VI: Gaslighting
Blaze rushes over to the stag seeing the weapon he held along with what was inside the containment unit attached to it. "The Dark Flame. How did you…?"
Favre aims the flamethrower at her. "One more step and being exposed to the flame will do worse than corrupt you."
Gale and Francis stood aside looking at their mentor.
"To think my own disciple would go against our client's wishes."
"The Dark Flame is too powerful even for a member of the Sol bloodline. Even with a hydrokinetic still living." The bear drew her bow.
Favre turns his attention to Francis. "I should have known you wouldn't have the stomach to commit to the job again, Fran."
Francis held his blade to the stag's chin. "You never had faith in my abilities, Favre."
"Because you never proved they were of any worth. Not even in the face of four targets of which I bested with ease."
"You only bested the tribesman, the silver marauder, and the blacksmith of gold. You never faced the dolphin like I have. Besides, you failed to overcome the bucking horse."
The stag then shot a small burst of fire at the wolf. "Talk out of line again and your head will be on our client's doorstep."
Marine drew her cutlass. "That flame doesn't leave this land, Favre."
"Come and get it then." He uses the flamethrower to engulf the ground around him in flames.
The raccoon uses the water to douse the flames as Blaze leaps over kicking the weapon from his hands.
Francis would sever the connector for the containment unit with his blade.
Gale fires an arrow at the unit shattering it.
"No!" The stag attempted to retrieve the flame only to stop short. "Wait,…I don't need this one." He then drew his pistols firing at the group as he made his way back to the stronghold.
Blaze follows him. "We can't let him get back to the stronghold!"
Everyone else would follow her until Gale suddenly stopped seeing something. "Marshall!" She rushed over to him.
Marshall was on his back seemingly unconscious with a burn mark on his chest.
Cinder was hovering his hands over his torso as he looks up at everyone. "Favre struck him with the flame. I can remove it from his body."
Blaze kneels before him. "It can't be removed. Only quenched."
"By what though?"
Marine approaches him. "By a hydrokinetic."
Francis and Gale stood over the lion as they witness what was about to happen.
The raccoon began to use her ability to run water through Marshall's body. She would do so for several minutes.
Cinder looks as he witnesses the burn mark heal in seconds. "It's working."
Marine would finish the technique pulling the remaining water out of his system.
Marshall suddenly wakes up gasping for air. He sits up spitting up some water.
Gale would hug him upon awakening.
"Gale? What just…?"
"We'll explain, but for now I'm glad you're okay."
Francis would kneels before them. "We have to go. Can you still fight?"
Marshall stands up as he dusts himself off. "The real question is will I, and yes I will. Favre is going to pay for what he's done to all of us."
