He woke up an hour later. The room was dark and uncomfortably silent. Tetsurō woke up confused thinking what happened earlier was a nightmare. He slowly sat up on his bed and felt around for the TV remote. The hospital didn't have many options to choose from, so he stayed on a sports channel.

The light of the television illuminated the room enough for Tetsurō to see everything in his peripheral vision. He was caught by surprise to see a bright yellow note sitting on the nightstand to his left-hand side.

He reached over to grab it, but the writing was unfamiliar to him. It read. "Mr. Kuroo, I am leaving this note here for when you wake up. By now I will have clocked out. I will be back early tomorrow morning if you still wish to visit Mr. Kozume, we can go. Under one condition, you must rest tonight. I cannot have you undergoing another panic attack. I am aware this is unfortunate but you were gravely injured as well. Another episode like that and you could very well end up in the same position he's in, or worse. If you do not feel that you are prepared to take on that responsibility we can visit him another time. Remember to rest and stay hydrated. We'll talk tomorrow. -Nurse Hirawa"

So it's true then. The so-called nightmare Tetsurō had was real. Kenma truly was hurt. The stabbing pain in his chest came back. His heart shattered, his tears were there but not a sound left his mouth. This day would change his life forever. How was he supposed to tell Kenma how he felt? Kenma went through all this and he never got to hear him say it back.

Tetsurō laid himself back on the bed and stared blankly at the ceiling. He couldn't let himself meltdown once more. He needed to stay strong. Not just for himself, but for Kenma too - he needed him, now more than ever. He covered himself with a blanket and closed his eyes. Letting the sound from the television put him to sleep.
