over, then he turned to Harry. "Come, Nephew, see if you can lift Mjolnir,"
"Thor," Loki protested, but Harry was already on that side of the table trying to lift it, then gave up with a shrug, not bothered that he couldn't.
"Do not worry, Nephew, you are still young, and one day may be worthy," Thor said, putting his hand on Harry's shoulder. While Sirius walked Thor's plate over and sat it down
"Worthy of what?" Harry asked, causing Loki to laugh at the look Thor gave him nearly.
"Considering Odin is the one who put the enchantment on it, probably something stupid like being worthy of his favor or respect, the latter of which he gives to almost no one," Loki said.
"Well, in that case, I rather not be worthy," Harry said, walking back to his seat.
"Blondie, get the damn hammer off the table so we can eat," Sirius demanded, sitting Thor's plate beside Mjolnir.
"Sirius, my friend, would you like to try?" Thor asked, motioning to the hammer; Sirius glanced at it, then shook his head.
"I already know the answer to that," Sirius said, walking over to stand behind Loki.
"You never know; you might be worthy," Thor said, Sirius snorted and Thor picked up Mjolnir and sat it on the floor, then sat next to Remus and began to eat.
Sirius leaned forward and wrapped his arms around Loki, who smiled and leaned into him but then frowned when Sirius snatched the book out of his hands.
"Hey," Loki said; Sirius kissed his cheek.
"You need to eat, babe," Sirius said, then stood up straight. He walked over to his seat, which was on the right of Loki and directly across from Thor; he marked Loki's place in the book before sitting it on the table; he looked over at Loki to see him giving him an amused look, before scooting his chair closer to the table and picking up his fork.
"Good; now eat, and you'll get your book back." Sirius teased.
"Shut up, love," Loki said, amusement in his voice as he began to eat.
"The food is delicious, Padfoot," Remus said.
"I agree with Remus. The food is delicious," Thor said. He turned to Loki. "Brother you are lucky I am not attracted to men,"
"Why?" Loki demanded, raising his eyebrow.
"Because, with how good Sirius cooks, if I were, I would have to steal him from you." Thor joked, chucking to himself as he ate his steak.
Sirius gave Thor a disgusted look, and Loki narrowed his eyes at Thor, then grabbed the knife sitting next to his plate and drove it into Thor's shoulder; while pushing Thor, he fell backward onto the floor, causing the chair to break.
"Thor," Harry said, standing and looking over the table. "Are you okay?"
"Do not worry, Nephew, I am used to it," Thor said; he groaned as he pulled the knife out; everyone turned back to Loki to see him grinning while eating as if he hadn't just stabbed his brother with a steak knife.
The next day, Sirius and his odd little family were back at Grimmauld Place, this time cleaning out the kitchen; it was even dirtier than the parlor room had been, with inches of dust lying on the countertops and the cabinets, which were also greasy where Kreacher once cooked three meals a day, but now did nothing but mumble to himself about people dishorning the House of Black and his poor mistress, so Sirius kept ordering Kreacher to stay in the attic while they were here, an order he couldn't disobey. Sirius would love to free him to get Kreacher out of his hair, but he already seems unstable from years of being alone and taking orders from Walburga's portrait, so sitting him free wouldn't be a good idea.
"Am I right to assume Loki will be making the potion?" Remus asked. "Because Padfoot, you are rubbish in potions."
"I'm not that bad." Sirius denied, "And yes, Reigny is making the potion; we already have everything Harry'll need."
"When are you going to do it?" Remus asked.
"On Harry's birthday," Sirius said, "So, he will be putting the Mandrake leaf under his tongue on Wednesday."
"What about needing a storm?" Remus demanded.
"We have the God of thunder living with us; we don't need to worry about a storm," Sirius said
"Harry, are you sure you want to do this?" Remus asked, "Becoming an animagus can be dangerous."
"Yeah, it's my idea," Harry said.
"He'll be fine, Moony. Stop worrying," Sirius said, "You know I know what I am doing."
They all went back to cleaning in silence. After a moment, Harry asked if he could have a break and go to the parlor room and hang out, Sirius made him promise not to wander the house, and Loki wouldn't let him leave the kitchen without showing him he had his dagger on him.
Once Harry left, the adults continued cleaning in silence, leaving Sirius to dewill on the last several days. Two days after they got home from Hogwarts, Remus had brought Dumbledore to their cottage to speak with Loki and Sirius about Harry going into the Ministry, and giving his account of Voldemort's return, they had left Hogwarts before Fudge returned with the warrant for Harry, he had gone to Grimmauld looking for them since it was the address Sirius had given to the Ministry, and when all Fudge got when he rang the bell was Walburga's portrait screaming from within the house, Fudge had left, and went back to Hogwarts demanding to know where they were, Dumbledore, of course, didn't know since Loki and Sirius had never told him the location of their home, which is why Remus had to show him.
Loki and Sirius refused to allow the Ministry to question Harry, but when Harry agreed, Loki gave in and said he would let it, that it should be Harry's decision. However, Sirius being the stubborn git he was and having more reason to distrust the Ministry than Loki or Harry, refused to allow it, even nearly getting into an argument with Loki, until Remus pointed out that as a minor, the Ministry had to let his parents be there during the questioning, and that Dumbledore would be there as he was on the Wizenagmot, and that there was bound to be members that believed Harry, and finally, Sirius gave in. They sent a message to Fudge telling him Harry would come in the next day. That next afternoon Loki, Sirius, and Harry spent over two hours in courtroom ten while Harry gave his account of what happened that night in the cemetery, with members of the Wizengamot interrupting him to ask questions. The worst was Dolores Umbridge, who did nothing but ask questions that mocked Harry, and every time he tried to continue, Umbridge would talk over him. That went on until Loki got so mad she told Umbridge shut her toad face up and let her son speak.
When Harry finished telling his story, the Wizengamot had the three of them wait outside the courtroom while they came to a decision, they were not going to announce Voldemort's return to the public until they had solid proof but were going to take Harry's claims seriously and investigate, starting with sending wizards out to Azkaban to dig up Barty Crouch jr's grave to test and see if the remains in it was his or his mother's, then go from there. Not the outcome they wanted, but at least they weren't ignoring Harry's story and outright denying Voldemort's return like Fudge did and like Umbridge had joined him in doing. Loki has vowed that when he becomes minister, the first thing he planned to do was fire Dolores Umbridge; Sirus told him he was going to hold him to that promise.
A sudden loud noise jarred Sirius out of his thoughts, then he, along with everyone else in the room, paused what they were doing at listened; there was a sout then his mother's portrait started screaming profanities.
"Harry?" Sirius called out, racing out of the kitchen and up the basement steps. He flew open the door and charged into the entryway to see Harry sitting in a corner, hands over his head with two dementors hovering him; Sirius didn't have time to think of where they came from or how they got in the house, he hit them with his patronus, then rushed to Harry's jumped in front of them and, without a second thought, thrust out his hands and sent a blast of ice at the dementors, freezing them in place, then walked forward, grabbed one dementor, and broke its head off, then made an ice blade form in his hand, and sent it through the neck of the second one, cutting its head off. Both dementors fell to the floor, dead
"They came in through the window," Harry mumbled as Sirius helped him to stand; he wrapped his arms around Sirius's waist and hugged him, "I couldn't…my Patronus, I couldn't do it, I just kept hearing what happened in the cemetery. So, I just ran."
"It's okay, kiddo; you're safe now." Sirius comforted him; suddenly, the curtains in front of Walburga's portrait flew open, and she went on a rant.
"Monster, you get out of my house, you abomination, you freak of nature, how dare you dirty the house of my-
"Shut up," Sirius yelled; he thrust out one hand and blasted the portrait with magic, closing the curtains and silencing it, then he turned back to Loki, who stood there now in his Jotuun form, staring at himself in a mirror hanging on the wall, probably the first time he's seen his Jotuun reflection. Sirius had seen Loki's female form as a Jotunn once, but not his male form, and he didn't look much different than the Asgardian form he hides behind, just blue, with silver markings and red eyes.
"Do not listen to the talking portrait, brother," Thor said, "You are not a monster or an abomination; you're Loki of Asgard."
"You're beautiful, Reigny, even when blue," Sirius said. He wished he could comfort Loki, but Harry was still hanging on him, and he knew Loki would step away from him for fear of giving Sirius frostbite.
Harry pulled away from Sirius, took off his bracelet, and handed it to him, then walked over to Loki and grabbed one of his hands. Harry's hand immediately turned blue, then it traveled up his arm to all over his body, switching Harry into his Jotuun form, and he looked Loki in the eyes.
"Do you think I'm a monster?" Harry asked.
"No," Loki answered, pulling Harry to him and wrapping his arms around him. "Never, I could never think that."
"Then you're not a monster either," Harry said; Loki tightened his grip and kissed Harry's head. Loki glanced back into the mirror; his skin started fading to normal, and Dumbledore's words flashed in his mind.
"It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be."
Dumbledore was right, and the others were right; Loki wasn't a monster. He was just a small Frost Giant. If Harry could accept that part about himself, so could he.
"I hate to interrupt this moment, but where did two dementors come from?" Remus asked.
"Harry said they floated in through the window in the parlor," Sirius said.
"Yeah, but what are two dementors doing in a muggle neighborhood?" Remus demanded, "Has the ministry already lost control?"
"I doubt it. Too coincidental for the dementors to stumble on a muggle neighborhood where wizards are. One of those wizards being Harry Potter." Sirius said, "No, someone in the Ministry sent them here." He turned to Walburga's portrait. "Hey, bitch, wake up and talk to me."
"Hey, dare you!" The curtain before Walburga's portrait flew open, and she bared her yellow teeth. "Shame of my flash, how dare you speak to me that-"
"Shut up! " Sirius demanded, and she fell silent. "How dim-witted were you lot? You placed all sorts of wards and enchantments on this place to ward off enemies or muggles, but you never, not once in your life, any of you fools think to place enchantments on this place to ward off stuff flying in the windows, stuff like dementors." He pointed at the bodies of the dementors on the floor. "They nearly got my son flying through the parlor window."
"A pity they didn't get him," Walburga said.
"How dare you?" Sirius snarled. "You yellow tooth banshee, I'll-"
"Sirius, that's not helping," Remus said as he pointed his wand to the portrait; there was a bang, and Walbuge squealed; the curtain closed, and she went quiet. "I don't get it. Why would the Ministry send dementors to Grimmauld Place?"
"The only two reasons I can think of are to either stop me running for Minister or shut Harry up about Voldemort's return," Loki said, he was still holding on tightly to Harry, and didn't seem to be letting go of him any time soon.
"The question is, did they send them after you or Harry?" Sirius said, running a hand through his hair.
"Both," Thor said, pointing Mjolnir at the two dementors.
AN: I hope this chapter was alright, and I figured the Grimmauld Place wasn't invisible until the Feildus Charm was put on, so I figured anything they it didn't have wards against could get in, and Sirius and Loki were only joking about getting married. I think I will have Umbridge because I really want to write Loki telling her off she just won't be a teacher.
